Reservations for 6:30 p.m. not! We got seated at the hibachi at 7:38p.m. Several of our party ordered no veggie double rice. We had dirty plates set for us, received some cold noodles and chicken. We had to ask for water and yum yum sauce and those that asked for double rice didn"t happen. The table next to us we knew also ordered double rice the difference in size was not even comparable. Our rice was the same those that ordered a regular order. We even mentioned it but nothing was done. We talked to the manager and it ended in disappointment. He was sorry. Food and service is always great. My husband and I spent our anniversary having dinner at Shogun and it was definitely an enjoyable evening. We went right at dinner time 4:30p.m. and were one of the 3 tables there. Our host seated us right away and our serverer greeted is and took our drink orders with no wait. We ordered two long Islands because that was our drink when we first hung out. We decided to go with the the white Tuna togarashi with sauce on the side and the love boat for two. Everything was fresh and savory. The white Tuna togarashi so far is the best app I've had there. The sauce is was amazing. Definitely get it on the side if you don't like sesame oil. The chef was cooking for 14 on one grill! The seafood, scallops, were overdone. Then when the bill came 18% gratuity was added, like we were a group of 14. We only had 5. I did mention to the host, who clearly could have cared less that we would have appreciated communication. We understand that there can be staff shortages but please tell your customers that. You can't go wrong with a Hibachi place! Is this better than Benihana? No. The prices here seem a little more affordable and the food is pretty decent. I wasn't a fan of the yum yum sauce so you might want to hold off on a few sauces and get them on the side. The sashimi tasted very fresh but it is a little over priced if I do say so myself. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service provided. The sashimi appetizer, hot lady roll, and spicy yellowtail roll were all some of the best sushi I've ever had! As with any performance business or the like, much of the experience depends on two things. 1) Your guide, or in this case your chef. 2) The people you are with. If you go to a hibachi restaurant, you should be going there for the experience, the show, NOT just the food. If you want just the food, there are other restaurants for that. Now that being said, I had a pleasant experience (all things considered). There was a bit of a wait for a grill, but to be expected, they want to try and fill the grills, I get it, so no harm done. Let's start off by saying it's hibachi in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Once you understand that you'll be fine. When you walk in you're surrounded by Japanese decor. Walking to the left takes you to the hibachi section. Walking to the right takes you to the general dining area and bar. Since I was alone I went to the dining area. I was greeted by a friendly bartender and told to sit wherever I wanted. My server was also friendly. I ordered a Long Island, harumaki, and steak and shrimp combination hibachi. Everything came out relatively fast. The steak was good but some pieces were fatty. Everything tasted relatively decent. I would recommend it, if you were in the area. Regular rolls and sashimi are smaller than what we're used to in Milwaukee but they were good and fresh. Dining rooms and restrooms are clean and orderly as well. Server was attentive. We'll be back to try some of the entrees and special rolls. read more

The waiter chased me out to the parking lot because they felt the tip was not enough at %20. Tipping is optional and one should not have to feel obligated to leave a tip. If the restaurant is not paying the wait staff enough that they have to chase people down and beg for more when I am already paying $100 for a meal for two, I do not believe I need to frequent such a place. When you have finished your Sunday shopping at the Valley View Mall in Lacrosse, stop at Shogun Sushi and Hibachi for lunch. The Sunday Sushi Special will score you a "two-fer" deal...buy one of the Chef Special rolls and get a free roll of your choice from the regular roll list. I highly recommend the delicious "Dancing Dragon" Chef Special roll, which consists of shrimp tempura, crab, avocado, and cream cheese (although I leave off the cream cheese). Skip the Eel Avocado roll as it is too bland to be worth the calories. Shogun is a great spot for a date, as long as you have mad chopstick skills. The lighting is fun and colorful, yet dim enough to hide any facial blemishes or soy sauce clumsily spilled on your shirt. Service is so fast that your drink will never be empty...you'll always have something to sip on during those awkward silences! Normally I love this place. I came here today and I will never be coming back, and letting everyone I know never to go back. We ordered on the hibachi side and an hour had past before we gave up and left. We never got a cook to cook our food. A table came in 20 minutes after we ordered and rhey were severed in less than 15 minutes of ordering. We were here for a graduation dinner for a family member, and he received a card with money, which was forgotten at our table as we left. We had called to inform them of this, and told it would be set aside. When we came back about an hour after we had eatenelsewhere, they said they never found it. So they made us wait an over and hour before we gave up, still charged us for the sodas we had, added a $3 tip to this soda bill without our knowledge, and then stole my family members graduation money.
