Just finished remodeling my kitchen. I am more than happy with the final results. When I first met Troy, I knew he was the contractor for me. He was very personable and his experience speaks volumes. Troy is easy to work with and tries to get the kitchen you want. He always kept me in the loop regarding time frame or supply issues. When my original electrician couldn't take on the job a few days before demolition, Troy found an electrician that I am more than pleased with. His assistant, Kurt was very professional in his work. He also gave me a few hints that worked out for the best. He's able to look at the whole picture and visualize the best outcome. The renovation of my kitchen was an idea I had for many years. This is the second time we had Kitchen and Bath remodel our kitchen and bathrooms. The first time was 25 years ago, so it was time for an update. Needless to say, we have our trust in owner Troy Tanaka. He and his assistant, Kurt Nishi are super nice and friendly. They are very skilled in what they do and take pride in their workmanship. Started with 8 month delay, unfinished areas in kitchen, charged more than original contracts. Used multiple contracts with no finish date for different parts of kitchen. (Not legal) Cabinets are nice, with some damaged areas. Overpriced for kitchen size and unfinished areas. read more

My wife and I recently had a water leak in our master bath, which led to the destruction of our double vanity. We decided, since the bathroom needed an update anyway, that we'd renovate everything and attempt to turn this negative into a positive! We contacted Troy Tanaka of Kitchen and Bath Remodeling, who was recommended to us by a family member. Troy came in, spoke to us about our vision, and created a custom roadmap for us! He guided us every step of the way, in the most humble and professional way! Never pushy and eternally patient with us, he made recommendations on a mold mitigation guy, plumber, flooring guy, and electrician, who all ended up being an absolute pleasure to work with. In fact, I've added them to my "go to" list should things awry at the house again! Troy provided a reasonable quote that was not the cheapest, but in my opinion, the most cost effective. Why do I say that, because he has a secret weapon in his Officer Manager, Nadine. She is amazing! Nadine organized EVERYTHING! She was constantly in communication with me about the project calendar, made arrangements for the other specialized contractors to come in, and assured that certain benchmarks were met before doing so. That way, she minimized the number of trips the plumber and electrician would need to make, therefore reducing our overall cost! Honestly, just having Nadine handle all the coordination relieved a huge burden off of us and allowed my family to enjoy our time together, rather than try to wrangle up people and coordinate calendars. Obviously, the quality of the work was top-tier and we are very satisfied with the final results. It ended up being even better than we imagined! All the cabinetry and vanities were custom designed and made, in-house. The workers Troy employs are great guys, very personable, and easy to talk to. If I had questions, they always stuck around to make sure I was satisfied. They even re-ordered a false front vanity door to assure the vanity would look its best. I would say more, but would rather let the pictures do the talking. The most amazing part of my experience with Kitchen and Bath Remodeling was when the job had already been done. I filed a claim for the water damage with my homeowner's insurance company, but came to an agreement several months after the job was complete. When the checks were issued to me, they were issued under my name AND to Kitchen and Bath Remodeling! The insurance company refused to change the issuance of the checks and I was stuck! I contacted Troy and Nadine, and explained the situation to them. Nadine then made arrangements, THAT DAY, to meet me at the bank (we ended up going to two different ones) so I could receive the insurance payment. Talk about customer service! She and Troy had no obligation, other than a moral one, to give me the insurance money since the check was under the company name as well, but they did the right thing and made sure I was taken cared of. Their actions showed me that Kitchen and Bath Remodeling is an honest company that truly cares about people. Their communication and people skills are top-notch, along with the quality of their work. My opinions regarding KBR are based on my disappointing and aggravating experience with the remodeling of my apartment, ongoing/unresolved issues, and particularly with owner Troy T. and his current office manager, Nadine. Troy said the project would be done in a few weeks. It took over a year because days to weeks passed with no work being done. He claimed to pay attention to details, yet he was recurrently late for appointments, often would not return phone calls, and he was unhelpful with locating vendors for new closet doors or with facilitating the interactions with his suggested glass and flooring companies. The plumbers he recommended never called, and he offended the owner of the plumbing company I hired. I had to locate sufficient quantity of quartz for the counter tops and shower enclosures, as well as the lanai tiles, which were not set in the pattern I requested. The drywall work was sloppy and covered over areas where access panels to shut-off valves were supposed to be installed. I had to request he tell his subcontractors to clean up the work areas because of safety hazards. There were problems with the interior paint job, flooring installation, cabinet doors and drawers in the kitchen and bathrooms. The master bath shower enclosure walls are uneven. A few months after completion, photos of a cabinet door were emailed to KBR and Troy's son stated a new door would be ordered. After several weeks, I inquired about the status of the replacement and was informed by email it would not be ordered because of the cosmetic issue, yet Troy admitted he had rejected several other doors, made by a California vendor, for the same problem. He never came to inspect the cabinet, and he failed to answer my emailed questions on multiple occasions. A couple of months later, I reported one of the bathroom cabinet doors was out of alignment and wouldn't close properly. Troy said he was dealing with the effects of a fire at his workplace, and in subsequent emails stated, "We will let you know when we can come in." Six weeks after that, "We are currently not operating at this time because of Covid 19. Also still dealing with effects from fire. We will address when we are in operation again." Phone calls were answered by Nadine, who in my opinion was rude and stated she had forwarded my email to Troy. She also remarked he told her he had been to my unit multiple times. She was informed he had not been back to the apartment in over a year. When I asked via email why some of the cabinet doors were turning yellow, the reply was "Troy has been out on the road with estimates and has ton's (sic) of client phone calls & questions to return....but he will get back to you when he has time." There has been no follow-up by anyone at KBR, and emails to the company have been ignored. Troy's response to a Better Business Bureau complaint was, in my opinion, pathetically weak, and a misrepresentation of what actually happened. Furthermore, he did not address the many issues described in the complaint, and attempted to portray himself as the victim. He said I was "hardly present for the remodel." In fact, I was here for approximately 34 days during the first six weeks of the job, then several days every month during the year it took to finish the job, flying in from California. Eleven months after the start of the work, I sent an email expressing my disappointment that it was taking 10 times longer than initially planned. He stated I "complained about the most minor imperfections" about the cabinet doors. I recall being told by the previous office manager, Diane, several doors were rejected upon inspection at the shop. I did not see them prior to installation. He also claimed there were issues with delivery of broken appliances. There were no broken appliances. The wrong microwave was delivered so the correct model had to be reordered and delivered. He also stated my complaints were compulsive and "we have tried every which way to appease ..., but it doesn't seem to be enough. At this point we will not be offering any type of pro-bono services." Furthermore, "We hold true our (sic) promises and always go above and beyond to make sure our homeowners are happy with their remodel. Unfortunately, with...this was not the case." Again, Troy has not had the courtesy to call back to discuss the multiple issues, and he has never scheduled an appointment to return to the apartment to inspect or address the problems reported within months of the project's completion, despite the emailed statements quoted above. Due to what I believe is unconscionable and unethical behavior, as well as the unsatisfactory performance managing the project, including the lack of attention to details and questionable integrity, I cannot and will not recommend this company. read more

Gave her 2 down payments and didn't hear from her for 4 solid months! (thankfully she refunded most of our money - but we still had the same old kitchen!). Troy was professional, responsive and took great care that we were happy with the result. We couldn't be more so. ---- Note: we completed this reno several months ago. Troy spent a lot of time with us initially, explaining the pros and cons of custom vs. non-custom cabinetry. He measured everything carefully and gave us a detailed estimate of the work. Because he was so patient we hired him for our remodel using prefab cabinets. The workers were friendly and helpful, even pointing out to me where there would be a difference between what I expected and what was happening. Troy was very unhappy about this and was very angry with me. If the project had gone ahead without this change I would be giving a one star review now. The counter would have been in a strange shape and very inconvenient. I am grateful for the workers who spoke up. The cabinets and counter tops look great but the finishing work is very poor. We were promised that the kitchen would be paint ready by the time they finished but I have had to do a lot of work with areas that needed more mudding and a lot of sanding. This was disappointing. At the end however, the project was done well and Troy was as friendly and as accommodating at the end as he was at the start, and covered the cost of the changes. read more

His prices were very competitive and the level of service and craftsmanship was excellent. The job was completed on the timetable discussed. We lived in the unit during construction. The project was staged to create minimum inconvenience. The crew cleaned up each day and followed the building management rules and regulations. I needed to replace 2 doors on my refaced kitchen cabinets before I sold my condo. Even though I didn't have an appointment, Diane squeezed me in due to my timeline. I thought the doors had one design but they pointed me to a different one they actually matched. I was told they would be in, in 6 weeks. At 6 weeks I called to check on the status. The gentleman that answered the phone said they had been in for a week and that they notified me. I replied that I had not spoken to anyone and had no messages from them. He then repeated I had a message and insinuated I was lying. At which point we were going nowhere so I moved the conversation on to picking up the doors. I needed to bring the original doors so they could measure drill points and due to the timing (open houses, showings, and oh yeah I work until 4), I was unable to pickup the doors for a week. When I got there with my old doors, I found the new doors are not a match. The routing is wrong. Kitchen and Bath Remodeling offered to order new doors, but the doors would arrive the day I leave the island leaving me no time to paint them to match the rest of my kitchen. So after all that, Kitchen and Bath Remodeling thought it was fair to keep 70+% of their very, very expensive price and I think it is fair to share my experience with all of you. read more

5/22/2019. finally got this damn company, out of my house, but not out of my mind, I'm disgusted with the quality of workmanship of fit and finish and the problems they created. spending that kind of money, that I worked so hard for, I expected good quality from the workers and materials. I'm so mad, that I ripped up and threw away their business card, and wouldn't recommend them to anyone and use this company ever again. I worked with professional and did this kind of work, so I can spot things ordinary people cannot. Problems started from day one, when 2 guys came to install laminate, on my old kitchen cabinets called (refacing), one guy was having problem cutting a 3/4 by 3/4 inch thick trim wood, so I lent him my saw and miter box to have a clean cut. All the cutting and gluing of the laminate, was done on my kitchen floor. They finish and left, but on my inspection, the wood trim and laminate was uneven cut. the laminate they installed, 2 top corner edge was loose and not attached to the cabinet. Two weeks later, they brought in all the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and stacked it up on my kitchen floor, with no pad or tarp to protect the flooring, they cut, drill, sand, and produce dust thru out the house, while there were ample room, outside my carport. They finished and left, but incomplete, will come back later, then I notice the height of the cabinets, was not what Troy and I discussed. I talk to Troy, and told him the problem, he said he will send the guys back to cut the toe kick from 4 inch to 2 inch, to correct it. I told him, I want to discuss with my wife, and told him to call me before he send his guys. The next day, without warning, troy called and the guys are on the way, I decided not to have it cut up, the way he wanted, that would create a problem of scrapping your foot on the lower cabinets. A day later, Troy came by without notice, to check the cabinets, and would give me credit for the mistake, in his mind, he did not want to completely remove the cabinets, and rebuild it from scratch, which would cost him loss of time, labor and materials, instead he wanted to go the cheapest and easy's way, I did not want his solution. I mention, why they didn't build the kitchen cabinet, all the way to the wall, leaving a 3 inch gap, he said "we don't do that," he gave a lame excuse. I told Troy, to tell his people, when they go to someone place to do some work, show some respect and treat it, like their own home. Troy sale pitch, in the beginning, was nice and charming, until I brought out problems with the project, that when he got angry and defensive. there were a listed of other problems, I'm running out of space in the post.
