Don't use their cabinets. Their cabinet hinges are of very poor quality and their after-sales service is not good either. The hinges of their cabinets door often break easily. This was my first ever kitchen remodel - which had a HORRID start in me hiring an unlicensed contractor Miha Pravst (who bailed with my $10K deposit after some electric wires he cut caused some issues...). SO the project started with some VERY rocky bumps and dragged on months. Jennifer in the store was (although understandably frustrated at times) AMAZING and I paid them to install my new cabinets, pau last week, and I am SUPER happy with their attention to detail, finished result, and customer service. Decent price comparison. Decent quality although one of our cabinets arrived broken. Luckily it was in the back where it wouldn't be seen so I didn't make a big deal. The crew silicone sealed most of the countertop, but I had to finish the job. They did a mostly ok job fitting in our farm sink, which we gave to them for proper measurements. We picked them because they deliver. They were easy enough to get ahold of for questions and we are still happy with our cabinets and countertops. read more

Had my kitchen renovated with all new cabinets, top/bottom with quartz countertops throughout my kitchen. Rui's workers spoke no English and was difficult to communicate without having to call the office periodically. The first mistake was they measured my sink off centered from my kitchen window. It had to be fixed. Then they installed my range hood with a lower measurement to my stove. They also installed the incorrect size cabinet over my liquor counter and the worst was when I found a chip in my quartz counter. Rui insisted that quartz does not chip and it's a strong stone...which is what I was sold on to believe. In order for Rui to receive the final payment, I fought to have him come out to the house and see for himself and had him fix it. Well, I discovered another chip and Rui refuses to come out to the house and take care of the issue. Again, he says quartz does not chip! Until Rui Construction displays professionalism in his work and take care of his clients, I will not recommend this company for their inconsistency of work ethics. read more

RUI is a reputable, honest, and straightforward contractor and does quality work on time and on budget. I was moved to write this after seeing TV reports about unscrupulous contractors who scam naive customers out of thousands of dollars; RUI is not one of these. I did a kitchen remodeling in 2020 and a bathroom renovation in 2021. Prices were more than fair, and workmanship was of the highest caliber. Jennifer provided an estimate and had me sign off prior to beginning work, so there was no confusion about costs or schedules. They even did repairs and rearranged items if I was unsatisfied with anything. The workers worked hard all day and projects were finished ahead of schedule. read more

I purchased granite countertops, a sink, backboard, and installation from RUI a couple years ago because the price was so good. A date was set, and the workers came and set up in my kitchen. There were two guys, and these men spoke NO English and looked like they haven't been out of China for very long. But they were pleasant and didn't seem to have any problems with the installation. At the end of the day, they informed me that they had finished and that they were leaving. I get to the kitchen, only to find a huge hole in my sink where the drain and plumbing should be. NOTHING was installed pertaining to the plumbing. They were leaving me with a kitchen that I couldn't use. So I got on the phone with first the lady, and in very poor English, she shouted at me that "plumbing installation is extra". I told her that is ridiculous to do all that work and then to leave me with a kitchen that I couldn't use. So she passed me the phone to the man, I believed to be the owner. He was even more unpleasant than the woman, and he shouted at me that if I wanted the dishwasher and sink connected it would be $500 more. Are you kidding me? I wasn't getting anywhere, so I just thanked the workers and they left me with an unuseable kitchen. After many Youtube videos and some trial and error, I finally hooked everything up myself, but it left an incredibly bad taste in my mouth. I mean, to spend $3k on a job like that and leave the customer with an unuseable kitchen is just bad business. Those Chinese guys could have hooked up the damn hoses and save me a few hours of ME doing it. But instead, they choose to be cheap and to create an unhappy customer. NOT COOL. read more

We spent four weeks visiting and researching many big box and private construction businesses before deciding on one to complete our kitchen renovation. We wisely chose Rui Construction, and are so happy we did! Sunny, our advisor, was pleasant, courteous, and knowledgeable. The initial and final quote for services was extremely competitive, clearly written, and well within our budget. Sunny took a personal interest in our project and ensured step was professionally accomplished. She patiently helped us choose the cabinet style and counter top design we liked best. Midway through the project I made an add-on request. Sunny quickly responded and ensured the work was done without a hitch. Her communication was great before, during, and after our project was complete. What I found most pleasing about Rui Construction was the attention to detail. When the foreman came to our home to take final measurements he was very precise and attentive. The technicians (who worked really hard to please!) certainly earned their daily pay. They left our home spotless after demolition and completed all installation in only two days. Our beautiful kitchen cabinets are well constructed, sturdy, and very attractive. Our counter tops are tooled within very fine tolerances. The work was done quickly, but again with a very high level of attention to detail. I give Rui Construction my highest recommendation. My wife leads a church group with ladies needing kitchen renovation. They will certainly receive our glowing recommendation to take their business to Rui Construction. We were looking for a dark brown quartz countertop. We went to Lowe's, home depot, and other companies that sold quartz.I found this company in the midweek so I went to the showroom and Jen (sales lady who has a strong Chinese accent) helped us. I seen a countertop that I liked. She gave me the quote and it was almost half the price from Lowe's. I asked why so cheap and she said because they buy in bulk and it comes by slabs. We needed to install this in a week so we ended up buying it. The day of installation there were 2 guys who both don't talk or understand English at all. They asked me you have and pointed to a picture of a measuring tape on their phone so I lend them one. They installed the island with no problems. When it came tothe sink side it looked like they were having trouble. They brought the countertop in and placed it on the ply board and they were looking at it for about couple minutes. Next thing you know one of the installer goes on his phone and starts talking to someone in Chinese. They ended up taking the counter top outside. I looked outside and it seems to me that they were fixing either a crack or scratch. I went online to look up how to fixed a quartz counter top and seen videos. At this point I'm kind of frustrated, I go outside and asked if something was wrong and they just looked at me and continued working. I ended up taking pictures of them and went back into the house. I called Jen and told her what the installers were doing and she told me no no quartz is very strong no can crack. After talking to her the installer told me I come back so I said ok. After 4 hours the installers came back with a new countertop and started working on it. When it came to leveling the countertop they didn't use shims they ripped a piece of cardboard to make it leveled. After he was done installing he said ok I done. Good thing my husband came home. He looked at it and there were some parts that was shiny and found couple scratches and one of the glitter was orange so he told the guy to clean it and buff out the scratches. The installer spent 30 minutes trying to clean it but the countertop looked NOTHING like the showroom. He even took out a blue sharpie to color in the Orange glitter. My husband is pissed and asks to talk to the manger/ owner of the company who's name is Rui. He told my husband he has to come look at it. Rui came and I pointed out all the areas that were ugly and scratched. I asked him what brand of quartz is the countertop and tells me Silestone. He said he can give us $150 refund. I asked him what's the warranty and he told me there is none. Wth I'm pissed. Finally after grumbling he said he can give us $300. We pick up the money from Jen and we asked her what brand is the countertop and she tells me it's from China. Damn if I only knew I would have never gone through them in the first place. read more

We purchased all of our cabinets and countertops from Rui Construction Supply. The service was impeccable from Mr. Rui himself and Jennifer. Prior to making the decision to purchase all the cabinets and countertops from Rui, we went to many supply houses for granite in Honolulu and got estimates for the cabinets from several cabinetmakers. After studying the wide selection available in their warehouse, the granite we chose was Blue Pearl from Norway at an incredibly good price. We have many many stairs to our front door so they sent a huge crew to deliver the countertops and installed the countertops perfectly flat. The maple cabinets were and are stunning. The construction is solid maple - not ply or fiber board with a veneer. Rui constructed two bottom cabinets with lazy susans which are perfect for our pots and pans. One hinge out of dozens developed a problem way over a year after installation and when I couldn't get any other carpenter to properly re- install the single door, Mr. Rui himself came after I made a single call for help and rapidly popped the door back in. Even though I tried to pay, he refused! Rui made our dream kitchen come true. read more

We hired Rui Construction to renovate/remodel the kitchen in a 1961 single wall construction home in Kailua. The renovation included replacement of cabinets and countertops, as well as installing a new tile floor. Rui's team was extremely professional and courteous throughout the entire process. Furthermore, their estimate was the most transparent of any we received, clearly listing all material and labor costs upfront. My wife and I made a number of changes to the original plans and were very thankful for the help and patience that Rui's team provided along the way. The project was completed in 3 days; 1 day for demolition and 2 days for tile, cabinet, and countertop installation. Please do not be concerned over the quickness of their work; their foreman are very efficient, thorough, and precise. We are very happy with the end product; materials and installation methods are top quality. I am in construction and renovating my new condo. After shopping around I found RUI's pricing favorable and I purchased cabinets as supply only, meaning I pick up and install my own. Well you know the story about you pay for what you get...its true again. I am very disappointed with the quality of their assembly, and the overall quality of the product. Some doors are bowed, I have hinge hardware screws that bulge the outside of the boxes (screws too long) therefore needing cover panels they gladly gave me, a couple screws protrude into the boxes from the back, and other screws split the wood causing a bulge you can see from the inside. Jenifer told me no one will notice once you put your things into them (but it still weaken the construction), and the overall finish on the interiors are filled with blemishes and scratches. It seems every corner that could be cut to save money has been taken. After several trips for replacement parts, and re-assembling some boxes, wasting my time, I still ended up with an inferior product. Spending a little more to get a better product would have been much wiser. Let my lesson be your warning. I was going to use them for my Quartz counter-tops, but just can't risk 3K or so to hear more excuses if it doesn't look acceptable. I have never posted a negative review before, but people should know. Never again... read more
