The owner and the other diners were all very friendly, and they gave us, two Chinese travelers just passing through, plenty of warm greetings and kind attention. I especially want to emphasize how clean the place was. The forks and knives were wrapped in napkins and even sealed with a sticker. It was a very standardized and thoughtful practice that immediately made us feel reassured. As for the food, I personally thought the salad was very good and a nice option for keeping calories under control. I ordered the fried cod and fries -- probably a mistake on my part, since I had simply wanted some seafood -- and for a moment it almost made me feel like I was back in the UK. My companion ordered the steak medium rare. As Chinese diners, we are not particularly used to meat cooked that way, but we still finished it. The quality of the meat was good, though it was a little too fatty for us. That is one of those things a typical Chinese stomach can sometimes struggle with. The whole place had a warm, lived-in vibe. The menu said the restaurant had been around since 2001, so that makes 25 years now. It's our first time here. They had a beautiful buffet with fried chicken and meat loaf as the entrees. We decided to order off the menu. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich and my hubby got the French dip. The pork tenderloin sandwich was HUGE and delicious. It came with a side of fries. The French dip had a generous amount of meat and was equally delicious. This place popular with the locals. I believe we were the only tourists. read more

If I would judge solely on my meal I'd give this place 4 stars and the only reason I'm giving them 2 is my French dip was seriously great my green beans pretty good. Which brings me to the rest of the story. This is your typical small town restaurant, smoke from the kitchen grill/deep fryer. That completely turns me off. The room nest door is the "designated smoking". Really? What made it worse there was a totally clueless lady standing in the doorway 4 ft away from us, not smoking, but a cigarette in her hand and completely overtaking my group with her smoke. This place had zero protection, no masks, no hand sanitizer, nothing. And table service but you have to go to the back to pay. The tab isn't separated and it's confusion if with more then one paying party. As I said if no Covid and no smoking section, solely on the food I'd give 4 stars, but not a pleasant place for dining read more

This is a hidden gem in Louisiana. The food was home cooked and the service was great. Was unsure at first but it was nice and clean and very enjoyable. There were 5 of us and each raved about their meal. Will be back for sure. They do close at end of July and first of August for vacation. read more

We had lunch at KC's today. We ordered the buffet and a ribeye sandwich. The buffet was hot and fresh. There was plenty of choices, it was all very good. The salad bar was fresh, cold and also had plenty to choose from. The ribeye was a huge sandwich with melted cheese on fresh bread. The food is delicious and the staff were all friendly. I'm leaving a review because the "Day" waitress Tammy is my sister. She has been working there for atleast 20 years and treats EVERYONE like family and goes far and beyond with your service. Please let me say that the "Ribeye steak sandwich " is fenominal!!. The owner who works in the kitchen has it down pat,every time.. For a very small town like this there food is what I'd expect. I gave it a rating compared to other small towns, if I didn't this place would be 2 star. I had a buffet. The buffet was small. You get a salad bar and a few meat dishes. It's nice to have this place as an alternative of fast food. If your not in a hurry, and I stress that, go to the Eagles Nest restaurant in this town there food is better. read more

Eating at KC's on a cold December Friday night. The place is full of hunters and they have a buffet. I already have a good feeling about this place. Tonight it's all-you-can-eat catfish, cod, roast beef, clams, mashed potatoes, corn and green beans. Obviously this isn't high brow Chicago food, nope this is Missouri and it's pretty good especially the roast beef. It's thinly sliced, tender, moist and well seasoned. If only they had a crusty hoagie bun. If your looking for a stop on the bike while crushing the Illinois river road, take a left at Atlas, across the Mississippi and into Louisiana Mo. This place is terrible. I took my family here for lunch. I had the County Fried Steak. My daughter had the Chicken Tenders and my granddaughter and Husband both had cheese burgers and fries. First off we waited 45mins for our food and there was only 2 other tables beside us. Both my and daughters meal came with one trip to the salad bar. Granddaughter wanted a salad so I ordered her one trip also. Now this salad bar is very basic. The Chicken Fried Steak was very thin and was from frozen. Overcooked and the potatoes were from the day before. Daughter's chicken tenders were tough and chewy. Also when I went to go pay the bill it was 72.00 when I asked for a break down for the bill I seen where I was charged for a salad bar that my husband did not have. When I pointed this out to the cashier/owner she the justify the charge by stating we used the wrong plates that was sitting at the end of the salad bar. Went thinking there was going to be an amazing home style buffet but there wasnt. Still I was not disappointed. I had one of the many evening specials. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans with one trip to the salad bar for $8.50. The salad was very fresh. The potatoes were so good and buttery they may have been the best mashed potatoes I have had. Chicken fried steak was on point and the gravy was perfect. I didn't stop there. Only gave it 1 star so I could post a review. My husband and I went here for the first time on a Friday evening. We ordered a cheese burger and a chicken plate. After an hour of waiting I asked the waitress if I could just pay for his drink and my salad. I will never go back. I wish I could rate the food, but I had none. At least the waitress was nice. This 5 star is for their breaded pork tenderloin. We stopped here on our way to Columbia MO. We asked the lovely server how it was. Her reply..."one of the best in the Midwest". I grew up in southern Indiana. There are 2 things I simply stopped ordering out -- tenderloins and sausage gravy. They just never taste like home. We took a chance. And folks, she did not lie :-). Six hungry Texas boys took a shot in the dark and had a late lunch here. Bullseye! Hamburgers, pork tenderloin sandwiches, and bbq sandwiches were all delicious according to the others. I had the ribeye steak sandwich and, by the time I was through, wanted to order another to take home with me. None of the sandwiches were over ten dollars. Best and most consistent eatery in the area. They easily accommodated our group of 20, even though reservations were only made for 14. Beer & wine was readily available. Waitress remembered all orders without writing them down! All were satisfied with the food. Good value and fair price. read more

I was told this was a good place to eat but it wasn't. The waitress didn't pay attention to our family at all. She was busy talking with another lady I'm guessing near the kitchen. Then she walked over and said "what do you want?" and then barely came back to us. Very unprofessional. The food on the buffet was so so. Not worth the money we spent on our meal at all. They need a new wait staff. I will say the food is great, but the service is some of the worst I've seen. And this is not just a one time experience, but three separate occasions. We love the food, but sadly won't be back. We were there last night and it was just the last straw. We had to get up and ask for refills and order our Togo order, and the waitress was behind the counter counting her tips instead of taking care of us. My husband never got the beer he ordered. The first two times we ate there, we had a young, blonde waitress who acted like she had much better things to do than to be there. She was smug and not helpful at all. Even worse, the owner has been there all three times and these only stepped in to help one out of the three times we were there. It seems they are all more concerned with closing down and getting out of there early than taking care of customers. We are really good tippers too, so that is not the problem. We will tip 30-40% for good service. read more

If you catch them Wednesday at lunchtime you have to try the chicken strip buffet. Great chicken, mashed potatoes and macaroni. Any other time, get the steak sandwich. You will not be disappointed. If you feel like pizza, theirs is great too. read more

The first problem was smoke. If you're allergic or can't tolerate it, don't eat here. They have 3 store fronts with the middle one being "smoke free." That doesn't work well when the smoking section is open to the non smoking section and the kitchen door into the bar area is kept open, creating a draft full of smoke through the non smoking area. Any other problems - low salad bar, excessive time until meal came out, etc - were easily explained by how busy they were. The food was good, as long as you ordered off the menu. The buffet wasn't as good. I suppose some of that may have been because it was "sea food" but I'd rather you not make it if you can't make it well. read more

We ordered the hot wings for an appetizer and they were very meaty and the wing sauce was good. I had the ribeye steak sandwich which I read was good from other review sites. It was more than good! Loved it! It ended up being a sandwich I started craving a few days later. The salad bar was small but had exactly everything on it I like on my salad. I also loved the ranch dressing, it wasn't that nasty buttermilk ranch. Service was great and very friendly. The ambiance is something to be desired though. I'd definitely go back. read more
