    Burger and Steak Fries
    Kailyn V.

A late night craving turned into one of the best burgers I've had in town. This right here is what a burger is suppose to look like, big, juicy, and full of flavor. Cooked perfectly with a side of steak fries and a nice pickle crunch. This picture doesn't give this meal any justice on the size of this thing. I was pretty full halfway through, had to take a break before i went back and finished the entire thing. I was definitely stuffed but it was worth it.

Little diners ALWAYS have the best breakfast! Get. The. Pancakes!! They are the most delicious pancakes! Food: Delicious! Service: Awesome! This is your typical mom & pop old school diner. No frills, not fancy by any means, just great food & service. As we walked in you could here the music playing. Good music, not too loud, the right volume that set the mood for the amazing food experience we were about to have! We sat at the counter and were promptly greeted. I picked the "Hungry Man" which had 2 eggs, choice of sausage/bacon, grits/harshbrowns and biscuit/toast. This meal included 2 pancakes It was made to order and came out quickly. Everything was hot, fresh, plentiful and most importantly, delicious! Pancakes were fluffy, sausage had a perfect little spicy kick, eggs were cooked as ordered, hash browns were just the right amount of soft & and little crispy We are coming back to try their lunch items before we head back home. Want good food? Eat here!!

We popped in for some breakfast and a cup of coffee, and we really enjoyed the cozy old-school diner atmosphere! The coffee was hot and absolutely delicious. I tried the KD special (small) with one scrambled egg with cheese, bacon, grits, and a biscuit. The grits were tasty but could use a pinch more salt for my preference. My husband went for the large KD special, which came with two eggs over hard, crispy bacon, hash browns, and toast. The bacon was just perfect! The service was fantastic too. We would definitely recommend this place!

Talk about tasty - KD's hit the spot for sure! Had about 4 hours to spend in Lake Charles before hitting the road out of state, and I'm glad to have spent some of that time at KDs. The poboy was exactly what I needed to remind me of good, south Louisiana food...messy, tasty, and worth every bite. The service was typical, with us not having to wait for much. The ambiance can seem off-putting, but that's the aesthetic of KD's. Don't miss this place!

It is seldom that I give anything but upscale dining 5-stars however, in this case I had to make an exception! Hole-in-the-wall and greasy spoon always gets my attention and this time it did NOT disappoint. If there is not a table available in this small, limited seating establishment you might have to stand a few minutes but totally worth it. Luckily, the regulars don't spend too much time "camping" after their meal at this coveted establishment and seem to respect those patiently waiting. We were second in line when the parking lot was full and waited under 5 minutes. Our server "Jaden" was attentive and quick to greet us and get our drinks but did not rush us. The food was hot and delivered from the kitchen very, very quickly and my over-medium eggs were cooked to perfection! The gravy was delicious, the bacon crisp and cooked evenly. The stand-out show-stopper was the biscuits!!! Melt-in-your-mouth luxuriousness! My husband and I will usually share a breakfast since neither of us like to eat early however, this is one time I am glad I had my own. This Lake Charles staple is open 24-hrs. Can't wait to get back and try their regular menu as well.

Super cute atmosphere. It's an old building, but clean and kept with lots of personality. The bathrooms were very clean and tiny. The weight staff are very friendly, pleasant and attentive. The coffee was HOT and delicious and so were the pancakes. I would highly recommend this place even if you want to just sit and have coffee at the little bar. They also have a little area that you can play video slot machines if you're over 18 The decor was super cute, stainless windows, decorative ceiling, tiles, and other touches. The music playing with someone's personal playlist, which added to the personal casual comfortable and welcoming environment. I absolutely love my experience at KD's

We came in the morning after visiting the Golden nugget the night before, the breakfast was good, but nothing different than Denny's or IHOP. The service was OK there is nothing here or there about this place. A cute little country place with typical food.

Great food and friendly fast service. Can't beat the prices. The atmosphere is very laid back, like a mom & pops restaurant. 5***** every time.

The best thing this place is KD's Special poboy (with grilled jalapenos). It's probably the only thing about Lake Charles I miss.

We arrived just a couple minutes after their 11 a.m. opening, and the place was already packed, a good sign in itself. Luckily, with only three of us, the hostess got us seated at a table right away. The exterior isn't much to look at, but stepping inside tells a different story. The interior has a sports bar meets old school diner vibe, with decor that gives the whole place a nostalgic, lived-in charm. We all decided on the Darrell's Special sandwich with jalapeño mayo, and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was fantastic the whole meal, constantly checking in, keeping our drinks filled, and making sure we didn't need anything else. Despite how busy the place was, our sandwiches came out in a surprisingly short time. The sandwich itself is a beast! A toasted, loaded bun stacked with ham, turkey, and roast beef (which I hear is made in-house), all topped with roast beef gravy, American, Swiss, and provolone cheeses, lettuce, mustard, and your choice of regular or jalapeño mayonnaise, of course we had the Jalapeño Mayo. The first bite reminded me of a warm French dip, but that impression quickly gave way to layers of different meat flavors, rounded out by the subtle heat of the jalapeño mayo. It practically melted in my mouth. Honestly, I wanted to finish the whole thing, but I didn't want to need to be rolled out of the building, so I boxed up the second half and enjoyed it again for dinner. Great food, great service, and now I understand what all the buzz was about.

The menus are on the table but you really don't need a menu here since there are only a few items. Everyone comes here for po-boys obviously and they have a few to choose from. The top 2 choices are the most common, the special and the surf and turf. To me, what makes a good po-boy, is the bread....like many other sandwiches. If you have great bread, you're usually making a good sandwich. I tried the small special, while the rest of the table tried either the special or surf and turf. They don't have a formal kids menu, but they just have either PB&J or grilled cheese. We tried the grilled cheese. My fav ended up being the surf and turf due to it being cleaner to eat and more variety of taste and texture between the bread. I liked the special, but I forgot to ask the server to remove the American cheese, so it made it taste funny and would have been better without it.

The inside is beautiful, the dining areas and bar looked immaculate, the staff were friendly and attentive, so we assumed we would have an excellent meal. After getting our shrimp and artichoke dip appetizer, we realized the tortilla chips were stale and proceeded to eat the dip with just our forks. We shared a fried chicken breast main dish and a side Caesar salad. The salad croutons were picked off because we noticed those were also stale and chewy - this made the salad edible at least. Our chicken came out and we both immediately noticed it tasted funny, like a soapy dish water marinade. The breading was edible but sadly we couldn't make a meal out of it. So we left hungry and added this location to our list of places never to visit again when we are in the area. I don't know what this location is doing that can't be replicated from the other more popular location, but having the advantage of being one of the few restaurants open on Sunday, I would suggest management fix whatever is happening in the kitchen so they might succeed long term.
