We checked with a Chuck native friend who recommended this for a lunch stop between Houston and Baton Rouge. Solid choice. First time in downtown LC, and it was very pleasant. The restaurant is easy to find. Got a parking spot right out front so can't speak to how easy it generally is to find parking. The restaurant vibe is great. Walls lined with framed concert posters. Service was friendly and efficient. We had the crawfish stuffed avocado appetizer. Good, but probably would not order again. Husband had the shrimp burger which came with six nice shrimp and he had the jalapeño bun. I had the Nola red snapper sliders. Snapper was very good. Both sandwiches had some remoulade sauce, his had mushrooms. I wish the seasoning had been kicked up a notch. The fries were excellent. read more

This place is so cool. Like so cool, I didn't expect much from the food because the drinks and decor are so awesome. Wow, was I wrong! My friend and I split the Bourdain salad for an app, it was so good. My entree, the hanger steak was so good. My friend loved her fillet. The food was very good. The interior was entertaining and interesting. The hostess was overtly rude and disrespectful. As we walked in and stated 2 for dinner, she gave us the most exaggerated eye roll and then smirked and laughed as she turned to look at the other 2 young girls also standing and greeting customers. This behavior continued every time that she walked past our table at least 5 times. We became a little uncomfortable but decided to ignore it. As I said the food was good. It appeared that a somewhat unfriendly behavior spread to other servers as well as they displayed angry expressions. Not acceptable at all, and such a shame and unnecessary. read more

I picked this restaurant based on their interesting menu. I tried the crawfish filled fried avocado first. It was really good. It has a firm breading with a layer of avocado, a bunch of cheese, crawfish and seasonings. It has a sauce outside and is nicely garnished. I really enjoyed it! There was enough avocado and crawfish. The cheese was gooey! The sauce has a sweet hint of something. It was all really interesting and good! Next I get the dragon yellowfin tuna, medium rare. It was also very good. The fish was really firm which surprised me, although I don't know why. It was well prepared, cooked about a quarter inch on each side and not cold in the middle. I enjoyed the sauce which I thought would be spicy but was on the sweeter side. I also got the creamed spinach which was ok, it contained mushrooms which was a surprise! Both were good but given the menu I'd branch out further next time. The staff was friendly and attentive. The place is clean and welcoming. The bar area is separate from the dining room so I didn't really see that area. The prices are more than reasonable! Definitely worth a try!! read more

Food poisoning. I had a very concerning experience with this restaurant. My friend and I ordered food last night, and about an hour after eating, he began feeling unwell. Within two hours, he was vomiting and all night vomiting he wasn't able to rest at all. It was so hard to watching him go through that. Because of this, I chose not to eat my meal out of concern for my own health. I returned the next day to request a refund for the uneaten food, explaining the situation. Unfortunately, the general manager refused the refund and also declined to come out and speak with me directly, which I found very unprofessional given the seriousness of the situation. I understand that things can happen, but I expected better customer service and accountability. This experience has made me question the food safety and customer care at this establishment. read more

I stopped in here to eat a late bite with friends on the Saturday of White Linen Night. We were seated right away. I ordered a cup of the Crab & Corn Bisque for my Appetizer. It was thick, rich and super tasty. I ate every bite. I also ordered the Apollo Appetizer for my Main. The Fried Shrimp were battered and cooked just right, the Avocado slices were the perfect amount of ripe and the Apollo Sauce was so good, I scraped up all of my leftovers so none of it went to waste. Visiting Lake Charles for the day and stopped by Luna's for dinner! Cute place with space themed stuff and posters everywhere. I had the Pearl Jam to drink which was by far one of the more delicious drinks I've had at a restaurant. To eat we had the crawfish bread, steak with crabmeat, chicken Ella, and Fire of Pluto sandwich. Everyone was pleased with their meals! I am quite literally professing my love to this restaurant. I'm a Lake Charles native, and every single time I'm home... Luna gets better and better. At first glance, it's in a perfect location in downtown LC. We usually eat outside because of how perfectly shaded it is, but we decided to eat inside today. The restaurant is covered in art and pictures, which my family absolutely loved. We were greeted by our super sweet server, Chanela, and she was amazing throughout the whole experience. From recommendations to anticipating what we needed before we even asked, she's our go-to now! Alright, the FOOD. The showstopper. The spinach and artichoke dip was literally beautiful... until we demolished it, that is. It was like an orchestra for the tastebuds. I'm considering moving back home solely for that dip. I kid you not. Lastly, the Pluto Fires sandwich. You'd think, "oh, spicy chicken sandwich. Been there, done that." Nope. I've been to Luna Bar and Grill Downtown hundreds of times for lunch and dinner, but this was my first time experiencing their Sunday brunch--and let me just say, it was absolutely worth it! I ordered the Omelette Magnolia, and it was nothing short of incredible. The fluffy omelette was packed with fresh boudin, lump crabmeat, and sautéed mushrooms, all topped with the most flavorful basil cream sauce. It was perfection on a plate! The creamy grits were seasoned just right and paired perfectly with the omelette, while the side of boudin was rich, savory, and so satisfying that it could easily stand on its own. As always, the staff (Lance) was welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere was as cozy and inviting as ever. After this brunch experience, I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner! After 15 minutes another couple gets seated after receiving a text. We asked the 2 hostess that were standing right beside us if we needed to provide a phone number. She replied oh yea we have to check you in.. 10 minutes later we get seated at a table that was CLEAN AND PREPARED when we walked in 25 minutes ago. Maybe our fault but then realized it was a limited brunch only menu now at 12:30 on a Sunday. Not an option to order from a normal menu. Instead of having 2 hostess and a waiter hanging out at the front while parties are waiting either start seating or waiting tables. Seat us, explain the kitchen is busy etc..offer us a damn drink. OK, so I've been meaning to give this place a review since I went. I recently moved close to the location by Rouses off of Nelson Road. I was excited to go check out Luna's bar and Grill. We arrived it was not packed it was pretty slow. We ordered a cheeseburger with fries to share. Basically I was gonna eat it all. We were just looking for something to eat and we had heard that Lunas had really good burgers. However, and the burger came there was no cheese. So we said something. They said we will add cheese added cheese was so cold, no flavor. Nasty! Manager was rude, argued with guest. Food is not top quality as they say. I wouldn't come back here. I wish the other restaurant would of stayed. The Oak restaurant, but they put this chain restaurant what a waste. I will not be wasting money nor time at this establishment. This place is seriously cool and I couldn't love it more. It is a vibe, y'all. I'm talking jazz band playing, toe tapping and head bobbing to the beat VIBE. Exposed brick walls are always a pleasing aesthetic and here they are plentiful and adorned with an eclectic mix of Jazz Fest posters, cool album covers and local art. Oh, just the coolest restaurant setting in Lake Charles I've been to...no big deal ;) Whatever you order here is sure to please your palette but you must try the Galactic Crab Dip. It. Is. Heavenly. Can they do anything right???? I ordered a sandwich a few weeks ago and asked for no mushrooms or tomatoes. Honestly I'm making it easier for them, just don't do all the extra work. I also asked to add pickles. But they ended up putting everything on there, mushrooms tomatoes and pickles. What if I was allergic? They just weren't going to care? I didn't even eat it since it was ruined Fast forward to today, I figured I'd try again. I ask for the exact same thing. They take off the things I don't want, but this time they don't add pickle.
