Jamie was sweet, friendly, knew what she was doing and helped me figure out what to do with my hair. Then she did exactly what I was hoping for and expected based on our conversation. Plus, she was easy to talk to! Sometimes I feel a bit like a hostage getting my hair cut - at the mercy of whoever is holding the scissors. Not with Jamie. All the other stylists seemed equally friendly. Bonus: great prices. My cut was only $35 (tip not included of course). Granted it was nothing super complicated, but still. Say goodbye to my old salon and stylists . After messing it up!!!! My hair Cut was too short and choppy with no texture. I went back twice to my stylist to fix it and he just made it worse. I literally was in tears, I was very disappointed. I wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. This has been the only salon I've been to since they've opened. Walking out I feel great, because I look great. During my many visits here I've seen walk-ins, wedding parties, kids, and local celebrities leave with a smile because of the quality and caring efforts of Kemal, Elena, and the girls. The hype is real! Based on the fantastic yelp reviews, I went to this place on my birthday in late October to get a cut and color. The atmosphere of this place was nice, nothing too fancy, but the artwork was a nice touch. I'm always a little wary about coloring my hair because I work in a professional atmosphere. I needed to strike the perfect balance between a change big enough to feel fresh and new and not so big that it felt out of place. They nailed it with the color. It came out exactly like the swatch they recommended for me. The cut was also excellent. You could tell they were taking the time to provide a very precise cut. I had a huge boost of confidence in the few weeks following my cut. One of my other hangups about getting color treatment done is the expense. I'm not one to typically spend much on my hair so I always get a bit of sticker-shock from the cost of getting this done. In retrospect, it was completely worth it because they did such good work here. The color is still strong three months later and I guarantee this is where I'll be going should I want this done again. read more

I am so HAPPY I found this salon! Elena did a wonderful job on my hair. I have short, but very thick hair, with highlights. I have a challenging time getting colorists to give me enough blonde to my liking and she did a wonderful job. I felt instantly comfortable with her and knew she would take good care of me. If I could give this salon less than one star I would. Worst haircut I have ever had. Jamie was a really sweet person but she does not know how to do hair. My hair is about 3 inches shorter than I wanted and I somehow left with chunky bangs side bangs when I asked for long layers. I specifically said I do not want bangs! Even if I wanted bangs they are horrible!! And need to be fixed. I am going to a different salon to get my hair fixed. That's how bad my haircut was. Would never recommend her to anyone. read more

KE Salon is very clean, hair stylists are very talented and on top of everything their rates are extremely reasonable (it's almost a steal considering the service you receive). It's so obvious that their hair stylists have been in business for many years. I go for my haircut to Kemal ( a true artist) every three weeks even though it takes me 45 minutes to get to the shop. I just visited this salon for the first time, and I'm so glad I did! I had a hair cut from Petya, who got me in for an appointment with only half an hour notice (which I love... I never plan!). My hair was past my shoulders, and I decided I wanted to chop it all off into a longish pixie cut. I didn't bring in a picture, but Petya went through a few style books with me to make sure she understood what I wanted. She did an AMAZING job! And the cut was only $25! After reading all of the great reviews online, I decided to give KE Salon a go. I was not disappointed! I called on a Monday around 11 and was easily booked for a 1pm appointment that same day. The lovely Camelia was my stylist, and she was terrific! She was very friendly and gave me exactly what I wanted. My hair hadn't been cut in a while, so the split ends had gotten pretty bad; also, the bottom had become awkwardly bulky, giving my hair a one-dimensional sort of look. Camelia trimmed away all the nasties and then gave me some new layers to help reshape my hair and give it more dimension. Afterwards, she went straight into blowdrying and styling my hair; at first this made me nervous, because I've been to other salons where styling after the haircut adds a hefty extra cost. To my surprised delight, the total cost was only $35! Then I tipped a little over %20 of that. I'm new to Chicago, but even I know that's a great deal for a city. I didn't have to enter the cold outdoors with wet hair, and Camelia styled it so magically, with gentle waves, that I felt like a supermodel the whole walk home.
