She understands what works best on a person based on face shape, skin color etc. and has solid instincts. She's willing to experiment with new looks if the client requests it. I've heard good things about Supreme Beauty Parlor ever since it first opened on/off Manor. A good friend of mine went and was thrilled with the service she received. But at the time, I had a salon and stylist who I was extremely happy with. We had a bond and she really understood my hair and the issues I was having with it. Sadly, our relationship came to an end when she decided to start a family and move to Wisconsin. I was heartbroken....and then very anxious at the thought of trying to find a new salon. Enter, Christina at SBP. Many of my neighbors are also big fans of Supreme as well. I decided to give it a go. How great would it be to be able to walk over to get my hair did, I thought. After speaking with a gal on the phone and explaining my issues, she booked me with Christina. I was thrilled b/c I had heard many good things and knew she was also the owner. Well, I am happy to report that I think I found my new salon. Christina made me feel at ease and really seemed to listen to my concerns. It was also nice to chat with a fellow Manor-ite. THIS is the best cut yet!" and then I return a couple of months later and THAT becomes the best cut yet! I've been stressed. The kind of miserably stressed where I'm not taking time for myself, not taking care of myself because everything is "Now, now, right now, NOW!" I look like the walking dead- need a haircut, a manipedi, a nap and the ultimate luxury of time for all of this. I literally had a near-sexual dream of completely uninterrupted hair washing and drying. Because that is impossible at home. I actually can't remember the last time this happened. When Boyfriend said "Baby, I bought you salon time" and I cried. Christina cut my hair, styled it beautifully and made me feel gorgeous. I have a lot of dark hair. It grows crazy-fast. It is simultaneously baby-fine and really greasy if not washed daily. Many times, telling a stylist layers will only look stringy or frazzled get ignored and I wind up hacking it myself with kitchen scissors to some ridicule. Or the layers break off and look a constant ponytailed mess. Also, heavily styled processes are never going to happen. I have no interest in perms, big volume, dying it purple, I do not own a curling iron, a straightening iron resided years in unopened packaging under the sink and rarely have the time to even plug in the one hair dryer I own. I trust beautiful Christina and did not feel rushed or like any requests were unreasonable- which is great. So often told "we are going to do what you don't want anyway and then apply 40 super-greasifying products..." Not here! To have that confidence is rewarding- Thank you so much for listening to me. it makes me so happy to come here! The space is comfortable and the vintage decor is charming and fun. Feels like the set of Mad Men making for escapism and my goodness the reading is delightful. My hair looks clean, smooth, sleek and soft. I visited Supreme Beauty Parlor for my daughters' haircut for the first time. They both love the way their new hair looks. They worked diligently with them just like how they would with adults. The space is not huge but very cute. I was offered for a drink - water or tea or wine. I was good so I didn't take it but it was my first time getting offered some wine. They have a dog in the salon so be aware anyone who do not care for it. Though, he is super gentle and sweet. I wanted to come home with him. read more

In fact, I drive 45 minutes to Supreme Beauty Parlor every 2 months or so for a cut and highlights with Sonya. She's got an artist's touch and has given me adorable short and medium cuts. She's also helped me through a graceful grow-out stage--right now my hair is just past my shoulders and growing. I've been getting my hair done by Christina, the owner, for about 2 years now. I will not have anyone else near my locks. She is absolutely amazing and takes so much pride in her work. I have VERY thick hair and when she first started working on it was an unruly, damaged colored mess. Now it's healthy, I'm always complimented on it and asked where to go. I have a very simple criterion for whether I will return to a hair-cutter joint: whether or not they give me a good haircut. And Christina always does, so I'm a regular now. You know how some places have a haircut that they give all the guys? You tell them what you want, they nod, then do what they do to everyone? Well, not this place. They listen and do a good job achieving your coiffure vision. I make it harder than it probably needs to be on Christina and she always accommodates my narcissism. Her recent hire, Nicole, did my last one, and she did a great job, too. Now, if you're into all the "other" stuff, this place has that, too. Like I said, Christina is super cool and easy to joke with. Her fella, Ross, is always around, and he's cool, too. And big dogs. And beer! And she usually has good music playing too. Such a great place! Total gem of a salon. I walked in with unruly, overgrown locks, showed her a few pics, and walked out looking and feeling the best I've felt in seemingly forever. I went there after reading all the positive reviews. Christina is friendly and offered me tea indeed. Very nice. I brought the photo of what I want and she told me she could "certainly" do it. The haircut on the photo was a challenging one, I was surprised she did not say something like "I will try". But she said "certainly". She cut my hair way too short than what was on the photo and I left $45 and with a nice short, pretty simple haircut. I was given a bunch of explanations in the end of how my hair is different (too thick, too wavy). Ah, yes. She actually thought that she replicated the haircut on the picture. Chances are, she actually did NOT see the difference between what she did and what was on the picture I brought. So, nice place. Very relaxing. Benefits the neighborhood. Normally I would break into tears after being cut much shorter. My hair grows very slowly. But i wanted to be nice, since Christina is such a kind woman. So, go ahead and give it a try. Just do not expect too much in terms of actual haircut and ask for something simple. She will do what she can. read more

I absolutely adore this salon. Supreme Beauty Parlor is a hidden gem right off the Francisco Brown Line stop. From the train station you can see the salon front and the pop of turquoise on the wall one of the first things to catch my attention. Inside the salon it has a 60s flare which caters to my love of anything vintage and retro. I had my hair colored and styled by the owner and stylist, Cristina, and I love it! Cristina is a great stylist. She takes the time to ask questions about what you would like done to your hair. In the past, I've had stylists be rather curt on questions asking at most 2 questions which would result in me being rather upset or disappointed in my style because I didn't get what I wanted. With Cristina, that is not the case. As I stated before, she takes the time to get to know you and hair. These are definitely traits that I would I want to find in a stylist. A perfect example of this was when I went from mid-back length hair to a pixie because I needed a dramatic change so, I contacted Cristina showing interest. Upon consultation, she asked many questions to make sure that this is what I wanted and gave recommendations of what short styles would suit my face and personal flare. Been rocking the pixie cut ever since. Additionally, the salon carries a local beauty supply line, Bomber Betty Custom Cosmetics. Being a fan of the retro look, winged eye liner and the red lip, I was curious of the quality of the line. I was able to test/swatch a number of the lipsticks and I had to buy one. The texture is smooth and moisturizing as well as natural, paraben-free and cruelty-free. One random bonus of this salon that I haven't seen in any other in the city was while I waited I was asked if I would like a cup of coffee. Usually in salons, I sit awkwardly silent with the other clients and offered nothing or, in the off chance, I would be offered the rare cup of water. So, being a coffee drinker, my ears perked. This charming neighborhood gem has adorable style and pizzazz! I originally scheduled for simple highlights, as I could not get to my usual salon. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place! Cristina has the entire place decorated in a funky retro style right down to the couches, lighting, colors, etc. Everything is cozy and welcoming. She gave me beautiful color and cut, which made my hair feel so healthy again. She and her partner Sonya are obviously close and personable with all their clients in this neighborly area. I was able to see awesome hair transformations while I was sitting there, including wild cuts with vibrant colors as well as clean and classy styles. I'm more on the conservative end of the spectrum with greater concern for the health of my hair, and Cristina definitely delivers! She also focuses on her continuing education and chooses her products wisely. She has helped me sample and choose the best products for my hair. I spent this whole week looking forward to my highlight and haircut, and she definitely delivered and gave me exactly what I needed! I've gone for several cuts and highlights at this time. They recently moved to a larger salon a few blocks over on Montrose, and I was pleased that they were able to retain all the adorable charm while claiming a larger and more open space. Looking back at photos, I am not proud of how my hair used to look before I started seeing Sonya! 6 years ago my hair was somewhere between orange and fried blond - she helped me get back to a healthy cut with beautiful natural-looking highlights. Over the years, she has also indulged my penchant for change, from a short, light bob with bangs to a longer, darker look (lower maintenance with a toddler these days!). Just as important, I love my visits with Sonya - she makes it easy to relax in the chair for a couple of hours and chat on everything from the best Netflix binge watches to beauty tips (sometimes with wine :) ). Two words....AWE - SOME! I have gone to the same hair place for 12 years and had no intentions of making a change until I saw the cute haircuts that my neighbor and her daughters got at SBP! I called to see if I could get a trim quickly before leaving on a business trip. Cristina opened early to help me out. She gave me the BEST haircut I have ever had. Sonya rocks. So does Supreme. After my stylist moved, my kids and I were on the hunt. She took us all in at the same time. Supreme is steps from the train, so it was super convenient. First she wrangled my son (7) who had a thick, way overgrown cheap chop and turned it into an awesome, stylish cut. Not a 'kiddie' cut or one where it's all the same length. It looked great and has grown out well a several months later. Then my daughter (5) who had never had anything but a trim before wanted her first short cut. We unraveled braids and unleashed the hairstorm. Sonya didn't just spray it down, she gave her the full shampoo treatment (which my daughter loved) and then she worked her magic. I was really nervous that she'd end up with a boring bob. But she took the weight out of the back and gave it a slight angle forward. It's adorable. You get it.
