Any boxes, papers, fabric, etc. near the front will be ruined by repeatedly being wet. -1 star: Dust - I don't know where the dust came from, but it was so thick that anything not sealed in a box will be covered in it. Its not just regular dust either, its more like fine gravel that blows in from the parking lot. I can't figure out how it gets all the way to the back of the unit, but it did. -1 star: Mice - I had no food in my unit whatsoever, but the mice made homes in most of my cardboard boxes, making a nice nest and defecating all over my stuff. Luckily they kept away from the boxes that were wet all the time. When I moved out I filled a shoe box with mice nests and droppings, and cleaned the unit up real nice for Fort Knox. -1 star: Cost increase - they increase your rates after you've already signed the agreement and move in. They do have the courtesy of sending a letter informing you of this, at least. - 1 star: After 115 days, I have not been refunded my deposit. I've gone to their office 2 times, and called and left messages 5 times. No one in the office knows about deposits, and no one ever calls me back when I leave messages. Finally today I got a letter that they are keeping my $130 deposit because I didn't give them 10 days notice of cancellation. I guess I could have paid $152 for the next month to get my $130 deposit back... oh wait, that would be stupid. You win. The good: It was a room, that I could put stuff in and some of it wasn't ruined. +1/2 star!

We had been loyal customers for ten years…read more When we decided to clear out on the (agreed upon) last day of the month we found that they had changed the lock on us claiming non receipt of payment for the previous month! In good faith we immediately re-issued a second check clearly stating on the check that it would replace the original check that wasn't received (this 2nd check was delivered to them personally). After clearing out we returned the keys by leaving them in the storage space as instructed. The 2nd check was cashed AND SO WAS THE ORIGINAL CHECK when it was received days later! Now they won't refund us for the over-payment claiming we didn't return the keys AND they are also charging us an additional $50 claiming they needed to get a locksmith to get into the space. Now is the way to treat a loyal customer? I think not.

Some people online have been waiting even longer. Every time I call, I'm told the local office doesn't handle deposits and that they'll contact the higher office, but nothing happens. They hold customers accountable for late payments, they don't miss that,but there's no accountability when it comes to returning deposits. This company is quick to charge fees but extremely slow to fulfill their obligations.

Even so, they demanded every penny to which they claimed they were "contractually" entitled. That I didn't get the benefit of my side of the bargain didn't matter. I paid every dime they demanded but just decided to go back to the more expensive unit I already had. Sometimes you get what you pay for. At the very least, don't sign the papers without inspecting the unit. I trusted them and got burned. (Not that this happened to me -- OK, obviously, it did.) Some years back I had to put an apartment full of stuff (including several hundred books) into storage, pronto, and a friend who kept some of her belongings there suggested Vernon, for which I am extremely grateful. The storage units are large and secure, and I was able to fit everything into one unit. It was just about the only thing that worked well at a crummy time. I've kept the unit for the past four years, with no problems at all. The rates are great and the people who work there are really nice and friendly. It's month-to-month, so at some point when I need all that stuff again, I can go and get it, without breaking a contract and paying a fee. That's handy, too.

Sal and his team are friendly, respectful and professional. Sal not only makes sure everything runs smoothly, taking no short cuts on the safety of property, he is right there with his team helping (assembling/disassembling, wrapping and carrying the furniture and boxes. Pricing is reasonable; however, no credit cards are welcomed so make sure you have cash. It is without hesitation that I recommend Sal's Freight Carrier.
