If Sacramento ever needed a new motto (we've gone from "City of the Trees" to "Farm‑to‑Fork"), I'd…read morenominate "Good Enough." With so many State employees, "good enough for government work" fits a little too well. We've gained better boba spots since the pandemic, though still not at the Bay Area level. And from all the Bay Area people that I've met, they like Sac's housing prices, but miss their favorite restaurants. The Bay Area also has better board‑game cafes, but after my visit to Galaxy Game Cafe, I can say this one feels right at home, and that's good enough in the best possible way. (If you don't know, there's been a trend of Bay Area people moving to Sac). My friend suggested we check it out; he'd been before and enjoyed it. My first impression, was the "X" in "Galaxy" cleverly mimicking an X‑wing. Inside, a gallery of Star Wars 3.75" figures greeted us, with display cases thoughtfully placed throughout the store. It's a fun theme, and the shop fully embraces its geeky niche. A quick glance around the room revealed a game-focused layout. I was surprised because when I hear "cafe," I usually picture coffee, pastries, and light lunch options. If you just want a snack, Galaxy Game Cafe has you covered although there's no blue milk offered. My desire for more food variety was quickly forgotten once I looked at their game selection. I've been to game cafes where pieces are missing, boxes are dirty, or things are disorganized; the kind of place where you end up focusing more on your food than the game. Here, it was the opposite. I enjoyed my snacks and the games. In my small sample size (Dice Forge and Kronologic), everything felt like new. Out of curiosity, I checked Heat for expansions, but they seem to stick to base games, and again, everything looked liked like new. After we finished playing, I placed our games on the return shelf and realized they care enough to check. I appreciated the care they put into maintaining a good gaming experience- isn't that good enough? If you are in the area, I highly recommend them! They also list their board game collection on BGG: https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/GalaxyGameCafe

We came in to check out their amazing Star Wars figure displays and more importantly buy some new games. The owners made some great recommendations for our upcoming family gatherings. Well priced and a better buy than going to Amazon or a big box store. SUPPORT SMALL FAMILY BUSINESSES! Check them out for your holiday shopping- great unique t shirt selection, kitschy items and stocking stuffer ideas, puzzles and games for ALL ages.

Nice local trading card and fighting game store…read more Before they opened this store, I had to go out of town to play the TCG that I recently got into. Now I get to come here and help grow the community. The store is right off of the freeway and next to the Cardenas grocery store. Being part of a big shopping center, there is plenty of parking. The store itself is on the smaller side. There are about 32+ table spots for TCG players. So there are usually 2+ different TCGs playing during organized play. The tables are pretty close together, so be prepared to squeeze through if you're on the inside. I don't know too much about the fighting game side of things, but there are a variety of cabinets and consoles set up around the store with several games to play. You're free to play them if they're open, but donations are welcomed. I believe they have organized play for admission on certain days. They have stock and singles of most of the TCGs they play at the store. They also have accessories for FGCs. There's also TCG accessories, clothing, toys, and claw machines. The owners are really nice and also listen to their players as they develop as a store moving forward. I look forward to where the store goes in the future.

But, I was delighted to find this business capable of fulfilling this need. A call to the business was promptly & cordially answered. Followed up with a visit to purchase said accessories. I only went to this store for their card show once but why put $50 and scalp a Gundam ST05 starter…read moredeck? Gundam or Bandai TCG players, NEVER SIGN UP/PARTICIPATE at this store. The owner is rude to my friend via DMs, doesn't know how to price Bandai TCG product and MOSTLY is just hungry for the money. That's very unprofessional, petty-like, and you're really making it hard to get product if you're going to scalp a single flipping deck. That's not how business works. If you're planning to put product at that price range, I suggest do your research more carefully by looking at recent sales on TCGPlayer or EBay. NOT putting at a price that you really want. $50? I'm not buying that. And you really told my friend not to show up/participate if you want to leave it at $50? That's very ridiculous. It's $20-35, my dude. FOR A DECK. Nope.

In my original post, I was waiting for my OP-05 pre-order (2 cases) and had trusted them since they…read moredid me solid for OP-04. Fast forward to Jan 2025, I decided to request a refund because it seemed like there was no end in sight in regards to ever receiving my pre-order. Store kept saying they expect shipment but provided no visibility and I only got this information after I reached out 5+ months later (they never send updates). On January 2025, the store said they put me in a queue for refunds and that a "handful" of people were in front of me. After waiting for about a month, I reached out again on Feb 2025 and only after multiple emails did they respond back saying they haven't reached me in the queue (no visibility on where I stand in the queue or how long it will take). Fast forward to March and April, they just flat out ignore all my emails sent in March and have yet to get back to me. The lack of response and long time it is taking to get a refund leads me to believe the following: 1. Intentionally ignoring me (if they aren't, they do a terrible job of communicating) 2. My pre-order money was spent elsewhere which is why they can't refund me right away. 3. They are possibly leading me on with false promise of refund by have no intentions of doing so. TLDR: Store has scammed me out of a couple thousand dollars as of this post. Would not recommend purchasing anything from here because of bad customer service and lack of communication. I have reported to BBB and FTC to get my money back from these people. Also reported to State Attorney General Consumer Affairs as well. Recommend that other people who are in this situation do as well.
