I love this place!! The staff is always friendly and helpful and never rude. I have rented a theatre for group occasions, and we had nothing but fun. Granted, this theatre has aged, but it has charm and they do a great job keeping it clean and nice. I love coming here to watch all my movies. The concession stands had just what we needed: soda, popcorn, and candy. If you need more than that to watch a movie, I suggest you get dinner before your movie. I had a pretty disappointing experience at Keene Cinemas. The theater wasn't very clean, which already set a bad tone, and an interaction I had with a staff member named Chad made things worse. Incredibly rude for no reason at all. I also witnessed him harassing a female employee as we were leaving. I don't know if that was his wife or not, but it was still very inappropriate and the young lady was visibly distraught. Overall, it didn't feel like a welcoming environment, and I wouldn't recommend it to others in the Keene area. Especially younger female guests around this guy. Beware. read more

There is nothing fancy about this theater, so if you require the newest, shiniest, the most high tech, you'll be disappointed. BUT, this theater is clean, comfortable, and well-priced. The seats are not the latest reclining seats, but they are large and comfy and there's plenty of space between the aisles. The best part is their pricing--I've never seen such low prices for concessions. Family owned and operated with a friendly staff. Probably my favorite theater in NH. Now, if they'd switch to real butter, they'd be the only theater I go to! read more

We went here for the first time to see Coco in 3d. Or so we thought. When we arrived at the theater we were told that they finished with the 3d last week. Although the website (which included actual dates) said it was to be in 3d we figured at least we will see the movie so we went ahead and bought tickets anyway. The two teenish guys that were in the front were quite rude to us and although they answered our questions, they did so with very bad attitudes and their mannerisms made you feel they were being bothered by you. They were using very bad language which I felt was very inappropriate. Especially since they were dealing with families with children. The prices were a bit high for what we recieved, but I find that normal at most theaters I go to. They should layer the butter in the popcorn so that you don't end up with dry popcorn after you eat your top layer, though. The movie was good and we enjoyed it, but the advertisements before the movie dragged on and on. I will be looking for another theater to go to and would gladly travel further to find a theater with friendly employees who enjoy what they do. I wont say I wont go back, but I will say I don't plan to. read more

"Security guard" as I walked in (guy selling tickets) told me no food was allowed, ok no problem I ate it outside. Then as I came back inside the dude clearly had an issue so I asked if he'd like to check me. He mumbled something under his breath and I just let it slide thinking "eh I'm just here to see a movie he's the guy working here, idk how his day has been" so me and my buddy proceeded to watch Megan, which is a great movie by the way and on the way out I noticed he was eating McDonald's. So to lighten his mood I made a joke and said "hey man no food allowed" and he actually proceeded to yell at me "I live here u asshole" for a family owned business, this wasn't a very welcoming place. This theatre has not changed one bit, and I'm so disappointed. Fine, there wasn't a line to get my tickets, or any snacks. Cool. But I have been to this theatre many times over the year and I am reminded why I dislike it every time. I went to see Wonder Woman last night and I was satisfied with the film itself. However the volume of the movie was so quiet I could hear the people across the theatre eating their chips over the dialogue. Really disappointed with the customer experience aspect. And I didn't see any attendant come to check on the film once. Picture was dully lit at many points. I won't be returning as this is not the first time I've had such an experience. Which is sad since I'm local to Keene and have been my whole life. Supported my local here for the last time and can't say I would recommend going to a friend. read more

For my boyfriend and I's date night we went to this movie theater to watch the new violent night. When going into the movie theater the guy who sold us our tickets said our movie was in theater 5 but while selling us our tickets he was in an unpleasant mood and almost like he could careless. Then we bought our drinks and snacks and we got confused because we thought it was the theater with the preview on the wall which it was but the earlier one. Which the guy who sold us our tickets watched us go in to the wrong theater so you would think because working in that type of business there would be customer service which he didn't. He let us walk into the wrong one, watch 30 minutes of the last bit of the earlier movie and then proceeded to tell us we could get out because we didn't listen, we then asked if we could get a refund and he said no but we could leave and then we asked if we could go watch the rest of the movie we were supposed to watch and sure enough he said no once again, but he said no this time because we would be watching the movie at the same spot we just watched which was the ending, then we asked how many minutes were left and it was about an hour and 10 minutes so he lied about how much time was left and we overall had a terrible experience. If you wanna see a good movie, being treated with good customer service and just overall have a good time i wouldn't recommend this place the employees are rude and an embarrassment to the once good movie theater. I would give them a 0 star rating but thats not possible so i have to give them a 1. read more

Keene Cinemas is a pretty average theater. I believe they have five or six screens. The interior doesn't appear newly remodeled, but it doesn't appear old and worn. Tickets are still under $10, so that's a plus. read more

Well, the hired help they've had through the years I can't complain about. They're usually nice guys. Keene is the Lone Cinema in the region. You'd think they'd have decent business but if so, it doesn't show by the way the place is kept up. Problem number one: this last time attending for the first time in a few years was there was twelve minutes of commercials. Twelve. And that was before the previews attached to the actual film. It was enraging and incredibly disappointing. Problem number two: the film was in 3D and so the ticket price was bumped up to $12. Sure, the glasses make it cost more but not that much more. Problem number three: cash only. I'm sure that viewership and vending would go up if they accommodated credit cards. I had better luck with this place when I was in high school-- and it didn't feel so awkward and trashy too. Here's hoping a new owner swipes it up and improves it soon or else I can see this place closing down. read more

The cash only policy seems like a bit of a scam, especially since the ATM that is inside has a $2.50 service fee. Ticket price was $9 each. The food choices are very limited; only popcorn and nachos. We got the nachos which cost about $5. They were unremarkable. The bathroom was dirty and no paper towels so I also got to dry my hands on my pants. The seats were pretty comfortable and there was only about 10 min of previews so that wasn't too bad. Overall if there was anywhere else in Keene to see a new movie I would go there. Screens are dirty, they only take cash, and selection is limited to whatever the biggest release are. Still, it's the only place in Keene you can see most of those movies (or 3D0, and they still have 35mm film on a few screens. They sometimes have a box with leftover posters in the lobby you can snag for free, and if you're a student they offer a slight discount. I wish they'd remodel, take cards, and promise to keep screening film. Unfortunately this is the one place in Keene you can see the big releases, so you can either take it or leave it. read more

Pretty run-down old theatre which shows the most "mainstream" movies. Walking into this place, I feel like I'm in 1985. They really should remodel! I can't complain too much though, because they do have a student discount, which you don't find very many places. It's $6.75 for a student, and I believe it's $8 for regular adults. The prices are better than I pay at home. Don't come here expecting to find indie or artsy movies... Though I was pleasantly surprised that they showed Wes Anderson's new flick. read more

This is hands down the worst movie theatre I've ever been to. When my friends and I got in, they rudely stared us up and down and told us to get in a line. We payed and went into the theatre which was absolutely disgusting. The seats had stains and were all sticky. The movie began with just my friend group and a few other people in the theatre. One of the workers came into my row, tapped on my shoulder and told me I couldn't have my bag, which contains my epi pen because I am severely allergic to peanuts. She took my bag and locked it in a room and told me I could come get it after the movie. About 1/4 of the way into The Lion King, my friend had to text his mom to make sure she could pick us up at the end. The same lady that took my bag told him to put the phone away or he would have to leave and not come back. He put his phone away after texting his mom and the lady came back and kicked him and 3 of our friends out. They had to wait outside of the building, not even in the building for the rest of us. We weren't about to make them wait for us to finish the hour and a half that was left in the movie so we got up, left the theatre room and got my bag from "the box" they were locked in, and went out to see our friends standing on the sidewalk in the pitch black. The mom that was supposed to pick us up didn't expect us to be done with the movie so soon so we had to wait about 20 minutes longer for her to come get us. The people working at the front desk banged on the windows and told us we had to leave or they were going to call the police. We had to walk through the dark parking lot over to where they were re-painting the road and wait so they wouldn't get us arrested. If you are ever in Keene New Hampshire and want to see a movie, NEVER go to Keene cinemas! They will absolutely ruin your night! read more

MUCH improved since ownership change. The fact that they now accept credit cards all by itself is a great change. Theater I was in was clearly redone and seating was comfortable. Can't comment on snack bar pricing because we didn't get anything. Ticket prices are still a bit high for a family night out but will definitely go back again more than I might have in the past. read more

My wife and I were recently there to catch a "late" show after attending an early wedding nearby. The next morning, my wife could not find a ring she had been wearing and really likes. We searched the hotel room with no luck. We stopped by the movie theater as we were leaving and someone searched the theater with her, but no luck. When we arrived home that evening, there was a message from the theater that the ring had been found. Besides being a reasonably priced movie theater that does not charge a mortgage payment for snacks, they employ nice honest people. THANK YOU!!! read more

It's the only theater in Keene (I'm not counting the Colonial on Main, which doesn't carry first run features) and the screens are small, the seats old and dirty, the sound is lame, the bathrooms are barely working...typical backwoods New Hampshire bush league bullshit. This is the kind of theater that makes you think about getting a bigger t.v., some surround sound, and just watching everything at home. OVERPRICED - definitely charges the highest prices for a movie anywhere outside of a major metropolis. CASH ONLY - need I say more? DIRTY - not just dirty but downright filthy. OLD CONCESSIONS - where most theaters leave a pile of fresh popcorn in the machine and scoop it out on order (thus allowing them to add butter half way filled and then from the top) Keene Cinemas pre-fills bags and lets them sit until someone buys them. I can't prove it but I am fairly certain that they sit for days on end instead of being made fresh for the show. BAD QUALITY OF PROJECTION - to ad insult to injury, after you overpay, walk through the filth, grab some of the worst popcorn ever, the screen is dark and not clear. VERDICT - avoid at all cost, and when I say all costs I mean this theater is 15 minutes from our house and instead of going there we drive 50 minutes to a much better theater. This theatre is FINALLY under new owners as of December 2016-ish. The prices have dropped a little on concessions and tickets, there's a better collection of films, and they FINALLY ACCEPT CARDS. The film offerings and rotations are much better, and major films are no longer exclusively offered in 3D. The only theatre for 20mi, this used to be grungy and dirty and the staff awful - the new owners must've put their foot down because when we saw Rogue One, it was incredibly clean and the staff was excited and super friendly. That said: the seating, sound system, and some of the screens need an upgrade. I hope that the new owners continue to invest in the refurbishment of this small town theatre, it's 3 stars now, but fifteen years ago it was a 5 (remember when it was Hoyt Cinemas?) and could be again with some TLC. I really hope the new owners continue to improve this place, since their original plan seems to have been to just shut it down, therefore forcing South-western NH residents to drive the MA or VT for the next closest theatre (Latchis, 18mi). read more

Man, what a progression from what it used to be a year ago. Before I would not be caught dead in this theater, and now it is a cinema I go to on a weekly basis. They have now begun accepting credit cards, while also slashing prices on both concessions and tickets, which is great for those with kids. The theaters are also all in states of renovation, as is the lobby and bathrooms. Cleaner seats, pictures, and excellent sound quality make for a fantastic experience, with a friendly and helpful staff being the cherry on top. If you haven't been in a while you should definitely visit, you won't be disappointed. read more

I went to see Coco today (11/22) and showed up at 8:45pm because the time online said 9pm. I was looking forward to the previews and Frozen short and missed both. But we stayed and found the seats to be the most uncomfortable things ever. I hate to break it to you, but not everyone is skinny. I had an armrest jabbing I to both my hips and ribs and left the theater with pain shooting through my legs and lower back. I haven't been to Keene Cinemas in years, and now I remember why. I was so disappointed, annoyed, and upset that I barely enjoyed the movie. read more

It truly is a shame that the Keene Cinema is the only place to catch a first run movie. Anxious to see the new Jungle Book rather then wait and go see it at The Bellows Falls Opera House. Well we should have waited! The quality of the movie was lame, not sure what was going on. After complaining, nothing was done. We thought it was the 3D version or something not sure what was wrong. Definitely one of the worst theaters I have ever been to. First off, they only take cash and when people aren't aware of this, the staff rudely points you into the direction of their ATM which has a $2.50 charge, might I point out that it's usually broken. It always seems rather dirty, from the seats to the bathrooms and the picture and sound quality is subpar at best. The food and drinks are overpriced, but hell what movie theater isn't like that? Probably the worst thing about them is how badly they manage their website, it'll say that they have a midnight premiere for something and once you get there they're like, "Nope, we're not having a midnight premiere, where did you here that?" "On your website." "Oh, will you look at that, oh well." With that you would think they would fix their website, but no. Sometimes it'll take them a week or more to update it. That's pretty bad. The only redeeming factor, which is very very small this that their ticket prices are great, 3D movies only being $12 where at and AMC a 2D movie is $10-$11. It's too bad that this is the only movie theater in the area. read more
