I think it is a great movie theater. The only gripe I have is the prices on food. But the screen is huge and I love their slushies.

My original review was tossed into the abyss of not recommended reviews ...not sure why, but the feeling remains. I like this theater and its clearly making an effort to improve. The only reason I go to this theater is because it's the closest to where I live. It has gotten a little better with the new ownership, although one thing bothers me about the new owners. Every time I go to watch a movie, I have to suffer through the horrible "movie" they made patting themselves on the back for "updating" the theater. It's not funny guys, we just want to watch a movie! Stop wasting our time! Also clean the bathrooms every once in a while. read more

Absolutely the worst experience in a theater. Over priced! Charging a 3 and 5 year old 8.50 each. Matinee price. Ridiculous. Cinema world is 6.00 and even prime time price for kids is 6 dollars. I said something to the girl about the prices and was told to go to fitchburg to watch the movie. The theater smelled like cat pee. Just a bad time. Will never go back. read more

They advertise a matinee, movie starts at Three ten PM. We arrived at a quarter till and waited almost an hour and NOBODY showed to open the theater. That was a forty six mile round trip wasted!. Its not enough the ticket prices are outrageous, the help is rude and lazy and the sound usually sucks, but not to even show up on time? Save your money, don't waste your time. Try Brattleboro, (Latchis) or Greenfield for an operation that's not bottom of the barrel.... read more

I took my son (five years old) to the Keene Cinemas for a late afternoon "matinee" yesterday. After paying $26 for our tickets, a medium popcorn, and a medium drink, I asked the attendant for a small cup with water for my son. I requested a cup with cover and was told "I'll have to charge you full price". I was shocked. When I asked why the attendant responded "well we have to cover the cost of the cup". Ridiculous. A nominal 50 cent charge, okay, $3.24 for a cup and tap water is ludicrous. The business is recently under new ownership and this is a terrible start. After telling the gentleman how displeased I was and signing on their iPad with a Square device, I walked into a dirty Theater. The sound on the movie in the adjacent Theater was so loud it could be heard through the walls. The seats and floor were dirty and beat up. The lordy looked haggard with (unbelievably) an old easy chair for free next to the door. I had promised my son the movie so we endured it but I will not go back. Terrible business. read more

Worst Movie Theatre I've ever been to. I went to Keene State College so I was stuck going here if I wanted to see anything mainstream. The Colonial and the Putnam on the KSC campus are great for Indie films, but if you want to see the next Big Blockbuster I strongly advise making the hike to Cinemagic in Merrimack or Hooksett. The sound is muffled, I can barely hear most of the of the dialogue. The picture quality is out of focus and very outdated. The whole theater is dirty and the bathrooms don't work half the time. I hope whoever manages this place reads this review and hopefully gets some kind of wake up call, because they clearly don't care about their customers. read more

I'd rather drive down to greenfield than spend 9 or 12$ for this nasty outdated poorly managed movie theater. First off the prices are ridiculously high for regular "non stadium" seating. The pitiful attempt to update this theater 10? years ago was to put some new seats in and get ONE digital projector. The staff is ok but don't eat the popcorn. You can hear the other movies through the walls. The air conditioning was barely working and the fan squeaked. I'm actually surprised that they are still open. Seeing as it's a 30 min drive to greenfield which has stadium seating and their prices are way lower. Keen needs a multiplex not another hotel or grocery store! read more

This place isn't even worth 1 star. Our family of 5 was in Keene running errands and decided to go to a movie. First off it's cash only, nowhere on their website does it state "be prepared with cash." Only after you get towards the front of the line do you see a small sign. Secondly, the line was huge and only one person was selling tickets. Third, a matinee is $8!!!! That's extremely over priced. All other matinees in theaters are $5-$6. Fourth, back to cash only, the ATM is a scam. The ATM charges $2.75 for use and ONLY lets you get $20 at a time! So when a family of 5 needs to get 5 tickets at $8 each you have to do the ATM twice and pay the fee twice! So not only are they over charging the tickets by $2-3 each, they then trick you into having to pay another $5.50 more to use the ATM to pay them cash!! So add it up and we would have spent $20.50 more just to see a movie in Keene. We decided their over priced, run down theater wasn't worth our money and went to the movies in Gardner MA instead. So here's an idea, looking to start a business? Open a movie theater in Keene, charge normal prices and take debit/credit cards, everyone will go to you instead :) read more
