Today I took a course in Actor Branding with Tom Burke, and it was absolutely the best, most helpful, and most insightful and detailed course ever! The information Tom provided to us was something I was looking for a long time, collecting it in bits and pieces, asking everyone questions, yet no one could answer me clearly. With several decades of expertise at the heart of Hollywood (and New York!) film industry, Tom shocked me with his uncanny ability to see through people, immediately be able to establish their type and what roles they could play. I have never heard anyone be able to configure an actor's essence and brand with all the different types and levels of roles. It can get very complicated very fast, but Tom has it all clear, in a concise list that gets straight into the heart of the matter. Couldn't recommend it enough! It is just life-changing! read more

All I gotta say is that this studio, now in the zoom world, has made me feel ready for the real and now-not-so-scary-world of zoom/self tape auditions. Judy and Stacy (I took the Pilot Season Class) are great teachers and bring in top professionals to asses where you are what you can do to continue growing. What more do you need? I just finished Advanced Callback with Judy Kain - I highly recommend her class. I tend to crap my pants over commercials a bit, as they're a different beast than straight up acting, but Judy's quite an authority on the subject, having been in over 400 commercials herself, and she definitely demystified the process for me - particularly improv, personality, and group auditions. She gave us ample time in front of the camera, and really got into the nuts and bolts of the different types of commercials, and how to prepare for them - she even created an app for that purpose. Super handy! I benefited from the added pressure of having an industry guest watch us each week, as well, and they provided very valuable insight into the commercial casting world. There is no one more knowledgeable about the art of auditioning than Judy Kain! Both the A-Z and the advanced callback classes are so very worth it, especially if you're just starting out. That being said it's a great class for beginners and advanced actors alike. I had Paul Hungerford for the A-Z class and he was also a really wonderful teacher, highly knowledgeable and hilarious to be in the room with. Judy is such a warm and personable teacher who really cares about her students. She knows how to answer all your burning audition questions! Just finished Judy Kain's A-Z Commercial Class. Judy Kain and George Ketsios are truly wonderful teachers! They are honest, direct and give you information to make you a better actor. What comes through loud and clear is that want you to succeed. The class also gives you the information of how the industry works and what you need to do to get there. Because of Covid-19 the class was a Zoom class which was as good as being in the room with everyone. When Judy speaks to you she addresses what you specifically need, which is so helpful. I've taken Commercial A-Z, Advanced Commercial Callback, Business of Acting and Spanish Commercial here. All three classes helped me grow so much. I was able to learn skills with Judy that helped me within a month book two commercials. When I walk into the casting room I am confident, prepared and know exactly how to handle anything that's thrown at me. Spanish is my second language and Soledad helped me become more confident speaking on camera. I learned to embrace my strengths and even my weaknesses with the language to truly be able to shine. I'm just finishing the A-Z Commercial Acting workshop and I can't imagine a better starting point. It felt like a natural fit for both actively auditioning actors and for people just curious about the business (like me). Our 7 year old son has been going to KIRA since he was 4 years old. Now taking and loving the virtual classes. He loves Miss Donna who has been his awesome teacher. He has had a few classes with Doug who he also enjoys (he says Doug is funny) and he's had one on one classes with owner Judy where he has learned a lot. I'll be honest, being a theater actor I love in person classes, and the Zoom fatigue is real BUT that being said, I was recommended to take Judy Kain's Advanced Commercial Callback class through "Keep it Real Acting" via Zoom and it was PERFECT. Zoom opens availability for a more diverse and advanced panel to join her classes. We had two Casting Directors, one Session director, and one Commercial Director for a total of 4 weeks. Each one worked with us on Copy, privately, before the rest of the class joined to work with Judy directly. Judy is a veteran of the industry with so much insight (and a book she wrote, a must-read, I've read it 4 times now), and she isn't afraid to tell it how it is. This is an advanced course, so it really is about polishing and refining. I highly recommend this class if you want to up your game for the commercial industry. Also, side note, I loved how diverse the group was. Every shape, size, color, and age was a part of the course which I LOVED. read more

I literally JUST finished Judy's class last week, and THIS WEEK I booked two non-union commercials, and had a callback for a SAG commercial! I literally hadn't booked or gotten a call back in 5 MONTHS too! Last year when I took her class the first time, the following week after I finished, I had booked 3 non-union commercials !!! She is a commercial genius, and even when you think you're good, you can still slack and make small mistakes that can make or break your self tapes. I took A-Z Commercial Technique with Paul Hungerford and absolutely loved it! Judy Kain subbed once as he was shooting a commercial and she's wonderful as well!!! I've been taking acting classes on and off my entire life, have a BFA, and have been in an on going acting class for the past six years. This class taught me so much I haven't been taught in any of my previous training. Most of us Actors tend to focus on theatrical work and neglect the commercial market, which puts us at a huge disadvantage. It's definitely it's own monster and completely different than theatrical work. You may dominate Theatre, Television, and Film auditions but that won't necessarily make you good at commercial auditions. This is definitely an amazing class for all actors, beginners or seasoned. I will definitely be taking the course again and some of the other classes they offer as well. Two huge thumbs up! read more
