I was referred to this practice after a regular eye exam with an optometrist. The staff is…read morepleasant, but the long waiting time is disrespectful of the patient's time. Over the years, the waiting has only gotten worse. Don't bother showing up on time for your appointment. They're ALWAYS LATE. I've been going to this office for a few years. At my most recent visit, I waited nearly an hour. I was literally getting up to walk out when they finally came out to the lobby to call me in for my appointment. Once you make your way past the waiting area, it's more waiting as you're escorted between rooms for various test. Clearly, they are scheduling appointments so that they overlap. This technique ensures that the doctor remains busy all the time, while you wait and wait and wait. The communication between the doctor and patient is minimal. You can spend an hour or more shuffling between one eye test to the next, but the results are NEVER shared with you. If you ask for specific results, such as eye pressure readings, they will be provided. If you don't ask, nothing is shared with you. What about all the other tests that you just had? What were they for? How did the results compare to previous results? Have things changed? In my opinion, they're "too busy." They've opened a 2nd location - both are a far from each other. That means each location has half the available appointment times, as the doctor splits his time between venues. The website boasts of a portal for you to review the results of the exam. Information is never posted to the portal. Never. The waiting area is sterile with only standard office chairs. If they expect patients to wait for their appointment for up to an hour... or longer, they need to set up areas where patients can get some work done. Install high tables with USB ports and lots of outlets.

Once I am finally able to talk to someone, they don't seem to know what they are doing. Several times, they said that they would call me back and never did. They were in network and said they would order the supplies and set up an appointment to have a procedure and I never heard from them. When I finally got thru to them, they said they were no longer in network but were working on getting back in and would call me when they did. After waiting several months again, they said that I would need to get a referral from my PCP even though it had already all been set up. They don't seem to know what they are doing and I lost all confidence. I called Alamo Urology and they were very professional and got me in the next day. I wasted over 6 months dealing with Urology SA. I will never go there again.

It almost feels they get a commission if they up-sale a Dialation exam. When I went in the first person I spoke with asked if I was interested in getting a Dialation and I said no and I signed a paper stating that I did not want it. When the dr called me in that's the first thing she asked me if I was sure that I didn't want Dialation. I told her no thank you. She proceeded with the exam and I feel since she didn't get the answer she wanted she began to try and scare me into a Dialation exam. She began to tell me that even though my eyes were doing great I could lose my eyesight in just a few years. I still said no thank you and before I left her office she told me again that I should reconsider. Im a grown man and I am fully aware of the procedures I need to have done. I am also capable of making my own decisions on my health and I am not easily coherence into doing things against my will. I just felt very uncomfortable with all the tactics that the doctor used to try and convince me. I left her office feeling that I no longer wanted to return to wecare optometry. I think they should reconsider their tactics because more people will leave. If a patient says no 1 time that should be it end of discussion. I don't need to be scared into an exam or shamed if I don't take that exam. I think you all need to change your thought process when it comes to putting patients in that type of uncomfortable situation

I was upset, but I've learned better for next time. Another con - paying for the contact lens "fitting". I'm not really sure why I have to pay to "fit" my lenses when I've been wearing the same brand for 8 years.

After searching for the phone number online, I was directed to central scheduling. When I attempted to make an appointment with my location, I was abruptly asked, 'Did your office location not answer the phone'. I then proceed to explain to them that the website directed me to contact central scheduling. It is bad enough being ill; yet worse when we cannot get treatment. It looks like I am not the only one that has had an unpleasant experience with scheduling. The office location at Olmos has always been great! I am disappointed when trying to get an in-office sick appointment. Unfortunately, I had to go to a Texas Med for treatment.

First time going here after my Opthomalogist retired. First impressions, parking is limited close…read moreto building, walking into building, you open the door and are in an open room full of loveseats and people! No privacy as you check in, and when you fill out paperwork, you are seated right next to a stranger. If you have to bring someone with you, there is very little space to accommodate another person. You check in and then are called back to get preliminary tests and glasses check, etc. Then you go with another assistant to have vision tested and pupils dilated. You then go back into a little section with several chairs in a back hallway to wait while dilating. You are taken in and receive a retina scan if needed, and glaucoma testing as well. You then come back into the hallway to wait for the doctor. While waiting, if you are closer to the other waiting room, you are able to hear everyone's business as they check out. When called back for the doctor, he reviews all your testing, writes an RX for glasses, shows you scan results, and after about 29 minutes, sends you on your way if you aren't having surgery. Office staff is friendly and efficient, especially Carly. She deserves a mention for her demeanor and putting me at ease. I don't really care for the lack of privacy and definitely felt like an event giving out benefits with the number of people in the office. I'm not sure I will continue to use this practice.
