Watauga Animal Shelter - The shelter kitty

these people are awful. We brought in a young cat who was living very rough in our apartment…read morecomplex. she was so sweet and she would come around and get fed by us frequently. We were the only ones she trusted to pet her but she never came inside. Always ran away because she was wild. One day I was able to wrangle her and we brought her into the shelter. We could not keep her as we have four other cats and one male who Is not yet neutered. Long story short, we brought her in thinking they would house her, spay her and hopefully home her. Hell, maybe we could have tried to arrange for her to come be a part of our lives. Instead, these incompetent people who work in ANIMAL SERVICE put her down because of her "behavioral issues" She never had issues. She was SO SWEET and gentle. Very tiny too. Not a threat to anyone. and they killed her in less than one week. seven days. Please don't take any strays or left behind animals here. They won't make it out.

I brought in a stray cat from my neighborhood yesterday that had unfortunately gotten injured by dogs. She was not doing good at all and when I arrived at Watauga Animal Control for help, the lady double checked that she was still alive and told me that since I told her I lived in Fort Worth, she couldn't help. I begged and begged her to help because this cat was not going to make the drive to anywhere else but she wouldn't. I literally even tried saying "well I was wrong, I live in Watauga" because that's how desperate I was and the heartless woman still wouldn't help and sent me away. The cat died sometime on the drive to Fort Worth Animal Control (which had some of the nicest employees in the world). Jurisdiction is all fine and dandy but when it comes to a living being, shame on her for turning this cat away. I'm still shocked that it happened and wonder what kind of world is this. Honestly, I think this was situational and there are plenty of employees who wouldn't have turned her away. I just got the wrong one. But it was a very sad day.

I said okay, paid the deposit and scheduled it. I showed up for my dog's appointment today. They weighed her, got her age, and then took her back and told me to get in line and pay. NOT EVEN 1 MINUTE LATER this girl comes back with my dog and says due to her age and weight the vet said no which is crazy because they barely even looked at her. MIND YOU SHE IS UNDER BOTH THE AGE AND WEIGHT LIMIT AND IN 2-3 PHONE CALLS WITH THIS PLACE AND COUNTLESS EMAILS NO ONE EVER SAID THE VET CAN JUST FLAT OUT REFUSE. THEY WASTED MONTHS OF MY TIME AND TOOK MY MONEY TOO. I absolutely would never bring my animals back here again just based on the lack of communication and apparently transparency.

My dog just had his first dental cleaning today, and the entire experience was seamless and incredibly AFFORDABLE. The Process I started this journey at the beginning of the year by calling to inquire about costs. The staff was wonderful--they were very friendly and answered every single one of my questions without rushing me. A few days later, they followed up to get us scheduled and handled the deposit over the phone. It was very organized from the jump. Drop-off & Staff When we arrived for drop-off, I'll admit I was a bit nervous because the line was quite long. However, the TCAP team is a well-oiled machine! They were so quick and efficient that the line moved in no time. What really touched me was how they handled my dog. He has some anxiety, and the friendly staff went out of their way to make sure he was comfortable and calm before taking him back. It's clear they truly care about the animals, not just the procedure. Pick-up & Aftercare Pick-up was just as smooth. They provided thorough after-procedure care instructions and the necessary medications so I knew exactly what to do once we got home. We were back to our day in no time! Bottom line: If you need dental work or wellness services for your pet, TCAP provides professional, compassionate care at a fraction of the cost of a traditional vet. We will definitely be back!
