I had him has my property manager for years and he always was able to get me into a "great" deal only for it to be a dump. His strategy....use out of state investors to bring their money into Watertown, fix up a dump, let him put Section 8 tenants or TLS tenants in there only to have your home destroyed. Use the few bucks you made if tenants paid to fix up the property again...rinse....repeat while he collected his monthly management fee. I was investing in Watertown for about 4 years and I'm still trying to get out of there. I moved everything over with Darrin Ashcroft that I have left. Micah shouldn't be in real estate or property management as he does not care about the investor evidenced by the trash he put in my home. I don't think he ran background checks or looked at prior convictions. Somehow everything he touched turned into a time suck. I have no idea how he stays in business personally. The last two property managers we had, they left us in a very dire situation. We felt hopeless and defeated. We decided to give one more shot and started looking for a new property manager. In the process of interviewing new prospects, we came across Micah Matteson. Hiring him as our property manager was the best decision we have made. He understood our situation. He went out of his way to accommodate us, and within the first 2 yrs we were able to turn things around. When our properties were profitable again, he helped us selling them. Then when significant new damage was discovered during the walkthrough, he blamed us, refused to negotiate for repair costs, had someone do a terrible coverup job, insulted us repeatedly, and threatened to sue if we did not go through with the initial offer. We had no say in who the seller picked as a realtor, but please do not give this slimeball any of your business! (I highly recommend Stephen Gleason and William Leepy from NNY Realty instead)

Dead bugs everywhere, dog shit on the floor and smelled like cat piss. The blinds looked like someone spit syrup all over them. The bathroom leaked. I could go on. The poor mother had rented from another state so being young she felt she didn't have much choice but to take it. Upon move out they had the nerve to charge $513 to clean the carpet upstairs. Yeah, the carpet they left dog shit on that smelled like cat piss. The square footage shouldn't have cost more than $165 at most. Truthfully they should have put new carpet down but hey what do you expect from a slumlord. Do not rent from this terrible person.

Late last year she apparently left Clear Choice and I didn't find out until I received an email that basically said "Sign this really fast so it releases your property from Clear Choice" Since then, she's been horrible to get ahold of, my property has been vacant for 6 months, AND when searching for it, found out she doesn't even have it listed for sale on the MLS!! I don't know how she is with her tenants but property owners BEWARE!! :( **UPDATE 9/4/2018*** I was contacted by Yelp HQ to validate my review as Bennett is trying to get my review removed!! Seriously?!? Your company was incredibly shady in 2015 and you're still shady in 2018?!? Wow... But never fear, I verified with Yelp HQ and I will verify here too. See my screenshot. Property management companies should be companies you can trust to be honest and fair not liars. Still in shock that your company is still this bad!

My experience with them was from 2012-2013. I rented this home from a realtor with this company…read more(formerly Century 21 Millennium, now Door to Door Realty) online. The realtor did not disclose the basement flooded often in the winter time from the underground river and the snow run off. When the basement flooded, it could reach as high as the 3rd floor from the top (out of 15) stairs. When I told the realtor/landlord about this, she said it never happened before. Later, I was told by the fire department that they had to pump this home's basement out every year about 1-2x a season due to the flooding. We moved in the home in September 2012. Within about 6 months, my children were sick all the time. I had a 12yo and a infant (2 months when we moved in). It got progressively worse until both children were hospitalized due to black mold inhalation in May 2013. I ended up having to send my children back to another state to recuperate with my parents while I found us another home. Meanwhile, as I stayed in this home until this time, I kept getting sicker and ended up hospitalized for a month. They determined the black mold was in the ventilation system from the basement flooding. When I moved out, I took pictures of the home which my mother in law (who is actually friends with this owner and the real estate sales person) helped me clean from top to bottom. They tried to claim I broke things that weren't broken, left the home trashed, etc. When I went to the broker, Rob Moyer, he tried to claim the real estate agent was allowed to rent out one property under her own name without him supervising it and he had nothing to do with this and that I needed to "get over it." He was pretty assaultive in his messages. This back and forth rhetoric went on for quite some time and I finally filed a complaint with the state against both Rob Moyer and Kathy Cook for basically being horrible human beings and basically being crooks. In 2016, it finally was resolved with both being sanctioned by the state after they were caught in several lies (which can be looked up on the NYS licensing litigation page to read over the results of this) and they were both fined. I would NEVER recommend either of these individuals to anyone. Rob Moyer has an extremely high, narcissistic sense of self. He's unnecessarily combative, defensive, and rude from my experience. Kathy Cook is unscrupulous. They can change the name of this company, but they are still the same people playing the same games.
