This is going to be the most ridiculous part of any review for this place, but they have a clean bathroom and we tend to make a pit stop here to use it if needed on the drive home. It's a cute place, with friendly, helpful employees. On a recent stop I mentioned to the cashier that my next mission was to find a coffee shop and she let me know they had free coffee at the ice cream buffet area and to help myself. I've never had the ice cream here so I can't comment on that. The candy made here is solid. I've bought some for gifts and it was well-received. They also have plenty of other foodie type items for sale. There are multiple rooms with gift items. Some are over the top kitsch and some are legit. Prices are average. If you need a gift item for someone, you'd probably do just fine here. It's worth a stop if you are in the area, but if you are the type of shopper that has to examine every item, give yourself plenty of time. read more

The chocolates are great as is the ice cream buffet, but the customer service stinks. I just wasted a good bit of time trying to buy about $50 worth of sugar free chocolates- took about 5 minutes to wait while they packed the box. But went I went to check out, there was no one as the check out register. No bell to ring and no management in evidence. So after waiting about 5 more minutes with no one there to take my money, and with others waiting behind me to check out, I left the candy on the counter by their register & left the premises. And just called the "manager" to explain what happened and the so-called manager of the candy department did not even apologize. A big waste of my time. Awww, Kellerhaus...one of those places that's awesome when you're a kid, and probably somewhat awesome as an adult, but that you completely forget about during the years in between. They have a make-your-own sundae bar, Belgian waffles, and lots of candy. Like, chocolate turtles and those weird fruit slice things and rock candy. "New Hampshire" candy. We always used to hit up Kellerhaus on the way home from Lake Winnie. I have been coming here with my family for 35 years. We love the candy store, gift shop, Christmas store and toy sections. The ice cream parlor and ice cream buffet is delicious and fun at anytime. My feelings aren't: This is an iconic, New Hampshire and historic place. The best part about it is that for over 100 years it hasn't changed. It was recently sold to two men who took out the baby gift room, the beautiful old hardwood floors and Half wall in the ice cream parlor. They are slowly destroying the history of Kellerhaus and not protecting the legacy of this wonderful place. The dull, cheap laminate floors look awful, the old player piano has been broken for weeks with a flimsy hand written sign that says out of order. We always loved to put 25 cents in and listen to it play while we ate our ice cream. To me, you don't take such a historic place and try to make it modern or new~ we don't want that at Kellerhaus. Also, the ice cream seems to have less flavor, the whipped cream, always homemade by the previous owner, is now soupy not firm when you get it at the ice cream buffet. I hope they stop trying to change what has worked for years and have respect for this beautiful place that needs to be lovingly cared for, not changed all around. Please keep Kellerhaus as it has been for so many years and cherish the charming characteristics of the lovely old house, once a dairy barn. We knew the previous owners and our daughter worked for them. They had very high standards of cleanliness and of making the ice cream, whipped cream etc. along with making the gift shop pleasing to the eye with lots of pretty things to buy. I've been here about six times this year (which I am sure isn't healthy, lol). The ice cream is good and the help-yourself toppings bar has probably everything you could want for ice cream toppings. Yesterday I got a scoop of cherry chocolate chunk ice cream (you order how many scoops you want and tell them which flavor(s) of ice cream you want). On top of that I put hot fudge, raspberry sauce, strawberries, marshmallow cream, whipped cream, M&M's, chocolate sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, Oreo crumbles, and various nuts (I do my best to strategically place everything so it's not one big mess). Thankfully they give you a fresh little Styrofoam plate to catch the droppings. read more

Anything is possible at Disney, truly where dreams come true. This store evokes the same feeling and sense of amazement, overwhelming, and endless possibilities. Everything is a production, everything is extravagant and excessive. The store is massive with so many nooks and crannies, and each room has a differnt theme. If you are a collector of ANYTHING, you will find a whole room full of whatever it is here, in every size, shape color. Ladybugs, souvinears, keychains, trolls, dolls, trains, dishes, toys.. they have it. They also have an amazing candy area with every type of candy you can imagine, as well as fudge. The epicenter of the store is the icecream. They have so many homemade flavors, many unique ones that I had never heard of before, and then it's self serve for your own toppings! Made a quick stop here in hopes of getting a post card of NH for someone collecting them from all the states. The central cashier is located very close to the front door and since I was on limited time and didn't want to hunt post cards down, I asked her if they had any. The cashier who had warmly greeted me proceeded to tell me they had a small selection behind her station. So glad I asked and didn't just roam around! This day, I didn't go any further into the building, but I have been there many times over the years. Sadly, the old Kellerhaus, like many other establishments has changed over the years and transformed into a gift shop of a little of this and a little of that. The various rooms are full of all kinds of items so one can probably find something if they keep looking. One of the big draws used to be their vast selection of Christmas ornaments---every thing you could imagine!!!! The gifts were a different caliber also. One thing that has remained constant is the candy that is made there. It is delicious and the variety is there to meet all needs. There is also an ice cream buffet where one can choose from a variety of flavors ice cream and choices of toppings. This is always a busy area in the summer! Staff is always friendly and welcoming. The place is always clean. Prices are a bit high, but typical for a gift shop in a tourist area. It's not the place I know and remember, but it's worth stopping at if in the area. read more

Went there as a child and use to love the ice cream buffet and tons of toppings, I went back recently and was so disappointed. It has turned into a gift/junk shop that has some ice cream. Absolutely, the best place in the world for ice cream. Granted, I have a sentimental attachment to this place as I've been coming for over 30 years. With that said - this place is super cool. Its set in a neat ol' German style house with all sorts of themed shopping rooms (candy, candles, toys, card, etc....). You are given a bowl of ice cream on a plate and you USE that plate to continue the pile of yumminess for your ice cream. A staple of the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, their make your own sundae bar is always the highlight of any trip I make to Weirs Beach and Funspot. The ice cream is delicious and the toppings are simple but with enough variety to fit many flavor palette. It seemed 8-10 years ago that the place was not as it once was, but new ownership came in with a love for the tradition of Kellerhaus and has really brought new life into it recently. If you are looking for a commercial big ice cream buffet with a ton of flavors to choose from, Kellerhaus is NOT the place for you. Kellerhaus has few flavors to choose from, but ALL of them are outstanding. I think they focus on quality over quantity. Some of the reviews on here are disappointed because they want a modern big ice cream bar. Kellerhaus is an old time, quaint ice cream parlor that does not disappoint. I do not want what I can get anywhere else. I want the classic charm and delicious ice cream of Kellerhaus. I also love their gift shops and candy, It is pricey, but they have many unique items, including long discontinued toys from the past. Look if you are going to brag about a smorgasbord then please make sure you really have one. This is nothing but typical Sundae toppings. I long for the days of Putnam Pantry in the 80's when you would be sick to your stomach because of the amount of toppings and mixtures you would pile on your ice cream. July 2019. Not much has changed since 2015 review. Still fun to build your own Sundae's. They used to have little trays for under the ice cream cup to catch any spill over but they are long gone and it is a bit messy while eating. The eating area is still the same. The young lady at the ordering register was a tad impatient with us while we made up our minds. There was no line. Deal with it tootsie. We are the paying customer. Don't like it get another job. The candy area is changed EVERYTHING has to be weight and calculated. Some things you pay for there some at the front register. Too confusing. They lost a star because of the sassy help.
