Very cool candy & gift store. Unfortunately due to some covid restrictions the ice cream parlor wasn't open but this is a very unique gift shop. They make their own fudge, chocolates & they have several different rooms so you can definitely find a souvenir for everyone on your list. Each room has a different theme. The ice cream parlor room is adorable & has really cool stained glass windows. You should definitely make this a stop if in the Weirs Beach area. read more

I eat more ice cream than kids. When I travel out of town, I always make it a point to check out a hot spot in the area, just to see how it compares to my fave shops. Kellerhaus popped up in my search so we drove here after some games at Funspot. The outside is very unassuming but once you walk in, you're in the wonderland of gifts and souvenirs, ice cream and candy, all in one. The ice cream was straight to the back. The ordering process was a little weird but basically, the list of ice creams is right in front of you as you walk in. Know what you want before you make your way to the back to order! I decided on the cookie coffee flavor in a cone. I was super impressed with this. The ice cream texture was wonderfully creamy with a strong coffee flavor. There were pockets of soft chocolate cookie crumbs swirled throughout. This combo really worked! Wish I had gotten two scoops. We didn't linger and browse so I can't say much about the rest of the place. I'd definitely stop in for another cone if I find myself by Lake Winnipesaukee again. read more

Kellerhaus is adorable! This charming ice cream shop and candy store manages to display countless knick-knacks, souvenirs, home decor goodies, and edible treats throughout the maze-like storefront with multiple rooms. All the colors! So many cute little products tempting me to bring them home to California. But M directed my attention to the ice cream bar in the center of the store, and the colorful menu touting the day's flavors. I know his eyes locked on the Colossal, a 10-scoop sundae worthy of the name, but we decided to share a 3-scooper. The process? 1. Pay for your bowl (or cone or waffle bowl!) at the cash register 2. Bring your bowl over to the ice cream case to pick out your scoops 3. Proceed to the DIY sundae bar to pile on the toppings. Martin picked coffee (of course), I went with mint chocolate chip, and we selected Cookie Monster to share. He prefers his ice cream unadulterated, but I could not resist drizzling on a bit of hot fudge on my side of the boat-shaped dish. Not gonna lie - the color of Cookie Monster caught me off-guard a bit, but it's essentially a cookies & cream flavor with lots of Oreo bits. The ice cream itself was creamy and fluffy -- a wonderful treat despite the cool weather. Yum! The bright colors, cute products, variety of candy, and sundae bar are all excellent reasons to pay Kellerhaus a visit, but allow me to offer one last reason -- the service! The staff here were so friendly to us, especially since we hail from LA where one woman's (the owner's?) son also lives. If you're ever in the Laconia / Weirs Beach region of New Hampshire, definitely swing by Kellerhaus. It's situated just off Route 3 and if you blink, you just might miss it, but it's well worth the journey! read more

The Kellerhaus is a "must do" every time I am in the Lakes Region, as was the case this past Saturday. As others have correctly pointed out, it's a unique mix of a classic New England candy shop (meaning they have candies along with other stuff you find in these parts like jams and butters), an old time ice cream shop, and a gift shop / novelty shop. It's the ice cream sundae bar I come for. There list of flavors is limited compared to other ice cream shops (about 10-12 flavors), but it's all homemade as are the sauces in the sundae bar. I was a kid in heaven topping my two scoops of "cookie monster" ice cream with homemade hot fudge, strawberries, marshmellow, nuts, jimmies, and whipped cream...and of course the little American flag to top it off with! :) The ice cream sundae always satisfies my sweet tooth, so I seldom buy the candy here. But it's really cool to go into the candy shop downstairs and watch them making the chocolates and truffles in the open work area. Going to The Kellerhaus is like stepping back in time. Not much has changed since I first started going in the early 80's, except the old time nickelodeon piano no longer functions. Very cool place to visit, especially for ice cream lovers! read more

This place is more than just a place to grab a sundae or some cute decorations for many people. I have sooo many fond memories coming up here with my family, and my last visit with my mom was our last (for many years anyway, since we are relocating). It has a beautiful history, and it's just as it was many years ago. Yes the floors creak, and yes there is older furniture in the dining area. It has character, and for those of us who've been coming here for years it's really like sitting down to enjoy a nice, delicious cup of nostalgia. Love this place--and I always will! read more

This place is such a happy childhood memory for me! Every year since the mid 1980's my family and I would go up to Laconia for our annual family vacation and it would not be complete without at least one trip to the Kellerhaus!! I remember the sponge candy being so delicious and the ice cream sundae bar being better than a dream come true to a little kid! Absolutely delicious sundae bar!! I came here when I was 8 years old and it was just as delicious 13 years later. The staff was very nice and the wait wasn't too long in the line. If ice cream wasn't so many calories, I'd be here literally every day! The addition of the candy store and gift shop truly makes Kellerhaus unique. I bought a lovely candle and bar of soup after finishing my dessert, which brightened my day! I was very excited about them, and found most things to be very reasonably priced. read more

This beautiful hilltop candy shop, is straight out of a fairytale. Looks like a Hansel and Gretel home, with lots of goodies inside. Weekends in the summer they serve waffle breakfasts in abundance to the visitors of this lakeside community. They have more than waffles but it's a simple limited menu. Their main attraction is the candy shop or ice cream offerings. They have a large gift shop with lots of local creations and fun rustic pieces. My kids love to stop at the make your own candy bag section... my daughter doesn't eat chocolate so my son and I more than make up for her portions! ;) they are all made in house - nice and sweet, with a wide assortment, freshly stocked. I grabbed a box of assortments with caramels this past Sunday while on an adventure with my daughter! Definitely recommend this place, there are lots of candy stores in the area but none have the same quality and fresh in home assortment. Great place for ice cream, as that is made in house and you can top it yourself without worrying about the weighing of additions making the price outrageous- they don't weigh, they encourage creativity and sharing of pictorial masterpieces!! This is right next to the cottages we are staying at this weekend, so we walked over for some ice cream. We didn't realize it was so much more than that. They hand make candies, and all their own ice cream. I got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream and opted for the topping bar which had different sauces and toppings, it was the best ice cream i've ever had. There were several rooms filled with typical gift shop things but I still loved walking through it all. We sat outside under their new pavillion and there were games like corn hole, Jenga, and connect 4. So fun. We will definitely be back! read more

I was craving ice cream and had no cash, so we needed an ice cream stand that would take credit. Enter Kellerhaus. Driving by it looked big enough to fit the bill, and it was. Minor quibble, they have an ice cream buffet and you enter this line to place your order & get your token. It is not clear, however, that you can escape with just a cone so I had to get in line just to ask. FYI, you can. Their flavor list is pretty limited. I got the chocolate chocolate chip. It had lots of chips but not a lot of chocolate flavor. Kellerhaus satisfied my ice cream craving, but just barely. I sort of wish I had perused their candy & chocolate offerings. read more

Coming back home after a couple hours at Funspot, we stopped at the oh-so-cute Kellerhouse. How could we pass up a business that looked like a Swiss chalet and advertised "ice cream smorgasbord!" After parking in the ample lot, we entered through the front door. The entry foyer is a tiny gift shop with whimsical items. I especially liked the gnomes. However, we didn't linger. Straight ahead and you find the entrance for the ice cream. First, you order and pay at the cashier. We both went for the small (1-scoop sundae). There were other sizes, waffles bowls (free waffle samples were available at the register) and custom add-ons such as banana. You are given a bowl and proceed to the ice cream station. There were about 10 flavors to choose from. I had black raspberry and my husband had chocolate chocolate chip. The ice cream is scooped for you by an employee and your bowl is returned to you with a tiny styrofoam plate underneath it. The plate is to catch all the gooey goodness from the smorgasbord. And that's where you head next. The toppings included: hot fudge, butterscotch, chocolate sauce, raspberry, strawberry, pineapple, marshmallow, whipped cream, jimmies, M'n'Ms, and nuts. You can even put a little American flag (on a toothpick) decoration on top (undoubtedly left over from the July 4th weekend). Finally, it's time to dig in. There are about twenty small tables all with a beautiful view of the mountains. A player piano churns out tunes for $0.25. Free cups of water are available from a fountain, and there is even a pedal operated sink where you can wash off your sticky hands. If you need to work off the ice cream, you can browse the large Kellerhouse gift shop. There were baby items, coffee mugs, cards, ornaments. All at reasonable prices. The gift shop has several small rooms. On the lower level, near the entrance/exit there is a candy shop. They even sell a small selection of cheddar cheese. This place has it all! If that weren't enough, the Kellerhouse serves breakfast featuring a waffle bar. So, next time you're in Weir's Beach, be sure to save room for ice cream at the Kellerhouse. First and foremost: 5 STARS for their chocolate turtles. Get the turtles (unless you have nut allergies)!! These were the BEST turtles I've ever had in my liiiife. The chocolate and caramel sit atop an abundance of cashews. The caramel just melts in ya mouth mmm mm good. The variety box of chocolates was WAY too sweet. I didn't like any of the pieces I tried because the sugar level was overwhelming. I know this place is also known for their ice cream but we didn't have time to check it out, so this review is only for the chocolate that we got. read more

I'm pretty sure this place is famous and it doesn't quite live up to the hype, in my opinion, but I still enjoyed it. My husband and I came in on a very rainy night meaning no line, but the other couple times we tried to come here, the line for ice cream was so ludicrous that we had to leave. I had pretty high expectations and the ice cream itself was great, but the toppings bar was just ok - a few choices, some of which did not look appetizing at all. We also got some fudge to take home from here that was pretty good. I enjoyed their Christmas area also. Definitely worth a stop, but not worth waiting for ice cream if the line is really long. read more

This place represents my youth. My parents own a condo in Laconia on Winnipesaukee, and we used to spend our summers there, and regular trips to Kellerhaus were always a treat.... between the candy (chocolate turtles, candy sticks, the chocolate (oh, the chocolate!), etc. etc. As a kid, they have toys and dolls and games... for the adults (probably geared more towards women).... knick knacks (who doesn't love knick knacks, really?)... it's a marvelous place. There is a place in my dreams, where the ice cream flows freely, the chocolates are made on premises, and is truly a chocolate lover's paradise. While I have often dreamed of such place, it really does exist! For over 100 years, Kellerhaus has been churning out Ice Cream and home made candy for the lakes region. This is the type of place that my grandparents took my mother, and who in turn has taken me and now my little boy is coming here too! There are two main features to the Kellerhaus, the first is the amazing make your own sundae with homemade ice cream. Here you can pile up the scoops of ice cream and then load it up with the best damn toppings in New Hampshire. The hot fudge alone is to die for! The second part of Kellerhaus is the amazing homemade chocolates. Whether it is fudge, turtles, chocolate and more, they make everything by hand and wow it's good! I cannot wait to get back up there, and always make it a point to stop in when I am in the area spring, summer, fall or winter... The Kellerhaus is just that good! read more

You can't go wrong with Kellerhaus! This year, we finally got there for the weekend waffle buffet. The waffle was good and you get to top it however you like. I wouldn't quite call it a buffet though. You pay for your order and that's it. Now, on to the ice cream. We have been visiting Kellerhaus for the ice cream year after year. It's homemade and delicious. You choose your size, pay for it and they give you a little poker chip (which tells the scooper what size you bought). You choose your flavor and get to top it off however you like. A must try flavor is the Cookie Monster. It's cookies and cream but blue...so delicious! While vacationing in Meredith, we decided to stop in for the ice cream and the topping "smorgasbord". It's a candy and gift shop as well and the Meredith souvenirs as well as Christmas decorations fill the whole shop. I only quickly peeked in the candy room, which was large and offered a big selection of home made treats. The ice cream selection was extremely small, and the topping selection was even worse. I picked the maple walnut on a waffle cone. The ice cream was very bland, and was in dire need of more maple flavoring. While in line you walk by 5 waffle irons, don't let this fool you, as my cone was stale. My friend chose a shake which he was happy with, however disappointed he had to chose vanilla as they didn't have chocolate chip ice cream, his go to. Would stop in here again if my sweet tooth was in need, but will try another place for ice cream. read more

This is going to be the most ridiculous part of any review for this place, but they have a clean bathroom and we tend to make a pit stop here to use it if needed on the drive home. It's a cute place, with friendly, helpful employees. On a recent stop I mentioned to the cashier that my next mission was to find a coffee shop and she let me know they had free coffee at the ice cream buffet area and to help myself. I've never had the ice cream here so I can't comment on that. The candy made here is solid. I've bought some for gifts and it was well-received. They also have plenty of other foodie type items for sale. There are multiple rooms with gift items. Some are over the top kitsch and some are legit. Prices are average. If you need a gift item for someone, you'd probably do just fine here. It's worth a stop if you are in the area, but if you are the type of shopper that has to examine every item, give yourself plenty of time. read more
