It's small but doesnt feel crowded. Seating is in booths or on counter stools, plus a few tables. The menu over the counter at 9:30am was mostly breakfast (Jul 2026). We had rich cheddar grits, soft scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and crisp home fries and toast. The hearty cheddar farmhouse omelet and sausage came with creamy homemade baked beans, HF & T. For our sweet-tooth, we had melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon french toast and some sweet coconut pudding. All with strong smooth coffee, some black and some standing up well to cream. Everything tasted fresh and bright, better than diner-food has a right to be. Everyone joined in a friendly round of happy birthday that made us feel warm and at home :-)

We found a long room with over 70 seats set up at tables for four that looked combine-able, about 20 seats at the bar and at 2-seat hightops, both rooms with a wall of windows. The band set up in the bar window, but sit where you like, we found that we could hear the band everywhere! There's also a small enclosed outdoor patio with about 30 more seats at umbrellaed tables. The Jim Atkinson band is a foursome of Boston-area musicians that has been cranking out great blues, rock, & roots since 2017. We loved them, especially enjoying the creative keyboard and a real live sax! Their music selection was amazing, more their favorite solid blues than old-standbys, so we didn't recognize every song. But that's real music :-) The $1 New England oysters were big and juicy! They started at 4pm before we got there, and they still had plenty for us after 7pm! This was dinner for us, and we started with their hot-skillet "Mexican Corn Dip" with zingy pico de gallo salsa and fresh crisp corn tortilla chips. We got a "warm energy" bowl of quinoa, fresh tart cranberries, baby spinach, roasted sweet potato, and goat cheese, flavored with some scallions and garlic-butter. Huge, delicious, and very satisfying! The Fish 'n Chips was a full-foot-long full of their own Moon-Hill-beer beer-battered haddock, piping-hot fries, fresh crunchy coleslaw, with tartar sauce. Of course we leaned on their in-house Moon Hill brewery for several dry IPAs, their luscious Candy Mountain blueberry sour, (which could have been colder), and a very tasty non-alcohol Blueberry (Not)-tini, a bubbly beverage crafted with "Reàl Blueberry Purée", fresh lemon juice and lemonade. We have been to this restaurant twice in the past, once for breakfast and once for lunch. On both…read moreof those occasions, the food was good. Not special, but good. This most recent visit, however, was a total disaster. We went SPECIFICALLY for the seafood chowder that was advertised as a special and we went at 5:15pm because the couple we were with said the service is terrible and gets worse as the evening goes on. Most of the tables were occupied but there was an opening and we were seated after a few minutes. Before we sat, we asked if they still had seafood chowder and were assured they did. The table was bare. About 10 minutes later, the waitress brought salads. (We hadn't ordered our meals yet.) A few minutes later, she brought a carafe of water and 4 red Solo cups to the table. We still had not ordered and had no silverware or dressing for the salads. We were finally given a carafe of dressing for the salads that gets passed from table to table. How sanitary is that? Still no silverware to eat the salads we were given but hadn't ordered. The owner was walking around chatting while the single waitress was fighting tears and trying to do everything herself. How shameful - the owner could have cleared and set the empty tables and done whatever she could to help this poor overwhelmed young girl. Now at 5:45 she came to take our order. Two of us were getting the seafood chowder for dinner, the other two ordered it for an appetizer. Still no utensils. She came back after 10 minutes to tell us they were out of the chowder. That was the reason we went there. So, at 6pm (45 minutes after arriving) we left without eating which we couldn't have done anyway without utensils. My heart breaks for the waitress and I am appalled that the owner didn't help her at all. We will not be returning. If there was an option to leave a negative star review, I would have done so, but one star is the lowest option available.
