Because any brunch place worth their salt should have a really good eggs Benedict on the menu. Again, wow, I am so glad I ordered the eggs Benedict. This is the best eggs Benedict I have had in years. The hollandaise sauce was rich and smooth and absolutely delicious. They also gave me a choice of potatoes or salad, I took the potatoes because: breakfast potatoes! They were perfectly crispy and creamy. They also delivered a little pot of their house sauce, which was made of cilantro and mint, and a bunch of other things. I tend to avoid cilantro and mint foods. In the past, I have described eating cilantro as biting down on a piece of tinfoil, a sensation that says "run for your life!" overtime my reaction to cilantro has mellowed, and I don't really understand why. But? I ate every bit of that house sauce. I'm so glad I tried it, and tried it with the eggs, Benedict, because it added a perfect level acidity to cut through that richness, and really elevated the dish. We ended up finding both at Baked. When we walked in, we saw a few big bakery cases filled with pastries, muffins, and all sorts of baked goods. A little further into the space, we saw a reception stand for their full service, sit-down restaurant. We just wanted a beverage and a bakery treat, so that meant we couldn't sit in the restaurant, but luckily, we grabbed the only table in front of the bakery cases. It was quite a chore narrowing down our order from their many drinks and baked goods, but eventually we decided on a Cold Vanilla Blueberry Latte ($6), a Hot Banana Bread Latte ($5), a Macaroon ($3.75), and an Orange Cranberry Scone ($4). The cold latte and scone were mine and I enjoyed both a lot. The latte had great blueberry flavor and the scone was fantastic. We shared the baked treats, and the macaroon was great too, with plenty of chocolate chips, and a freshly made gooey consistency. We both noted how fresh everything was. This neighborhood grocery is a sort of a cross between a classic IGA and a Whole Foods. Coop membership gets you a very small discount, although somewhat better with a cooperating gas station nearby I know nothing else about. They also have a small café area with perfectly decent self-serve coffee, and a small hot food short-order window that is quite good on the simple foods front. It's pretty relaxed and the ingredients and preparation are excellent, if not quite gourmet. The front of the store has a few old-school playground pieces - a hexagonal merry-go-round and swings - and the back has a picnic table overlooking a field with goats, cows, and horses together, so it's kind of a fun spot to stop with kids. It's right on the Rattlesnake Gutter road, which stops halfway through Leverett, and is near the Old Coke Kiln (just a mile around the corner on dirt roads) so for hiking, biking, and exploration it's a nice little push-off point. There is no cell signal down here, but they do have a single internet café station (very old school style) if you need to get connected. Good luck ever "checking in" Yelp style here though.

I've never been to a place with such a friendly staff and a wide variety of coffee and food before. If I had to pick my favorite thing about this shop, it's the staff. Me and my boyfriend became regulars at this shop, and they always treated us with a big smile, asked how our weeks have been, and just over all seemed to genuinely care about us as customers and people. They would always be so excited to show us the new season menus, as we always tried the whole menu when it came out; they always wanted our opinions on the coffee. I buy my coffee beans from this shop, even still now that I don't live in Massachusetts anymore. If you're looking for a coffee shop in Amherst, this is definitely the best around.

I was 40 feet from the door, and the smell wafting toward me was fabulous. Inside, there were several bakers preparing muffins and other goodies (for the next day?). Lucy was waiting on a woman who had driven down from Brattleboro. This woman was praising the decaf coffee, and baked goods. I opted for a lemon bar and an almond croissant with chocolate. They initially said it would be a 45 minute wait, but it actually turned out to be less than 10 minutes. We were greeted by a very lovely, smiling and upbeat young lady who took us to our table for 2, which was wick followed by our equally lovely waitress. The food was excellent and the syrup of course was perfect. We enjoyed seeing the young families and couples all sharing large family style tables and enjoying the moment. Quick tip: get there around 10AM after the rush and you should get a table pretty quickly! The ride up to the farm is fun and provides an excuse to drive into the hills that you may not venture into otherwise. If you haven't done it before, please go and treat yourself and your family, if like me you haven't been back in quite sometime, GO because I regret missing past years of treating ourselves to this experience.
