We also asked if it was possible to sedate him to remove the mats and burrs around his face. Carson, our terrier is a rescue who had been abandoned four times during his first year. We are his fifth and final family. While he reluctantly allows me to brush his body and have his feet and butt shaved, nails clipped, he goes berserk when you bring anything near his head. One groomer called his to pick him up because he wouldn't allow them to touch him at all. He bit another groomer. Another veterinary clinic prescribed him anti anxiety medication which didn't work. We placed a muzzle on him and the veterinarian brought in the best vet tech ever! He tightened the muzzle, held and pet Carson during the exam. The tech also cleaned his butt, expressed his anal glands and clipped the matted fur around his face and on top of his head. He looks great! This is the same dog that required two vet techs to double muzzle him to put medicated drops in his ear and after 30 minutes, came back and told us that they were unsuccessful. The office staff went out of the way to call our previous veterinary clinic to obtain vaccination dates as the previous clinic redacted all dates on the records that they forwarded. Costs were clearly explained and agreed to before work was done. Veterinarian suggested trying to clip areas around the muzzle rather than sedate him. She was patient and listened to our concerns. If you are looking for top quality service at reasonable rates, check them out. You won't get fancy coffee, freshly baked cookies or an assortment of beverages and snacks. You will get kind, competent staff that will treat you and your pet with respect and make you feel welcomed.

I can't believe I am writing about another awful vet experience, but after speaking with other vets…read moreabout what transpired here, I feel like I have to. I was ripped off by extremely unprofessional vets and now I'm in collections for essentially dental work done on a clearly dying cat. My senior cat had bleeding of the mouth and wasn't eating as much in late 2024, so I brought him in. The vet refused to even touch him because he was hissing and upset. What kind of vet is scared of a cat? He didn't look into his mouth at all and sent me home. I came back some days later and we finally drugged my cat and looked to find he had some gum bleeding and needed a tooth cleaning and scheduled that. I also had to get expensive blood work done twice because he had high levels of something they didn't want him to have with anesthesia. Fine. But it delayed things so much that my cat gradually had his tongue hanging out and he couldn't eat. We go in for dental work in January 2025 and after several hours I am called in to get him, but first the vet wanted to talk to me. My cat had a massive tumor on the underside of his tongue. He was a senior cat who I was already force feeding wet food to, who was in immense amounts of pain, and now it was all making sense. Mouth cancer is extremely aggressive and it's not recommended to try to treat, according to many sources I asked, especially for a senior cat. A feeding tube or whatever else would have made the poor guy completely miserable in his final years and I would not have been able to afford it in the first place. They found this tumor and proceeded to do the dental work anyway, charging me over $1k of money I did not have and needed to use care credit for. Vets I have asked about this have since been appalled and stated they would never proceed without asking the client first if they thought expensive tooth cleaning would even be worth it. Because it wasn't. Mere days later, his quality of life was so bad that I had to put him to sleep. So thanks for the $1k+ tooth cleaning for my dead fucking cat. Really awesome.

After 10+ years of patronage and tens of thousands of dollars of investments with this Vet clinic,…read moreI wanted to share my recent experiences here! First, I would NOT recommend that anyone take their pets to this location or patronized any of their subsidiaries or specialists' referrals. I will say that the ladies in the front desk area are lovely, sweet people and over the years, I would often bring or purchase them with holiday gifts for their service, however the recent change in Management is horrendous! I've learned that Manny is the "new" Practice Manager and in my opinion is doing a horrible job! I've learned that several clients, including myself, have recently left this location due to lack of accurate information, gaslighting patient for clinical errors and the poor service/response rate from management. I recently called out errors on one of my pet's vaccinations chart and had to provide my own receipts to Manny and team for them to even acknowledge the inaccuracy. He insisted that he was correct until I presented the receipt showing otherwise. This is poor leadership; I never got an apologize for that! I recently had to endure a terrible conversation with Manny today where he was just determined to be RIGHT, rather than engage in active listening, again, terrible leadership qualities, zero accountabilit! If he is in charge over there, I would advise pet owners to steer clear! I have never written anything negative about this clinic until today! That means something. I decided to follow Dr. Sanchez at Animal Hospital of South Bay in Palos Verdes, CA. She is a compassionate leader who deeply cares about the patient and owner. I will only work with providers, referrals or clinics who put their patients FIRST! I had an awful experience at western Vet and the dental group that they referred me to recently. Good leaders take responsibility- you will not find that at this location anymore. BEWARE PET OWNERS!

Unfortunately as of this week I am leaving this practice with my dogs. Long story short, I scheduled a follow up ultrasound for one of my dogs and when I paid that deposit and made the appointment I specifically asked that it be noted in her chart that to the extent possible not to shave her. The dog is a champion show dog and already registered for a specialty in europe in a few weeks, with flights already booked and now the thousands already spent is completely wasted. I have had dozens of ultrasounds done in the last 15 years, both echocardiograms to abdominal ultrasounds and this dog in particular just had an ultrasound in late december. This was a follow up ultrasound and the practice shaved her entire underside and half way up her flank. Her coat will not recover from this for months, possibly for the year. I spoke with the practice manager and was basically told the doctor found it necessary, which is fine. The vet very well may have thought it necessary, but since it directly contradicts the owner's request on her chart, I should have been contacted before that happened so that I could decide to cancel her ultrasound and take her to another practice or some other solution. In fact when I dropped her off in the morning for intake, I was specifically asked to leave my phone number in case I had to be contacted regarding the procedure. The hospital had my number, and decided to just proceed how they wanted to. Completely unacceptable.

I can't remember the names of everyone at the front, but Rachael is a treasure when it comes to Trupanion insurance. Marissa has fought for us many times when they've tried to deny us coverage. Ani is super patient and gives us clear communication via text. My friend told me about AHSBRH's puppy wellness package which includes all the necessary shots and vaccines for a puppy's first year for $500. I compared prices and found out that if a person buys the puppy package, you'd be saving a ton of money for the necessary shots versus paying for shots individually elsewhere. Sold! We brought our pups in and they received their first examinations and shots. Easy peasy! The location is pretty modern, looks like a new, modern, medical clinic or dentistry office. We walked in and were greeted by happy and nice front staff members. After checking in, they walked all of us into room 1 and we waited for the vet and her assistant. Everything took about 45 minutes, examination of both puppies and their first shots, nail clipping and deworming. Definitely can't wait to come back in 3-4 weeks for their next shots and check-ups. Our boy had some spinal issues amongst other things as he got older, and Dr. Moeller was always honest when it came to his prognosis and also never pushed unnecessary treatment or medications. When she did advocate for treatment, I followed her lead and I am glad I did because it helped our guy live his final days somewhat comfortable before we had to say the hardest goodbye. The prices are also extremely fair coming from another clinic in Hermosa beach that was very high compared to this practice. I was beyond disappointed with my experience at this clinic…read more From the very beginning, the customer service over the phone was poor. I had to call to reschedule my appointment, and the experience was frustrating. I requested a Friday appointment, but they scheduled me for Thursday instead. Then, after rescheduling, they never canceled my original appointment. The staff came across as impatient and, at times, rude. Unfortunately, the experience only got worse once I arrived. The appointment felt more like a financial transaction than a vet visit. Before the vet came into the room, I told the staff that my dog doesn't like his back legs or ears being touched. I shared this so they could approach him appropriately and make the visit as comfortable as possible for him. The vet did not perform a physical examination or even attempt to examine him. Instead, the visit consisted of telling me which vaccines he was due for. She then left the room, and I was left wondering what exactly I had paid the $70 exam fee for, considering the entire visit consisted of her saying, "Well, he's due for all his vaccines." I also asked for a refill of Bravecto. The receptionist who came into the room to discuss pricing told me that if I did not complete the $60-80 heartworm test, they would not provide the refill. Since Bravecto itself is a flea and tick medication and does not require heartworm testing, this felt like another unexpected expense added to the visit rather than a clearly communicated medical recommendation. To make matters worse, the vet prescribed anxiety medication for my dog and told me I had to either purchase it immediately or, if I wanted to think about it and come back later, I would have to pay another $70 exam fee just to have the prescription written again. That policy felt incredibly frustrating and came across as prioritizing revenue over patient care. Overall, the entire experience felt like it was about money at every turn rather than providing thoughtful, compassionate care for my dog. I left feeling unheard, disappointed, and with very little confidence that my dog's best interests were the priority. I will not be returning to this clinic, and I would encourage others to look for a vet practice that places more emphasis on quality care, communication, and building trust with pet owners rather than maximizing charges.

I just wanted to leave this in hopes that Dr. Son and the staff might see it and know they made a real difference. Dr. Son is an incredible human being, and I am deeply thankful for the end-of-life comfort she provided my senior cats. Before I found her, when my soul cat was rapidly losing weight, we had gone to another clinic where they produced paperwork explaining the thousands of dollars I would need to spend just to reach a diagnosis. It all felt so cold. Then I went to Dr. Son. She quickly ran a few tests herself -- on the spot, in front of me, no removing the cat to another room where they come back stressed -- and told me she believed the diagnosis was cholangitis. A definitive diagnosis would require an expensive and, more importantly, painful biopsy that was unnecessary at my cat's age (15 at the time). Instead, we could start treating what was presumably cholangitis and focus on maintaining her comfort and happiness in the years she had left. With Dr. Son's help, the treatment kept her comfortable, lowered her kidney levels, and we had almost three more years together. So many overwhelming problems arose during that time with my two senior cats -- but Dr. Son would send me home with IV fluids, emergency medications, vitamins, over-the-counter suggestions, and diet recommendations. All of it was very affordable; I believe we were paying near cost for many things. I was able to care for my cats at home, empowered by Dr. Son's knowledge and kindness. I've seen negative reviews here about availability and curtness, and it saddens me. This clinic was truly in service of the animals. They were squeezing in as many appointments as possible, and Dr. Son was answering patient questions on weekends and evenings as well. Galloway had not been bought out by venture capital like so many other clinics that prioritize profit -- they were dedicated to providing cats with truly affordable, compassionate care. Thank you, Dr. Son and the staff at Galloway, for the dignified end-of-life care you gave my best friends. I can't tell you what it has meant to me and my family.
