Waited nearly 20 minutes just to get a waitress to take our drink order, ordered the food with the drink order, 40 minutes later, now an hour into being there still no sign of food. Just paid over $20 for food Shrimp and chicken that I waited 20 mins for and it was even cooked thoroughly. There are 4 shrimp that were barely pink, little pieces of chicken, the bread wasn't toasted and barely any alfredo sauce. Just terrible. The only good items were the mozzarella sticks. Maybe it's because I didn't add a tip for food I hadn't received yet. Now I'm glad I didn't! Drink was good at the bar and tipped waitress 18%. Now I see why I haven't been in a while. Restaurant was clean as usual and pretty busy. Seemed short staffed by everyone was still pleasant and working hard to serve everyone timely. We ordered the chicken sandwich tossed in the stinging honey garlic sauce. The sauce was very flavorful but not spicy. Chicken was crispy and the food always holds its temp until the last bite. When we ordered the smash burger the waitress advised it only comes well done and that was fine. The burger brought out was not a smash burger. It was double burger with thick patties. When we advised it was pink and the wrong burger she advised they can remake it but that's how it will look. She seemed to get irritated at the questioning so the burger was returned vs replaced. If this was the correct burger I don't understand why it's listed as a smash burger. Overall the visit wasn't terrible and I'd return to this location. read more

Came in a little late at night. Host seemed irritated that we came in, told us to sit at any table we wanted. The host walked over and dumped menus on our table without looking at us. Ordered a Guinness and it came in a can with no glass (only bothered me cause a seemingly Irish place can atleaat put the Guinness in a glass). The crab dip tasted good, but the peta bread was slightly burnt. The crab soup was literally just cream and mushroom soup with crab in it. Very disappointed in this place after driving by for years. Love this Place! Have been going here for over a year going with a group of coworkers at their old loation across from Mcdonalds. Its kind of become our tradition to meet up after work here about one friday a month! & everytime We get the same server LIZ!! shes amazing and remmebers our drinks orders as soon as she sees us walk in! All of their food is affordable and the even have specials throughout the week and a good happy hour!! One of my favorite dishes to recommend by far is the spicy tuna bites!!! The atmoshphere here is always friendy, food is always hot, and customer service makes you feel warmly welcomed! We will continue to be regular customers to this establishment!! read more

Recently popped into Kelly's Tavern for a late night bite. Thankful that they were still open after I got off work. It seems like late night establishments are harder and harder to find during this post-pandemic world. It was pretty tame for a Wednesday night with about a dozen patrons. The DJ was cranking the tunes like as if the bar was full. Their booth seating area had already shut down, so the waitress found us a seat as far away from the DJ as she could find to try and minimize the volume intensity for us which I thought was nice. Nothing against the DJ though. It was too chilly outside, so we opted to sit in. The waitress was very sweet and never made us feel that they were closing soon, which it was, in about an hour. I opted for something "light" since it was pretty late and I have braces currently so can't do much of things that I have to bite into. Most of their items on the menu are handhelds, so it suited me just fine to get a bowl of broccoli and cheese soup and some mozzarella sticks that comes with a marinara dipping sauce. Love soup season and can never go wrong with cheese. Broccoli soup was good. Typically what you would get at most places. It was not too watery, but not super thick either. The mozzarella sticks were great. I was playing with my food and attempted at a cheese pull and made it as far as my little arm could stretch (see pic haha)! The dipping sauce was great. The sticks were definitely my fave of the two. My friends ordered between them pretzel bites and burgers since burgers seemed to be the star of the show on their menu. They both came with fresh fries, a bit on the dry side IMO though. I stole one off my friend's plate, so I got a taste. Kelly's Tavern has been a long standing establishment in this area of Virginia Beach. I used to live near there the last time we were stationed here. They used to be located by the street in the same center as the Walmart market, but relocated around the corner on Centreville in a brand new building. I love the new look. Wished we could have sat in the booth seats though. The higher chairs are real nice looking but real hard to sit on for a long extended period of time. The DJ kept the group of patrons present entertained and they even had karaoke toward the end of the night. And our waitress definitely made our visit enjoyable. Super chill gal! Late night bite? This was the place for myself and group. We were loooking for a place that was open past 10pm. Waffle House was not calling out name. We needed something bigger and better. This is where Kelly's Tavern came in. We were seated promptly. Out waitress was helpful in figuring out what to eat. I went for a burger, along with a friend. My other friend did soup and mozzarella sticks. Food was good. Burger was not too bad. Mine was a little over cooked and dry , but good flavor. Kelly's delivered just what we needed. I think because this is a newer location, it's clean and inviting, I expected more and ended up being a bit disappointed. After a long afternoon of playing at the park with our little one, we were in no mood to go home and cook. Kelly's was right down the street and we were eager to see the renovation of the former Andrea's pizzeria. On a Thurs evening, the place wasn't too crowded initially, but we expected it would quickly fill as we got closer to game time, which proved to be true. We were sat immediately, though it took a few minutes before our server greeted us. We ordered drinks and our server disappeared. It was quite a while later when she returned to tell us nothing we ordered was available (including milk for the little, though it is listed on the menu). So we selected other options while browsing the menu. Historically, Kelly's is known for their burgers, but we opted for lighter fare on this visit. Hubby had the club and chili, grilled cheese for the little and a salad for me with grilled chicken. Wait time wasn't terribly long, maybe 15 minutes. Overall, the food was just ok. Hubby would have liked his sandwich better without burnt bread, but he didn't want to wait for another to be made - we did let the server know to pass along the message. My salad was meh, and chicken plentiful, but there were quite a few pieces of rotting lettuce mixed in which was unappetizing. I appreciate that they offer fresh fruit with the kids meals, but the grilled cheese was super greasy on the outside with a bit too much butter. Service was decent for the most part. Overall, not a huge win and, like most Kelly's in the area, I won't go out of my way to return. read more

I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and attentive as she could be (it was a busy night). My burger was cooked at the temperature I requested and tasted delicious. If you have a mobile order might as well just accept that really don't care about you or your food. My husband got there to pick up the order and waited 20 minutes for someone to assist meanwhile he's staring at the food the entire time. Just waiting for someone to tell him that's his or to hand it to him. Finally Someone comes up to him and asks what he needs he let them know he's there for a mobile order. They walk away and disappear AGAIN. Still don't give him the food. Finally they come back and give him the order 30 minutes later. When he gets home we find that my French dip doesn't even have the au juis. I try to call the restaurant and OF COURSE their phone doesn't work. Honestly. What's the point of having a number listed if you don't actually answer for anyone. May just avoid this location from now on. At least until they can get their crap together. Wild that y'all request a tip on mobile orders but give this kind of service. read more

Mmm... I've loved this place since it opened, but lately it hasn't been the same to me. The service has been consistently good (if not great). It doesn't take long to receive our orders. What got me about my most recent visit was the mix up in orders. My wife ordered a burger to be cooked medium-well and our guest wanted her burger to be cooke medium rare. They were two different types of (patty melt and a regular burger) burgers and neither one wanted to swap burger patties. Both patties were pretty rare in the center at most, as much as I'm trying to be understanding, we didn't want to ask for the burgers to be cooked a little more because it was getting late already. By the way, this is the first place that I've ever seen a lettuce and tomato on a patty melt. The order of garlic parmesan fries came out soggy and warm at most, like they've been sitting for awhile waiting to be picked up. This night has probably been the better visit in reference to the surroundings, some night (karaoke night) will be suuper loud obviously, which is fine, other times it will be some people at the bar having a few too many trying to start fights with people trying to have a good time. A 3.5 rounded up to a four. The food and ambiance were excellent. But, like many restaurants, staffing is short and things are misunderstood, slow, or forgot in the haste. Kelly's moved across the street to the old Greek place. It's pretty and modern inside though! Parking seems a bit lacking, especially if it were busy. And I made the mistake of turning too soon into Wawa, thinking I could cut through. The inside of the restaurant is open and feels big, even despite the big TVs playing sports. Hostess was nice, was able to seat us quickly and provided napkins, menus, and utensils. Out waitress was a nice young lady, but I think she was a little new. Had to ask a few things, misunderstood some of the drink order, and had to ask her for waters 3 times. Luckily, it was rectified and no one had to get pissy. I only saw two waitresses, service was a little slow as a result. The food was excellent. I nibbled a bit of the crab dip, it tasted strongly of the creme cheese and could of used more spices, but it was still good. My mom enjoyed her bacon cheeseburger, it was cooked as she asked. My dad was very excited about his fish and chips. He raved about his fish and the nice ranch he dipped his fries in. He quit on the fries once they got cold though. I didn't realize you can inter-change the protein on their wide selection of burgers/sandwiches. Besides beef, you can also get ground turkey, grilled chicken, or a beyond meat (vegan) patty. I opted for the grilled chicken and it was tasty, juicy, big, and grilled nicely. Lots of sides to choose from. Definitely a place to stop by to watch some sports or eat a nice sandwich with the family. They have a large bar area, full bar, seating in and out side, and happy hour til 7pm (I think). read more

I ordered calamari, a cheeseburger and fries for my son, and an All American Cheeseburger to go. The calamari came out burnt and I actually felt I'll after eating some. My son took one small bit out of his burger and barely touched his fries. The cheeseburger I took home was dried out and overly cooked. If it weren't for the attentive staff, I would have given them one star. Sad to see Kelly's has gone downhill so much. read more

Our visit to Kelly's was pleasant! We went during lunch on a weekday, so it was a small crowd. Great atmosphere... you could tell people make this a regular spot. The restaurant was very clean! Our waiter was kind and attentive, although she did forget to give us napkins/silverware. We both ordered chicken cheesesteaks and fries. The cheesesteaks were incredible!! I'd go back just for those! The fries were cut and fried fresh in house.. my husband loved them but mine were a little over cooked. Thought we would give Kelly's a shot and DO NOT GO!!! We went on a Sunday at lunch. It was a clean inside and nice decor not too crowded but severely understaffed I had to get up to find an employee to get another drink and then after a hour and a half of no food we gave up, asked for the check for the drinks and went to sonic across the street that does actually serve food in a decent time as well as gives a peppermint with your cherry limeade. Yesterday, on a Sunday morning (6/26/22), my husband and I sat around drinking our coffee were both hit with hunger pangs. We'd sat around too long to get breakfast and ultimately decided it was time for an early lunch. We remembered that Kelly's had reopened with a new building off Centerville and bam! We were on the way! We were the first customers to arrive. The building, landscaping and ample parking lot are all quite nice. When we walked in, we were immediately seated by a genuinely friendly guy who took our drink order. I had iced tea. Husband asked for water. When he brought our drinks, my husband decided he also wanted a Bloody Mary. It took us a few minutes to decide on food but he checked back promptly. I ordered the Honey Habenero Burger done medium well with the natural cut fries and my husband got the Fish Tacos. Prices have gone up in recent times but that's to be expected. Also - the Bloody Mary was only $2.50 for a Sunday special! Our bill was $38 plus we left a $10 tip. Food was DELICIOUS! Service was EXCELLENT! Everything start to finish was PERFECT! We couldn't have asked for more. The new restaurant itself is beautiful. We were sat to the left side as you walk in. There were several tv screens within viewing area for all on just that side. Additional screens for the bar and right viewing areas. The bar is HUGE and gorgeous. The covered outdoor seating area is large and perfect for casual hangs with a nice breeze. The parking is ample and even includes some shady spots under the large tree out front. I've been a fan of the various Kelly's Taverns in our area since the 90s. I've seen them go from packed to barely making it or shutting down all together at certain locations. I've enjoyed many lunches, dinners and late night bar sessions throughout the years. The food has always been consistently good in my experiences. Burgers are AWESOME. Salads are THE BEST. Appetizers are YUM. This location has all the right ingredients to make you a happy patron. This is for center vile turnpike Kelly's restaurant not general booth. The food is wonderful here. They make the best quesadillas and margaritas I've ever had. Their prices are very reasonable. A server we had today at 2pm was very unfriendly. She is a dark haired dark skinned lady very slim. She asked us 'what would we like' in a verry hurried manner, as if she had no time for us. She was terse and did not smile. This job does not seem to suit her. The chef brought our meal. She brought our drinks. When we asked for a container for a large amount of food she brought many containers but urged us to shove all the food in a hamburger sized container. While I was mulling that over, she simply walked away like if I didn't say something she was just going to leave not giving us ANY container. So I replied, Please give me the larger container, she stopped and gave us only one. We did not leave her much of a tip. Bad service. read more

Something really strange happened today!! I decided to visit this business with two of other friends to a quick drink since it was close to his house around 10pm. Soon as entered the door and waited for the host, She came up and let us know the she was not comfortable serving us. We were surprised since this was the first time we visited this business. She told us that there we had not behaved properly with one of the servers in our previous visit and the business was not comfortable serving us. We are Asians and I am assuming she assumed us to be someone else. I personally was very offended the way we were treated. I am glad that I was not offered any service there. I feel sorry for the individual who must have been treated inappropriately but this was not the rite way for a business to operate based on assumptions on how we looked. I would not recommend this business to anyone and make sure that anyone I know does not spend their hard earned money here. read more

The folks we interact with are great - always! But there seems to be consistency in the food. We keep giving this restaurant another try because we have had a couple of really great meals there. We went last night and except for the chicken bites which were absolutely perfect, the meals were disastrous. My husband got his usual fish and chips and all he could barely say was that it was okay. Once upon a time it was the best he had around here. I got a Reuben but it would be better called a sauerkraut sandwich. I took the sandwich apart to see if there was any meat on it. Found a very little and unfortunately I mean that. So little that there was no corned beef flavor. Lots and lots of sauerkraut (thank goodness I line sauerkraut!). Stopped in for lunch at about 2pm. Not busy at all. 3 tables seated with a total of 7 people and one man at the bar. Ordered our food which was simple salad/soup, soup/sandwich, an order of cheese fries and fried pickle appetizer. Took 40 mins to get our food. (Again, restaurant was almost empty) when we got our food the fries were barely lukewarm and cheese was hard. The salad had onions which we told the waitress three times "no onions" chicken salad sandwich (which I asked for toasted) was grilled with so much butter that when you bit into it the butter dripped onto plate and down my chin. Fried pickles were cold and greasy. Lots of breading and barely any pickle. Potato soup was not great. Tasted as if it had been reheated. When the waitress returned she asked if we needed boxes and I said no the food wasn't good at all. She said ok and walked away. Didn't seem concerned that customers were not satisfied. So overall left unhappy and still hungry with $50 less in the wallet. I don't recommend. read more

Can't tell you how the food tastes because the service was so bad we left! Got sat pretty quickly at a table at 7pm then took almost 10 minutes before a server came by. She wasn't super friendly but no big deal, we were just happy to get service. We ordered 2 beers & a sweet tea. Then watched her wander around the section and clear off tables. Then another party - about 7 people get sat. She shows up in 2 minutes to get their drink order then walks by with THEIR drinks. 20 minutes later, still no drinks and we walked out.
