We were celebrating a good friend's birthday and it was our first time at The Tailgate Sports Pub. We are so glad we found this place! The service is great! Mariah was so attentive and very friendly. She checked on our group of tables and made sure our drinks were full and our food was delivered hot. The atmosphere at Tailgate is fantastic. Wall-to-wall TVs let you catch your favorite sports events. There's a nice variety of seating to include the full bar, high top tables, two truck beds crafted into booths, and spacious outdoor seating with a corn hole game set up and more. The menu is loaded with so many options. We chose Boneless Wings and Loaded Fries. Both were so tasty! The Nachos were good, too. But, the Bavarian Pretzel Bites were definitely the MVP! OMG, these soft fried pretzel bites are amazing. They're a MUST try. If you're looking for a great place to relax and unwind, or celebrate with friends, look no further. 1/5 Extremely disappointed with my experience at Tailgate Sports. I left a cash tip for the bartender, but later noticed an additional tip had been charged to my card. I did NOT authorize a tip to be added to my card because I had already tipped in cash. That is completely unacceptable and made me feel like I couldn't trust the staff handling my payment. On top of that, the customer service was poor and the situation left a terrible impression. I strongly recommend checking your receipt and bank statement carefully after paying here. Best wings in town...hands down...bar none. Prove me wrong. The only problem with The Tailgate is that it's packed on game days. Apparently I'm not the only person who knows about this authentic, fun, classic sports bar tucked into the back corner of the shopping center. The service is friendly and there's a 'locals' vibe. Fantastic little sports pub, that just so happens to be right in the neighborhood! Since moving to Virginia, we've been on the hunt for the perfect spot to watch Pats games and finally found it. There isn't a huge amount of seating inside, but they also have a great patio area with games such as cornhole available. They have tons of TVs which the staff was willing to change channels on and good, cheap drink specials. The best part of our experience was the food. Everything we ordered was delicious and SUPER affordable. As appetizers, we tried some boneless wings and their fried mushrooms. Both were great. Their homemade ranch was also super good, but we wished the blue cheese was a little better. Entrees: I got the cheesesteak. Loved it. Even the side salad was high quality. If you're looking for a new favorite sports bar, this is the place! There is minimal indoor seating but the environment is great. Some booths are even set in the bed of a truck, how cool! The outdoor seating area is set up like a backyard, equipped with cornhole, bar, TVs, and plenty of seating. The food is good (try the mozzarella sticks). Make sure to stop in on Thursday evenings for bingo, it's my favorite day. read more

The best thing (aside from many other things) is that you don't have to pay to play nor pay for the dotters/bring your own. Immediately greeted and seated. Took a bit to flag down a waitress to order, but everything else was smooth sailings. The owner & the regulars really make the place! I love the vibes. There's many TVs, slot machines, a bar, + outside bar/seating. Music playing of all genres. Thursday night bingo begins at 7pm and we were ready to rumble! The games were quick and you could see the called numbers on the screen. The regular games you could win a drink ticket in which you can go and spin the specials wheel or you could go for double or nothing! Throw the dart & hit blue for double drink tickets or none; the risk is yours! The last game on each card was the cash round. Whatever was the last number you dotted, that's how much cash you won! But no worries if you land on B2, the minimum winnings are $20. O75 was calling my name!! Delicious drinks for only $6 and a boatload if boneless wings that were half off with many flavors to try. Onion rings were just okay, but the garlic Parmesan fries were soooo good. First time trying green tea shots and I'm hooked! Amazing establishment that's a bit of a hidden gem in that shopping center of Floor & Deco. Can't wait to visit again. read more

I may be speaking a little prematurely here, but after two visits I totally think this is our new spot! I never would have thought to check this place out, but after being invited out by friends to meet them for Taco Tuesday and looking at Yelp reviews, we thought, why not! Taco Tuesday: $10 all you can eat tacos? Say less. There's 3 meat options: ground beef, shredded chicken and pork. The shredded chicken was GOOD. Our friends said the owner slow cooks it in the back. They were seriously delicious and so flavorful. We ended up eating 7 tacos, so definitely got our moneys worth and more. And their hot sauces were so good! I love hot stuff, and their hottest one had my mouth burning for 10 minutes-- I loved it!! Our second visit was for late night beer and snacks. Drink prices were great, and we devoured the fried pickles and nachos in record time. The only menu item that wasn't a huge hit with our party was the boneless wings. They were alright, just a little over-fried in my opinion. I will say though that they appeared to be hand-breaded, so that's always a plus in my book! Overall we've had two great visits so far and will be back! They also have bingo on Thursdays (I think?) which we really want to check out, and we can't wait to visit in the warmer months to take advantage of the patio! read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon, not during football season. Sports bars aren't really my kind of vibe and I definitely didn't have high expectations to enjoy this spot. We picked it, because we had dogs joining us and part of their patio is covered. With the threat of rain near by we figured this was going to be our best option. We spent probably four hours there eating, drinking, and catching up. We had the patio all to ourselves, but I'm sure this wouldn't have been the case if it was football season. They have cornhole outside and the patio has a nice fence around it which was also perfect for the dogs. Our service was fantastic! She took great care of us, but also gave us our space and never made us feel rushed or unwelcome. I did go inside to use the bathroom and everything inside was clean. They have booths styled after cars which was a pretty cool vibe. The area was small, so I can definitely see it getting packed pretty quickly on game days like the other sports bars in Coastal Virginia. The person I was dining with ordered the BBQ Sandwich. They loved it, it was an incredibly generous portion too! Unfortunately, my grilled cheese wasn't generous or super appetizing. It tasted like fast food or from a basic cafeteria. Very artificial and even with my love for grilled cheese, not something I would order again. I hated their draft beer selection. The only local/craft options were IPAs and the server wasn't super helpful making suggestions. Personal preference though. I probably won't be back for a long time, because - again - sports bars aren't really my vibe. However, this is definitely a place I would recommend for game day! Been wanting to check out this place for a while and finally made it out today. Restaurant was clean and the Food was good. The bartender / server was super friendly and they had a good beer selection. We were the only ones in the bar for the first 20 minutes or so so it was pretty quiet. The app came out quick and hot. The main course took a little longer than I expected with us being the only ones in there but the service was great and kept our glasses full. The food came out hot cooked perfectly and flavorful. Plenty of TVS make me think this place is popping during football season. Highly recommend if you are looking for good American bar fare, good beer, and great service. read more

My first time here and definitely not my last. AYCE for $10 taco Tuesday, recommend 100%. I walked in around 4:30pm and was warmly greeted and told I can sit where I please. The server came over promptly, took our drink order and brought drinks very quick. The taco orders did not take long AND the tacos were always hot, well prepared and the filling was not skimped on. My favorite bar in town! I love coming for their bingo games on Thursday and karaoke on Friday!

Decided to come with my girlfriend for a late night bite to eat and drink , little did we know it's karaoke night so we were like ok cool might be a good time , so whoever the man is that hosts the Friday karaoke at 9 is prejudice and you cannot convince me otherwise (disclaimer we are black) so she requests a song and totally gets ignored so another white woman can play this sad a** stereotypical song about babies being born in the cold in the ghetto and robbing and using guns , common sense says that the song isn't talking about jim, mary and Paul , made me very uncomfortable. To add insult to injury a black recording artists song comes on and a white woman comes over and says you know the words right as if this is some negro spriitual and it's a given that just because I'm black I know everyyyyyy black song , couldn't be more wrong with that assumption. So if you're a person of color that goes to the tailgate on Friday nights just be prepared to be pissed off because I am. 0/10 would not recommend unless you're white. Oh yeah and I forgot how the host of the Friday karaoke proceeds to not only mispronounce my girlfriends name but plays the song she requested after a white woman came up after her.....very much shady read more

Clean place, good amount of TVs to catch sports on, they also have karaoke night as well. We had come in on one of the karaoke nights. I wanted to challenge the nacho challenge for kicks. That one hurt. Service checks in frequently with water refills as needed. In retrospect, they may have been checking on me to make sure the nachos didn't kill me. Can't have people dying in the restaurant obviously, the cleanup is horrendous. So I got the nacho challenge. And I failed the nacho challenge. That thing is 6 pounds worth of stuff. They even accommodated me adding veggies to feel a little bit better about the whole thing (it didn't). I made a few missteps in the construction of this thing though.My two missteps were the ground beef and the jalapenos. I didn't think that it'd be that bad in the beginning but with those intermixed to varying degrees throughout the 6 pound mound, they started wreaking havoc on my stomach after a while. I think this may be due to me not normally eating meat lol. The oil from the ground beef mixed with everything making it taste of it, and the jalapeno were the coup de grace. I obviously didn't think this through the whole way and I blame the drinking for that, but gave it a shot anyway. I want to say I made it about 2/3 of the way through so at least I can take on a challenge involving around 4 pounds of food lol. Even though I failed, strangely this was still one of the cheaper meals I had paying for the nachos due to failing mostly because eating a lot and eating out never really work out for the pocket book. I'd almost say just get it and share it because that's a lot and can easily be shared by 4 normal individuals. I'd stop by again sometime to try a regular dish. read more

I have to say, this is one of the better, if not the best, sports bars in the area. It's not very big, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality, both with their food and service. Tailgate has been open since (maybe) the beginning of the football season, and my friends and I have made it a point to check out our favorite teams here. There are plenty of televisions to watch a myriad of games, and they air UFC events, which are always fun. Keep in mind, Tailgate usually fills up for UFC, so you better show up early - maybe just before prelims begin, just to be safe. Their service has been consistently good. Their staff is friendly, accomodating and aren't afraid to answer any questions you may have about the menu. Oh yeah, and if you listen to local sports radio then you'll probably see Nick Cattles in there from time to time. He's Tailgate's owner and is always chatting it up with the customers, most likely about sports. Definitely say hi to him because he won't hesitate to talk to you and make you feel welcome. In regards to the menu, Tailgate's food is excellent. Albeit, it's typical bar food but they spin some of the dishes to give them a unique take, and admittedly they have some of the best fries around. Tailgate offers what they call the "Tailgate Sushi Roll," which is thinly-sliced sirloin, creamy pepperjack and jalapenos rolled together inside of applewood smoked bacon. It's not a traditional roll, but it sure is tasty. And based on my last visit (12/26) they are very popular. So if you're looking to root for your favorite team, and you also want to enjoy good food and drink with excellent service, check out Tailgate. I asked if they had any low tables were the Karaoke Was being held because we could not climb up on the barstools at the high tables. They said their is only one low table on the other side but we Could see the words on one of the monitors. I pointed out that sitting at a low table with all the high tables up front you could not see the area Were the singers were and that could easily be corrected by moving the low table up front. They said they could not do that. Well I have attended & worked in bars for over 50 years so I knew this to not be true. Tables are moved daily to suit the crowd or situation. This is was a hidden gem, I didn't know what to expect but I was impressed. The overall vibe is of course sports themed. The people mad it fun from the bartender to the overall customers. There is seating outside if the weather permits. Overall I would bring friends to hang out and wind down. I'm always on the hunt for a good sports bar. This one had some of the highest reviews in the Hampton Roads area, so I gave it a hot. The layout feels very homey, it's one small room with tons of assorted sports memorabilia all over the walls. I started with the steak bites appetizer and it was really good. They were cooked to a good medium, nicely seasoned. They were served with a moderately spicy horseradish cream and sauteed mushrooms and onions. For ten or eleven bucks, it was an excellent appetizer. The french fries were ok. It's hard to explain them, but they were the long kind of thicker steak type fries. The sweet and spicy BBQ wings ere pretty solid, not that memorable one way or another. The bartender was also really sweet and interactive. The main thing I didn't care for was the clientele. They were really loud, it felt like being in a degenerate casino with 8-10 people yelling at one table about bets they had on all these football games. Several times, I wanted to turn around and glare at them, but I didn't need the aggravation. I'd say it was a decent experience, I would consider returning if I'm in the area. read more

Stopped by for an afternoon of football and was able to get a seat at the bar minutes after walking in. TV'S all around the room so it was easy to find your favorite game. I ordered chicken wings mild and garlic parmesan and they were both great wings. Atmosphere was very friendly and the staff was attentive and helpful. Only negative was an air conditioning vent in ceiling dripped water every 3 or 4 minutes over my seat at the bar. The staff explained because of the packed house and having the ac turned down it tends to do that. I would definitely go back and just try to avoid that same seat on packed days. read more

This is such a fun, little sports bar in the Pembroke area! It's located behind Target near Judy's. My husband & I went in to watch the Seahawks game yesterday & had a great time. It's decked out like a normal sports bar, but they also have these cool truck beds that are converted into tables that we sat in to watch the game. Our waitress was very friendly & took great care of us. She helped us find which tv (they have lots of flat screens on every wall) & another guy hooked us up by putting the game on the tv directly in front of us. Great customer service! They also have a nice patio with a TV & speakers outside as well. We split a 1/2 order of their pulled pork nachos & they were yummy & enough for the two of us. Our waitress informed us that the salsa & chili was made in house. They have happy hour & Sunday football specials too! This is one of the best sports bars we've ever been to. TVs everywhere, even the bathroom! Owner is super friendly and makes the place fun. Bingo night! We were thinking, naw, but he said there were prizes so what the heck. Hubs won a free drink, then later called bingo when he shouldn't have so his lovely wife saved his skinny behind and hula hooped for him. Get the pretzel! It's huge and super good. Hubs had the steak bites and forgot to share a bite with his wife but he said they were very good. Shared a reuben with the daughter. It was reeeaallly good. The corned beef was so lean, possibly the best I've ever had. Fries were good too. Server was friendly and just the right amount of attentiveness.
