We had a great experience with Kelly's Automotive after a breakdown on I-5 while towing our fifth wheel from Southern California to Washington. Shortly after fueling in Medford, I noticed what looked like light smoke in the mirror. Within a few miles we had lost about an eighth of a tank of fuel, and after pulling off it was clear we had a major fuel leak after the pump--nothing I could fix on the side of the road. AAA towed both our truck and trailer to Kelly's. Even with other vehicles ahead of us, they diagnosed the problem quickly. The repair wasn't simple due to how buried the component was, but they handled it efficiently and got us back on the road. Jeremy, the mechanic, took the time to explain things and clearly knows his craft. Justin was also very helpful and communicative throughout the process. Breakdowns are never convenient, but we felt we were in good hands. I would recommend Kelly's Automotive without hesitation. read more

I took my vehicle in because I was told my a tire repair shop that the 1998 car needed wheel bearings, Kelly's automotive did an over all inspection and came back with other things that needed to be repaired on the vehicle making the bill $2783. After the service was done, the car acted strange and I returned to have them check their service and was told "it's old". Within a two days the car was running even worse. I took it to a different automotive shop and they could not believe my 1998 car was even worked on. I returned to Kelly's Automotive of Grants Pass showing them the service report from other auto shop asking for some kind of refund for the Unnecessary work and was DENIED. How unbelievable! I'm still paying for work done on a car that NO Longer works. read more

Had an alternator fail on a road trip from Seattle to Los Angeles. Ended up in Grants Pass on a Sunday afternoon. No repair shop was open until Monday morning so I found a nice motel to spend the night in and waited until the next day. 0730 on Monday found me waiting at their shop until 0800 when they opened. Cory the service manager said that they could probably repair it that day if they could get the part. It turned out that for my older car, an alternator would be hard to find and would not arrive until the next day on Tuesday. The next morning I checked in with Cory and found out that they had received the correct part and were busy installing it as we were speaking. By 1030 the car was done and I was ready to get back on the road. The car ran perfect and I was able to reach LA later that evening. Kelly's Auto did a great job and in particular Cory, the service manager, was polite, professional and very helpful in keeping me informed on the progress of the repair. I would gladly use Kelly's again if I ever needed to. Thanks to all the people at Kelly's who helped get me back on the road! Pro tip: if you need to stay overnight check out the Red Lion Inn which about 2 blocks up the street. It's recently remodeled, super nice and clean, and very reasonably priced. Also there is an Autozone about 2 blocks down the street from the Red Lion Inn as well if you just need some parts. read more

My vehicle's battery suddenly started smoking while I was parked and idling in a fast-food drive thru during the weekend. I came home and found the cover to the battery had a burn mark. I called AAA who checked the battery, then the alternator, and told me both were fine, but to be safe I should disconnect the battery and call a tow to a local shop. Being unfamiliar with the local shops, I looked at AAA's list (Kelly's is a AAA approved shop), then looked at a few reviews on Yelp and decided to call them on Monday to see if they had time to take a look. - before calling for a tow. They were very helpful, telling me what I could expect in terms of a timeframe for service; later that day, and a call back to let me know what they had found and pricing. I received a call the next day in the morning to tell me that they tested it -running diagnostics with no error codes, and had found chewed wiring (apparently rodents like the soy-based covering on auto wiring) and had replaced the wiring, tested the battery and alternator, and driven it, and no warning lights or smoke. The faulty wiring was the likely reason for the short, and they said while the battery tested OK, I might want to consider replacing it. In less than 24 hours I had my vehicle fixed and back, and it was as painless a process as I've encountered with any auto repair shop - ever! The pricing was more-than-fair, and their customer service was above and beyond. They sent someone to pick me up at my house and drive me to the shop to get my car, and at no point did I feel anything other than taken care of by this business. We all have struggles and challenges, but getting your car worked on isn't one of them if you come to Kelly's. I will definitely use them again, and recommend you do too. read more

If I could give Kelly's 20 stars I would.... To keep a long story short, my mother unexpectedly passed away the day before Thanksgiving. My fiancé and I traveled from CA, to Port Orchard WA to take care of her things and unfinished business. We decided to leave and come home late on a Thursday, after everything we went through...We had both my car and my moms loaded with my mothers belongings...unfortunately, in the middle of the night, my moms car broke down. After having it loaded up on a tow truck with an arrangement to pull her car back to Sacramento, CA, my car broke down as well. We ended up had both my car and my mom's car towed to Kelly's. The next morning we walked over to Kelly's to figure out what we could do to get at least one car running on a Friday. Sherri and her team couldn't have been more kind, helpful and supportive through such an unbelievable situation. Not only did they get my car running so we could get home Friday, but the car runs great and they couldn't have made the process any easier on us. We were truly lost. Kelly's isn't your average mechanic shop. They all are truly miracle workers. I couldn't have asked to find myself at a better place or with better folks. Shoot, I love them so much that even being 5 hours away, I'd do the drive just for the A+ service and experience. Wanted to like this business, but the inability to make an appointment, is a non starter. My first visit was for diagnostics. Had my vehicle at the shop when their doors opened. No, couldn't leave it all day, as do not live in town. Their diagnosis was great, mapping out all that needed to be done and I stayed longer while one of the services was completed. This morning, phoned for an appointment as knew exactly what was needed. Nope, no appointments. Bring in the rig and wait. All day? Could be, as there may be work waiting from the day before. We were driving from Portland Oregon to San Diego California. We got gas in Grants Pass and I noticed the plastic shield under the truck was hanging down. It was 5 pm and I couldn't keep driving. Kelly's was a lifesaver! My brakes failed on New Years Eve in the mountains near Wolf Creek on my trip to California. I had the car towed to Kellys and messaged them on Facebook. They responded to me on NYE! and told me they would take a look first thing when they opened on the 2nd. Sure enough, they took on my car even though it was a foreign car and they don't do foreign cars. The vacuum pump had failed, they got the part from Medford and had the car turned around in ~24 hours from starting on it. The Sweet Breeze Inn next door was a convenient place to stay while waiting. I broke down on Saturday night a few miles North of Grants Pass and, panicking, searched for the closest auto shop with good reviews. Kelly's kept coming up so I requested a tow back South and emailed them that night. Even though they weren't open on Sunday, Jared got back to me Sunday morning a few minutes after I emailed and let me know they'd take a look first thing on Monday, saying: "I'm sorry you're stranded here in Grants Pass. I assure you we will do our best to get you back on the road ASAP." He also offered to help out with recommendations for hotels and a ride to a rental car place or the airport. They were able to diagnose and fix the problem on Monday and I was back on the road and home that night. The pricing was fair and transparent. SO GRATEFUL to the folks here for the fast and kind communication and help during this little emergency. Have no trust in them as a mechanic . After a diagnostic and fixing it, said it was running great , died 3 days later , should not have been driven at all, since they said it was running great. It died on the way home, then was making a weird noise. And they charge so much for there services. Then I read the bad reviews on them , and then my neighbor told me about them doing the same thing to her friend. I would NEVER go there again. Expensive lesson learned , and they would not do anything to make it right. They said bring it back , are you kidding me, I had a gut feeling not to go back, and I was right . Had my air conditioning repaired by Kelly's. The next time I drove my car the cruise control didn't work. I thought maybe it was because Kelly's didn't hook it back up after replacing my air conditioning condenser so I took it back. They could have said "No everything was hooked up" and changed me for another repair but they admitted their mistake, fixed it and I was on my way. The ladies at run the office were very friendly and got my car right in to be checked out and offered me a ride home if I needed it. Kelly's is my Go To place for now on! read more

I don't generate too many reviews using the internet, but Kelly's Automotive is a business that most certainly deserves the credit they have earned. I called for an appointment and was told to come in the next day. I arrived, described my problem, and left my F-150 for inspection. The lady at the front desk recognized I needed a ride home and a second young lady ushered me to a car and promptly drove me home. Later that day I received a call advising me my truck needed new brakes and pads front and back as well as rotors. They did that entire job and called me early the following day to come in and pick up my truck. I did and my truck runs beautifully now. My entire experience with Kelly's Automotive could not have been better. These people believe in respect, are cheerful, honest, and treat customers as if they are family. We have tried Kelly's service on many different occasions over the last several years and have never been completely satisfied with the results. They have a wonderful, friendly and positive support staff however, when it comes to their overall results they fall short. In our experience, they have difficulty in identifying the correct problem and fixing it the first time, at a fair and reasonable cost. We spent many thousands of dollars with them on just our Mother's car, that after many visits in and out of their shop, they still couldn't properly fix. You be the Judge Several years ago we went to Kelly's and got a quote for some work on our truck. They quoted $1,800. Les Shwab across the street did the job for $900. Les Shwab did a superb job and the parts are in excellent condition still for half the price. A couple years later we have a check engine light that came on. After several hundred dollars in repairs on cylinder 5 and 5 visits they never figured it out. It turned out to be cylinder 4 that was actually bad. About a year ago they did some work, which did not fix the problem. When I pointed out that I just spent a few hundred dollars replacing a part that wasn't broken they wouldn't even give me a discount on fixing the actual problem. Jump to a few weeks ago. Took in my vehicle and was quoted $700 for repairs. I called other places and would you like to know who quoted significantly better prices for the same work? EVERYONE. I took my truck to kelly's automotive for a lifter tick. The girl at the counter treated me like I was beneath her. They charged me 3,500 didn't fix the lifter instead they did my breaks and replaced the seals in my heads and still didn't touch the lifter. And fixed my ball joints. At least that's what they said attached is pictures of my "new ball joints. Worst place ever!!!!! All those good stories about them on line are fake be careful. I had Kelly's Automotive replace the Timing Belt, water pump on my 2003 Ford Focus. David told me they would remove the $89 diagnostic charge since I approved of the work at a agreed budget of $800 including replacing the serpentine belt . A: The $89 diagnostic charge was not removed from my bill B: The serpentine belt was not replaced even though the final bill was $950, $150 over what I agreed on. It gets better: When I got my car back it was running worse before I took it in to Kelly's Automotive. The engine had a misfire and would stall at random. Of course the Check engine light was flashing. On David's advice I had the Ford Focus towed back at my expense to Kelly's since some fool did hook up the fuel injector on cylinder one according to David. David or anyone at Kelly's never apologized for the trouble I went through or even offered to cover the cost of towing the car to their shop or even thanking my mother for letting me use her car to get to work while mine sat their shop for a week to get the timing belt replaced or another three business days to find out one the fuel injectors was not plugged in. The bottom line that I was a first time customer at Kelly's Automotive and based on situation with the Focus repair, I will never bring in anymore business to Kelly's Automotive. P.S. The best mechanic in the world. Broke down during a snow storm and got towed here and they went to WORK. Had terrible work done previously at a shop and they completely fixed the issues my car was having AND called the other shop and got them to pay for all the new repairs needed. Couldn't recommend this place more. They also had a room in the back where we were able to relax while they took care of everything. Curtis and Matt were especially very helpful. Wow, we were impressed with Kelly's!! Had a bad incident on 199 when a boulder fell down right in our path. Couldn't avoid it, so hit it and were not sure of extent of damage and need to drive home to Sacramento tomorrow. Called Kelly's, Curtis said bring it in. They put it on the rack and everyone gathered around. One mechanic said "Now that had to be a 9 on 10 pucker scale." We dodged a bullet, tore off part of our bumper, turn signal, etc., but could have hit the windshield. They cutoff loose part of plastic side and refused to take any payment. Absolutely amazing experience. Our car blew a radiator hose a couple of miles outside of Grants Pass. We were able to essentially coast into the hotel we had planned to stay for the night. The next morning we started calling to find service for the car. David said they were very backed up (40 cars in front of us) but to bring it in and he'd see what he could do. Meanwhile we are debating having the car shipped and renting one to get back home. Matt the mechanic was able to get it in by end of that day and confirm what we thought had happened. They had to order parts and had it fixed the next day for about 1/2 of what we thought it might cost. Matt the mechanic and David at the front desk are simply awesome!!! read more

I was so grateful to the folks at Kelly's Automotive, who helped me out on a Monday morning after my car was towed there via AAA. I actually didn't end up paying for any services, but they helped liaise with Les Schwab across the street, transporting my flat tire over there, and then putting on my new tire & balancing it. They also corrected the air pressure in all of my tires, which were overinflated. They offered transport to and from my hotel (it was within walking distance), and were friendly and communicative. After spending time in numerous auto shops in the last few months to get the van fixed, I can confidently say that Kelly's was so exceptional that I felt the need to write my first review. From the amazing customer service when we walked in (thanks David!) to the time they took to explain the issues (and actually SHOW them to us, unlike many mechanics), this place truly stands out. I feel very lucky to have stumbled into here of all places on a long road trip. They are currently getting my van fixed up even though we stumbled in without an appointment of any kind.
