I travel to Maine quite often and am always looking for that next great find, whether its food, an antique, or waterfall. I come here to explore all that is Maine, and I've been coming to Maine for over 20 years. One thing that has always disappointed me was there reallybisnt a great variety when it comes to spice and flavor in Maine. With the whole covid 19 thing, we set our quest for flavor aside to find places that offered great views and relaxed mask rules and regulations, as we are just fed up with the ridiculousness of it all, but dont get me started on that topic. So onto finding this place, Kelly's Landing. You'll miss the place entirely if you miss the sign, as it's literally down a street right on Moosehead lake, so the views, well the views are incredible. They are in the process of changing their menu options slightly, but I opted for the bacon avacado burger. Now a burger is a burger, it's sort of hard to screw up a burger, and most places seem to have fine burgers. This place, the burger was cooked to my perfect liking of well done, the burger itself was extremely flavorful, juicy, and top notch. The waitress and hostess were so incredibly pleasant, drinks came out to us quickly. Our food was prompt. This was everything we were hoping for and more, as we have been in need of a good relaxing afternoon. Will definitely be back! read more

If you want a view on Moosehead, this is the place to go. Kelly's Landing is just outside the main streets of town but close enough for a quick bite and to still have a good crowd during good weather and high season (or a seaplane fly-in!). The deck is dog friendly and is long and spacious with several circular tables with umbrellas as well as a built-in bar deck with stools. Both lunch and dinner menus have great options. We quickly discovered our favorites: I ordered the sweet potato fries on both visits and my friend got the chowder that he raved about (he also stole some fries). There was nothing to rave about here, but it was my favorite spot while visiting Greenville, the view is worth 6 stars. read more

Wife and I arrived by boat from Rockwood and had a 15 minute wait. Got a couple of cocktails and enjoyed the view as always. Once seated, all the way down, that was the last time we were acknowledged for about 20 minutes. A server came to the table next to us once, never acknowledged us. What I think was the manager came and delivered water to the dogs next to us and no acknowledgement from her either. We have been frequenting this place for 20 years and haven't had this happen to us. It's been a bit slow but we are in Maine. May I suggest not to seat people if you can't serve them? We settled for homemade pizza on our grill at home. Best pizza ever. The people next to us with the dogs had been seated for 30 minutes when we left and had only placed a drink order. We will be back because we always frequent the bars and restaurants when we are here at camp. We appreciate them but thinking it's not working both ways. So sad. read more

Oh my God!! We went there for lunch and was the BEST meal I've had in a while!!! The staff was EXTREMELY cooperative with the service dog that accompanied us, asking multiple times if we needed anything at all for the dog. From the appetizers to the main courses, EVERYTHING was hot, freshly made and full of flavor. Their seafood chowder was full of seafood and rich and creamy. The fried mushrooms and mozzarella sticks were perfectly cook with fresh made sauces for each. The main courses from the Rib Eye grilled cheese, Ceaser Salad, Chicken cutlet sandwich and haddock sandwich were ALL perfectly prepared, deliciously seasoned and fresh!! There aren't many dining options in Greenville, and our tour guide from our moose safari suggested this restaurant for dinner. It has a pretty view of Moosehead Lake, but it was a little too cold to sit outside. The best part about this place was the waitress, who was very friendly and joked with us the whole time after I messed up while ordering my meal...it had been a long day. My haddock sandwich was pretty decent, not the best fish that I have had in Maine but could have been much worse. The breading isn't too thick or anything like that. The mashed potatoes I had as a side were a mistake, though...no bueno. Sides here weren't anything to cry home about, although my mom liked the salad bar fine. My grandpa didn't like the spaghetti, which was pretty watery and had a lot of mushrooms in it, which wasn't advertised on the menu. Overall it was kind of pricy, but with the limited options here it wasn't too bad. The waitress definitely helped keep this at 3 stars. read more

We ate a late lunch here during our August trip to the Moosehead Lake area and were underwhelmed. Covid has of course caused staffing shortages for all areas of hospitality and we have much grace for those stretched thin during this time. So while the service was slow it was warm and friendly and attentive. However the food quality was just below expectations. Not at all what you would expectation for a nice dining restaurant at all. Would not choose to eat here again when we return to the area. The dock seating area is beautiful and it was lovely eating there on the lake. They definitely have the steal on excellent location. Ok, so I have heard a lot of good things about this place from my parents and a couple of their friends, so I decided to make the trip to Greenville and give them a try. I have to be honest and say that I was very disappointed! For food I had the salad bar (best part of the meal) and a spinach artichoke pasta dish with grilled chicken. The salad bar was great but the meal went downhill from there. Maybe it was just an off night for the waitress, but everything was extremely slow, even though the restaurant was half empty. It took almost an hour for us to get our food, and when we did my plate was lukewarm and the sauce was kind of crusty on the edges like it had been sitting out on the bar for a while before it was brought over. I was super disappointed because it looked great on the menu! Waitress did not clear menus and dirty salad dishes off the table at all and we didn't get any refills on drinks (I only had water). The worst part was when the Waitress brought a couple over to the table beside us and sat them down while the table was filled with dirty dishes from the party that had just left! The couple asked of they could move to another table and the Waitress told them that they should really sit there because it was a better view of the lake (it was). The Waitress then disappeared for a full 5 -10 minutes while they were just sitting there looking awkwardly at the dirty dishes and trying to keep their hands in their laps. Food always good and daily specials but I never waiver from my lobster roll as always fresh and heaping with lobster. Daily specials vary from seafood to good old down home cooking which everyone loves. Average salad bar but always replenished and very fresh. Seating is good as tables not too close allowing good movement throughout restaurant. Very rustic and on the water so access by car or boat. Always a stop for us when up in Moosehead Lake area as you can count on a good meal with no frills but good service and always at a good price. read more

Of all of the food that we ordered, the only thing that was halfway edible was the quesadilla. in addition, it was a sit-in and dine out restaurant with multiple people and the waitresses were not wearing masks. This place is right on the water and has a gorgeous view. Unfortunately our experience was less than amazing. We looked at the drink menu at the bar, and that menu said "house wine $4.50." Additionally, a sign said "happy hour until 5, $1 off wines." We then were seated outside with food menus, no drink menus. It was almost 5, so when our waitress came to take our drink order, we asked if we could still get happy hour. She said yes. I ordered a glass of Pinot noir, and my husband ordered a glass of cab sav. The waitress did not ask further questions, so we assumed (perhaps wrongfully) that we were ordering the house wines. We ordered a second glass a little while later, knowing happy hour was over but still assuming we were getting the house wines for 4.50 per glass. We ordered a few apps in that time and then got our bill. The cab sav was $5.50 per glass, and the Pinot noir was $7 per glass. Surprised, I asked our waitress because we apparently had not gotten the $4.50 house wines, nor had we gotten the happy hour $1 off for our first glasses. She said that we missed happy hour bc she didn't put our order in before 5pm (her bad). She said there was no house Pinot noir (annoying, but I guess my bad). She said there was a house cab sav. The first and third points were what bothered us - not for the monetary value, which was nominal, but for the principle. We ordered before happy hour ended, and she said we were good to go, but then never clarified we still wanted the drinks even though we missed happy hour. Not a big deal if we missed it, but she should have told us. And as for the cab sav, if a waitress does not ask which cab sav, then she should give us the house wine, not a more expensive wine. Obviously the money involved is small, but the spirit of the whole transaction was just dishonest, so we weren't impressed. On a different note, the fried mushrooms were not great, and the seafood chowder was okay but not worth $7 for the cup. Make the trip to Rockwood Bar and Grille instead for amazing food, top notch service, and great value! read more

Went to get dinner before a moose tour. Was told we'd have a 10 to 15 minute wait to get a table. Was more like 20. We ordered our food right away when the waitress came and it took an hour for the food to come out. I ordered the special, haddock with ratatouille with a side of rice and my dinner companion had the Yukon burger. The haddock was super dry and crispy on the edges, but the veggies were good. The rice was a bit on the dry side too. The burger was passable, but nothing to write home about. While we were waiting for our food to arrive the waitress came out several times and chatted with other staff, but never once came over to check in on us. So she obviously had time to perform the service. Bottom line, I would NOT recommend this place. Nothing going for them, including the lack of ambiance. read more

We were in the neighborhood of Moosehead Lake, and were looking for somewhere to eat. Kelly's Landing seemed like a reasonable bet. Unfortunately, it was a losing one, for the most part. It's right on the water, with places to dock your boat and come in, and also to eat outside, if you like. It's not too crowed inside, which is nice - in some places you feel as if you're dining right on top of the next set of patrons and your chair backs bang together if you should decide to actually get up. We got a comfy booth with a reasonable view - almost right up against the windows. They have a pretty varied menu, and it was my sister and I, with a takeout order I needed to make before we left- hopefully when it would arrive to him still hot. It took a minute for our waitress to get to us, but not alarmingly so. Other than that, service was quite good and accommodating of my special request. She took my order for his meal and held it until we were close to leaving. As we often have a long drive to or from where we stop to eat, at least one of us always makes a visit to the facilities. The bathroom in this place is nicer than the one in my house! It was clean, well appointed and there was even a corner hutch! The roll was empty when I got there, but there was a pyramid of rolls available - inconveniently placed in an inset shelf behind the toilet - Charmin, even! But there was also a big - and largely empty, I checked - vanity right next to the toilet. THAT'S where the spare TP should be. But I digress. As I've been trying to watch my food intake, I try to order a side salad with every meal rather than fries, but I was weak this time. I ordered their "moose-something" burger - a beef burger with cheese (cheddar), onion rings, and their bourbon and onion bbq sauce. I caved and ordered fries, too, but countered that with getting their salad bar. I had asked the pleasant, efficient waitress - Kelly - but not THE Kelly - about their onion rings, being a fussbudget about such things - and she informed me that they were NOT homemade, but were frozen, so I got the fries instead. My sister got the salad bar, too, but she ordered the fried haddock fillet instead, with fries. The salad bar was excellent, IMHO. There was a big vat of lettuce/carrots/cabbage mix, and not a sign of any browning bits, which are a big turnoff for me. My only complaint with it was that its contents were kind of . . . damp. But it was well stocked and scrupulously clean, and I made myself an Elaine sized "big salad", hoping - in vain, it turned out, of course - to fill myself up so that I wouldn't eat too many of the fries. I had lettuce, shredded carrots, peppers (diced, which is nice, rather than those unwieldy rings), celery, croutons that were quite good, sunflower seeds, and chow mein noodles, with ranch dressing, which was less flavorful than I would have preferred, but it was a great salad, nonetheless. My hamburger was also pretty great - there were only 2 onion rings, and it really needed a third, but that's just a suggestion. It was juicy and flavorful and the bbq sauce was quite good, as were the aforementioned frozen onion rings, too. Unfortunately, my sister's fish was dry and flavorless, and suspected to have been frozen. In Maine, that's entirely unacceptable - I don't care how far inland you are. If you're going to offer fish, make sure it's fresh!!! In both cases, the fries were thin and crispy and entirely too good. My husband's takeout order was for a prime rib grilled cheese sandwich and onion rings. I asked him what he thought about them, and he said the sandwich was good but not particularly flavorful, and the onion rings were average. I would probably come back to this place the next time we are in the area, but, if we do, my sister will know to order the burger instead of the fish. read more

We had the worst meal there last week. We have gone to Kelly's for 30 years and it has never ever been this bad. $40 prime ribs were extremely over cooked and less than a half inch think. Mashed potatoes were like paste. Waitress never checked on why I wouldn't eat my meal. If not for my husband saying no I would have returned our meals. Kelly's Landing is a little off the beaten path which gives it its charm. The breath taking lake views and amazing breakfast selection keeps this place busy for every meal they serve. The restaurant is literally only a few feet from the lake so every table has an amazing view. If you lean too far over the railing, you're going for a swim! We came very early in the morning just in time to see the fog lift from the water and the sun cresting over the trees. It was a relaxing and a beautiful way to start the day. The ducks were waiting for us in the parking lot hoping for scraps, even chasing a few children for their toast! We ordered a bit of everything on the menu. I had breakfast potatoes with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon strips on top and my friend got the breakfast sandwich special with a waffle. The portions were out of control! Everything was stacked high and almost falling off the plate. We had plenty of left overs even for the next day. Service is slow but that doesn't matter with the lake views and tall stories from the locals about the bear and deer they've hunted! Great, fun crowd! read more

Having used to work here washing dishes as a kid, and coming back to vacation a lot. This place is more or less a local joint. The food is pretty awesome, but usually the included sides are older or lackluster in some way. If I had one recommendation, it would be to get the baked stuffed haddock, spritz some lemon on it, and give yourself a foodgasm. Seriously. I only order this when I come here and it's been almost the exact same every time. Delicious. Pair it with a long trail on draft for the ultimate experience. Update: last time we went this Sept, the haddock was maybe 85% as good as its been, so I guess my favorite dish isn't as consistent. Sigh. But they have chipmunks running around on the porch trying to get nuts left for them which was awfully cute, and you get to see the khatadin honk as it goes by depending when you go. read more
