Went out on probably what was the last motorcycle ride of the season and stopped here at Kelly's. It was my first time here. Wow! What a great place. I absolutely love all the "graffiti" on the walls The bartenders were great! Very attentive. We sat outside on the very small patio that has a couple of picnic tables and a bench. All good! So fun to read what others have written. And of course we added to the collection. Fun place. Affordable. If you're in the area stop in and leave your mark! read more

Kelly's Saloon is the darkest and diviest of all the Geneseo bars, but those who love it, LOVE it. It had been covered in 30 years of graffiti from college students and townies marking up the walls, tables, counters, floors and ceiling with sharpie signatures, drawings and call outs to college organizations. Unfortunately, it burned down and all that was lost. They have done their best to reestablish that aesthetic and have encouraged customers to mark up the rebuilt bar. As far as drinks they have all your standards at very cheap prices. Unique to Kelly's is Kelly's Juice, a kind of fruit punch that is slightly different each time you go, but generally tastes like a jolly rancher and is very sweet, but chocked full of alcohol. read more

If you are a Geneseo Alumni, like me, you likely remember Kelly's Saloon as a dark and dank place with a plywood bar top and 30 years of Sharpie graffiti covering the walls. It was absolutely perfect!! I was a Kelly's regular in my college days and was crushed when it burned down. On a recent day trip to Geneseo I found Kelly's rebuilt and open again! The new Kelly's is much more spacious and really well decorated. There are some remnants of the old bar in the form of the tin ceiling tiles on top of the back bar. The new bar is complete with Sharpie graffiti all over newly painted walls which was weird. I get adding to something already fully trashed with more junk, but it was strange to see a really beautiful bar and fresh paint defaced. The new owner/ manager introduced herself as Cathy's (the former proprietor) granddaughter. She was very friendly and chatty and was working hard. We had bottled domestic beer which was ice cold, so you can't ask for more than that!! I'm so glad that Kelly's is up and running again! read more

This and the Idle are the two main bars in geneseo. Between the two this is the bigger "Townie" bar. I prefer the idle but Kelly's was always on the list to go to. The bouncers are a little more strict here. read more

So the story goes that because Geneseo is a mining town, and because the miners got off work in the morning, you found people drinking at Kelly's at 7am. So the story goes... But honestly, I never met one miner in there. Their drinks taste like straight up alcohol. You're not really getting more alcohol though, they just use smaller than normal cups, the same amount of alcohol and a lot less mixer. So you just think you're getting more because your drink tastes like shit, but you're really not. Which leads me to a neat little trick I was taught here. If you feel like you're gonna throw up, take a deep long breath through your nose. You'll feel better immediately. Oh and the place is a shithole. But relatively, it's completely average. And when the college kids are away for vacation, the townies infest this place like roaches. Right townies? Wow, you made it onto the internet! Congratulations! Oh Geneseo college bars, and Oh Kelly's. How did I ever end up going to school in a town with only 5 bars? Maybe this is why I ended up graduating a year early, and fleeing to Manhattan, island of two bars on every block. But I digress... It has been so long, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. However, I have fond memories of your 90% alcohol drinks and wide selection of beer and three kinds of hard alcohol. I actually really like Kelly's. Drinks are stronger, which equals getting drunk faster, but it's not as packed as Idle or Vital... at least when I went. Good place to just chill around and talk to people. Careful though, because there's a couple of people who are REALLY territorial of the pool table here. read more

Probably the best bar in the 'seo. They make really strong drinks so 1 is usually enough for the nite. I highly recommend their tom collin's, which is made with lime or lemon juice and bartons (american for gin haha) read more

The best crockpot hot dogs in Livingston County. The beers are always cold and the staff is the friendliest.

First time back since the remodel! Looks great. Good job. A cider on tap and walls covered in writing which was perfect.

This is my go-to dive bar for something strong, cheap, and for great service. A little "grungy" and dirty, but that's what you expect coming here. Don't expect a high class experience--if you want that, try Club 41, the Vital Spot or the Idle. As for me, I choose Kelly's due to their great price. THEN I go to the other places. Tonight I was going out to Kelly's to celebrate a friends night before his wedding, the bouncer at the bar was clearly annoyed that we were still there (even though there was at least 20 other people also still enjoying their night) I understand you have closing hours, as a bartender I fully am aware of the annoyance that you feel when people stay past close however, the way the bouncer went about clearing the place out was absolutely ridiculous calling people in my party "d$&@: bags and a$$ holes" and actually threw a beer bottle at one of my friends. So very unprofessional, and quite honestly should be fired immediately, if not charges pressed against him for letting his frustrations get the best of him, and acting out completely inappropriately as an employee on the clock. Lashing out at customers despite what they say or do is absolutely unacceptable, I do not feel safe going to this establishment any longer if this particular bouncer continues to work there. read more
