It's Kelsey's. Food is decent for a chain restaurant. Reliable, you know what you're getting for the most part. The service though, was exceptional. The calamari had more peppers and onions than squid, but was tasty. The shrimp fajitas didn't have enough shrimp for 3 per fajita, which was disappointing, but tasty. My one daughter quite enjoyed her veggie burger which she said didn't taste like a typical veggie burger. The crunch mac and cheese was a bit of a disappointment, with just a crunchy sprinkle on top. The seafood pasta was good, and the steak, though a bit over the requested medium rare, was tasty and still good. But again, the service was excellent. I've been to a few Kelsey's over the years. I came for wings with my daughter. The kids burger for her was fine. Server was terrific. The first attempt at ordering wings, they came cremated not cooked. The second were on a diet and sadly one of the most underwhelming lunches I've ever had. Came in here looking to just clear my mind for a minute n have s drink. Ended up having the Flat Nachos too. The young lady that seated me was sweet n accommodating. My server Devin...he was adorable. Very attentive, didn't miss a best, got things right the first time, and made my time here (in literally writing this review while I'm still here in the restaurant ) easy, n enjoyable. I can't comment on the food honestly as I only had an appetizers (one that I couldn't finish as it was enough for 2 and very flavourful as well) so I'll give it 4.5 read more

This was my first visit to the Kelsey's Roadhouse in Barrie, Ontario. It's kind of tucked back at the long end of a plaza and can be easy to miss. I've eaten at Kelsey's for a very long time. The chain changed their menus and the look a few times, but I have found the experience to be pretty pleasant. This restaurant was very good. I did a build your own burger with a beet and goat cheese salad. Kelsey's has been a safe pace for me to eat as they do offer a few gluten free options. Best to confirm your level of gluten issues if you have them as the deep fryer is shared and a source of potential cross contamination for people with celiac disease. The presentation was very good. I don't eat my burgers with buns, so they can often look like an otherworldly meal at times. They did a fantastic job! The burger's flavour was very good. Nice flavour throughout. The toppings were good as well, but I believe they swapped the cheddar for American cheddar (cheese slice), and it was actually a very incredible match up. Nice fried egg, tasty caramelized onions, nice crisp bacon. Just what I wanted. The goat cheese salad was nice as well. Very fresh. The restaurant was very clean, service was good and very attentive, and the food came fast. All good and I will come back. read more

Patios finally reopened and we decided to go for lunch. Super strange to be back at a restaurant after months of not being able to eat in public really! They have two entrances, the front door is for take out/pick up, and there is a separate entrance for patio seating. The hostess offers you a physical menu or gives you the option to download an electronic one if you chose and asks you to sanitise your hands before entering. All tables are spaced out and I'd say you can't fit more than 40 people on the patio at a time. Servers were super friendly and it didn't take long for our food to come out. Food was tasty, hot and fresh. The cleaning procedures they have put in place are great! They truly wipe every single table/seat down and menu after every single use. It was great to see the staff taking the cleaning so seriously. I docked a star because the tables were super wobbly, our drinks almost went flying a few times. They really should take the time to go over the patio equipment to make sure everything is sturdy. Other than that it was a nice lunch! read more

I've had a chance to go to this place several times and I wouldn't leave a bad review if it didn't deserve it. Each time I went, the food served at the table was cold. The service was awful. The waiter made us wait more than one hour for our meal and when it arrived it was already cold and wrong food. I was very disappointed with the service. I'm not coming back. read more

I must confess this is the first time I've been to a Kelsey's. Having traveled to three-quarters of Canada over the last decade I've seen dozens of them, but never stopped. Unfortunately, this was one of the few places in the area open on our drive through Barrie so we decided to give it a try. While the woman working at the bar at 9pm on a weeknight was more than friendly and helpful the food doesn't impress. It's your typical chain food. Kelsey's is a spitting image of Chilis, Applebees, Fridays, on par with Jack Astor's and well it is a bit better than the Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters in town. On the other hand, if you're headed out to dinner with the family or a group of friends Kelsey's might be a good choice. It's a fun, upbeat place, priced fair and for something like a burger you'll be full when you leave and be able to enjoy the night out. The burgers aren't freshly hand-padded, unfortunately. They are frozen patties, but they do a good job at making them taste fine, and are larger than you'd expect. For a round of burgers and fries and a few drinks, you'll be served well coming here. read more

Nice Bar and set up like a sports bar with 3 giant screens and 4 medium sized screens, but don't request a game, because you may not get it. Terry, the bartender, nice enough guy, but neglected to put the NHL playoff game on when I asked. Granted Raptors take precedent being in the playoffs, and we're on 5 of the screens. The Jays game and CP24 were on the other 2. I was the on the rail with three others. Two guys were having a chat not watching. That's cool. And one woman was on her phone. Cool as well. All the booths were filled with couples enjoying their evening, but not watching the screens. I was the only one watching 5 screens of basketball and patiently waiting for Terry to put the game on. Oh and he said he could only put it on one of the medium screens. I guess market research concludes that the Big Game should on the two big screens over bottles. 3D effect? After a pint of beer and 30 minutes later he still didn't put the game on. So I left. That's all. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings and watched the hockey games, raptors and Jays game. Went for lunch around 12:45 pm on June 23 2018. My husband ordered bbq chicken burger with Caesar salad. I had Caesar wrap, French fries and gravy with a Pepsi. Husbands burger was dry and flavorless, salad bowl was not even full. My wrap was fine, although ordered mild sauce on chicken and chicken was spicy. Fries were far too salty and gravy dish was not even half full. Pepsi was watery, waitress at no time attentive (no refill on pop). We were given 1 set of cutlery for two people and no napkins. For the price we paid for the food, not worth it. Lots of better options for lunch. read more

My boyfriend and I come here often for a quick, cheap date night. We like to get the half price nachos after 9pm and a couple beers to wash it down. The servers are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is great, not too loud, not too quiet. My only complaint is that the nachos could be better. They taste fine just could use some more toppings. read more

We had the Two Can Dine for $50 special, a pretty good experience and friendly, attentive service. The spinach dip starter was excellent, with the cheeses blended nicely through a rich base, and the dessert is a totally insane, insulin shock-inducing bowl of warm, deep-fried brownie pops with caramel sauce. As for the entree, the maple mustard salmon was fine, if nondescript. The steak was a bit disappointing, it seems more designed to be topped with a mushroom sauce or something else on offer that would disguise the fact that it's a little bland on its own. The atmosphere is pleasant, although the outside is looking a bit shabby, with flaking paint and crumbling facade. Enjoyable all round. read more

The experience was atrocious. I'll preface this by stating that my wife did not want to go due to terrible service in the past but I convinced her based on a new menu and layout in the hopes they changed. My wife, toddler daughter and I went last Monday evening. It was not busy in there at all but from entering to leaving we were there for 1 hour and 38 minutes. While going through the menu, I see that chicken fingers were $13.99 and $3.49 to add a side (weird because every restaurant has a side with the main). I asked our server to confirm how many chicken strips and if it came with fries or not. She said she's only been there 2 weeks so she waited for another server to walk by to ask him. She asked "how many chicken fingers are there and does it come with fries?"And he replied in front of me "5 for adults 3 for kids and yes it comes with fries?" We ordered an appetizer, and 3 mains. The app came out first, then all 3 mains came at the same time. Any restaurant we've been to has always brought out the kids food first because it takes them longer to eat. I guess I should have specified that, so I can't blame them. My chicken fingers were cold and so was my wife's fish sandwich but my daughters pizza was nuclear. It was 40 minutes for our food to come out. The server said they were backed up and apologized. When the bill arrives, I see we were charged $17.48 for my chicken fingers. I asked her "I thought you said it came with fries? I wouldn't have ordered if it didn't as $13.99 for 5 chicken strips is astronomical." She left to confirm with another staff member. She ended up coming back with it removed from the bill and said "sorry for the confusion but we've removed it from the bill. It does state that in the menu you can add a side for $3.49" I said "I know that's what it said but it was weird that every other restaurant gives a side to their main which is why I asked to confirm." The total bill came to $69. I then wanted to pay with 2 gift cards (both said $50 on then but I know we used 1 about a year ago but didn't know the balance, the other had the full $50). I didn't know if she needed to scan them first or what but she just left me the machine after showing her I had gift cards to use and left to serve another patron. I swiped the first one which looked to have only about $2 on it and waited for her to come back. She then looks at the bill and says "ok looks like you're good to go. Thanks!" I said "no, I owe you money. At a very max, this card has $50 (again, I didn't know exactly how much) and the bill was $69. We at least owe you $19." She was confused. I tried to explain it to her but she had to go back to a manager, again, to get clarification. She confirmed how much I had on the first gift card and we used the second for the full amount. I then paid debit for the remainder $17. Overall I ended up giving a $7 tip (over 10%) but it was a sympathy tip. I do not recommend anyone going there and we will not again. read more

We were four adults and a baby with reservations at 5pm on a Saturday. Our table was located in the dining area that has been recently renovated. The lighting was so poor that I had to use my flashlight app on my phone to read the menu. At first glance I found the items on the menu to be expensive. I ordered a half rack of ribs and wings at a cost of 25 dollars. The food was luke warm upon arrival. There were only 4 wings (25 dollars?). The side was mash potatoes. It was a small scoop with a bowl of gravy. There was actually more gravy than mash potato Really? ...what does a scoop of mashed potato cost?. The coleslaw had a chemical taste to it. My wife ordered sirloin steak medium well. It arrived well done and the baked potato had been sitting around so long in the kitchen, that it was rock hard, the waitress was so embarrassed she wouldn't bring the baked potato to the table, so she offered to bring another side dish. My wife opted to wait for a new batch of baked potatoes to be ready. Again, the prices are not cheap. Customers are paying a premium for the poor quality and luke warm food. The waitress was constantly apologizing to us. At least they removed the cost of my wife's sirloin steak dinner from the bill. We will never go back there again.
