I was quite surprised with this place! My first time trying it, I ordered a small beef fried rice, veggie lo mein, and plain egg food young. The beef fried rice was fresh! Hot and light to the taste. It was perfectly seasoned. They give you a decent amount beef, it was chopped up in small pieces. Absolutely Delicious! The lo mein was great the next day after the season settled in. It comes in one size that is $12, you can split it between two people, the portion size is large. The egg foo young was decent, I wish it had more gravy & seasoning though. It was a small size, you can split that between two people. The total I paid for my food was $26, great service the lady was very kind. The ambiance was clean! Togo pick up only no dine in. Perfect restaurant for Gordon Ramsey show Kitchen Nightmares. If you like oily Chinese food this is definitely for you. I'll be surprised if it's around in six months. The white rice was oily. I couldn't recommend this restaurant. We live about a half mile from the restaurant and were excited to see it was a Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately it was a one and done! I received a flyer in my mailbox and decided to give them a try. I ordered a large order of the shrimp egg Foo Young. My order was ready in ten (10) minutes so I drove over there to pick it up. I want to see first hand what kind of place I'm ordering my food from. I entered the glass door with very dirty windows as the interior space didn't look very sanitary to me either. However, some of the best food I've had came from places that looked like a dump, it's just a matter of do you want to eat from such a place. I have to say the portion size was quite adequate. However, it completely lacked any real flavor. The gravy was weak, watery and flavorless. I've had much better Chinese when I lived in Chicago where options were many. I have yet to find a great Chinese carry out that serves tasty food in a clean space. Sadly, I must keep searching to find satisfying Chinese food as this place isn't it. Not recommended. read more

We should have trusted the bad reviews. We tried this place out of desperation, as it appears to be the only Chinese place left around, and were hopeful that it would be okay. What a disappointment. Beef and broccoli - devoid of flavor, literally tasted like nothing. Orange chicken - scooped straight from the school cafeteria. Pretty sure it was frozen popcorn chicken tossed in sauce, which by the way was not an orange chicken sauce. Chicken with vegetables and chicken fried rice - you know that weird flavor when you've waited one day too many to cook the chicken you put in the fridge to thaw, and it just starts to turn a little? Was looking for good food from a new place but..... The orange chicken sauce was good, breading was good, but the chicken was so over cooked, the pieces were like wood. Opted for the chicken fried rice instead of the plain rice but it was soggy. Egg drop soup was average. Decided to try this place out with my hubby when we wanted a switch up on Asian food. Ordered two general tsos chicken dinners one spicy, one not, fried potstickers, veggie lo mein and got the egg rolls and fried rice. Food over all was good. They use more soy sauce than I like personally but my hubby enjoyed it and the dumplings. Wasnt a fan of the general tsos. The dumplings were great. The lo mein was decent ( my picky toddler enjoyed them so it was a hit) and the general taps finally didn't taste like orange chicken ( like most places) it was quite good. I placed an order over the phone to pick up, which consisted of a Large Sesame Chicken and a Large Chicken Fried Rice. I was told about ten minutes. That's a quick turnaround and I was excited to hear that as I didn't feel like waiting. The Sesame Chicken was pretty saucy and it had sesame seeds sprinkled nicely over all the chicken. There was also broccoli in the platter, but I'm not a fan of broccoli, so I steered clear of it. The portion was good and I shared it with my girlfriend. We couldn't even finish it together. The Chicken Fried Rice was awesome. It was cooked just right and the vegetables added flavor. The chicken tasted fresh and none of it was chewy. I can tell they didn't cheap out on the quality. We're relatively new to The Region and have been waiting for a few things we miss from the Illinois side of Chicagoland; notably good bread, good seafood, and *good* Chinese take-out(!!) Finally! We have found our answer to one of these. Ken King is hidden in a very bustling strip mall and we only recently noticed it. We weren't in the mood for pizza and checked this place out. Best of all they delivered!! To the food - they have pork-fried rice!! And it's so good. The closest, to us, competitor does not. For some reason. The chunks of pork were amazing!! The BBQ pork ribs...amazing! Great flavor, not too much fat. The hot-n-sour soup was the best we've tried in the region. While it had some heat,, it wasn't overwhelming. It was stuffed full of tofu, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Sweet-n-sour chicken had thick pieces of chicken and the sauce was done very well. Please understand, we're talking take-out. This review is not to compare to a Michelin star. That said, for Chinese take-out/delivery, this is the best we've found in our little slice of NWI. read more

The food was excellent. Some of the better Chinese food in the area. There wasn't a bad tasting item in our order. From the Walnut Shrimp to Shrimp fried rice, it was all good. The price isn't bad either considering the quality. The only 2 downsides: 1. Delivery takes a while, we waited nearly 1.5 hours but they were up front about it. 2. They use staples to secure their food in the packaging. One of the staples ended up in my food and in my mouth. I know they didn't mean for this to happen but they need to move away from staples. The most disgusting Chinese food I have ever received. I ordered 2 different types of egg fu young with the gravy on the side along with an order of egg rolls. Food was received as ordered. Upon first bite of the egg fu young with no sauce I noticed it had a bitter aftertaste. The outside was very dark around the edges. The inside of the egg fu young has a texture I have never experienced in an egg fu young. It had a chalky pasty texture and the bean sprouts were totally deflated, so either they were so old they were decomposing or cooked way too long. I had to rinse my mouth with mouthwash to get rid of the bitter - rancid - burnt - egg rollish taste of the oil. Got up the nerve to taste the other order of egg fu young. The appearance was much better - fluffy not burnt looking. Bean sprouts were still crisp like they should be and not like the first egg fu young I tried. The taste was just as bad as the first order. I have consumed a lot of egg fu young in my lifetime and I have NEVER experienced anything as disgusting as this. To top it off the egg rolls have the same bitter aftertaste as the egg fu young. The filling of the egg rolls had no flavor either. Not sure why everyone says the food here is to die for...... hopefully I'm still alive tomorrow. I'd give ZERO stars if I could. read more

(Ask for the chili sauce, don't be scared) This is corn country, the options are limited, but that shouldn't mean the options should be trash. Do yourself a favor and place an order here. The food is good but the service/ management needs help. I waited 1 1/2 hours for a delivery order which never arrived! I was told it would be 45 mins. When I called in to check the order, I was told it was "pushed back" but they could cook it now. I asked to cancel the order and was placed on hold, except I wasn't actually on hold. The employee just set the phone down and I could hear his manager yelling at him in the background about the canceled order. This was a terrible experience and they need to work on their service. I will not order from ken king again. If I need takeout, I will stick with Golden Phoenix on Main st. I ended up feeding my hungry guests leftovers, which they said was better than Ken food anyway. read more

Really impressed- some of the best Chinese food in this area. I got the Mongolian chicken and my friend got the chicken & garlic. We got takeout & the food was still nice & hot when we got to her place. Portions were generous. My dish was awfully spicy but I guess I should have known! Not sure what it was but it was NOT even close to red curry. Rice was even bad. Tasted stale or something. Portion size was reasonable and the price was great ---but not helpful when it was inedible. I literally threw it away after two bites. I tried the egg roll they include for lunch. Even that was soggy and gross. And it took over 40 minutes to get the order. Sitting there listening to the guy taking orders, not exactly professional. Needless to say, I wouldn't recommend and I won't be back. So disappointing. read more

Had a coupon from an entertainment book and was told very rudely that they no longer took that, they were new owners. After telling them the book just came out he reluctantly took the coupon and then arbitrarily changed the fried rice which came with the entree to white rice and said egg rolls, originally part of the combo were extra. Some of these with no sugar or msg. Everything is really good. If you are near by give it shot no complaints at all at this point very satisfied. It was my first time here, had the Lo Mein lunch which comes with hot and sour soup. The lo mein was loaded with flavorful noodles and tender beef, enough to feed two people. Wow! We just ordered for the first time since Ken King took over this old location. This is Chicago quality Chinese and Thai food, right here in Northwest Indiana. What was Wow? Everything. Check it out: Pot Stickers - Fantastic pot stickers! The dough was substantial and tasty. The filling was well prepared and very tasty. And, the pot sticker sauce is awesome. Let's call it Awesome Sauce! A great appetizer. Yellow Coconut Curry with Chicken - Great coconut curry taste! Lots of chicken. Excellent tasting dish. If you like yellow curry, this dish is for you! Pad See Eiw with Beef - This is a signature dish and the quality is as good as you would find in Chicago! These guys know how to prepare Thai dishes! Lots of wide noodles, with tons of beef and a great flavor! Chicken with Garlic Sauce - There are very few places who know how to make this dish and have it taste with the perfect blend of garlic, vegetables and fantastic flavor. This dish definitely makes the grade! Thai Basil Beef Fried Rice - This is also a classic dish that normally can only be found at true Thai restaurants. This fried rice is phenomenal! Not too spicy but just enough heat with lots of beef! Fantastic! This is by far the BEST Chinese/Thai place in the region! And, they have speedy delivery (about 30 minutes from the time of order to the delivery). If you are concerned because of the previous restaurant at this location, which was not good at all, let me reassure you that this place is GREAT. We will be regular customers and I hope you give it a try.
