I ordered a small beef fried rice and 2 vegetable egg rolls. I started my order off stating I have a seafood allergy. I get home and bite into my egg roll and it has a big shrimp in the inside. New owner and must be new chef, recipes. My always order Governor's chicken sauce was cherry red, which is different from all the other times I've had it. It was too sweet and no heat. Guess what?! I called yesterday and our favorite Neighborhood restaurant is back open. The J's Peapod by the airport closed earlier this year because of the passing of the owner. (The #11 Mongolian Beef is amazing) and it is always consistently good food, you get a really fair amount for $10 and the service is always friendly and smiling. This is without a doubt my favorite Chinese place in the area. My family has been eating here since I was a little kid- for as long as I can remember! It's a takeaway shop, so there's no seating inside, except a small table to wait for your order. They do offer delivery, however, and that's normally what we do. The delivery is INSANELY fast. Last time we ordered, it came to our house in SIXTEEN minutes. It was crazy. I've never had anything bad there, but my mom and I do have a standard order. We usually get the appetizer tray for two, which includes some ribs, BBQ pork, two egg rolls, two crab rangoons, two beef sticks, two wontons, and two fried shrimps. Their egg rolls are my absolute favorite. They always taste fresh, with distinguishable ingredients. I also get either a sweet and sour combo, which has shrimp, pork, and chicken, or hong sue chicken, which has a tasty brown sauce and veggies with it. I also really like their Mushroom King, which is chicken, beef, and shrimp in a light brown sauce with a bunch of different kinds of mushrooms. We also get a large fried rice in either pork or combination, which is beef, shrimp and chicken. I also love their egg drop soup in the winter time! They deliver really fast, and the food is always hot and delicious. I've never had a problem with anyone who works there, they've always been smiling and happy to see their customers. read more

I am thoroughly pleased with J's Peapod. In comparison to other Chinese takeout places in the NWI region, I find that they have a wider variety of vegetables and aromatics in their food. For example, the vegetable fried rice had a few vegetables that I do not commonly find in some of my other favorite haunts such as Canton House* or Fortune House*. I also thought the chicken kow and vegetable egg rolls were very tasty. To conclude, I'll tell you that the delivery process over the phone was easy and my "goods" arrived relatively quickly. *Both Canton House and Fortune House are fine establishments and I also enjoy ordering from there, I am just making a comparison to highlight the level of sophistication that J's Peapod crafts into their dishes. read more
