I was deceived by this company into losing a substantial amount of money on a ring return. Their…read moreactions were predatory at best, but may amount to theft. In May, I spoke to the sales team and purchased a ring knowing that it could be returned within 30 days for a full refund. In June, still within the return window, I bought a new ring and initiated a return of the first ring. For two days the support team provided conflicting instructions on how I should handle the return and ultimately instructed me to bring the ring in to their office later that week for a return. A month went by and no money had been refunded. I went to their office and they informed me that although the ring had been returned in new condition, I had returned it outside their 30 day return window and hence they would be delivering me only a partial return. I had initiated the return inside the window, but due to their changing and conflicting instructions--and no mention of a partial refund--did as I was asked and physically returned the ring later that week which landed outside their 30 day window. I am now out a substantial amount of money and the response from customer support is that they can't help me.

I walked into a wonderful store on a whim today. I have driven past it many times over the last…read moreyear and decided today was the day. I am sure happy I stopped in. What an incredible rock and gemstone place this is. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how wonderful it smelled. The incense they were burning was incredible. The store is immaculate, dusted, vacuumed and maintained. The staff, especially, Dave, were amazing. Dave helped me shop for certain rocks to fill small jars I was giving away as gifts. They have an incredible selection and the prices were very reasonable. I spent about 45 minutes in the store and enjoyed every second of it. I will be returning very soon to pick up some other items. There is simple and readily accessible parking and it's in a good area of town. I highly recommend this small business.

I only go to Desert Gems once in a while, and pretty much every time I go, I'm reminded *why* I…read moredon't go there. They have an "okay" selection of gems/crystals, but they're way overpriced. Only recently have I gotten into making my own knitting stitch markers, which require beads, wire, tools, etc. I checked here for a 1-Step Looper; nope, sold out. Back to Amazon I go. Beads seem outrageously overpriced, so it's rare I buy any beads here. Yesterday my husband and I went in to look at some of the crystals/rocks they have, and my husband asked about a particular stone of which they had a couple spheres and an egg-shape. The very hippie older man had no idea what the stone was, so he asked the only other employee working that day, but she didn't know either. She "thought" it was "Tarzanite, from Peru." One of the spheres had a sticker that said Peru, but no other information was available. Three of us searching on Google turned up nothing, except some photos of "Tarzanite" (which the search usually changed to "Tanzanite," which was clearly not this stone), but the photos didn't match the stone we were looking at. Not very helpful if you're selling a stone but don't even know what it is. Meanwhile, I was browsing around the shop and the older hippie man kept aggressively trying to sell me on various things, without even asking what I might be looking for or what type of project I was working on. I'd already told him I was just browsing, but he kept pointing out things like, "This wall is our larger-hole beads!" and stuff like that, when I have no interest in "larger hole beads" (as I said, I occasionally make myself knitting stitch markers, which have to be SMALL and lightweight, otherwise they will be too heavy and create hand strain). I don't make jewelry, so nearly everything he was pointing out -- i.e. aggressively trying to sell me -- was of no interest or use to me whatsoever. The hippie vibe was a bit too much for me, though some people may like that. Also, the shop reeked of strong incense -- both my husband and I are highly allergic to fragrances/smells, so we couldn't stay long. Why don't shops realize that some people cannot tolerate strong smells? They can even set off asthma attacks in some asthmatics (scents are banned on Montreal metro trains for that reason), and for others of us they can trigger severe migraines that last for days. At least neither of the employees were wearing masks, which was a relief. (I am autistic and have mask trauma from childhood, so those still wearing masks in 2024 I cannot deal with and have to take my business elsewhere.) In the end, we left the shop without buying anything and it will be a while before we go back, if ever. p.s. My husband took a photo of the sphere he was interested in and we went back to Mountain Mineral Market on Kipling, to ask Benjamin, who has a degree in geology, if he knew what it was. The photo wasn't quite enough to identify it, but he said it was definitely *not* "Tarzanite".

I came into Michael's to get stuff for my daughters graduation cap. I was able to find everything…read moreon my own very easily, although associates did ask me if I needed help which was nice. When I was checking out, I was chatting with Peggy and she was so helpful. She helped me apply a coupon and find something that I was looking for but we also had great conversation. Self-service check out in this zoom world that we live in stops us from having genuine human connections which I feel are important. I worked 12 hours and then I spent a lot of money on stickers, but it was really nice to stop and have a human moment with Peggy. All of the stress that I had today is gone because we just had a lovely chat. I really hope this goes into consideration when it's time to look at compensation and raises because Peggy deserves the world. Yet within 3 days it turned his finger green and the polish was completely coming off. He didn't wear it in water or the shower or anything like that. We went back in and was met with the store director which was extremely rude and did not want to process the refund even though it was within the parameters of the warranty and return period. Extremely frustrated I reached out to customer service and they said they could only provide a replacement. I said sure. Then they said the replacement was lost in shipping. I contacted again and they said they would send another one. At this point it was too late and they couldn't even do a refund. Extremely disappointed in this place for spending about 200$ on a ring I would think would be good quality. If you're looking at jewelry don't buy it from here it will fall about in days. Better off going to an actual jewelry store.

The staff proceeded to tell me they don't have that and I showed them the picture and they said that the website sometimes doesn't always update which is understandable. But when I asked if they could just double check in the back to see if they had it, they said we don't have it. So probably won't be coming back for a while, which is a bummer because I love this place.

This review is specific to a return issue I had. I lost the original card that I purchased my item…read morewith and when I came to return the item, they wouldn't accept any other card to process the return. In the end I had to accept store credit, which wasn't ideally what I wanted to do. I have to note that the person at the register was great and really tried to help me, but it seems that management wouldn't allow any exceptions. They really need to have a more flexible system for such scenarios, it's hard to imagine that a credit card machine wouldn't have the function to return-process another card. Anyway, I will use up the store credit and then I won't be back
