I stopped by on a Wed at 5:10 (shortly before indicated closing at 5:30) and was held up at lobby security because they did not have the business listing. When I phoned to get the info to pass along to the guard, learned from guy answering that biz IS on the 2nd floor (but may get confused with a computer repair co on same floor) but was closed until the following Tuesday. It wasn't explained if that was due to vacation or if their hours are typically limited. Since others might need to take off work early to get there during their biz hours, as I did, better to call first so as not to lose the time/cost of a visit. Can't speak to their repairs, which may be first-rate. read more

So, I posted my one star review a long time ago because the hours this place keeps are offensive to me. The owner recently replied (in a courteous way) asking why the business hours justified a one-star review. The answer is because they tell me how you view your customers. Your hours require pretty much anybody with a full time job to take time off from their work to shop at your store. You're telling us that your convenience matters more than our convenience. I received a damaged watch from this company after paying several hundred dollars. I needed this as a gift and noted that. My watch arrived damaged as well as the box (it literally fell apart). I then reached out to the customer support through email -since the phone and chat options were not working. They requested that I upload photos of the damages to their program - which I did. And then nothing. It has been ONE WEEK with a damaged watch and no resolution. Be warned people. The support team clearly does not care to assist you, I have not received any response from them in 5 days and received it 7 days ago. read more

I stopped wearing my watch because my cell phone did a great job for everything but it didn't give me the single piece of jewelry that I used to wear that I loved and that was my watch. One thought they had closed but the other new they are only moved. They are a word-of-mouth operation which is the highest recommendation you ever get from anyone about anything. Beware of this place. They now operate out of some sketchy office, rather than at the large retail store. I took my watch in for them to look at and consider, and the guy told me to have a seat in the couch area, while he walked away with my watch to go "check it out and take some photos of it". It was sketchy as f*ck, as he had been gone for a while, making all sorts of weird maneuvers and noises, in addition to taking photos. (He was in a desk area, away from where he seated me on the couch.) When he gave me a quote for my watch, I took it back and left and something's definitely amiss with it now -- namely, I think they took my bracelet and replaced it with a much older, stained one. Never let anyone take your watch out of your view; that's just uncalled for. Avoid this place like the plague and go to a dealer where you can feel safe. read more

I sought the services of KENJO, a true specialty watch shop, to replace a custom band and clasp for a rare-to-find, much loved watch that hasn't been worn in a year since the band broke. I live out of state and could not find any local jewelers who could help me. In addItion, I could not find any of the pieces online. Steven was great in locating the replacement pieces and expediting shipment, at a reasonable price. When the new band broke two weeks later, and on a weekend, Steven quickly responded and had a new band shipped to me. I rarely write such reviews, and in the past may have been more inclined to voice displeasure. However, Steven and the KENJO team deserve credit for execellent service, and have a new client for life from me. read more

Why everyone goes to Tourneau is beyond me. Kenjo has an excellent selection of watches in a more subdued, less pretentious location. The people who work there are extremely friendly and definitely know their stuff. I recently went there to get my watch battery replaced upon the recommendation of a relative and he was dead on right about the place. It took about an hour, was pressure tested and set to the correct settings on everything. Came to $16 as well which was a pleasant surprise. read more

I'm going to review Kenjo even though I haven't bought a watch there yet (but undoubtably will). I was treated professionally and courteously by people who thoroughly understood their product line up and took the time to really learn what I was looking for in a watch. At no time did they try to push a particular style or brand and respected my price guidelines. And yes, I was in jeans and a fleece! I was told 6 months by another high end repair shop - they took 2 weeks and the watch works perfectly and looks better than I can remember. Recently purchased a Tissot Visodate Automatic with Milanais bracelet from Kenjo. Great service great price. I had been looking for this model specifically. The week prior to purchase, I called their office and spoke to Steve, who told me he had that particular model with the leather strap only. I made an appointment to see it the following week. When I arrived, it turned out to be the same model with a different colored face than I had asked about. Initially, I was a bit disappointed about the miscommunication, since the one I wanted also appeared on their website. I asked if they could find the one I wanted within the week, otherwise I'd buy from Jomashop or another retailer who had it in stock. I much preferred to buy from Kenjo because Steve said Kenjo includes the official Tissot warranty with purchase; other retailers do not. The price was otherwise competitive with online retailers. Like clockwork, Steve had the watch for me the next day. I couldn't really ask for better service than that. read more

My crown and my stem from my Maurice Lacroix came off, I called them about it and told me to bring it in and once I got there they looked at my timepiece and the warranty card and they told me not to worry that they would call the main office of my timepiece so they can do the repair in the store by their technician and in a week later I got my timepiece back they were very nice and even the sales lady had showed me some pieces that I was interested in and I started to think about getting another from them but haven't had the time but they are very nice people to deal with. I had waited an inordinately long time to get a new band for a nice watch my wife gave me a few years ago, and finally made it to Kenjo (which had been recommended to me). It was well worth the wait. Steve is terrific and got the right replacement quickly. I then also took forever to get myself to the shop to pick it up, and Steve was such a gentleman that he walked it over to my office, free of charge. Great service and great people - can't beat that. Bought my Breitling at Kenjo back in 2005. The prices were decent and the service good. I've come back for service and was pleased. Sorry to hear they lost their space and are in temporary facilities. Hoping they're back at street level soon and showing real product. I would not even consider going to Tourneau which always gave me the impression that I was being taken advantage of , even if it wasn't the case. Definitely agree with the previous reviewer - don't waste your time and money going to Tourneau, their attitude is snobby and they offer pathetic discounts off the official list price. I was buying an Omega watch as a birthday present for someone, and went to Wempe, but they didn't have it in stock and wouldn't get in for 4-6 weeks, so they suggested I go to Kenjo. They not only had it in stock but gave me a great discount (about 24%) off retail. The watch was engraved and ready the next day! The only point of criticism is that unlike Wempe, which offers a three-year shop warranty over and above the official manufacturer's warranty plus lifetime free battery replacement, Kenjo just offers the regular manufacturer's warranty (they are authorized Omega dealers so the warranty is filled out and signed). One word of advice: when buying an expensive watch, please always buy from authorized dealers only! That way, you get the official manufacturer's warranty stamped and signed. They are many dealers on the Internet offering great prices on watches, but none of them offer official warranties (just their own) and frankly, that makes me nervous. Contrary to what I thought, even authorized dealers offer substantial discounts (both Wempe and Kenjo offered me the same great price, but Kenjo had it in stock so I went with them). I'm sure I could have got it even cheaper on the Net, but I think the peace of mind was worth it! read more

In reading reviews on other sites, I guess it depends on which sales person you work with. I recently (Saturday 9/11/2010) had a good experience at Kenjo's Midtown location working with Dario. By no means was I shopping for the most expensive watch in the store - For context I purchased a Hamilton Jazzmaster Automatic / Chrono / 27 jewel count / skeleton back. Dario was professional, knowledgeable and was not hard selling anything - We came to terms on a fair deal. Overall I was happy with the experience and would buy there again. I have not worked with anyone else at either Kenjo location, but I recommend asking for Dario if you go into the 57th street store. read more

I was seriously interested in purchasing a very expensive watch, and was price shopping between Kenjo and another NYC jeweler. My first experience with Kenjo was when I brought my Raymond Weil watch for a battery change. I was helped by Dario Cochrane and while he was writing up the invoice, I took a look at some of the watches, particularly their Omega display. He looked up and called over to me, "Do you want to take a look at those?" I said, "Oh sure, if it's not a problem." He responded, "Of course, just give me a second." He showed some of them, explained some rudimentary knowledge of the brand and movement. I told him I've been looking to buy my first luxury watch and that my upper limit would be $10,000. He said he'd work with me to get the best watch that I can be happy with. After doing some research and exploring some other brands and stores, I came back with a list of watches they carried that I wanted to look at. Without hesitation he took me around the store to the different display cases the watches were in and pulled them out for me to look at. He's not an expert by most measures, but he knows enough to give you some helpful information at the very least. I came back several times to ask questions and look at other watches, each time armed with more information that he handled well; he didn't overextend himself and try to talk circles around me and admitted when he wasn't sure about something. Long story short, I narrowed it down to a Zenith El Primero VPH w/ Black Dial and the Omega Planet Ocean 45.5mm Chronograph w/ Orange Bezel. After trying both on, he said he liked the Planet Ocean and thinks that fits me more than the Zenith. Considering he recommended that I buy the cheaper watch, I took him to be authentic in his words. He then showed and promptly talked me out of a pre-owned Rolex GMT Master II. The discount wasn't as much as I wanted it to be, but considering it was Kenjo or the Omega boutique, I knew I didn't have much leverage. Overall, my first watch-buying experience was a very positive one. Dario Cochrane was a very patient salesperson who never pushed any particular watches on me and respected my price range when I asked him to show me another watch I might consider. The only downside is that the store's presentation isn't on the level of Wempe or Tourneau. read more

Was there last March. Beautiful shop, big selection, nice people - a little patronizing but hey, they're salesmen. In from out of town, needed a battery ASAP for my cheap-ish watch. Cost $25. Watch is dead already, 5 months later. These guys might be good if you're buying a high-end watch, not so much for batteries. Kenjo is the place to buy a watch. Polite honest sales people. Great customer service. I have bought a few watches here. I've bought brands of Daniel Roth ,, IWC and Bell and Ross watches here. They always give a great deal and don't try to sell you something you don't really want. If something ever goes wrong with the watch you buy, they get it repaired quickly. I have read of many people getting ripped off on the internet buying watches that aren't what they are supposed to be. Kenjo is a place that can be trusted and you will get a great deal. I don't usually write reviews about watch store but I felt compelled to write one about this place because my experiences with Steve at Kenjo was just wonderful, and put simply, I wouldn't go to any other watch dealers for my watch repair/purchase from now on. I wanted to purchase this classic IWC watch that I liked and did my homework before stopping by Kenjo on a Saturday afternoon. Steve was friendly, professional, and very knowledgable as I told him about the watch I want to buy and even the price that I was given by another dealer near my workplace. He made a fair and honest offer on price, which was slightly higher than I expected, but sometimes money isn't the only thing that matters when you receive a positive first impression of the store and level of service in buying experience(Forget about those shady watch/jewelry dealers on jewelry district where they want to watch you through their security camera as if they treat you as a pawnshop robber!) Steve told me that he didn't have the watch in stock at the moment but would contact his vendor to have it shipped out to my house in NJ, which was fine by me. Soon after the purchase, he informed me via email saying that his vendor didn't have it in stock so he would place a new order in with IWC, which would take about 3 weeks to come in. Well, good things come to those who wait and I didn't mind as I knew I would be getting an authentic and brand new timepiece from IWC. And guess what...less than two weeks, the order came in as promised and he was kind enough to ship it to my house overnight. When the watch arrived, it was carefully packed in boxes and I could tell that they value your purchase with cautions and thoughts. I couldn't be any happier and throughout the entire process, Steve always listened to my needs and wants genuinely to ensure a full customer satisfaction. They have a great selection (within and across brands), their staff is knowledgeable, and they work with you to make sure that you get the watch you want. The staff and management understand that a nice watch is no small purchase and are focused on ensuring that customers leave their store satisfied with their purchase and experience. As an aside, here's my 2 cents for those buying their first luxury watch. Get the watch you want and don't settle. More than two years ago, I fell in love with the Maurice Lacroix - Masterpiece Le Chronographe Limited Edition MP7128 that I saw in an advertisement. I promised myself that I would get the watch for myself as an MBA graduation gift. Kenjo didn't have it in stock, but did have a similar non-chronograph in stock for half the price. The salesperson was honest and explained to me the differences. He admitted that he wasn't sure if he would pay so much more for the Limited Edition chronograph. Nevertheless, he offered to have Maurice Lacroix send it to them so that I could compare the two side-by-side. At first Maurice Lacroix wouldn't send it to the store - did they expect me to plunk down a huge sum of money to buy the watch sight unseen? Kenjo pulled a few strings and had it sent to the store with no obligation. As soon as I saw the watch in person, I bought it. More than 15 years ago I purchased an automatic Tutima Watch from Kenjo. This watch sells in the $2,000 range. I hadn't been wearing it the past few years, and then a bit more than a year ago I put it on again and found that the automatic feature wasn't working properly. After a few days of wearing it except to shower, it would stop. I took it in to Kenjo three or four times, and each time they returned it saying it was fixed, but it wasn't. It was still stopping. Eventually, they refunded me the $350.00 I had given them to repair it and advised me to contact Tutima directly. This I did, dealing there with the technician, Neko Paccione. I sent them the watch multiple times, and each time they returned it to me, saying it was "fixed." But it wasn't. Finally, Mr. Paccione sent me a note implying I was not telling the truth and saying that he has worn it and it was working properly. Of course, it wasn't. But I resolved to wear the watch and simply wind it daily, accepting it as a non-automatic watch. After three days of that, it stopped again. I wrote to Mr. Paccione asking for a refund. He had me send the watch back again, and finally it is fixed. Almost. It gains a bit more than five minutes in two weeks, and Mr. Paccione has asked me to send it back again, which I have done. But I wore it continuously for two weeks and it didn't stop! Hurrah. It has been a long journey to this point... read more

I have visited Kenjo three times in the past 5 years and their used car salesman tactics have not changed. They will quote you list price on a watch and swear that that is the best they can do because that is "the price", they then wait and see if you bite. When you say that you can get 30% off list price somewhere else they will suddenly be able to take 10% off the list price and act as if they are doing you a big favor. Needless to say, they have never sold me a watch. Two weeks ago I visited them because I was interested in a particular watch which had a $1500 list price, while chatting with the salesperson I was informed that the display watch would be the one I would be purchasing because they "keep most of their inventory on display". I was also informed that this particular watch does not come with a box, or they did not have the box. I have subsequently purchased this model watch elsewhere, (at 30% off list), and it came in a lovely box with a pullout drawer and an owner's manual similar to one that you would get with a new car. read more

Fantastic place to buy a watch. Very good selection and very courteous staff. I didnt know what i wanted to get my wife and went in there asking a lot of questions. They didnt show me the most expensive watches right away, they showed me all types in all price ranges. I went to Wempe as well, and the girl acted like she didnt want to help me and kept showing me watches way out of my price range as if she was going to sell me on it. I cannot praise the staff at Kenjo enough for their time and patience. I was in recently and spent about 1.5 hours looking at watches with Tigran. He was helpful, knowledgable, and not at all pushy, and gave me a great deal on a high-end Breitling. Unfortunately, Breitling will not ship Kenjo any more watches because they have opened an overpriced boutique across the street. Independent watch shops like this need to stay in business, and shopping anywhere else, in my opinion, would be a big mistake. Kudos to Kenjo!!
