I have not been to this place in probably 5 years. I always worked on my car its never been to another mechanic. They did several jobs for me on a car when I was sick. I had several issues with the repairs. In one repair they fixed a bumper support to get the bumper support off rather then dropping the exhaust they bent and pried and broke the hanger on the exhaust. I ended up fixing this myself about a month later as the muffler had a lifetime warranty. Recently I pulled the front suspension apart they used a regular nut! on the tie rod ends rather then a castle nut no way this could have been torqued properly. They also used a replacement screw to hold on a brake dust shield that in itself is fine but the screw they used had a square thread rather then phillips like the rest no way this was ever going to come off again with a square head. Never have seen someone use something like this before they are construction screws. I will say this Wayne seems pretty honest I was there once and he was on the phone telling someone he didnt want to work on a their car anymore because he felt the car was rotted out and didnt want to bill them for a car that was going to die very soon. read more

Great people and great service. Had a strange noise and I called to see if there was someone who could do a test drive. Wayne said to bring it right over, which I did. Wayne practically met me at the door with a mechanic who took a test drive with me and diagnosed a loose heat shield. Up on the rack. Removed the faulty heat shield and out the door 10 minutes later. They were very nice. BUT, fluids were supposed to be topped off, discovered the next day on a snowy, icey drive on I95, that was not true. Put me in a very dangerous situation! No washer fluid! Made for a very scary drive til I was able to get off the highway and buy some. read more

Kennebunk Auto Center has been servicing our family's cars for the last few years. As most of you know, a trust-worthy mechanic is a must in life (unless you're a self-fixer). Kennebunk Auto meets and exceeds this need. Wayne, the owner, is on-site every day and runs the front office. He is knowledgeable and each time that he has "estimated" work to be done, he's been extremely accurate with no unpleasant surprises. Nicely enough, most of his staff of Mechanics seem to have been employed there for awhile, so there's experience and honesty in the back room too. Lastly, even routine maintenance items like oil change and tire rotation are pleasing... I haven't yet experienced that typical garage/tire place feeling where you are on-time for your appointment and you sit and stare at your vehicle for a half-hour before it is moved into the garage to be worked on. I've been in and out of Kennebunk Auto in a very reasonable amount of time. I highly recommmend this business. read more

Wayne, Mike, Kevin (and their mechanics) are the most trustworthy"Auto" guys I have ever come across. They have been our mechanics for about a dozen years and I recall a time several years ago when I was preparing for a 1,500 road trip. I took the car in and told Mike and Wayne to inspect for anything that they could find wrong with it. While out running errands my car started having some issues. I called a few places (shopping around) and after reading Fred M's review on here I decided to call Kennebunk Auto Center. Wayne answered, told me they had four guys working today and should be able to at least look at my car. I dropped it off and walked home (couple of miles on a nice sunny day). Wayne called me back an hour later, told me what was needed and how much it would cost, said it should be done by the end of the day. I know some mechanically inclined people and when I told them what work was done and how much I paid they all said "Wow, that's a great price." Drove in a half hour before closing with my 87-year-old mother, a bent rim, and a deflated tire. Was cheerfully accommodated and drove out a mere 15 minutes later and only $10 poorer with a patched tire and assurances we didn't need a new rim. Gotta love it!! read more

I was driving down I-95 when my car basically just stopped. AAA towed me to VIP Auto parts. VIP basically were idiots and while they did ID that the issue was a timing belt that snapped, he could only tell us that we would have to go to the dealer (it was a KIA Rio) to get it fixed. That sounded like crap (and it turned out it was) so I called Kennebunk Auto Center. The fellow that answered the phone was AMAZING. He told me straight up that the timing belt would be $300-$400, but in his 20 years he's never seen anything but an older Honda escape the damage that the belt causes and it'd probably end up being $800-$1200. He told me everything I needed to know to decide if it was worth it (the car only cost me $900 in the first place), and I even called him back later for more questions- which he was happy to answer. I was recommended this Auto Center by a friend whose family has gone there for many years. Wayne who runs the shop is knowledgeable and friendly. I have brought my car for repairs (it's a 21 y.o. Jeep Wrangler) and inspections. This place is a gem. They are reasonable and know what they are doing. I have had to have my Jeep towed because of a dragging brake shoe and when I described what was going on when I was driving it. Wayne asked me a few questions and said. "I'm guessing you've got a brake dragging" The Tow-Truck Driver (AAA) on the other hand, said he thought it was my AC. And maybe I should drive it around and see if (the horrific smell) was still happening with the AC off. I declined and said "Tow it to Kennebunk Auto Center". And yes, as usual, Wayne was spot on. I never fear going in this shop. I know they will say what I need and not pad extras into it. They just aren't like that. I have had the car inspected and said, if it needs new hoses or what have you just let me know and usually they say. "Nope, everything looks good". I have sent other people there without hesitation. This place is ridiculous. I took my car there, and yes it was not in the greatest shape, but what they did was unbelievable. I dropped it off and it sat in the parking lot unmoved for four days. No exaggeration, they didn't even look at it! Once they finally did, they told me to junk it because "it wasn't worth THEIR time." Ya know, the time I'm paying for. I'm paying for labor and parts how is it not WORTH your time? I realized junking wasn't unreasonable but their reason was. So I called a few other local auto shops, told them about my experience and the four other places I called were all willing to help me. Don't waste your time. read more
