We had a great experience. Had a slow leak in my mini van tire and had been using our portable pump for a few days to keep it inflated because with 5 kids and a husband who was out of town for the week... life. Called to see if I needed an appointment to bring it in for repair and the gentleman let me know that it was first served sort of situation and that day they happened to be a little understaffed and that he was sorry but, if I needed it done that day it might take up to two hours. I told him no problem and we headed to the shop after our other errands. We checked in, gave our keys and let them know we'd be waiting but the kids and I were going to walk down to Dollar Tree and shop a little to kill some time. By the time we got back (35 min or so) they were all ready pulling our van in and in no time flat they had my van all repaired. The service counter gal was super sweet. My youngest along for the day happens to have Down Syndrome and sometimes is challenging to understand. She asked me for water and the gal behind the counter over heard and quickly offered an ice cold bottle of water. After this it buoyed my daughters confidence to ask her to use the ladies room which the gal gladly showed her to.... she was so sweet. Be weary. Dealing with Bert has been a nightmare. I hate haggling, and never should it take more than two calls. I have a myriad of texts and calls. I take the car somewhere else for the tire replacement, I pay them to mount the spare tire on and they left the center cap off of my original tire. Their employee does not do his job and I am inconvenienced. I expect more out of a local company, customer service has been piss poor. To be continued... voice mail from the owner yesterday wanting to follow up that is good, but also said that my words were strong, and then the reply. Mr. kennedy, take ownership, learn from it, suck it up and love on. Strong words would have been if I said your business sucked ass, I did not say that. It was very factual. You did not meet the price, I went in there with the estimate and coupon that started today taking another 100 off. if Bert had just said, there is no way we can compete with that price because they are a big box corporate monster, I would have been fine with that. Burt and crew are always so great to work with. A few months ago, my dealership wanted to charge me an obscene amount for a radiator flush on a car i bought from them only a few months before. They claimed someone had put water in my antifreeze. Burt walked me through the fact that it wasn't a service recommended for my car for another 65k miles and that it sounded fishy. The dealership relented and fixed the problem for free. Today I ran over something in the rain and my tire lost pressure rapidly. The team got me in immediately and fixed the tire versus trying to foist a whole new set on me like other tire shops always do. DONT GO HERE!!! I went to Kennedy's to get my a/c diagnosed because it had slowly stopped working, when I looked under the hood I saw a Freon leak in the lower hose. First of all I felt like Tad Kennedy was a tad demeaning, (ha) but I went ahead and had them diagnose the system. He told me it would cost $50, I said fine. When he called me back he said that I needed essentially a whole new a/c system. It would cost $1750.00. I decided to seek a different opinion. I went in to pay for the diagnoses and it was $70 dollars. Another fact he didn't reveal to me. I took it to a different mechanic about 2 blocks away and he was able to fix my a/c and test for compression by repairing the one hose that I saw leaking to began with. My total was $467.00. He also told me that there is no way anyone could have really tested the system with that hose in the condition it was in. I confronted Kennedy about it and he wouldn't even refund the original BS diagnoses. Kept saying 'we would never lie to you' like a broken record, when the receipts in front of me proved otherwise. Or at least proved that I wasn't given anywhere near the whole truth. He offered to refund my $20 as a 'settlement' but I thought that was insulting due to how worthless the diagnoses had been. He also insisted that the diagnosis was good and that 'there are other ways to test compression then pressure'. I'm no a/c expert but even if that is true let me make my own decision on what all I need to replace rather then telling me my whole system is bad. Right now I have a ac that is working fantastic and I only had 1 hose replaced. I think Kennedy's is dishonest, demeaning and unprofessional. Let's put this company out of business. I went in for what I thought was a fuel leak in an AMERICAN car. I paid for the estimate which is not a problem. He said need spark plugs, wire, and ignition coil, a basic tune up. Estimate $1000.00. Wow!! He was so kind he even offered me to apply for financing. BUYER BEWARE... Update: I specifically said the bare minimum work and I went in for what I thought was a gas leak because I was smelling fuel. The quote was actually $997.00. I failed to mention throttle body service, which is a simple task of spraying and wiping it. And no, it is completely false how maintenance would an additional $226.00, see estimate in photo. 4 things were recommended; there was no mention of a maintenance recommendation. So $700.00 for everything else. I went to Jiffy Lube down the street and they said replacing spark plugs and wires plus labor would be $249.00. The ignition coil would be extra. I don't need a warranty that long especially if you stand behind your work and products, originally. I ended up buying spark plugs, spark plug wires, (1) ignition coil (not sure what "all ignition coils" are), brand new wrench set, and brand new spark plug socket all for under $125.00. There was no need to jack up van to go under it. There was no need to take many parts to do the replacement. It was a fairly easy procedure. Cleaning the throttle entailed buy a can of spray for another few bucks. In a nutshell, $700.00 for a spark plugs, wires, ignition coil, and throttle body maintenance, is a bit over priced. You might as well give a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty to out do everyone else. I love "warranties" and THE FINE PRINT. THANKS BUT NO THANKS. TAKE YOUR CAR TO ANOTHER BUSINESS. CONSUMERS... They were busy so I told him I would come back later in the day to get it fixed. He proceeded to tell me I'm 8th in the cue and I would have to wait for AIR. Went in with a flooded engine. Expected some spark plugs and an air filter change. Maybe $150-$250 after parts and service, right? Not even close. Try $600+. After I agreed to the outrageous charge (Since it would cost that to have it towed yet again), they contacted me later and stated that since I tried to start my engine while it was flooded, the pressure may have caused bending/warping of heads, pistons and whatnot. So rebuilding an engine might run you $2000-$6000 these days, I was told. "Luckily" they stated over the phone, "Your insurance will cover it!". I'm sure they will I thought sarcastically to myself...really feeling as though I was being shown the way to the cleaners. I contacted my insurance and they said they'd send out their adjuster. They contacted me the next day and said that they would pay to get it out of there. My insurance rep told me that the adjuster reported some interesting things. Number one, they were suspiciously uncooperative and reluctant to show him the vehicle. Number two, after inspecting he couldn't tell that the spark plugs were changed at all and the air filter was soaking wet. Overall he reported that we were being charged for the thing sitting in their garage for a couple days. Insurance wrote them a check for a bit less than they were asking and got it out of there. Towed it back home and after my mechanic took a look at it, he dried out the air filter and dropped it back in. Turned the key and magically the sucker works like a charm. He charged me nothing. I'm currently driving it and have zero problems after getting a new air filter. Not sure if it was Kennedy's malicious intent or if they were just idiotic. Regardless, I saved a ton of money and only paid my deductible from my insurance. Again, avoid them if you can. They'll not only take you to the cleaners, they'll charge you for the trip there and back. read more

Took my car for oil change with a coupon for $19.95. They insisted to put synthetic oil & charge me more. It's a 2002 AUDI A-4 & I got it new, in 15 years I never put synthetic oil in it. Nor does the Owners manual says so. Well they took 1.3 hours to change oil and charged me $10 more for Labor, a total of $32.68 on a coupon of $19.95. I sent my assistant in because I have a 2000 Xterra that needed the lower radiator hose, valve cover gasket, and passenger side exhaust manifold replaced. I verified the part numbers I needed, ordered the parts from online dealers to get the best prices, and went to this place to get on a quote on the repair work. I chose KTAS because some of the individuals I work with recommend them for their quality of work and work ethic. Now, keep in mind, this would be about five hours worth of labor. Labor is almost pure profit to a business, as opposed to a part which they obtain from a supplier, mark up, and resell to a customer. Most of the money made by an organization is made by labor. The individual my assistant spoke with refused service, and stated that "it is not our policy to use customer parts." This policy is absolutely unacceptable. I can understand this policy because a customer could bring in the incorrect parts, however, my assistant did have a list of part numbers which could have been verified by the technician. THe technician also stated that this policy is put into place so that the company can make money on parts, and I suppose this is why this person is a technician and not a businessman like myself, not realizing the profit made by the labor I needed. A flat refusal to a policy cost this company the profit from my labor money - and all of the possible referrals I could have generated. My assistant did not attempt to speak with a supervisor, as the technician did not act as if there were any alternatives. My vehicle will be serviced at another location who is happy to make labor money from my needs, and never again will I seek to do business with KTAS, which is unfortunate for them since my company has a fleet of five vehicles. read more

I went to Kennedy auto because I had a soft pedal brake issue. I had work done at two other places, Ammaco and Bob Howard. I felt they had misdiagnosed the problem and were just throwing parts at it because they didn't know either. A soft pedal is usually a bad Master cylinder. I told Chris that the Master Cylinder was new. I heard Kennedy was a good place so I wanted to see if they could fix the problem. I got a call from Chris later saying it was the New Master Cylinder that was bad. I asked how that could be and he threw out some reasons. I said OK and they replaced it. I picked it up on Friday late and drove it home noticing the issue was still there, Low and behold that didn't fix the issue. I went in Saturday morning and talked to Chris but couldn't leave the truck there at the time. I asked him if he would get with Management and ask what could be done. Do to his and my schedule I couldn't get back in to see him about it. I went in today (Wednesday) to see if they would help in any way on the cost to fix the real issue. Chris didn't seem to be the person with the attitude but the Manager he asked told me it wasn't their problem that it was mine because I had other shops work on my truck (He said 7 other shops sarcastically) That is why I took it to Kennedy's in the first place was to find a shop with mechanic's that were not just part changers until the problem was fixed. I told him if they couldn't or wouldn't help I would walk. He didn't seem to want to help on the issue so I walked. $700 later and no help with the same issue. Did I want something for nothing, NO. I just wanted some help for their misdiagnosis after I told them it was a New Master Cylinder. I would have paid more if they would have been interested and fair about it. I wish I had got on Yelp before I went to them. Funny how all the negative ratings talk about some of the same issues. Lesson learned for me. I did get a call from Chris later Wednesday trying to make things right and to offer far from what I felt was acceptable. A free $50 value to diagnose the problem again. Far from what I felt was remotely fair since the mechanic's wasn't even told that the Master cylinder had already been replaced. Wouldn't it make sense to go to something other than the Master Cylinder or bleeding air out of the lines if that had already been done? At least Chris tried as I think he was the only one there that thinks about customer service. Again LESSON learned for me to at least check out some reviews for shops as it costs so much nowadays to fix anything on a vehicle. Response to Mr. Kennedy's response if he really wrote it. Sounded like the Sarcastic Manger that had the attitude. Don't think the owner would talk like that. Anyway I didn't ask for 1000's of dollars of free work unless you were going to try and milk me and replace the whole brake system? Talking to Chris I said the cost of the Master Cylinder and work ($300 credit) would be what I thought would be fair since the tech was not told the Master Cylinder was new in the first place. I did talk to Chris (Not 4 calls) and again it was not a master cylinder issue so why would I except something for free that wasn't even broke in the first place. If your Tech was told it had a new master cylinder they would have diagnosed something else if they are as good as you say. There is a reason your company is down at 49 and I wished I would have looked at the reviews before I went there. Again lesson learned. We have used Kennedys for years, but NO more! I wasn't surprised upon coming to Yelp reviews to see that only have 2.5 out of 5. Surprised they are that high after our last 2 experiences. I've never left a Yelp review until now. The first upsetting visit happened with our van. It had been with Kennedys over the weekend and I was told it would be ready for pick up on Monday after 5. I arrived at 5:30 with friends who had picked me up from work to find out my van wasn't ready. I hadn't received any calls from them to say it wouldn't be ready. I had dropped it off early Friday morning and had to keep calling in to Saturday afternoon to find out what was wrong. My last contact with them said it would be ready on Monday. I now had to make arrangements for transportation to and from Edmond and the OU Health Sciences Center. After finally picking up my van on Tuesday, I spoke with the manager about their lack of communicating with us. (This was the second time my van was in for "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) The final straw with our household happened last week. We have a small Ford that we were tired of taking to the dealership for simple changes and having to pay $50+ . So, my 20 year old son calls me on the way home saying it was $63 for the oil change. I was furious and called them asking for the manager. He gave me a story about my son having asked for the highest quality synthetic oil. He was asked what was put in the car with the last change and they were told he didn't know. The manager didn't know I had already spoken with my son. I told the manager that was incorrect. Also told him we left the dealership because of the high prices. He said Kennedys was cheaper with our AAA discount and the yellow coupon given in every visit. I let him know we had never been given a yellow coupon on any of our visits. He said my son hadn't mentioned our AAA discount on his visit. I didn't know why he hasn't given the discount because he had so meticulously entered it in the system two visits ago. On top of all that, they tried to sell him a $200 oil change plan. We feel this place is dishonest, doesn't communicate with its customers, and I seriously doubt their integrity. read more

I wish I had checked Yelp out first. Took my truck because it was running rough. Was told it needed a tune up..$600. One week later it was doing the same thing but worse. Took it back, was told it needed a fuel pump and was told it needed $4000 worth of work. It's a 2005 truck! Had my truck taken somewhere else. Turns out it didn't need a fuel pump and the one that Kennedy put on was the cheapest available but charged me for the most expensive. Other mechanic found that Kennedy didn't tighten down my spark plugs correctly so was getting blowback (could have started a fire) and an oxygen sensor was all it needed. I feel that they took advantage of us because I travel for a living and don't have time to deal with mechanics and a car being down. Stay away!!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I took my vehicle to Kennedy's because my check engine light came on. I like supporting local businesses and have taken my other vehicle there a month ago that needed repair for 2,000 worth of labor and parts. This time, I needed my van diagnosed since the engine light came on and the car was rumbling. When I first called I was given Chris who wasn't very customer friendly and seemed like he was ready for the next customer. I decided to just brush it off and bring my car anyways thinking he was just having a bad day or something. I drop my car off there that afternoon and asked Chris to also check the thermostat since it had also been having trouble regulating. After a few hours I get a call back saying it's a cylinder 3 misfire and the tubes and 3rd cylinder needs to be changed. So I agreed and told Chris that would be fine and to do what we needed to get it fixed. The next day it was ready for pick up at 11ish am. I head over to Kennedy's around 2 and pay over 800.00 for the labor and parts. I drive away....within 10 minutes I'm sitting in the carpool line and the car is still rumbling and the check engine light comes on. Just. Like. Before. I call Kennedy's and speak with Chris....He tells me to bring it in when I can. I asked him if he checked the thermostat issue, that was missed too along with my tire still being low. Before I head back over to Kennedy's I call them and ask to speak to Mark (he is one of the managers who helped with my other vehicle that still isn't fixed correctly). I told him about my experience with Chris and how the car issues weren't fixed. He tells me "Chris is 4 days new and that he will talk to him about these issues I'm dealing with and that it's good to know so we can address them." That was a lie, because I had seen Chris there a month ago. So I bring the car back over.... to Kennedy's. Mind you Monday is when I took it in, picked it up on Tuesday only to bring it back on Tuesday afternoon since the repairs were ineffective. By Wednesday they were able to get us a diagnosis. Mark told me that "the parts for the tubes and 3rd cylinder and spark plugs were bad and you can't know whether they are good or bad sometimes." I said okay....so what are we doing? He said to try to let them change it out so I scheduled for Friday at 7:30 and asked them to do an oil change as well. After a few hours of the car being in the shop Mark called me and said that after checking the diagnostic manual he saw to replace those parts before the piston head, but with our engine under powertrain, this work could have been done and covered under our warranty by the manufacturer. So we paid them only to send us off to a dealership. The man who was servicing our vehicle now at Bob Howard (the next week) told us Kennedy's should not have charged you if they didn't fix the issue and then sent us over to them. So all of that chasing a rabbit hole to find out we needed a new cylinder head. I feel like there could have been a better way to deal with this problem. I thought I could trust Kennedy's to tell me I should just go to a Chrysler dealership since my vehicle is under warranty instead of making money off of us first. So I was charged for 800.00 for a misdiagnoses. When I called Kennedy's to speak with Mark after getting the real diagnoses from Bob Howard... I asked to get a refund. Marks response was rude and was not apologetic whatsoever. He told me the diagnostic manual said this is what was to do. I'm disappointed in the way this was handled and will not be going back to Kennedy's again. Ps. They forgot to change my oil on Friday when I came to pick it up. Ridiculous! I also smoke with Tad, the owner and that was a very unpleasant. One thing that really stuck out was when I told him how wonderful my experience was at Bob Howard he started bashing them and expected me to believe him. They are not trustworthy nor honorable. I started going here for routine maintenance because they are AAA approved. I have no problem with their work, but it seems they always try to up-sell me on things that I suspect are not necessary. Took my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe in for an oil change at 52,490 miles. They told me the transmission fluid should be replaced at 50,000 miles because of Oklahoma's severe driving conditions and that I really needed to do that as soon as possible. I declined because I knew better. My vehicle's Hyundai factory maintenance schedule for severe driving conditions says this should be done at 60,000 miles. Either they purposely misled me or they are not well informed regarding my vehicle's maintenance requirements. They also told me I needed to replace the engine air filter because it was dirty. I had just done this 7,500 miles earlier. Was this another questionable recommendation? This along with my experience on previous visits makes me feel I can't trust what I am being told at this establishment. I'll be going elsewhere in the future. read more

I had a piece of metal in a tire (March28,2017), was on lunch, short on time, and explaining that I needed the D.O.T. Number checked so that Burt could confirm that the tire is covered under road hazard. When I asked Burt to check the D.O.T. (Something I have asked other places to do and I have seen done before), he refused to check the number, telling me: "the D.O.T. Number is on the inside of the tire and I am not getting on my hands and ... we'll you know what... I'm just not doing it". I told him I would really appreciate us checking it together, that way when the DOT was confirmed I could take an Uber, get home for lunch, and pick up the car when it's finished. Burt refused again, I went outside and looked at the tire, the DOT number was there, so I returned and the person inside pages Burt. He returned appearing agitated. I told Burt that I found the DOT number if he could just check it in their system quickly so that I could make a plan for the rest of my day. Burt refused, he said that they have their process and that I could leave and he would let me know later. I took an Uber home, shortly got a call from Burt, he had confirmed that the tire was covered under road hazard warranty and that they would replace the tire, but not until the next day (March 29, 2017). I asked for them to install the spare so that I could park the car inside because sever storms with hail were forecasted. Burt refused to put the spare on the car, I agreed that would be okay to leave it at the shop. This part is the real kicker. I was driving by later that day (at 6:57pm) and saw that the car was sitting outside with the flat tire. Concerned about the incoming severe storms and hail I stopped to see if they were open (they were closed), I checked the bays (there were 2 empty bays), and just to be safe I checked my car doors (they were unlocked). There were plenty of valuables inside the car, not to mention the car itself sitting outside with hail coming when it clearly could have been parked inside. I searched the web and their building for an after hours phone number to see if they could move the car inside or give me the keys so that I could change the tire to the spare and put it in my garage. There is no such number posted anywhere. I went home and told my wife what was going on, we concluded that we would have to call my wife's mother to get the spare key. I had to have my mother in law meet me, I drove back to Kennedys (30min of my time round trip), changed the tire to the spare (40 minutes of my time), and got home just before the storms came. Pea sized hail hit with 70 mph winds, so I was lucky to get it home. I called (March 28) and left a message at Kennedys to let them know I had taken the car. The morning of March 29 at 7:45 am (15 minutes after they open) I called Kennedys to find out when would be best for me to bring the car back (depending on when the new tire would be delivered to their location). I asked if they had gotten my message and Burt said, "wait what car are we talking about? We didn't notice any cars were missing" They had no clue the car was even gone! What if it was stolen?! Plus it very well could have been, they left it unlocked outside! I dropped the car off and picked it up shortly after and Burt said "I threw in a 50% off for an oil change on your invoice that you can use later" which made me laugh. 50% off an oil change? For 2+ hours of my time wasted, finding my car outside, unlocked with valuables in it, the effort of changing my tire, bringing the car back and forth, and 2 Uber rides totaling $15+. I couldn't help myself, he was so far from making the situation "right" and somehow he was still abrasive and since the beginning he seemed entitled to being so abrasive to me (as if it were somehow justified). Stay away! I took my car in for an oil change on a Friday. On the weekend I notice the low oil light. I check the dip stick and it is clean and dry. I miss church on Easter because it looks like I don't have any oil in my car. On Monday morning I call and explain the situation to the manager. At my request he sends a tech to my house (~3 miles away) to check the oil level and add oil if needed. The tech checked the dip stick and agreed that it is dry. He adds 2 quarts of oil before the dip stick registers that there is oil in the car. My car takes 5.1 quarts of oil which means that on Friday they only put in 3.1 quarts. I return to the shop to speak to the manager and they also what to check to see if my car has a leak that would cause the oil level to drop. As it turned out the tech on Friday misread the work order as saying put 3.1 instead of 5.1 quarts in the car. I admit the 5 did kinda look like a 3. But if it's your job of changing oil wouldn't you know roughly how much oil different cars take? I spoke both to the manager and the owner and asked for a refund. They both said 'no' they couldn't do that. It's not that they 'couldn't' they just wouldn't. The offer they gave was: a coupon for a free oil change. Like I would ever go back to the shop!! I took the coupon and gave it to a man in the waiting area. They don't care about customer satisfaction. They wouldn't even give me a copy of the work order. Dave was extremely rude. Cuts you off mid sentence and pretty much calls you a lair even if you know what is wrong with your vehicle. Won't take my car back. The techs are good but Dave made it to where I don't ever want to go back. read more

I have been here twice in the last two months. First my starter went out, Dave listen to my need to have it done quickly and it was done. Then my car was wobbly when driving and took it in about 5:20pm on a Friday within 20 minutes I got a call from Dave telling me my tire was bad, it was fixed by 8:30 the next morning. I wasn't hassled about needing other things fixed. I had great service, from the front desk to the guys that fix the cars. read more

I would have given them zero stars if yelp would let me. I took a problem Interstate battery to Kennedy where they told me a 59-month old battery would not have much warranty allowance. I had to insist they calculate the warranty allowance, and it came to $24.67. They then told me they could not honor the warranty (it is nationwide) because they did not sell the battery to me. Again I objected, and they replaced the battery after deducting the $24.67 warranty allowance. I also asked them to replace a high-mount center brake light, which they accessed from inside the trunk, and charged $20 for the labor to change the bulb, which I feel was completely unreasonable for the time it took to replace the bulb. On another occasion I had a leaking intake manifold gasket replaced. Afterwards, I had to take it back to them for a spark plug mis-fire (they said it had come loose) and an inoperative cruise contro (the say the wire fell off). My experiences with this repair shop has taught me that taking my cars to them is a very bad idea, and I will never ask them to do ANYTHING in the future. I am also extremely surprised that a shop as inept as they are can appear as "AAA recommended." My advice to anyone is: RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN! read more

I received a coupon in the mail for a $19.95 oil change. So I decided to support my community and come to Kennedy Tire & Auto Service to get my oil changed. That was the biggest mistake I have ever made! Halfway through changing my oil, someone came out and told me that I need a "special" oil filter on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt that was going to cost $8, instead of the filter that came with the oil change. I told them that I did not want it, I just wanted the $19.95 oil change and everything that comes with that specific oil change. When my car was done, my bill was $32 and some change. I was charged for labor, which is always included in the special coupon price everywhere I have ever gone. However, it was not in the fine print on the coupon that labor was not included. When my father questioned this, he spoke to Greg Kennedy, the owner, on the phone who proceeded to tell my father he was a liar. This company took advantage of the fact that I am a girl who is too ignorant, in their opinion, to realize that I was being ripped off. I will be posting on every review and social media site I can to warn people against bringing their business to this horrible place. I have never been to such a disrespectful place in my life. My father and I have already contacted the Better Business Bureau to inform them that their advertisement is false. Because of their arrogant, disrespectful attitudes and that fact that they RIPPED ME OFF, I have now made it my business to ruin theirs. This is a warning to all Edmondnites, especially women, do not go to Kennedy Tires & Auto service. Do not visit their store, do not buy anything from them, and don't expect any sort of professionalism or customer service. I requested a courtesy tire pressure check. I was told they would have to write a ticket. I waited 10 minutes and left without getting the tires checked. They were not busy. Fewer than half the bays were in use and no one waiting. After reading the reviews here, it's probably just as well. read more
