They canceled my appointment because I didn't answer the telephone I'm extremely hearing-impaired and they knew that. I finally got into Be seen and Singleton denied having an accent because I had difficulty understanding him with my hearing impairment. He ultimately did not do what he said it was going to do which was clean my teeth and instead pass the buck to refer me to someone else. Rude jerk. read more

Dr. Ken Singleton is an excellent dentist! I had a really bad infected tooth that needed immediate attention. The office staff worked me right in and I had an appointment in 30 minutes because the current appointment had canceled. My boyfriends' mother took me in and after a set of x-rays, Dr. Singleton went straight to work. A couple minutes later and that painful wisdom tooth was pulled out! This guy tried to remove my impacted wisdom teeth, and sent me home halfway through the procedure because I complained of pain.. after returning home with a busted up mouth, I had to call an emergency oral surgeon to fit me in the next day.. the surgeons assistant then told us that Singleton is not even certificated to remove impacted teeth and accepted the job since we were paying cash and not asking many questions.. never again returning to this guy.. Very prompt. Was surprised it was just him and the office clerk for a staff. I'm not sure if they have a hygienist on staff, because the does the cleaning as well. Was experiencing pain when I bit down, so he said I had a cracked tooth. He ground out the crack and filled it in. Still had some problems afterwards and wasn't impressed enough during my visit to make me return to him and see what was up, Eventually went back to a different dentist about the problem. New dentist was surprised that the crack was just filled in, rather than a crown put on it. New dentist said there wasn't enough tooth left surrounding the filling for support. So he put a crown on it. No problems with the crown since, but now I've got problems with another tooth that the new dentist worked on. Bottom line, It's not that I don't trust or like dentists. But when it comes to my teeth, I'm very wary of who I go to..... And to be honest, I'm still looking for a good dentist in the Eureka or Arcata area....... read more

Horrible experience! Not going back there. His only concern was to know what other dentist I went before and who did what, which should not matter I just wanted my pain to go away, not to mention he was only criticizing all the other dentists I went before him saying they did a horrible work which is totally unprofessional. I was in a real pain he didn't even cared to explain what was wrong with my teeth only said he would be sending me to a specialist which they scheduled for a month and a half later when I was in a severe root canal pain. No communication with the patient and rude. After the visit to his office I got a $300 bill for his lame services. Don't go there. read more

These people are the best! Straight-shooters, kind and knowledgeable. Very nice people (Dr, front desk and hygienist) and take care of you. They put up with all my special requests (health and allergy issues) and never make me feel bad about it. Very efficient too. Highly recommend. While I sympathize with Josef's review, I had as great an experience with Dr. Singleton as one can hope for, considering no one makes a 'pleasure trip' of a dentists' visit. Angela, the office manager, took pity on me in my distress and whisked me right in; the hygenist/tech was competent and professional, and Dr. Singleton, while obviously disapproving of my 10 year lapse between dental check-ups, was able to handle a difficult pair of extractions with relatively gentle workmanship. If I ever get over my fear of dentists it will be people like him who make it possible. Thank you all! read more

The man did for me what none of the dentists in Arcata could do- squeeze me in on a Monday morning as a new patient. After experiencing two days of throbbing pain due to a tooth infection, he was the only dentist out of the twelve I called that could even think to work me in that day, and a half-hour after I called in too. His staff is kind, intelligent, and attentive, and really goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome in the office. While I was there, Singleton seemed a little stressed, but I assume that's because I dropped in during a busy part of the day. Regardless, he did an excellent job doing what he could on my tooth, and referred me elsewhere for a root canal. Bottom line, if you have a dental emergency and aren't already established as a patient here (I'm looking at you, HSU students), call Singleton first. Dr singleton is a professional, and was sympathetic to my discomfort when I had a "hot" tooth. Wow. I had pains from an emerging wisdom tooth and finally decided that it was time to pull it. I could tell it was infected and most of it was under my gum (roughly 80%). I did my homework online to find the best possible dentist and Dr. Singleton had some gnarly (i.e. great) reviews. I called them and they told me that Dr. Singleton could do the job providing that the tooth was in good condition (e.g. not fused to the jaw, cracked, etc). I went in this afternoon at 2:45 and left at 4:00. Within this time x-rays were done, lidocaine was injected, gum cut, tooth pulled, and suture applied (it was a very large wisdom tooth). I am amazed at how smoothly this process went. I did not pay an arm and a leg either. Compared to the average price of wisdom tooth extraction he was on the lower end. Great. I'm not originally from Eureka, and had had the same dentist my whole life before moving here. I found what I believed to be a cavity (had never had one before so I wasn't positive) about a year ago. So there I was freaked out that my teeth were self-destructing, far away from my usual dentist. I called Dr. Singleton's office and they were able to squeeze me in fairly quickly (in two day's time if memory serves). The woman in the office was very helpful and patient with me muddling around with my insurance info and whatnot; Dr. Singleton was great, very friendly "bedside" manner. As for the cavity, he filled it beautifully, I can't even tell it's there. read more

I was a patient of ken for a few years why I stayed with him I'll always wonder .I guess it took me some time to figure out that he is a huge bully. Constantly injecting massive amounts of novacaine,after repeatedly asking him to use a bit less. One time while working on a difficult rear tooth,he was pulling out my cheek so forceablely, I politely asked him to lighten up a bit. When he finished up he had cut my inner cheek with his grinder 8 times,then told me it was my fault because he couldn't open my cheek (at my request). Therefore when the novacaine wore off I was in for infection and much pain. I immediately went to the county health department where pictures were taken and medications were prescribed. Use caution when he puts you in his dirty dengy back room,check out the drawer where his tool are kept. Dont hesitate to ask for x-ray aprons from the clean rooms that are clean and has no rips and tears. No I'll never go back read more
