The second time we ordered the trashed ribs as an appetizer. Wow!! So good. My new favorite item at Kenova. I got the burnt ends sandwich with cole slaw added and the crispy brussel sprouts as the side. Both were great. The wait staff was perfect for each visit. Ordered takeout. Sorry I did. 1. Two burger plates - they did NOT follow orders AT all on the burger and they literally just threw them in the plastic containers with cold fries. The burger with the egg on it ran ALL over the bottom of the enclosed plastic container. It ended up being cold and disgusting. Burgers are OVERLY salty. The fries were horrible and flaccid. This happens when you stick everything in a to-go container and don't put the fries in a bag with some air. 2. Ordered wings. Stringy. Warm, not hot. I don't know what the rub was but it was sweet and unexpected. Again, not good. 3. Forgot some items on my order. No chili. No ketchup. No mayo for burgers. I have to eat gluten free and I noted that on the order less than 5 minutes later I got a call from the store because one of the sides I had chosen had gluten. So, decided to go there for lunch today. We were there at 11:05am. We wanted to sit in a booth which BARELY seats 4. There were only TWO 2 tops in there. ALL other seats were empty. The server REFUSED to sit us in a booth stating "we can't because we get so busy at lunch, only 4 tops can sit there." WOW! What part of HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY escaped your mind? Soooo, we left. I'm not sitting in your hard seats because your owner didn't get the memo of customer service. We are NOW at Half Shell Oyster House sitting in a VERY comfortable booth. I've been in Hospitality Industry for 30 yrs. Not ONCE have I EVER told a guest "you can't sit there". There is a reason certain restaurants don't make it past the 5 yr mark. I'm from Texas where Beef Brisket is KING and after living in Mississippi for 12 years I can honestly say that they Hands Down have THE BEST BRISKET in the state!!! So this is my second time going because ... the burnt ends are amazing! But Still the potato's salad is BLAND! The wings were great, and the beans were awesome! The fries are fries! Less course salt this time but still good. We got the half chicken this time and it was smoked well. The only issue is that this time the coleslaw was slick and about to spoil. So both times now I've had food that was going bad served! The coleslaw tasted like it was left out too long in the heat. I hate that it was rancid because it looked SOO GOOD! My family and I live in Picayune, we we're in the area chasing snow (my 10 yo daughter loves snow) and afterwards we decided to grab a bite to eat. Yelp did not let us down. This place is AMAZING. This is coming from a guy that cooks BBQ himself on several different smokers. Trust me when I say this is PROPER BBQ. Especially the brisket. I was relieved when they actually let you choose between fatty and lean, which of course I picked fatty. MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. Beautiful bark and just the right amount of delicious SMOKE. BUT. That's not all. The portions are HUGE, especially by today's standards for good BBQ. Everywhere seems to charge a premium and skimp out on the portion size. I must disagree that the concept of "cook awesome food, run out, get ready for the next day" is a great restaurant business plan. We arrived at 6:15 on a Thursday night and were told that they were out of pulled pork AND chicken. That left brisket and ribs, we went for the brisket. We ordered the corn bread appetizer, it never arrived. The salads were good, the beans were ok, the French fries appeared to be hand cut and were tasty. If we were rating the restaurant on the brisket, it would receive a 4, it was excellent. The table next to us was having major issues: missing salads, wrong sides, etc. Unfortunately for us this meant that most of the waitstaff was occupied and unavailable for refills, etc. Bottom Line: the food is good and it's nice to have another option in this part of town but your best bet is to call in and pick up your order rather than dine in. read more

Small place in small strip center. Nice staff. Large servings at a reasonable price. Plates come with 3 sides and a big slice of corn bread. Very good ribs (half slab was 6 lean meaty ribs), house chili (made with chunks of their brisket), baked beans, collard greens and corn bread shared for 2 of us was more than enough. The other member of our part got chili queso fries which could feed 3 average eaters. If they don't bring you the white bbq sauce ask for it. Really unique. Talk about generous! And fresh! Usually when you go to bbq places the green beans are cooked to death - here, they are crisp and well seasoned. My mouth just started watering at the thought of them.
