We used Ken's Plumbing to inspect the sewer line in a home prior to the closing. The two technicians ran a camera in the sewer line and said all looked fine. Well, we closed within weeks and guess what? The sewer line that was just inspected was disconnected in the street! We tried to resolve the issue of misdiagnosis directly with the owner Mr. Casper. To no avail, he refuses to speak to us. This sewer line replacement cost us $18,000.00. I saved the cracked pipe and have photos. I cannot say enough great things about Ken's Plumbing. We called them to diagnose an issue with our sewer line that a previous plumber could not resolve, and I'm so glad we did. Our first service call was with Paul, he was very thorough and took the time to explain what was going on with our sewer line. Our issue required further investigation, and shortly after his visit, Mike, Adam, and Rodney returned to camera our line and it was determined that our sewer line needed to be replaced. The estimate Mike provided was several thousand dollars less than another estimate we obtained. When they replaced the line, Mike, John, and Eddie worked through the day without stopping to get the job done. We were included in the whole project and Mike was excellent at keeping us informed. Bad. I think the lady answering phone has more brains than the owner and his plumbers out in the field. Nasty guy 'Adam?' charged ~$300 for a mere 20 min toilet job. Plumber was rushing, nasty, he went on to spell 'M-O-E-N', a plumbing brand I am not too familiar with. Too bad, he is literate enough to spell things but still ended up fixing toilets. Never again! We decided to go with Ken's Plumbing for a shower faucet repair, since we had a great experience with them in the past, particularly with Mike. He and Barbara, in the office, have been very professional and helpful. However, we were serviced this time by Adam who came across as rude and condescending. He was no doubt very knowledgeable and competent in his plumbing skills, but the interaction was less than ideal. He quoted me a reasonable hourly labor cost for the work, and when I asked him how many hours it would take he just shrugged his shoulders and said he couldn't tell me, which I found to be ridiculous. I understand lots of things could go wrong, but I had to argue for him to give me an estimate of the time it would take (the actual repair took about 15 min BTW). Then, he wanted to charge me an extra hour for him to leave and pick up the part needed for the repair, which we ended up compromising on - I agreed to pay for 1/2 hour which I still wasn't happy about. Overall, the price I ended up paying was a lot lower than other quotes I received for the same work, which was the main reason I still used them, and the quality of the work was great. However, I would only use Ken's Plumbing again if someone other than Adam came to do the work, since having a positive interaction with the people coming to my house to do the work is very important to me. read more

We had a suspected broken sewer pipe under our foundation. Christine, in the office, made us a priority because I couldn't use my washer, dishwasher or kitchen sink. She fit me in same day for our estimate and we talked a few times over the next week. She was so pleasant and warm it helped with my choice of who to use! A friendly and knowledgeable office staff is icing on the cake. My insurance company wanted us to get 3 estimates and we chose Ken's because Paul came out and was honest, super friendly, and very knowledgeable. He detailed how they'd locate where the leak was, how they'd go about fixing it and reassured me that it wasn't as big of a hassle as I previously believed. Their estimate was almost half of that of the one other estimate we got! When they came to fix our pipe Christine called me in advance to let me know when they were leaving and when they'd get to my house. Paul and Dave quickly got to work and called me downstairs at every step of the way to show me what was wrong and where and how they'd solve the problem! That level of keeping a homeowner in the loop is why I will use them in the future. When they left to get supplies, they were back within an hour and apologized for being gone so long! It was barely an hour! Paul and Dave snaked my sewer line and put a camera in it to assure there were no issues further down the line that they weren't able to see while I watched. I fully appreciated them taking such great care of us! They also added an access to the pipe that wasn't previously there so in the future it'll be accessible much easier if it ever needs to be cleaned. They finished the job in one day! Their determination to get me a working kitchen again made the experience so much better! We were told by the other plumbers it would be a minimum of 2-3 days. There's not enough I can say about my experience with Ken's Plumbing. They are honest, hard working and go above and beyond for their customers. I highly recommend them! I will be using them again when we finally decide to redo our bathroom. read more

I scheduled a day for them to come give me an estimate and they didn't make it. They came another day and told me that I would have an estimate for me the following day. After 2 weeks of calling to see where my estimate was they said that they decided they didn't want the job. Ken's plumping was recommended to me for their amazing work. Contacted them during the weekend when my basement was flooding, and Adam arrived within 20 minutes. He was able to explain the problem, fix it and talk to me like a normal person about what he did and what I needed to do. Their price was extremely fair even during the weekend. No one wants plumbing issues but, if needed these are the guys I will call for a professional, courteous, and honest work. read more

Very unprofessional. First they called to confirm an appointment for a wring time then never showed up. Had to waste over an hour from my work day... The plumber that was supposed to show up was Eddie. Horrible service, they tried to offer $25 credit towards a job. We need a sewage pipe replaced which probably costs in the thousands. read more

I called Ken's Plumbing to clean out a main sewer that another plumber said the pipe was collapsed & full of roots. The other plumber said the sewer line needed to be replaced @ $9,000. Ken's came promptly @ put a camera down the pipe. They then cut the roots & cleared the line. The camera showed that the pipe was not collapsed. Cost = less than $9,000 and working perfectly. Yesterday we experienced great service from Ken's Plumbing. From my first phone Barbara carefully listened, wrote everything down and got me an immediate estimate and appointment. Barbara was a beacon of light from a telephone line. The technicians were on time, efficient and knowledgeable. Within an hour they resolved 3 issues and for much less than the estimate. They new exactly what to do with no hesitation, like a good surgeon. Very clean also. They easily could have said replace this or you need a new part, but not Ken's Plumbing. I'm very impressed and would advise anyone needing plumbing work to use Ken's Plumbing a local in town business who cares about customers and their reputation. Ken's recently cleaned the roots out of my sewer pipe that leads to the street. They charged $250 for the camera and $185 an hour for the two workers from Ken's. So this wasn't cheap, but the workers worked effectively and efficiently. They were willing to have me present and showed me what was going on during the process. They made a DVD using the camera of the entire sewer pipe after they were done. I'd been told by an unscrupulous contractor that I needed to have a new sewer pipe installed for thousands of dollars, but Ken provided an effective, less expensive alternative. read more

These guys are reliable, they will come to you at the scheduled time. They are overall clean and organized. I had 3 different service appointments with them and the first 2 were fairly simple and straightforward and they did a good job with that. I was sadly disappointed by how they managed their time and how they did troubleshooting the third time they were here. Basically, between taking multiple calls from the shop and going back and forth to their service truck for simple things like Teflon tape and screwdriver, they ate up a good 15-30 minutes. When I said they got to take that time off my bill, they 'respefully disagreed' and kept it on. So I basically ended up paying for a half hour more for what should have not been billed. Plumbers are expensive, and these guys did not admit that they wasted that half hour. I am giving them 3 stars instead of 5 because they truly made me eat the cost of their mismanaged time. read more

They have helped me with small and serious issues for over 15 years. When they came the first time they saved me over $10,000. Another service told me I needed my sewer line replaced and when I called kens for a second opinion they saved the day by simply having the strong equipment to clear the line. We recently needed a plumber to replace a kitchen faucet at our home in Edison so, on the recommendation of someone we know, we called Ken's for the first time. They came to the house when they said they would, replaced the faucet competently and efficiently, and charged what we considered to be a reasonable amount for the work. A couple of months later, the drains from the building clogged. We called Ken's again, and Adam came to the house to handle the problem, again exactly when we were told he'd be there. He tried to clear the drain from the cleanout plug, but with only limited success, so came back a couple of days later to camera the line. Again, the charges were reasonable. When he ran the camera through the line, he concluded that the original, 64 year old sewer lateral had broken or collapsed. Ken's gave us a proposal to dig up the line at the break and replace the broken section. Again, reasonable, not cheap, given the nature of the work. Adam from Ken's and his co-worker again arrived at the agreed upon time, and began to dig up the ground where they thought the lateral was broken. Here's why I'm taking the time to write this review. When they dug up the ground, they discovered that the original lateral had deteriorated along a much longer length than they originally thought. Rather than just replace the piece that they had contracted to replace, let it go at that, and move on to their next call, Adam suggested to us that the entire remaining length of the original sewer lateral be excavated and replaced, right then and right there. Ken's office gave us a very fair, reasonable price for replacing the remaining length of the original sewer lateral, particularly given the fact that we were in a position where we couldn't say "no", and the work was done properly. Adam from Ken's could have just ignored the remaining length of the original sewer lateral; he didn't. Ken's could have charged us more than what was reasonable to replace the remaining original sewer lateral; they didn't. In our experience, the people from Ken's are capable, honest and reasonable. Ugh. Should have taken a cue from Dima S. Called on a Friday afternoon to schedule an appt for tues afternoon. Mentioned that we are looking to diagnose and collect estimates on what I expect to be a significant repair (sewer line). Nevertheless, no call no show. I actually chuckled while writing this since I would have actually given another star or two If I got a response back like "no thanks, not interested", I least I wouldn't have wasted a day and would have scheduled someone else to come out. I don't know what it is, but a lot of these "trades" just don't get it. This happens all to often and just must be part of the culture of disrespecting potential customers in this industry. Disappointing, considering one of the reasons I called them in the first place was the good overall review. I guess they do not need the job. At any rate, I wish them luck, they just won't be getting any business from me. read more
