This gentleman went to college right here in Louisville and after forty plus years of working in a distillery worked his way to the top as master distiller. His own brews are pretty good too. How about Jack Daniel's Gentleman's Jack. That was Mr. Henderson. The building that Angels Envy occupies was occupied prior by American Elevator and Machine and American Saw. Later it existed as Vermont American Complex, then it was abandoned. The site was deteriorated but became the place where in 2010 revival. The Henderson family and Louisville Distilling Co made their permanent presence. They invested in the surrounding area too. They made a massive complex when you visit . Now come and visit today. I walked in not knowing what to expect and had no specific plans. I guess I was hoping to go on a tour but there were no more tours that fit into our itinerary. We walked around for a couple of minutes to kill. Since there was a lot to see block after block in this area, we decided not spend too much time here. It was cool to stop in just to check it out and possibly plan a tour for next time we are in town. There was merchandise and bottles available to purchase but we withheld due to not sampling any of the bourbons. We were not approached by any staff offering assistance, which was fine since we did not require any but maybe a hello would have been cool.

Our tour guide was local and had actually lived in the area near many of the homes we visited, which I thought made the tour more interesting. She also told us about some upcoming television shows that will be featuring a few of the locations, so I'll definitely be watching for those! I really enjoyed the storytelling, although I'll admit I was a little skeptical of some of the stories. There were so many details told from such a specific perspective that I kept thinking, How exactly do we know that happened? Were you there?! It definitely made me want to look up some of the stories afterward and learn more about the history behind them. One thing I would have really liked is the opportunity to actually go inside some of the locations. Unfortunately, we stayed outside the entire time. I would absolutely pay extra for a tour that included access to the interiors of some of these historic homes. I booked through TripAdvisor, and the process was super easy. Overall, it was fun, entertaining, and a great way to spend an evening learning about some of Louisville's spooky history.

I cannot recommend the Kentucky Bourbon Boys highly enough! If you want the best and most stress-free way to visit some of the distilleries on the bourbon trail do not hesitate to book a trip with them. I contacted them upon recommendation by the Louisville Visitors Center after I had trouble booking with some bigger name companies in the area and I am so thankful I did. From the start, they were incredibly flexible and accommodating with our unique needs. Our guide, Tim, was so knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and kind- we left with a wealth of knowledge and feeling like we had spent the day with a friend instead of a stranger. Everything you can think of is taken care making this the most relaxing experience possible. From snacks and refreshments for the ride, to lunch reservations at a great local spot and scheduling out the tour times perfectly or photos taken at all your stops- all you have to do is be ready to be picked up and then enjoy your time until you are dropped back home. They also have tons of recommendations for just about anything in the area for the rest of your stay in Louisville which we immensely appreciated as (very overwhelmed) first-time visitors. You can tell that these folks are really passionate about both bourbon and showing people a great time on the bourbon trail and all that Louisville has to offer. My partner and I would never book with another company should we find ourselves in Louisville again (and we hope we do!). read more

Want an awesome Kentucky Bourbon Tour? Then sign-up with Kentucky Bourbon Boys! In my first conversation with Tim, I described that my group had just finished a self guided tour of several distilleries and we were looking for our next tour to take to the back roads of Kentucky and we wanted something special on the tour. By something special I meant more than here's the still, here's the bottling line, quick taste, and the shuffle into the gift shop. Tim immediately had some ideas and assured me he was all over it. In addition, it was really important we covered a lot of back roads, the scenery of central Kentucky is beautiful. Tim and Kentucky Bourbon Boys took care of all the details! Our lunch was planned out in advance saving us valuable time in the always busy Mammy's! Despite running a little long on our first tour, lunch arrived within minutes of sitting down at our reserved table. Tim had plenty of water (re-hydration is key over the course of the day) and snacks. As for the tours: we visited Barton's, Limestone Branch, and Maker's Mark. All were fun and unique. Barton was our favorite because it's much more "as is" vs. many of the factory like tours of the slightly more marketed distilleries. I have had the pleasure of working with the Kentucky Bourbon Boys from many different angles - often as a travel agent with clients coming into Bourbon Country, and once recently as a bourbon tourist myself! First of all, being able to find a customize-able yet affordable bourbon country tour is challenging. Well, they've done it. You can let them choose the distilleries, you can choose them, you can add more stops, less, and pick a great lunch spot for your group. For roughly $130/person (as of May '16) you get transportation for the whole day, 2 distillery tour admissions, lunch, and great knowledgeable company. PERSONAL: Oh my god so fun. Took my boyfriend, his sister, and family out this past weekend for pre-Derby fun and they were just so enjoyable. They showed my out-of-town guests an amazing, hospitable Kentucky experience! PROFESSIONAL: I've sent three groups of clients sent their way for a mixture of business entertainment and leisure purposes and each time the KBB has knocked it out of the park. They have a great variety of vehicles to source to fit your needs and can morph their tour to fit the "feel" of your business visit. Looking forward to this partnership continuing! We had an excellent two days of tours with the Kentucky Bourbon Boys. Roger, our driver and guide, was fantastic and made the experience all about what we wanted to see and do. A few details - Day one was the Southern Tour with stops at Jim Beam, Limestone Branch and Maker's Mark. Our trip started out with a bit of a hiccup. We were booked for a tour at Jim Beam, but through some miscommunication, we were unable to go on that tour. Roger and Tim responded quickly and had us booked for a premium tour and tasting at Preservation Distillery almost immediately. I am sure Jim Beam has a great tour, but the time we spent at Preservation and the whiskey we got to taste was truly spectacular. Great recovery! The rest of the day was excellent also. Roger got us everywhere we needed to be on time without making us feel rushed. Lunch both days were at nice local spots with good food and service. Day two we did the Eastern Tour. We started the day at Wilderness Trail, then Four Roses and finished at Three Boys Farm Distillery. All great experiences. We highly recommend mixing up your day between large, medium and small distilleries if you can. Kentucky Bourbon Boys was an amazing company to partner with. With everything going on with pandemic still they have stayed on top of the distrilleries constant change. First was canceled in spring of 2020 and then we were ready to go again for my buddies late bachalor party. Abigail who was our main contact had to change our tour multiple times due to the distrillaries changes. She gave us the best suggestions after multi changes. Calm and collect this company is. She worked with me till the night before to make sure we were good to go with our driver (Andrew). Andrew wa an amazing driver and very personalable. Our group loved him and was very knowledgeable as well. We felt he was part of the bachalor party. We did a bourbon tour with KBB for my husbands 30th birthday with our friends, total group of 9 people, and it was absolutely amazing!! We can not wait to come back again next year and book with KBB again to tour and do tastings at three more distilleries! We had so much and KBB made it effortlessly easy. From the pickup right in front of our AirBNB, coordinating and scheduling the three bourbon tour/tastings, making lunch reservations at local and DELICIOUS restaurants, to our fabulous driver, Justin! From start to finish the entire experience with KBB was fantastic! Covid had closed some of the distilleries that our group wanted to visit but not to worry- communication with Tim was great and he was extremely helpful in getting us the best possible tour set up. We settled on Wild Turkey, Buffalo Trace and James E . Pepper. On the day of our tour our driver David was on time and ready to go with snacks and waters in the van. We had a blast with David in the van driving from place to place learning about some local KY history. During our distillery tours WT had the best tasting flight, BT had the best tour; letting us go into the rick houses and JEP had the best experience pulling pours straight from the barrel. I highly recommend taking a tour with the Kentucky Burbon Boys!! Scott helped me to plan the ABSOLUTE perfect day to celebrate my husbnd's birthday. His recommendations were spot on! We loved the history at Woodford, the spirits at Buffalo Trace and the charm and uniqueness of Whisky Thief!! We even got to meet him while we were in the Buffalo Trace gift shop!! Our driver, Joni, was also AMAZING!! She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and accommodating! She gave us recommendations for different distilleries to check out, places to get burbon balls and other historical sites we were interested in. Such a fun and relaxing day!! A friend recommended Kentucy Bourbon Boys for our tour of the Bourbon Trail. They said it will cost a little bit but no driving or worrying about scheduling etc. I scheduled our tours and it could not have been easier. Roger, our driver, picked us up promptly at our hotel in an awesome conversion van with plenty of room and comfort. He was very friendly and his knowledge of the area and distilleries was exceptional. Tours are taken care of with your booking and it was seamless. Lunches each day were delicious. He also showed us the beautiful grounds of several distilleries that we did not tour but were nearby that we would have never done without the tour. From the start, everything about the Kentucky Bourbon Boys was great. Abigail was very responsive and helpful with the planning giving good recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed with in a last minute addition to our group. Trevor was amazing driving us around, and very knowledgeable about bourbon and Louisville in general. He gave some great insight into things to do. The bus was nice and fit all 13 in our party. We stopped at 3 places and each had a different experience, but the best was the recommendation from them to go to Three Boys Farm. It was a smaller operation, but the farm was a great environment and perfect for a bachelor party. We would not have even known to look at that place without their recommendation while planning all the stops. Overall 100% recommend! read more

The best thing about this birthday gift is that we all got to enjoy it. It really was the perfect day. The weather was beautiful, lunch at Darlin' Jean's was delicious (and we all had different meals), and the bourbon tours were pretty cool. Tim was a wealth of information and his planning made the day worry-free for us. In fact, when we got to Woodford Reserve, it was packed and we were a little concerned. Thanks to his impeccable timing, we only had a few minutes to wait before our tour began. On the way home, we took the "scenic route" and stopped by another distillery that isn't quite ready for tours yet. Our group of four had an excellent time visiting three distilleries as a birthday gift for husband, son and son-in-law. Tim was very helpful in arranging the details, including which distilleries to visit and where to have lunch. Roger was a great driver and friendly guide. He texted the night before to welcome us to Louisville and confirm the pickup time. They visited Jim Beam, Willett and Barton's. Although it was a rainy November day, everyone in our party enjoyed themselves, with the bourbon keeping them warm on the inside! We had the best time with the Kentucky Bourbon Boys (and girls). They took us around multiple different distilleries in Louisville. The group was very knowledgeable on the history of the area and the nice quirks that each distillery had. We loved the different types of distilleries we saw from large to small, each being unique in their own way. They also took us to a great spot for lunch with delicious bbq. Because of the connections they have with the restaurant we were able to place our order in advance and we were in and out and ready for more tastings! From my first connection with Abigail who helped me strategically plan our day to Brian picking up and escorting us to our three distilleries and lunch. Hands-down the best thing we did during our extended weekend in Louisville was book a private distillery tour for the day. KBB set us up with tours and tastings at our first choice distilleries, with a fantastic lunch at a place we'd never even heard of, along the way. Our driver Todd was fun knowledgeable, and even snuck in a stop at an additional distillery "just for fun" instead of leaving us to browse another gift shop. Easy hotel pickup and drop-off, and lots of good info along the way for where to find good bottles, etc. We are already talking about a return trip in a few year to explore another area, and will be sure to book KBB for that trip! read more

Fantastic 3 day tour with KBB! Could not have had more fun on a 3 day father-son trip. Megan initially set up the trip. Her recommendations were spot on. Tyler was the tour coordinater and he made sure everything was in order. And thanks for making my special lunch request happen! Ethan was our driver, host and gereral tour guide. The team at Kentucky Bourbon Boys helped us determine what locations we should see and lined up the day's experiences. We all had a great time with the staff and learning about the process of making bourbon. We visited Three Boys Farm, Buffalo Trace, and Old Pepper. From the time we contacted him, he…read morecorresponded promptly with information and suggestions, based on what our interests were, sending draft itineraries before finalizing the customized tour details. My husband wanted to see smaller distilleries, so Bob customized our tour to include several smaller distilleries. With his guidance, we got to have great one-on-one experiences at each one, much more than if we had tried to do things on our own. Additionally, he picked us up at our AirBnb way out in the boondocks of Taylorsville, took us to all the destinations, including lunch, and brought us back to our AirBnb at the end of each day. If you're doing a bourbon trail in Kentucky, you will have the best experience with Bob as your guide. He is well known at all of the distilleries, and walked into each destination with us, to make sure we knew where to go and were well taken care of. We were able to relax and enjoy ourselves, talk to some of the master distillers, do all kinds of tastings, all without worrying about organizing itinerary or having to drive back to our Airbnb after doing several tastings. At the end of each day, we were not exhausted or overwhelmed (unlike the day we went to a single distillery on our own). It is definitely well worth the cost to hire Bob and his team if you're doing a Kentucky bourbon tour, or any other tours in the area, for that matter. We saved up just for the purpose of hiring Bob while doing this trip, and it was well worth every penny! There's no way we would've gotten as much out of this trip trying to do this on our own without Bob as our tour guide. He is phenomenal, and knows Kentucky bourbon history, as well as other Kentucky history, inside and out! When I mentioned to him that I was a sourdough baker and interested in seeing bakeries, he mentioned several that we were able to visit later. He also recommended several chocolate shops, which we also visited later. Bob is a phenomenal tour guide, knowledgable about Kentucky history, and I'm so glad we were able to see the area with his guidance. We will definitely book him the next time we are in town!!! Our only regret is that we forgot to take a photo with him to share. I am still disappointed in myself for that. We won't forget next time...

He had water and snacks in the car, was a wealth of knowledge, made all of our distillery reservations, walked us right where we needed to be, allowed us plenty of time at each stop and did ALL the driving! We had an amazing day!

The staff is knowledgeable in helping narrow down your stops based on optimizing your visit and your interests. You might have to reach out to them a few times to get in contact, but no more so than any company with similar services. Our bus driver Ben was the real MVP. Totally great guy! He made our experience awesome. He was friendly, helpful, and even arranged a last minute tour for us at another distillery when we were running ahead of schedule. 10/10 would recommend!

We stopped in at the Clubhouse section, the bar where you can do tastings in a comfortable setting with comfy leather couches, nestled into the trees, a short distance from the building that offers tours. Jack set us up with four pours based on our interests, and offered a delightful, personalized lesson on their distilling and aging process. While we enjoyed all four tastes, we particularly loved one bourbon, which we then purchased directly from the barrels as part of a thieving experience. We even got to fill the bottle ourselves! We especially enjoyed that Jack signed the bottle personally. Highly recommend Jack and this little gem on the Bourbon Trail. BTW - for you other combat veterans out there, there's a special surprise.

We learned about the history of the distillery, viewed the inside, and ended with an assorted tasting. We even tried moonshine! I would definitely return and bring more out-of-town guests.
