The Angel's Envy distillery is pretty much the #1 reason that my top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I decided to go on a trip to Kentucky, and after actually visiting, justified it as well. During an early 2025 trip to Washington, D.C., we went to multiple establishments and, coincidentally or not, encountered this specific bourbon and just loved it. The most notable occurrence was at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, where I had literally the best Old-Fashioned I've ever had, using a special Angel's Envy that hung out in some sherry barrels for a while. Since then, we've both regularly ordered it when given the opportunity, and ultimately decided that the best way to appreciate this fine spirit was to go right to the source. So to the mothership we went. My chum did most of the heavy lifting here and scheduled a bourbon tour with Louisville Food Tours (very strong recommend) that featured Angel's Envy at the first stop. It's hard to really put into words what this building looks like as you walk in and explore, but it's just so...nice. It's classy without being inaccessible, and it just felt like a true cathedral of bourbon. As tasteful as the bourbon it makes. During our initial tour, we were probably in the distillery for a solid half hour plus, getting a quick tour of the still and fermenters before being led into a side room on the second floor to formally taste some bourbon. Paula was our guide, both during this tour and later on, and was just enormously impressive, which I touched upon in my review of the official tour as well. She's no-nonsense and loves her bourbon - who can't relate? We learned how to inspect the bourbon in the glass, to take a test sip to numb the pain receptors and to truly appreciate the subtle notes in the bourbon with the second sip. It was legitimately helpful, useful information that we're both going to utilize going forward. After our three-hour tour ended (go hard or go home), it wasn't even much of a discussion - we came back here for a few hours to soak in more of the atmosphere and drink some more bourbon. At this point, it was probably close to 5ish but the place was still pretty busy; somehow we were able to secure spots at the bar upstairs and made ourselves at home. I wish I could remember the name of our bartender (blame the time that has elapsed, not the bourbon), but he was very good, social without being oppressive and was just present and let us do our thing. After sipping straight bourbon for most of the afternoon, I switched to the Bourbon Renewal, which you'll be shocked to know includes Angel's Envy but is a more summer, fruit-forward cocktail and super refreshing. Was the right call and hit the spot. (We also got waters because that's the responsible thing to do.) We finally went back downstairs to the gift shop, which doesn't feel like the right term - it was more majestic than something you'd walk into after going through, say, a museum for an hour or two. It's enormous and offers numerous bourbons and also some very high quality swag. We reunited with our chum Paula and sampled their limited edition two-grain, which was created due to a fortunate mistake in which the rye wasn't added so it's just the corn and malted barley. You CAN see the difference and taste it; to me at least, it's more caramel-y than their normal single barrel. We each bought a bottle to bring back to the homeland. My chum basically bought half the store, but I remained calm/deliberate and my only other purchase was a MAGNIFICENT black hoodie. I'm not kidding - I love hoodies and have probably owned dozens over the years, and this is literally the best quality one I've had. It has this interesting front pouch pocket design with like a pocket within the pocket for high-priority items like your ID or credit cards, and the hood itself is interesting. It's just really good and I wore it all day the next day as we slowly made our way back to the East Coast. It's been washed and carefully placed in my closet, where it will reign supreme when the weather inevitably turns nippy again. It's not an exaggeration to say we probably spent hundreds of dollars (at least not thousands) directly and indirectly involving Angel's Envy on this trip. Worth it. read more

Right downtown and close to many other places. This was great to check out. Learned a lot about the history. Our tour guide, Paula, was fabulous. She was attentive, informative and taught us how to get past the initial burn of bourbon. I much enjoyed the bourbon and the chocolate pairings were a nice surprise. We were able to get tickets the night before at a time that worked well for us. The bar area is a nice place to hang out and if you don't do the tour you can still go get some tastings. read more

We experienced the Single Barrel tasting and tour. The history of the building and the bourbon was so fun to learn about. Be warned it will be very warm inside during the hot summer months however we were there early April so it was still comfortable inside during the tour. Tour guide was really fun and engaging was able to answer the groups questions without hesitation. The upstairs bar is beautiful and of course, super tasty bourbon aged in Port barrels. read more

Had a great tour here on the bourbon trail. The distillery is clean and unique in downtown Louisville. It is located across from Louisville Slugger Field. Our guide was very knowledgeable and provided great information. We were given a great history of bourbon and the making of it. We were able to taste some distillers beer. The roof of the distillery is beautiful. The gift shop is filled with buys and we were able to buy a bottle and have it laser etched with a message. This is a must on the trail when in Louisville. read more

I've been a fan of Angel's Envy for several years, so I knew when I was in Louisville, I'd have to go to their distillery. I ended up taking the full tour. The tour guide did a great job going through the entire distilling process. He was clearly knowledgeable and very personable. However, the highlight was a tasting at the end of the tour. Tasting their traditional bourbon, a triple oak, a rye, and a cask strength. All of which tasted great, but it was their triple oak that really shined. It was a great experience. They have a wonderful gift shop as well with great ambience. This is a beautiful distillery and everyone working there really provided outstanding customer service. I certainly will not hesitate to come to Angel's Envy the next time I'm in Louisville. Well done! read more

To be upfront, I just stopped into the gift shop and took a look around. I didn't do a tour. I had heard from some others that the tour is typical. Nothing stood out. Maybe one day, I'll check it out. I have been having fun hunting Buffalo Trace bottles, so I really wanted to see if Angels Envy had any deals. They didn't, Nothing was limited except one almost $300 bottle. I'm not a fan enough to spend that much for one of their bottles. The gift shop a few cool things but nothing that tempted me to buy. I may come back here with friends, but nothing wow'd me on this trip. read more

This distillery is a high end place with various tours and a bar on the second floor. Go upstairs for a upscale bourbon experience on unique drinks. I'm big on chai since I make chai from scratch and the chai drink was quite nice! Their napkins are also pretty sick too, be sure to use it! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Angel Envy..I finally made it. A short 15 minute walk from Galt House hotel. Easy to follow street signs along the way. Angel Envy is beautiful! Staff was friendly and nice. The gift shop had a bit of everything. We quickly located the two new products available only at the distillery for now in pint size. They have a 2 grain bourbon and Peated Cask Rye. Neither one disappointed. We sampledata at the bar upstairs. Normally not a fan of peated but to my surprise I enjoyed it more over the 2 grain bourbon. A must stop while in Louisville!!! read more

I have gone to other distilling houses but I love Angel's Envy so I needed to come here. Our host may have been a little tipsy/drunk and that would be the only issue I had with this tour. (He was a strange man and forgot twice we had an older lady that needed to use the elevator and she had to walk the stairs before I brought up that she needed the elevator to get down as well as up! He also took photos of each group but they were blurry so who knows!) Anyway, I would 100% recommend the Tour and tasting. read more

We visited the Angel's Envy Distillery today and took the Signature Tour ($31.80). It was worth every penny. Our guide was very informative and walked us through the full process of how their bourbon is crafted, from start to finish. The highlight, of course, was the tasting. We sampled four Angel's Envy bourbons, each unique in flavor, and paired them with three chocolates that complemented the pours perfectly. The combination brought out different notes in the bourbon that you might not notice otherwise. The distillery itself is beautiful and well laid out, with plenty of history and detail behind the brand. If you're in Louisville and enjoy bourbon, this is a must-do experience. read more

The feel of the brick next to the still was so cozy in the winter time. It was amazing as the tasting came with chocolate to pair. We had LIAM for our tour, which his BIG BOOMING VOICE! Liam knew the ins and outs of Angel's Envy - walking us through the entire process, and explaining everything well as we reached each location - the mash tanks, the distilling column, the doubler, the barrels - everything. Safety was appropriately stressed everywhere - stay inside the green lines. The tasting at the end was comprised of 4 different whiskeys, which were served with water and a bottle and eye dropper to soften them if desired. The tasting room was very nice, with comfortable chairs and nice glasswear! Notes: We attended this tour in July. It was very warm in the distillery in general so hydrate up before you go. read more

Out of all the distillery tours, this one was probably one of my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible or a bad experience (or I'd be giving way less stars), but it was just okay. Our tour guide was knowledgeable enough but really kind of awkward and very rigid. There wasn't a lot of conversation, questions or flow -- it was scripted and she was not a fan or comfortable going off script. That being said, I really enjoyed the bourbons that we got to taste, and appreciated the delicious chocolate pairings. They all worked well together and it was one of the only tours that had something like this (recently). The bar at the distillery looked just okay -- it was busy and we weren't really feeling the vibe with the cocktail options. This is one of the best tours we had in Louisville. Rick was a great storyteller! The tasting, tour, and bar were all great. The place is super clean and welcoming. The bartender we had was kind of stand off ish but I wasn't going to let that ruin a good review. Angels Envy is my favorite Kentucky Bourbon, so naturally we had to stop by on our drive from Chicago to Nashville. We arrived later in the afternoon, so we unfortunately didn't have time for a tour. We hung out in the tasting room/bar area and shared a flight. The staff is friendly and service is good. Btw, parking was free if you can find a free spot on the street, otherwise the lot across the street charges $10. Back to the flight, we had the Cellar Collection, which was tasty, rich in flavor and super strong in alcohol content. Looking forward to coming back for a tour and more tastings. read more

Had the best experience at Angel's Envy doing a Bottle Your Own experience with a special selected barrel. During our tasting, we were taught the "Kentucky Chew" of swishing around the first sip and how that opens your tastebuds. Tasted a younger bottle vs an aged barrel the we were getting to bottle ourselves. Lastly we did a comparison with an orange chocolate truffle with the batches. So educational and fun too! read more

Loved our visit to Angel's Envy for a little bourbon tasting. We didn't realize we needed to make an appointment or at least come earlier, but they still helped us out. We got to taste some of their more rare bottles and enjoyed it all. This was my introduction to the brand, and I'm definitely a fan. Well well well. This is part of the infamous bourbon trail I've heard so much about. When I was in Louisville for a wedding last year, I found myself stopping in this place for a tour... it was a tough pick between them all, and I forgot what put this one in the lead. But I'm glad I did! Our group was a good size, and the staff were very helpful and professional. It was really cool to see the whole process and get little tastings along the way, as I had never observed this process in person before. The layout is really cool and it's crazy how hot some of the rooms were XD. Our last two stops were an official tasting and getting to sit at the bar, which were nice. I didn't end up buying a bottle -- there was a hyper exclusive one there that was tempting, but I decided to stick with what I have (I have a lot). We did the chocolate tasting with two types of bourbon. The server was helpful and educated us regarding the bourbons and how to sip them. You can't go to Kentucky and not try bourbon! During my trip to Louisville I got to cross the Angel's Envy distillery off my bucket list and did their traditional tour. I would say this was the most interactive and informative tour that I've been on so far. Our guide asked who wanted to try the mash from the machine and of course I had to say yes! It's quite the experience, so if you get the chance to try it you should! At the end of the tour we did our bourbon tasting where we got to sample one bourbon that is only sold at the distillery along with some other brand favorites along with complementary chocolate truffles. We decided to book a tour of Angel's Envy while visiting Louisville, KY and it did not disappoint! Located in downtown, Angel's Envy is a quick walk from Nulu where our hotel was. For starters, our tour guide Tony was amazing; super friendly, knowledgeable and a joy to have for the approx. hour long tour of the entire facility. The tour groups are small, only 12 people in each group, so it is an extremely educational and intimate experience where you are able to ask questions and really get a good picture of how they do things at Angel's Envy. Towards the end, the tour includes a sit down bourbon tasting which is super fun! Reservations fill up quickly so make sure to book in advance; 1-2 weeks+ especially if there are any events going on in town. Highly recommend checking this out if you're visiting the Louisville area! read more
