Master Kenyon is great at making the classes fun and exciting for the kids, but challenging at the same time.

She made me want to push myself and not give up. I like the pace of the class where nothing is rushed and nothing is too confusing. The weight portion of the class was definitely challenging especially after intense cardio, but none of the moves were too crazy. I like the group format, and I think on different days they have stations on ipads, but this split class was nice as well. I will definitely be back!

On the day that we scheduled to come the sign in tablet was not finding our reservation. There was some confusion with the check-in as the tablet didn't recognize our name. Halfway through class we got pulled aside to sign a waiver at the front (just me). We also explained to them that we were contacted by someone and offered a free class. The class schedule is like a rotation. You get to hit the bags and move on to a bunch of core exercises. At the end of our class we had to "sign out". Which meant we had to talk to a rep at the front. I think they use that opportunity to sell us classes. It was kind of awkward because we were dead tired and I felt kind of put on the spot. I declined and the following 2 weeks after I received several voicemails of them wanting to offer me another free class. I don't think boxing is my thing personally, but I can see how this can be an effective HIT workout for those who would enjoy boxing. I would give this place a 3.5 round it up to a 4 because the instructor and employees were kind to us even though there was a miscommunication.

PLEASE READ, THEN SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP!…read more I work in the mental health field and was looking for a Jiu-Jitsu gym that offered more than just training. I wanted a place that felt like a true wellness space where I could bring clients for Jiu-Jitsu, fitness, and recovery. This place exceeded all my expectations. The facility has everything you could ask for. Clean, spacious mats, restrooms and showers, lockers, a fully equipped gym, and recovery options like a cold plunge, infrared sauna, and professional massage chairs. Everything is very clean. You can tell right away, even by how fresh the place smells. One of the best parts is the location. If you are a surfer like me, it is within walking distance of Tourmaline Surf Park, which makes it perfect to train after a session in the water. Parking is also very easy. I usually find a spot within 30 to 60 seconds since it is in a residential area and quieter during the times I train. They offer a variety of classes for all levels, along with yoga and personal training. What really stands out though is the community. Everyone is welcoming, supportive, and easy to get along with. If you are thinking about checking it out, this is your sign. Come try it for yourself. You will not regret it.

We have been at this studio for about 2 months now and are still loving it! Shingong Guerro is…read moreupbeat, enthusiastic and his passion for martial arts really shines, especially when he's out on the mat teaching the kids. One thing I really appreciate about his classes is that he focuses on the whole - yes, he's teaching the kids form and technique, but he's also using the opportunity of his captive audience to reinforce values, morals, and safety tips. And from a black-belt school, you'd expect nothing less! Parking can be a bit challenging, but that's true of any local business in PB that doesn't have a giant allotted parking lot. As long as we get there early, we can always find a spot! We especially like the flexibility of the weekly classes and we had a chance to experience one of his regular Parent's Night Out events and LET ME JUST STOP YOU HERE. This is not your average PNO, no, no no. First, the event lasted about 4 hours and seeing as how it was gonna be past my kiddo's bedtime, I showed up about an hour before it ended, thinking I'd be pulling him away from a movie and that'd be it. However when I showed up, all the lights were on, the music was pounding and the kids were having a freakin ball!!! I'm pretty sure every kid had the same huge smile plastered on their faces and it was so cool to watch. I saw my kiddo having so much fun I thought, "I can't tear him away from this" and I sat down and joined a few other parents who were also sitting down (no doubt having come early like myself thinking this would be a mellow come-and-go gig). What followed for almost an hour after that was watching the kids play games, move around and stay active and lots of cheering and smiling. Heck, I even wanted to join in on the fun at one point! I was truly blown away with the level to which Shigong and his team planned and executed a fully -themed event that was fun, educational, and active. Never in my parenting history have I seen that event done so well. And that's how his values flow into his studio time too - always giving no less than 100% and willing to do what it takes to excel in his art. Kiiiyah!

I came to American Boxing because it was close to where I lived and I stayed (for 3 years!) because of the coaching I received. I boxed with Coach Dave for about a year before he recruited me to try Muay Thai. The rest of my time there I trained 6 days a week in both sports! I loved every second. Coach Dave is legit. He's a good trainer, doesn't take any bullsh*t, and pushes you to be your best. My goal was to advance in the sport, improve my technique, and get in the best shape of my life. And I accomplished all of those things with Coach Dave. I personally like his teaching style. He's big on technique and explaining the "why" behind it and giving you great insight into the bigger picture of what you are learning. But what I liked most is he has this ability to push me and remove any obstacles (mostly mental) I could come up with to not push myself. It's like he knew what I was capable of even though I didn't. It also helped that Dave walked his talk. He's a champion, he can do all (and more) of what he is asking you to do. For years he pushed me and for years I excelled. I was strong, slim, fast, conditioned, and had abs for days. Then, I had to move away. :-( Through the years I have trained at other Muay Thai gyms always searching for a new "Dave." Trying to find a gym and a trainer that actually TRAINS me. Not someone who just goes through the motions or puts me through an aerobic workout class. It's been years since I trained with Dave and just recently he reached out letting me know he is offering on-line training and I didn't even blink. I was training with him the very next day! I am back with my favorite trainer to TRAIN the sport I love and get back into fighting shape. I have a ways to go but I honestly don't trust anyone else to help me get there the way I trust Dave. I feel like I lost a part of me when I left American Boxing and I now have a second chance to get it back!

He's a walking, talking ego. His behavior was rude, immature and actually quite irrational. Not sure why he would behave like that toward people who were going to be longtime members of his gym, but now that I've read some of the other reviews it doesn't surprise me at all. Don't waste your time even checking this place out. With an owner like that they'll be out of business soon anyway, and you can be sure there won't be any membership refunds when they do.
