Keogh's really do make the best muffins in town and for 2.10euro it's a real bargain considering their size. The pear and vanilla one is my favourite and I'm so glad I no longer work in town and get pulled into Keogh's every morning by the smell of cinnamon and coffee. My waistline couldn't handle it. I can't really comment on the service. The mornings are busy and they staff try to please everyone as quickly as they can cause most people are on their way to work. I never sat down for lunch or coffee here but it's always packed so I guess that's a good sign. read more

Best breakfast in Dublin! Everything is so fresh and the bread is to die for. Perfect poached eggs and friendly staff. I would suggest getting an oat milk latte as the foam stays through the whole drink! A disappointing 2 stars. I was lured here by a pear scone and I am a sucker for a good pear scone. The scones arrived and looked small and pityfull accompanied by the smallest portion of jam that I have ever seen which was served in a timble sized paper thingy. Very little pear in the scone which was dense and not very nice. The scone then lodged in my gut for the next 3 hours. The coffee was very good but failed to wash it down. Perhaps I picked the wrong thing but with so many places to choose from I doubt I would go back. read more

The morning I arrived in Dublin, I hunted all over the city centre for a cafe type place that would serve a good cup of coffee with a baked pastry and to my initial delight I stumbled upon Keogh's Cafe. I was thrilled to see that they were noted for their homemade scones and with a gazillion scone flavors to choose from, I thought I had hit the jackpot. BIG MISTAKE!!!! If I could give this place zero stars I would. First, the person who took my order was extremely rude and I'm normally an easy going customer, especially when I am on holiday (and I was), but this lady was out of this world rude. She not only rolled her eyes a few times but even let out a few grunts as if I had done something personally wrong to her. I had asked for water twice and she ignored me on both occasions and when I finally tasted the food, it sealed the deal, this place was officially one of the worst place eaten at in a very long time. My mother's eggs were so salty that there were inedible. My scone, like another Yelper had commented, was dry and tasteless. I was so disappointed because it looked like it had a great crust and was good sized. At the end of our lackluster meal, the eggs went untouched and I only managed to eat a few bites of the scone and the toast off the egg platter. I'm truly surprised because all my remaining meals in Dublin were excellent and the locals were so friendly and nice. I've been meaning to write this for a while but life - you know - it just keeps happening. Anyways. I worked across from Keogh's for four years. I'm not overwhelmed by their sandwiches / salads / soups / coffees / etc. I find them all to be uncompromisingly mediocre. However, their muffins. Ohhhh, their muffins. Their muffins are good. That said - I'm not really into muffins. I'm an American and thus, prefer my breakfast starch in bagel or pancake form. But my partner loves muffins. Keoghs muffins, specifically. So one afternoon, being the thoughtful girlfriend that I am, I decided to surprise my partner with a delicious Keoghs muffin. I went in, ordered one blueberry coconut muffin, and to my absolute DELIGHT, the kind man behind the counter said "would you like a free scone with that?" .... Excuse me? A free scone?! Does that happen in this world? Do people really give away free scones? For nothing? He was not joking. He was staring back at me with kind, sincere eyes. He was truly offering me a free scone - presumably because it was late in the day and he was going to have to toss them in the bin at the end of his shift. Whatever. The point is - my day was made by this act of kindness. My faith in humanity bolstered. I thanked him profusely and ran into the street shouting 'Free Scones! By George! Free scones!" I didn't do that. But I did say "I am so pleasantly surprised by that act of kindness that I am going to leave a positive Yelp review" - So here we are. Truly great muffins. My wife and I walked by this place a couple of times and it always had a line coming out the door, this peaked our attention. We soon discovered it doesn't take much to creat a line out the door, very close quarters. If it was larger I would rate 4 stars. A very strong 3 stars for the best tasting blueberry and coconut muffin I have ever had, my wife had the raspberry scone and both treats were loaded with fruit and a lot of flavor. We sat outside due to the small crowd inside. My recommendation is stop in here for a treat! We will be going back later today so we can have a treat in the morning with our coffee at our hotel. read more

I recently got the creamy chicken pasta priced at €6.95. Very reasonably priced and a lot tastier than I imagined. A nice quick meal for the person trying to squeeze in a quick lunch. More seating would be a plus but take away coffee is a big part of the business judging by the customers that were in the same time as me. Defiantly be back. read more

I met up with a friend today and we went for coffee and muffins at Kehoe's, which is a great little spot for coffee just around the corner from Trinity College. It tends to be pretty busy around lunchtime but if you drop by after 2pm you can usually get a nice table. The lovely Italian lad behind the counter makes a great coffee and both the Raspberry and white chocolate and the Orange and Carrot muffins are yummy and a fiver for a coffee and a muffin is pretty decent as well. They also make sandwiches and soups. There is a few tables outside and in summer they're great for people-watching but in winter you might want to sit inside and away from the windows, as they're quite draughty. read more

Saved us on our first hunt for a later -ish breakfast in Dublin. So many places to choose from but where would we find good food and not be on the clock for "breakfast severed till ---". With a sweet and laid back atmosphere we could enjoy our wonderfully cooked eggs, my favorite breakfast sausages I've tried yet, and those little steamed tomatoes I've been looking forward to with breakfast- everything on the Irish breakfast plate was DEelish! We got the full Irish breakfast to share and it was a perfect amount to let you keep strolling through the pretty streets without feeling so full. :) They had wi-if and happily helped us with the password, was one of the few places we could get our phones to work so looking up "what's next" was fun. Wish we had more breakfasts and lunches to try other things on the menu, anyhow breakfast being one of my favorite foods at anytime of the day, would happily suggest this little gem to anyone to pop into for a nice little brake in the day,,, sandwich break, coffee break, anything with a smile brake :) read more

We used to take coffees to go and the delicious fresh sliders at the little store front at Dame Street. What a surprise to discover they have a whole coffee shop in the back at Trinity Street. We had Bacon and Mushroom quiche, and it was probably the most delicious quiche I had in a lifetime. Also, I asked if they had onions in it (cause I have onion allergy) and instead of the usual "I don't know" I get from waiters, the attendant kindly called the kitchen to check that for me. Banana and Walnut muffin was absolutely heavenly. All that added to a lovely service. Probably our favorite place in the city center! read more

Keogh's is a kind of institution for Dubliners because I guess they were the first place to do scones that were "a bit exotic" such as raspberry and pear and not the type of scones that your granny gave you. It's always busy and I've got to hand it to them, the scones are good. But that's pretty much all I'd go here for. I visited today with three friends, the queue was large and slow moving due to people being indecisive but it's Friday afternoon so I wasn't in a rush. I went for a scone, one friend had a muffin, the other cheesecake and the the final one had a cream slice kinda thing. What baffled me was that my friend was given a tea cup full of cream with her cream cake and I was given a horrible paper sauce cup with jam in it and no cream! Scones with jam and cream are a thing, right? Far more than a cream cake with a side order of cream. The cream cake and the cheesecake were disappointing for my co-diners. Soggy bottoms all the way. The scone and muffin were good, so stick to them when you hit up Keoghs. It's always busy and you don't have a lot of space so prepare to be bumped while you eat. Keogh's Cafe is located just off of the bustling Dame St. Serving coffees, teas, and a wide variety of lunch specialties from fajitas to salads, it's a small and reasonably priced cafe worth visiting. If you're in a rush, they even have a convenient window open to the street for take-away orders. The tables are arranged a bit haphazardly in the small cafe, but it adds to the atmosphere and makes it seem more lively: hearing the dull buzz of a distant espresso machine or the surrounding chatter of people having lunch adds to Keogh's personality. If you're really hungry, try the delicious creamy chicken pasta! If not, at least snack on one of the many pastries or enjoy a latte as you sit and watch the Dubliners stroll by. read more

I'm rating Keoghs four stars based mostly on my being a regular customer in the mornings: I just pop in to pick up a scone and white coffee before work, all for just 3.60 euro. (It's an extra 20 cents if you want butter with your scone). The coffee tastes all right to me, the staff is pleasant enough, the service is fast in the mornings (as there is usually a queue), and the scones - oh, the scones - are to die for. I've been there just after 7am and picked up a raspberry scone still warm from the oven. They have scones in other "flavour" combinations: mixed berry (my favourite), pear and vanilla, apple and walnut, strawberry, and a couple more. I've been there in the evenings to get a bite with a friend before we've headed off elsewhere. The food was delicious, and a couple of times I received a choice of two salads to go with my main food item - great value for money for plenty to eat! Keogh's is small, though, so depending on the time of day, it may be tough to find a seat and can get cramped. read more

I'm encouraged by the rest of the reviews to go back here and try the sweeter stuff, because the lunch I had was nothing to write home about. I had the marinaded chicken ciabatta which was decent, if quite greasy. It came with a small side salad which seemed a little less than fresh-- or perhaps just needed a nice dressing! The staff are lovely though when I arrived there was just one girl and she was swept off her feet so the place was full of tables which hadn't been cleaned. Not her fault of course. The outside seating is really lovely and unfortunately had been snagged just as I arrived. I had a coffee too which was grand, but I'll be back for those muffins. read more

This is my Saturday morning place on route to class. I really like the coffee and I was addicted to the orange and chocolate muffins, had to give them up! The selection of food calling me through the glass always looks yummy, you can do health if the treats are off your menu. This is one of the few places open on Sunday early (other than Starbucks and McDonald's and that says enough!). The scones and muffins are large. I got a mixed berry scone, which was studded with fresh and plump berries. It's 2.60 euros and they give you a little paper cup of raspberry jam and two pats of butter. The scone is a bit on the dry side - not nearly as sumptuous as the Kilkenny Cafe's, but nothing a good slathering of butter couldn't fix. I agree with all the other reviewers. Do not expect great service or even a smile from the staff. I had the full Irish breakfast in here and while it was very homely, not necessarily a bad thing, it was quite satisfactory. It was nothing to write home about though. I had a fresh orange juice with my breakfast which was delicious but could have benefited from being colder. The seating conditions were indeed cramped and I found it quite dark inside, which was strange. Ultimately I enjoyed my experience here but am not sure if I would return. read more

While in Dublin me and a group of friends stopped by Keogh's for lunch and coffee/tea. The staff was super amazing and extremely welcoming. They helped us move some tables together to accommodate all five of us. They also made sure we had exactly what we wanted and needed. On top of the great costumer service the food and drinks were exceptional! I wish I lived in Dublin just get their food more often! What drew me into Keogh's the first time was the smell of fresh coffee and cakes as I walked past. It is a nice little place but all I've ever had from here was a cappuccino and a muffin which, to be fair, were nice enough. It is a bit cramped, especially at the counter and I have often found people squeezing past me - and I don't take up that much space! This place gets extremely busy and it is quite small. I definitely think there is a demand for larger cafes. I think next time I should try going to Starbucks. read more

In hindsight and having read over the other reviews I should have gotten a scone or a muffin because they did look pretty good but it was lunchtime and I was starving so I went for something more substantial and got a chicken ,cheese and pesto wrap. The wrap itself was only okay nothing to write home about but what really disappointed me was the side 'salad' and chips that came with it. The salad was just a few lettuce leaves and a bit of a tomato and the chips were what I'd expect in a bog standard run of the mill cafe, The coffee was fine but as other reviewers have pointed out service was only okay and I know this is a weird gripe but I really hated the chairs , they were those terrible rickety wooden ones that just aren't comfortable to sit on . I would go back to get a takeaway scone or muffin but definitely wouldn't be getting a wrap again any time soon. read more

This is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or Cake time! I've had they porridge with almond and it was delicious and a huge portion, too much for me to eat and the omlette is delicious. Their chocolate cake is to die for. Recommended to anyone looking for a good bite to eat. Don't be put off if the queue is out the door, they are super efficient. read more
