Standard fried sobering up type food. My friend and I stopped here after attending the Hudson wine festival and their bar food did the trick. We sat on the slab of concrete patio that mostly overlooks a parking lot. Had the battered mushrooms and garbage burger: American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, ketchup, mustard and relish. Just your average restaurant/bar. read more

What is going on with the new ownership? We're so disappointed with the food quality and service from owner and manager. We had a large group and called ahead to see if they could accommodate 6 adults and 7 kids. They said yes, they could put tables together. They put 2 tables together and packed in 13 chairs with no elbow room. The chairs were right next to each other. Right away the manager told us we could not move a chair to the head of the table because it would block the flow. Thankfully a long term employee used common sense and found a different configuration. There was a long wait for drinks, but with a large group that's not unheard of. Two of the 6 of us ordering beers received the wrong ones. I asked for Bubbles and received Kentucky Bourbon. The manager assured me I ordered Kentucky Bourbon. Nope, he made a mistake. He also argued with another member of our party who received the wrong beer. The food was delivered at staggered intervals of a couple orders at a time. Again, large group, I get it. But a gap of 15 minutes from first to last meal is too long. My hot sandwich and fries were served on a cold plate. Not room temperature; cold. I pointed it out immediately before the server left the table and asked for a redo. He brought it back 10 minutes later on a room temperature plate. It was the same food, I could tell from the broken, dry bun. So of course my food was cold. The burgers lacked seasoning, the fish and chips were so soggy. The wings weren't crisp. It's a huge departure from the old Kepner's, and not in a good way. Big disappointment for food and service. They still have a good selection of beer, and I hope they've kept long term employees. This had been our Sunday place to watch football but we haven't returned since the season ended. read more

Got to meet someone who said they were the owner in the wrong circumstance. Unfortunately he was less concerned with additional customers as he was with what appeared to be a young friend who possibly had too much to drink/say. Service was ok thru the evening than tailored off when a different person behind the bar told everyone at our table to get the f out in an expletive fashion. Went to Kep's this past week for dinner out on the patio. I was very disappointed in the quality of the burger meat. It had no flavor and the consistency of food service type ground beef, not the real ground beef that they used to serve here. I also think the onion rings are a frozen food service offering as opposed to freshly made like they used to be. And to top it all off prices have gone up quite a bit probably due to coronavirus premium but 15 bucks for a food service hamburger - no thanks. I'll continue to visit for a beer but will no longer order food here. read more

I am sorry to report new owners have not brought improvements that you would expect in locals taking over a local dive. No changes other than stringy pours on liqour and food quality downgrades. Used to bw go to for local bar food but xtra crispy wings to go are pink inside and soggy. I am way over infatuation with nostalgia of Kepners. Will always opt for Lager and Vine and Oak and Embers going forward. Also, bourbon choices were weak. Walk down to FlipSide or One Red Door. Ordered a well done cheeseburger tonight at Kepner's, and it wasn't even close. I'm estimating this was medium rare, so I sent it back. The cook/server decided they just wanted my burger back and brought a separate plate to deliver the burger back to the kitchen and leave me with the fries. Strike 2! I asked for the menu so I could order something other than the burger and decided not to eat. I ended up going to another diner and Johnny the chef knew how to cook a well done, delicious burger! read more

this place i NEED to get back to. has delicious burgers and wings...they used to carry one of my favorite beers, Kentucky bourbon ale.

They are lucky they are the only bar open past midnight downtown because that's the only good thing about this bar. The food is overpriced and most importantly the servers and bartenders suck. Multiple times have I gone with a friend who are 22 and the bartenders have destroyed their real ID. Never am I going back to Kepners again! read more

Recently my husband and went in and the service was terrible. Waited almost a 1/2 hour to get refills on our drinks and our food came out cold. The employees stand around and talk to each other instead of making sure their customers need anything. I used to love coming in here. Not a fan of the new menu or the way this establishment is being ran. read more

From the moment I stepped into Kepner's, the service from a waitress named Jess was terrible. I am from the east coast and in town visiting a friend so we decided to get drinks. Immediately she asked for our ID's (as expected), but then came back and slapped them on to our table saying she could only take the Ohio ID and abruptly walked away. My ID is real and I never had any problem using it at any restaurant or bar I have ever been to since being 21, even since I've been here in Hudson. I politely asked her why she could not accept my ID and she told me it was fake because she lived in my state once and the ID I gave her apparently did not look like the ID's from when she lived in the same state as me. I turned 21 this past June. My state updated their licenses last year. When I got back I read other reviews and noticed I wasn't the only person this happened to with the same server. These servers/waitresses need to learn how to read real ID's. Kepner's will never be getting my service again. read more

The following review is an opinion. This is possible the worst place in Hudson. My significant other contracted food poisoning. We called not to complain but to let the establishment know, and who ever was in charge, never called us back. The staff was rude, there was people smoking at the bar, and the place stunk. read more

Terrible experience! Corned beef sandwiches were disgusted...grilled bread soaked in grease, covered with something cheese like, a tiny amount of sauerkraut, meat very difficult to chew - nightmare sandwich. Please stay away! read more

Great place, probably my favorite in Hudson from a bar perspective. Selection of beers always solid and priced right. Wings are great as is the rest of the food. Fun atmosphere and great place to go watch some sporting events, lots of TVs. New ownership which is a positive, the place will only get better. read more

What a unique place in the heart of Hudson. A little different than the rest, but a perfect,friendly atmosphere. The staff, including the owner, made us feel like part of the family from the moment we walked in. Couldn't help but think of Cheers...everyone seemed to know each other. So happy it's doing well. Lately, Kep's has def been upping their game. Fun little spot in Hudson. Geeks who Drink trivia night every Tuesday at 8:00 is tons of fun. They've been bringing in fun bands on the patio on the weekends. It was actually crowded and hopping at 11pm last Saturday - first time I've seen that anywhere in Hudson in the decade I've lived here. Good selection of beers. Kep's is not a 4 star restaurant, but it is a 5 star pub. Burgers are massive and delicious, great selection of hearty wings (not like the tiny things they serve at national chains). They also have 20 drafts on tap, with several great IPA's and a couple seasonal brews. The layout is 2-tiered separating bar from tables, so it's a real pub where families can bring children. read more

The bartender is a thief and liar. They have a advertisement sign on the sidewalk Ladies Drink free. I assumed it was a play on words to get Customers so me and my 2 lady friends walked in and asked the bartender what was the sign about. Jake the bartender said you buy the glass on your first drink and you refill it for free. So we grabbed a beer one friend had a pop and went to the patio. My one friend went in to get her refill and since the refill was free I said I would have another. Later to find out he charge her for the refills. When I asked why he charge he said it was a joke. I didn't mind if that was told to us when. We asked but I do not like being bluntly lied too and then finding out we were laughed at because he "got" us. I was disgusted and immediately left. Ok, I get it. This a bar 1st, and a restaurant as a far 2nd. But you've got have passable pub fare like nachos. Ours arrived stone cold w the cheese barely melted (it was like shredded cheese from the bag sprinkled over chips without heating them). Sent back and they came back semi melted and Luke warm. The "cheese" turned out to be velveta. Awful. The signature "garbage burger" was devoid of flavor even w the multiple toppings. A tavern should be able to pull off a burger. Stooped in for one beer last night. Bartenders ignore you. Watched one bartender grab three glasses and put his fingers inside all the glasses as he moved them near the ice machine and proceeded to make three drinks. I wonder if those drinks tasted like his fingers? Absolutely mismanaged. Who ever owns the place should sell it to someone that has a clue about who to put behind a bar. Kepner's Tavern is an extremely affordable restaurant in Hudson. Kepner's can keep up with the prices of another local favorite Chipotle. Kepner's has a certain decor of a dive bar. Might I add one of the only true bars in Hudson. Food at Kepner's is slightly greasy but the buns on the burgers do not get soggy because they are pretzel buns. Customizable burgers make this restaurant unique and the extensive sides really make a great meal. The place is rarely filled and you can almost always get a seat. The restaurant has a lot of history and you can certainly feel it when you walk in with the ambiance. The only problem is students from the prep school close by frequent the bar. read more
