If you're looking for the BEST headshot in town you got the right photographer. Keren is an amazing, passionate, extremely professional and creative photographer. I took few family photoshoot with kids which is almost impossible mission. We end up having a beautiful studio photos I have framed at my family room. I also went for my 37th birthday and got a Photoshoot gift for myself. I had no idea what to do and what to wear or even how to look at the Camera but Keren knew how to " loosen" myself and melt into this whole fun thing of looking, smiling, posing and feeling myself because I never felt comfortable looking at a camera before . Nothing makes me more upset than when someone tries to take advantage of actors that they think don't know any better. And that happens A LOT in this business. If you want to be able to print out your headshots, do NOT do business with Keren. Here was the agreement: A headshot session for 3 looks, with retouching ($350.) She emailed me the web version of my shots that I had selected (1.4MB) and I never even received the larger files for high res printing. So I email her and tell her that the file is too small and is not useable to be printed as an 8x10 headshot. She says she didn't know that I needed to print them (WHAT??? What else do you even do with headshots?) I start getting really upset and after twisting her arm (Did I mention that I paid her cash IN FULL, so it's not like I owe her money or anything...) she agrees to send me a larger file. She sends a 2.4 (still too small- they should be around 6MB) Also, she says that I'm lucky she even retouched them and that most photographers won't do that. Ummm, if you go to her website (http://www.kerenbenamiphotography.com/#!rates/ctya) she includes retouched images as part of her headshot package. I mean the whole idea of a headshot shoot is to be able to submit to roles, give PHYSICAL copies to your agent, and also to casting directors when you enter the room. Am I crazy??? THE KICKER: Then she offers to print them herself. She says she has never had this trouble before and that she can print them for me, at an additional cost. ON CANVAS I MIGHT ADD! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH THAT??? (See photos.) So now I'm out the money that I had saved up for this shoot and I don't even have one shoddy shot to use. My shoot was on April 9. It is now May 25 and I STILL don't have the high res version of my pictures. I asked her for a refund and she dragged out our conversation for 2 weeks, even dragging Argentum photo lab into the mix. She sent emails threatening to slander me in the industry. I am not even kidding. (See photos.) Lady, I just want my money back. BOTTOM LINE: I paid her for her service and cannot use the finished product. She does the "bait and switch" on her website- technically, it does NOT say that you will receive the high res version for printing, but in LA, that is what headshots are used for and it is implied that that would be included in any standard headshot package. Keren is a fantastic photographer. So much of shooting is about making the subject relax so that he or she is comfortable, and Keren is extremely adept at making that happen. Incredibly patient, she took her time with the first look so that she could get a better sense of my POV, while I got a better sense of her direction--overall that patience on the front end made the rest of the session go smoothly. Once she settled in on some really good shots, she would share them with me so that I had a better idea of what we were working towards. Finally, her set up is great--makeup dude from Arkansas was cool, easy going and professional, lighting was solid, and we used multiple locations nearby her studio. I came to Keren a little nervous, but after reading many rave reviews about her I felt I had made the right choice. She did not disappoint! Keren quickly relaxed my bundle of nerves from the beginning with an iced coffee and some reassuring words that made me realize this was not going to be a rushed shoot. Her make up artist was very talented and very skilled at "natural" makeup. She made me feel very comfortable and kept touching base with me to make sure I felt good about the makeup. I usually hate headshot sessions but Keren knew exactly how to get me to relax and get interesting expressions out of me.
