In the summertime this area is booming. There's a nice open picnic area, a large pavilion, and a smaller pavilion with large built-in grill. Obviously the biggest attraction in the park is the lake. Initially we were following an online map, but we stopped at the park office to grab a paper copy for easier navigating. The park office is definitely not what I expected - it was a bit neglected, and nobody was there. I was hoping there'd be someone to talk to! Maybe they're just not in on Sundays. So off we went with our paper map! Lots of beautiful buildings - we really enjoyed the cobblestone house. Tree lined paths. Parking lots placed in convenient places. There was a cute little playground by the largest pond, and my daughter really enjoyed the abundance of lily pads. We were already feeling exhausted due to the heat by the time we found a trail entrance, but the trail itself was nice. There were teal colored trail markers nailed to the trees along the way, although the path itself was pretty straightforward until the turnaround. According to the map it should have circled back but there was a sign there for private property, so we hiked back the way we came instead. They had some absolutely gorgeous looking shelters. I'm not sure what the price point is, but it would be a great place for gatherings. Beautiful and peaceful, even if a little bit confusing our first time there. We will definitely be going back again (on a cooler day) to explore some more!

I had yet…read moreagain not done any research prior to arriving, so just started driving around the park, looking for a good spot to start our exploring. I parked where it said "daffodil meadow" since that sounded pretty sweet, and we ventured on into the woods. I had no idea it would be such a lovely hike alongside the Irondequoit Creek. We headed the wrong way on the red trail (I think?) and ended up intersecting with a few different trails along the way. The mud was minimal and there were very few other people on the trail the Friday I was there. With a few folks fishing along our hike, Freddy got some great people watching and chipmunk chasing in. I know now that there's a very popular fish hatchery. I didn't know what the situation would be with that during all things COVID, so we kept it simple and made a swift exit right after our sweaty hike. THis park is lush and gorgeous and provides a TON of magnificent views. Happy hiking!

This is the finger lake that nobody knows about. It's only 8 miles long, and yet even Eminem has (probably) never been here. Even when his palms were sweaty and he had vomit on his sweater already (Mom's Spaghetti). It's the furthest of the finger lakes, there are 10 others to the North and East.

Boating, jet skis, kayaking, paddle board, or just soaking up the sun. Bring your own there is no place to rent. If you're lucky you might find some lake glass. My dog and I came here for a walk today (Memorial Day) and the place was almost empty! It's not a huge park, but it's clean and well maintained. There's a small boat launch / marina area, plenty of walkable beach, a playground, picnic tables sporadically placed throughout the park, a pavilion, and restrooms. There's a nicely sized parking area as well. Also, since it's a NYS Park, it's part of the Empire Pass program... so with one of the passes, you'll get in at no additional cost (otherwise, it's $7 per car). TL;DR I'd recommend this park, but honestly... I want it all to myself. So stay out. ;-)
