My new best friends. They are so patient and helpful. They worked with me on a car rack, helping me to install it and answer all of my questions as though I was the only person in the store. My son bought a bike at a thrift shop and they worked with him to teach him how to repair it himself. They set him up with the right parts, directed him to videos in case he forgot, and patiently answered all of his questions and we had a lot. He even offered to look at pictures my son sent him of wheels so he could advise him if they would fit. We are new to bikes and biking and they could have really gotten over on us, but they didn't. I have been a long time customer of Keswick. I bought my current bike, a Specialized Roubaix back in 2007. The bike has continued to exceed expectations and in fact the odometer has almost 40,000 (yes forty thousand) miles on it. Part of the reason I have been so satisfied with the bike, is the regular service (2-3 times a year) that I have had from their great service department in Glenside. I think I found a new favorite bike shop! I was looking for a specific style of bike: a light, commuter style step-thru for under $1000 (so not a heavy, expensive, real Dutch bike, but similar in style). I did a ton of research and came up with a list of just over a dozen bikes I thought could fit the bill, and moved on to figuring out test rides. Well, Keswick kept coming up as a dealer of most of the bikes I was looking at. I tried an Electra townie at the Glenside location, and the next day I went to the University City location to try a Linus Dutchi (which they didn't have built in Glenside, but would have ordered/built for me if I wanted it, since I live in MontCo and the sales tax is cheaper!). Ironically, the same sales guy was at both stores and remembered me right away when I showed up at UC. I loved both bikes, but went to go test a few more. I'm actually really sad I didn't end up buying from them - I bought a Public C7i which is only sold at one retailer in the entire city of Philadelphia. I chose it for several reasons and literally my only regret was not being able to give Keswick my business. However, my husband has now discovered a bike shop to use to fix up his vintage Schwinn road bike, and I plan on bringing in my Public for tune ups here in the future! read more

Keswick Cycle is a real cyclist's shop. Not only do they stock an excellent selection of equipment and accessories, but the full gamut of bikes... from 12 inch kids' bikes to carbon fiber purebred racing machines, and most things in between. The staff is among the most consistently knowledgable ones I've experienced in the area. I've been to two of their three shops; I'm not sure which I like better. During the past week, one of the sales guys named Mark worked with me in finding a new bike. He bent over backwards making sure that I was getting what was perfectly suited to me. Jim, the manager, made sure that the size and fit worked perfectly for me. They'd rather lose a sale than sell you a bike that doesn't fit properly. They back up their sales with one of the best service departments in the area. I'm really a service oriented customer. I'll drive well out of my area if I believe that I'm getting the best service from that merchant. Keswick Cycle is one of those merchants. To prove my point, I drove almost an hour to get there when it was time to test ride my new bike. The reason I did that was just to meet the people who had helped me so much. read more

Can't say enough good stuff about Keswick. I've been looking for a LBS I felt comfortable with. There are many around and I've been to most. Some I want to like but haven't made a good connection with the staff. Not that they were bad, but they just didn't click with my interests. I'm not always in the market for something but I am always window shopping. When I'm close, I'll pull the trigger on something and I want to believe it was the right choice. I recently did that with a fitting and a set of power meters. I met Steve last week. He has a great outlook on the sport and offered sound advise. I ordered a set of Garmin power meters. He came in on his day off and got them installed, set up and conducted a great fitting session for me. I also met Lee , one of their mechanics. Probably the first person including me who didn't drop screws or tools every time he touched them. He also was one of the first mechanics I've worked with who used a torque wrench on all the critical components. To me, if the manufacturer writes a torque spec right next to a bolt hole it is probably important. Not only is it the right thing to do but it shows respect to mind the paint job and do even the small things correctly. Steve made sure to remind me to update my computer's software so the power meters would register correctly, which they did. He also made sure the pedals were updated before I came in. They checked out my bike and adjusted a couple things that needed adjusting including the ever squirrelly front derailleur. Thanks guys. It was worth the drive. I think my days of online shopping for bike stuff are finally over. read more

The staff was extremely helpful and patient with my lack of knowledge on bikes. I've been back two or three times since the purchase for some accessories and / or just to chat. Keswick cycle helped me purchase my first bike shop in years. They were recommended by a friend so I decided to go up and check it out. After a few minutes walking around the store, someone came and helped me out - I explained my budget, what I was looking for, and they showed me options that fit both the parameters. I ended up purchasing a bike and the service plan, which was $69.99 for 3 years - it's a deal considering that most service is that each time you go. Keswick Bike is quite frankly the best cycling experience for the mid to high end biker. I am a mountain biker so I can only comment on this side of the house, but friends have had similarly phenomenal experiences on the road side (and for Tri). A few points to underscore this isnt just lip service: - They built a bike for me with no committment, to make sure it fit. - They do pick up and drop off service - They sized me perfectly - something that no other shop had ever done, I ride more than ever because of it (and I'm faster, say my friends, who I pay) - They have most things in stock as opposed to having to order them - They are the perfect blend of large shop volume and small shop service. - They gave me a loaner when my bike had a problem (out of their control) - They are responsive - they remind me of a Mercedes dealership (that sells more than high end) I love other shops too (e.g.: Bicycle Revolutions on 4th and Bainbridge is my favorite commuter, townie, cross and quirk shop on earth and I spend plenty in there too) but when it comes to having the full array right in front of you for the enthusiast (though I did also get a like a bike for my 3 year old there too) this place is nothing short of the best shop experience. The only drawback is that they are not in center city (yet). read more

Love this bike shop! My daughter was ready for her next bike and we weren't sure what to put her on. She technically was ready for the 24" bike which is the largest of kids' bikes. That would have been a slam dunk for a bike shop because it fit her perfectly and we would have been back in a year. But, the staff at Keswick suggested we also consider the next size up which is the XS adult bike! Never would have thought of that yet really it was a much better choice because she will be in that bike longer. We were very torn (and so was our daughter) so we spent a ton of time there and they were very patient and helpful. They let her test drive both bikes until she had made up her mind (which was no small feat for a 10 yr old girl). We ended up with the XS adult and won't be needing bike for another 2-3 years now. They could have pushed the smaller bike to get another sale sooner but they weren't even remotely pushing that and they were so incredibly helpful and sweet with our daughter. They were amazing! The prices are great, the selection is fabulous and the staff is fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend Keswick! PS - I bought my adult bike there 2 years ago and my experience was just as positive. The owner knew I loved a girly color but the bike I wanted wasn't as high quality as I wanted. So, he suggested I buy the less expensive frame and built me a custom bike that was just what I was looking for. Again, fabulous experience. Great bike shop! read more

I shopped this store and was impressed. Staff was nice and helpful and let me test ride a bike. I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything here and in some ways regret not doing so, because its very convenient, but I just didn't find the bike I wanted in my price range sadly. I know a guy who is a competitive racer and he swears by the store and he would know way better than I would. Brandon was great; he's the one who helped me purchase my new specialized road bike a few years ago. I'd give Brandon 5 stars, but that Mike guy, made me adjust my rating. I bought a set of mavic kyserium rims here. Again Brandon helped me out, but his manager Mike was VERY unfriendly. After purchasing the set of rims, I had them installed. When the bike mechanic brought my bike out, I was so happy that my bike looked really good. i wanted to shake Brandon's hand or something since he was the one who recommended them to me when I asked him about upgrading my bike. I guess he was busy taking care of another customer, so when my bike was brought out, only Mike was there. He just looked at me and said, "so what are you waiting around for?" WOW! Talk about an energy changer. I'm not white and he gave me that white man racist look that only non-white people know what I'm talking about. The level of my excitement went from total elation to oh just give me back my old rims and I'll get out of here. Oh, by the way, I just shelled out almost $1,000 for these. Dave took the time to listen to me (on a VERY busy day for the store) and suggest a great bike for my purposes. This is my local go-to cycling shop and I love it. I use them for services, parts and accessories. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They almost always have what I'm looking for and if not, they order it for me making sure I get it quick. These guys also do some awesome group rides during the week and being someone who is not native to this area, it's been a big help it helping me explore the area on my bike. I went into Keswick Cycles almost two weeks ago with an interest in buying my first bike (as an adult). I knew nothing about the current technology, or even what type of bike I wanted. I first worked with Dave who took the time to explain everything I needed to know and I left that day a lot more knowledgeable to consider my options. I went back a few days later and worked this time with Parker. He helped me narrow down my options to a few bike which I then was able to test drive. I ended up purchasing a really great mountain bike which I have ridden a lot since then. Fast forward to this weekend. I got my first flat tire and had occasion to make use of their amazingly helpful mechanics. Luke took great care of my bike and took the time to show me how to perform some basic maintenance myself. I also ended up purchasing some accessories for my bike and even a bike rack for my car. The manager Tom came out back and showed me how to connect the bike rack to my car and how to load my bike onto it. I can't say enough about this place. I now have a new hobby that my kids and I enjoy together and Keswick Cycles has a customer for life. read more

I took my daughter to Keswick Cycle in Glenside hoping to buy her a new bike for her birthday. She is a new teen and has outgrown her bike. I chose Keswick because of the high ratings on Yelp and on their website they show photos that that they have a large selection of bikes. I was hoping to look at some bikes, test drive some and walk out with a bike in the $400 range. We were very disappointed! The guy that came over to us seemed disinterested in selling us a bike, he would not even let my daughter test ride any. I felt like they sized us up and decided that we were not going to buy a $1300 bike and did not want to waste their time. It's not like they were busy. Perhaps they don't need the business. We left there very unhappy and drive 2 miles to another bike store and purchased a beautiful bike for less that what I expected, and has personal service from someone who wanted our business. Normally I would not bother writing a review but after all the glowing praises here I am wondering if we are talking about the same place. read more

This place is great. Just went in to have a new bike assembled as I have just started cycling. Also went to get a bike rack. Prices quoted were reasonable and they finished my bike early. They were very nice and did not act judgey because I don't really know anything. They seem to be passionate about bikes and want other people to enjoy it as well. I have zero complaints. read more

This is my third purchase from Keswick Cycle-- the first probably 15-20 years ago In Glenside, then a kids' bike in West Philly, and today again in Glenside a full-size hybrid for my daughter. Toby, who helped us, was responsive and thoughtful and had a great manner with my daughter, who had a million questions and bopped around the store looking for helmets and squeezing horns and dinging bells. My parents purchased my first bike for me here and I've been coming back for over 20 years. The service and knowledgeable staff is unparalleled. They also carry an impressive array of accessories including helmets, tire pumps, and car racks. The on-site workshop means that the mechanics will have your bike tuned-up and back to you within a week or two depending on the season. The Glenside location also has plenty of space for you to take a test ride without having to worry about colliding with pedestrians or cars. read more

Used to be a good shop, but now full of twenty-something slackers who don't care about you or your bike. Totally screwed up my repair job, and acted like it was my fault when I questioned it (politely at first). Gave me bad advice on tires, tubes, and helmets also. Would not go there again under any circumstances. Also prices on new bikes are higher than most other local shops. read more

Be careful if you decide to demo a mountain bike from this place. After paying $68 bucks to demo a bike for the day I got a flat on my demo ride (they don't provide a tool kit). When I brought it back the bike they not only charged my $16 bucks for a tube, but also hit me up with a $20 CLEANING FEE!! A cleaning fee for a mountain bike demo? What do they think you'll be doing with these things? The bike was normal dirty after a ride and of course I didn't have anywhere to hose it down. So, all in over 100 bucks to demo a Specialized Epic 29er. That's not even mentioning the fact that when I called the guy on the phone told me it was a carbon bike...but of course it turned out to be aluminum. Guess I won't feel so bad buying this for a discount online. read more

Keswick Cycle is a great shop. I have purchased 2 bikes here (1 road, 1 mountain) and am completely satisfied with both. Steve helped me with both of these purchases as well as some maintenance that I needed. Additionally, Steve went above and beyond with helping me on a warranty issue. Not only was the employees attitude the worst, he took his mood out on my bike by slamming it into the repair table, ripping the tube out and the tire went flat again the next day. I guess because we were not professional bikers we were not treated as valued customers. It was even more disappointing because when we went camping i attached my sons trailer to the bike to take him for a ride and that is when i found out the tire was flat. 18.00 later and a disappointed toddler this family will never shop or recommend this place.
