Needed help just wanted to bring in my sons bike for some expert advice that we didn't buy at their shop. but would have paid to have them look at and fix.... but they wouldn't even look at the bike. his gears won't shift and his brakes are rubbing and don't stop well thats not safe . but to not help people out who dont know about bikes or how to work on them , not cool , and we didn't want it done for free mind you . just help people out, the man who I spoke to wasn't a decent person or nice at all . who are we supposed to bring our bikes too if not a bike shop to get them fixed if we don't know about bikes . Great service and helpful information for new bike owners. Products were great and a variety and great pricing.

This used to be my go to bike shop. The service department was definitely a lifesaver during COVID lockdown. Over the past few years, I had very little confidence in the service department. A few times I took my bike elsewhere for second opinions only to find out that Keswick was recommending things that didn't need to be done right away AND prices are often higher. The one really great thing was that the store carried lots of brands, That's more since Specialized now owns the shop. read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews I'm the type that just won't go back. But I have to say I've been there before and the service wasn't to bad but today was really bad. I went in looking for lights for my bike I walk in they ask can I help you - I explain what I wanted and it was if he could be bothered with something so little - he pointed to the stand where they were I looked for a few moments and I asked if they had ones with the silicone strap to mount on my rails and he walked away. If you could just get a little service and help to make a sale and not come off as an arrogant DB it would go a long way. Hope someone ask around who it was so they could teach some customer service. Used to take bikes here for tune ups and even bought a very expensive bike here for my dad about 5 years ago as he loves to ride. But don't bother going here unless you buy your bike here. They won't even do a simple 5 min brake adjustment anymore for you. Funny thing is their University City location was very nice and said to bring the bike right in. Unfortunately I don't live near there so they said to go to Glenside. Well good thing we called first because they said no. We won't work on it. Just a brake adjustment, not looking for a rehaul or anything. So maybe try their other shops but stay away from Glenside. Sorry guys not everyone can afford your thousand dollar bikes all the time. Just bought my second bike from these guys, and I'm going to pick it up this weekend. I'm floored by the knowledge, expertise and integrity they have here. Truth is, most people don't really know what they're talking about when it comes to cycling, myself included. So it's great to have a staff that will actually tell you what's best for you, rather than just smile and nod while you make the wrong choices based off of misinformation you read on a blog ten years ago. Both bikes, so far, have been for my daughter. Based on the care and direction they've shown me and my daughter over the past four years on these relatively smaller purchases, I feel confident that I can trust Keswick Cycle to help me make the right choice when it's time for me to upgrade my own bike. Ordered a pair of Kenda road tires on the 15th of December. Before shipping the shop informed me the tire I ordered was not available and they could substitute with a tire that was nearly identical in appearance and quality. I agreed to that. Fast forward to January 15, still no tires, I email Keswick. They offered to refund me, allowed me to pick up tires in Paoli (not convenient for me), or just wait for the substituted tires to finally arrive. I ended up waiting because I didn't want to suffer the ride to Paoli in this weather on one of my few days off. The tires arrived 3 days ago on the 31st of January. The tires they sent me absolutely suck, and don't look anything like the Kenda tires, which is an issue for me. Kenda's aren't very good so my bar isn't very high but these tires are garbage and if the sales associate tried to sell me these in person I would have never agreed to it. Incredibly disappointed, my favorite bike has been out of commission for a long time on account of the wait I endured for these tires. P.S. as a response to the owner, these kenda's are 3 months old. I bought them in person from Bicycle Therapy, I like them. The EVO's you sent me still suck. read more

When Keswick makes a mistake or breaks and perhaps loses expensive cycling gear,they don't own up to it , they turn and blame customer. Took my bike in for service the other day. Always impressed with the friendliness of staff and the expertise/insight! Also nice to see the level of attention and care to maintaining social distancing and sanitation. The store has a great process in place for assisting customers one at a time, which not only maintains a safe environment, but was also incredibly helpful in providing the service I needed. They replaced my nite rider light band at no charge and gave my bike a much needed tune up. Phenomenal service and could not recommend more! read more

I had my bike partly disassembled (seat, pedals and front tire) to fit in my car for a cross-country trip. I paid a bike shop in Oregon $20 and they didn't want to take the money because it was so simple. Keswick Cycle took over a week to put it back together and charged $106. Keswick cycle is probably the most balanced local bike shop I've ever been too. Usually you either have ultra high end shops that give off a bad vibe, or lower end shops that don't carry good stuff or have knowledgeable people. Keswick is probably the best of both worlds. If you want an ultra high end wunderbike (Cervelo, S-works), they can do it. If you just want a basic but good mountain or road bike, Keswick can handle that as well. Every employee I've met is friendly, and as an added plus the shop is always playing good music. If you do buy a new bike from Keswick, get maintenance plan. Its too good of a deal to pass up. read more

This store is the *Definition* of "Friendly Local Bike Store" (FLBS). Prices are a bit high, but that's the cost of having a place to go! Bought a bike for my wife's birthday last year. Got upsold a bit, but it's a great bike. Got the 5y service plan (not cheap), and the wife doesn't ride much yet, so not great value, but it could've been. I went in recently looking for my first "real" bike as an adult (see: non-BMX) and after talking to a friendly sales dude for a bit, got to test ride a few bikes! Road bike felt twitchy to me. Hybrid seemed ugly and somehow shameful, so I looked at mountain bikes. Employee found a hardtail for me (from last year on discount), and it was a nice ride, but still very expensive (~$2k). Also I wasn't sure about the size, so they transferred another size from their other location with no deposit. Super cool of them. While waiting for that one to arrive, I learned about a work discount directly from a manufacturer. I explained and felt horrible for not supporting local business. They actually let me test-ride the second size bike anyway! These guys are top notch and clearly want to retain customers. (makes me feel like I won't be screwed over by them) With their sizing advice, I ordered a bike direct from manufacturer, and was able to assemble it myself at home (instead of bringing it in for $75-100 assembly) but couldn't get the shifting right. Shamefully, I brought the bike into the shop to visit the mechanics. Derailleur hanger got bent in shipping, and derailleur was installed incorrectly! $30 and I was all straightened out, with advice on lights and other accessories. I also bought a floor pump, but I'm having a hard time with it - I don't know what their return policy is, but I'm hoping I can at least exchange it for something more expensive... I don't expect the world from a small independent shop, just honesty, and fair price for fair service. It's in my best interest to maintain a good business relationship with them for those times my wrench skills aren't up to the task! I don't mind buying helmets and things like that locally instead of saving $ on Amazon, especially when I see it as a sort of tax for having a store! read more

Keswick is the best shop in the Philly area without a doubt. I went there back in 1998 as a know nothing who had ridden his college roommate's bike a couple times and remembered how much fun it was to be on a bike. Bought a Specialized Mountain Bike, and since then, I've picked up and gone through a Specialized Allez Road Bike, a Cannondale F4 Mountain Bike, and my current ride, a Cannonadale CAAD10 Road bike - I'm currently looking at a Cannondale Super Six, but the wife disapproves because there's nothing wrong with the CAAD10 (what does she know, anyway???). They've done plenty of repairs and maintenance on each bike, and everything has been perfect. I even took the bike repair class they offer every now and then. Two years ago I moved to Delaware County and now the University City Store is my LBS (despite many closer to home). The people who own this place care, the people who work on the sales floor know what they're talking about and don't try to sell you more than you want or need, and they always keep you in the loop for sales. The guys in the shop are experts - Keswick doesn't hire mechanics without serious experience. There's nothing bad to say about this shop. I've spent a lot of money there and regret none of it. If you're new to town and looking for a new bike shop, this is it. If your bike shop sucks (and not all of them in Philly do - there are other decent ones), go to Keswick. I went there as a beginner and they've supported my advancement in riding for almost 20 years. read more

Don't fall asleep reading your great reviews. Showed up Friday to buy a new bike. Was assigned a salesperson who is not full time and who admittedly had not worked there "in a while. " I stressed several times I was a beginner, not looking for a state-of-the-art bike. I was not planning to be a road racer, but someone looking for a entry level bike to generally ride bike paths, mostly flat. What the salesman pulls off the rack to show me was a complete Titanium model with complex gearing. Horrible failure or lack of interest in what I had just stressed at least two, maybe three times. Cost more than double I thought a good entry bike would cost. Finally got what I needed but was underwhelmed as a beginner.Unless you were as aggressive as I was to keep repeating my expectations, this visit could well have ended very badly for me. read more

I was in last week to buy a Specialized Turbo Vado 5 or 5-SL - The rep was friendly - he worked with me and said he would setup both for me for Saturday, as I needed a Large and only Smalls & Mediums were setup. I called 2 days later, on Friday and spoke with a woman and explained I was in a few day earlier & asked her if they could setup the 2 bikes so I could come down that afternoon to purchase. She refused. She said If I wanted a bike set up I needed to pay 50% Down (No small feat since these are $4500 Bikes). I explained that I was ready to buy but wasn't sure of which model. She again said they have mediums setup in the store and until they are sold, they are not setting up large frames, unless I put down 50%. I ended up not purchasing the bike. UPDATE: The owner, Brian, reached out to me and explained that the sales person I spoke with on the phone was just back from college and had not realized this was a temporary summer policy when bikes were in short supply due to Covid. I'm glad he reached out, because my first impression was that it was really nice shop based on my experience with the first bike technician I worked with.
