I wish I could say I was a success story :( Maybe I didn't give it enough of a try, but as Dr. Cressey explained prior to my treatment, I could have been one of those 5% that chiropractics doesn't really work for. I won't go into the details of my situation, but I am in a pretty frustrating and discouraging predicament. I came into Dr. Cressey's office hopeful from all his wonderful reviews. He squeezed me on Saturday last-minute to help me. I was always appreciative of how Dr. Cressey explained what he thought was going on. Dr. Cressey and the team and Smith Chiropractors are incredible. At the end of February, my back was feeling weird and achy and I went to lie down on my bed. I went to get up and then felt such a sharp pain that I immediately had to lay flat on the ground and then couldn't get up, it was the worst pain of my life. On Sunday, after a very uncomfortable night, I was able to get an appointment because they're open 7 days a week! I first saw Dr. De La Cruz on Sunday and I could barely get in the car, walk to the appn, walk to the office to get adjusted. The pain was excruciating. He did some adjustments and suggested I connect with Dr. Cressey on Monday. I somehow made it to the appn on Monday after another day and night of shooting, excruciating pain. Dr. Cressey helped me to his office and told me that I had facet's syndrome, likely caused from one year of sitting at a non-ergonomic set up because I work from home. Part of my back was super swollen and he had to carefully adjust me. He told me to walk if I could, and to lie on my back to give it time to stop swelling. I did that for three straight weeks! I did everything Dr. Cressey told me, when to come back, what stretches to do and eventually I stopped going everyday until I could go every 3rd day, then every 5th day, until once a week. We're now down to once every two weeks and he tells me that eventually I can come down to once a month. He even wrote me a note so that my company bought me a standing desk so that I can have an ergonomic work station. I'm so thrilled that my friend Kate recommended Dr. Cressey. He helped relieve me of the worst pain I've had in my life. I really like how nice he is, and how into yelp he is (he's a former Yelp Elite from the beginning of Yelp). He has a very neat table in his office which lifts up and down and helps to stretch out the back. When he applies heat while using the shifting table it feels great. His staff is very friendly and sympathetic. I like getting treatment, which involves getting EMS treatments while lying on a water bed that gently massages you, it's a very relaxing experience. I would highly recommend Dr. Cressey if you're looking for a chiropractor. First time here but not the last time. My hubby was in extreme pain due to his neck and shoulder area and we both knew if he went to the ER, they would just send him to another doctor so we figured to skip that step. I called first thing in the morning and explained the situation and they said just to come on in. (Note: They usually don't accept walk-ins so please call and make an appointment first. Our situation was an emergency.) We arrived a short time later and my hubby was seen right away after filling out some paperwork. Super bonus: they have toys for the kiddos so my son had a blast playing with all of the Legos. They also have super comfortable chairs as well. You could fall asleep in them. The appointment was super quick. He met not with Dr. Cressey but with another doctor in the practice, Dr. Kuo. He said Dr. Kuo was very knowledgeable and treated him very well. Ok so, listen. I've been going to Cressey for nearly a year. I've had chronic issues from a car accident 20 years ago. I also have chronic health concerns like migraines and sinus pressure. The first time I went to his office, he just listens to your concerns then goes in. He's SO GOOD that he can tell just by you walking in what needs adjusting after knowing your body. I literally found this place just by browsing around and ended up visiting the office. Let me tell you, this is the best place ever. Every employee I encountered was really friendly and helpful. They don't only show concern, but they have nice conversation with you as well. If you ever happen to meet Robin, which you will most likely will. She works at the front desk, and the wife of Dr. Cressey. She is super awesome. She talks to you and helps you. She really really cares about patients' condition and she'll show major support for you. My doctor is, I believe, his name is spelled De Le Cruz, and he is just amazing. He'll walk you through and give you a good overall assessment. He'll treat you carefully base on how your conditions are. If I could recommend any chiropractor in the world to you dear friends, Dr. Cressey would be the one. Wouldn't it be cool if I hurt my back climbing Mount Everest? Skiing in the French Alps? But no. Doing my daily chores, reaching up into the cupboard for some more espresso, standing on a chair, (so unglamorous) I felt something slip out in my lower back. Then, like Bugs Bunny in a Warner's Brother's cartoon, my body froze in perpetual spasm and I dropped flat on the floor with one glass-breaking scream. All the usual thoughts are going through my head. I'm too young to die. I never wanted it to end this way. Damn it is dusty underneath my refrigerator! It took two hours and a whole lot of sweat to drag myself to the next room so that I could use a phone to call for help. Now the debate. 911 or the ex. 911 or the ex. What could go wrong with 911? Paperwork is NOT my strong suit. This is an instance where the wrong x on the wrong line could have me in a legal battle with my Musician's Union HMO which is barely hanging on by a thread. Ex it is. Darn, I wish I could put on some make up and brush my hair, brush my teeth. Why did I have to get taken down to the ground with this horrible outfit on? This is how I will be spending my last days.:-( Can't get up off the kitchen floor. No make up on my tear stained face. Looking like hell. Anybody who can see me in this state and smile at me is a saint. What do you think of chiropractic care? I am a fan of modern medicine. Maybe you are too. I have had a life saving surgery in the past. But. Ten years ago, I was advised to have surgery at UCLA for a disk problem. I opted for chiropractic care instead. With the help of a caring chiropractor and a long term program, I became pain free. For ten whole years. So, when I could not get off the floor, I asked my ex (a non yelper) to check yelp (my bible when it comes to finding restaurants doctors and more) for a chiropractor. He searched Pasadena chiropractors on yelp's website with hopes of finding someone who would be willing to make a house call because I could not get up from the floor. "How many stars?" I asked.;-) -Which is how I found Dr. Cressey. His first advice was to switch from heating pads to ice pads. He even sells gel ice packs. Which is great for me because I would be using frozen peas otherwise. When Dr. Cressey came to my messy recording studio/home, he brought diagrams of the spine and showed me the possibilities of my injury. He has a sophisticated knowledge of the practical workings of the spine and tissue that he was happy to educate me about. He brought a Mobile sonogram machine to treat me with. When he shook my hand and looked into my eyes, his compassionate smile let me know that I was in good hands. Dr Cressey treated me gently. He did a couple of tests and stretched me out. I felt better after his first visit. I did go to the hospital the next day when I still could not walk. I don't think that I would have been able to handle the pain of being on the stretcher without Dr. Cressy's help. The hospital confirmed the slipped disk that Cressey found and gave me morphine and steroids. I am looking forward to future treatments with Dr. Cressey. If you see me dancing at the next yelp event, it might be all thanks to Dr. Cressey.:-) And special thanks to the one who helped me find him. My dad has been experiencing radiating neck pain for a few months now and I've been constantly pushing him to go see somebody about it. He finally budged! My friend actually referred me to this clinic so I went on ahead and made an appointment for my dad. I was really excited about this first appointment for my dad especially since so many people have raved about the doctors at this clinic and Dr. Cressey. The experience did not fall short from what was expected! Dr. Cressey is such a knowledgeable, honest, witty (and not to mention funny) person who is great at what he does! You can tell in that one session that he is very passionate about people and his practice. He makes a great effort into really knowing his clients and their concerns. Not only did he diagnose and treat my dads pain, he educated him about what was causing the pain and really made sure my dad was comfortable. My dad is a pretty stubborn guy and hates going to the doctor but I could tell that my dad is looking forward to coming back. Like some people have mentioned, Dr. Cressey doesn't do what he does just for money. He really cares about his clients! My boyfriend tried to make an appointment but Dr. Cressey was fully booked. I probably average a tune-up every six weeks to two months due to repetitive work activity and daily exercise. So finding a place so close to work/home has been a godsend. Kevin you are the CHIROMAN! Im petrified of ALL doctors seriously. Unless Im dealing with a huge amount of pain where Im waving white flag; I will drag myself to a Dr. office as last resort. It was a Saturday and I parked my car across the office and felt the need to leave. I just couldnt, I wouldnt, I cant, I shouldnt.. but I DID it! I walked into Dr. Cresseys office and was greeted by a staff member right away. I had a horrible back pain right in the center yet connected to my shoulder on the right. Day beforehand I went to Kaiser thinking I literally tore a muscle but all they gave me were pain mediciations. I looked around for a Chiropractor and remembered a tip from years ago about Dr.Cressey. I got in contact with him and he assured me he knew what my problem was and to pay him a visit. I dont normally trust people especially ones that say they know whats wrong without even seeing you!? hmm! Dr Cressey is amazing! I started going because I was having severe back pain and I was waking up with numb hands every morning... and at times my hands would go numb during the day. I felt like a new person after only one session, so I started going back weekly. My back is better, my hands aren't numb every morning, and every time I get an adjustment, my body feels amazing. If you're looking for a chiropractor because you were injured in a car accident, you will be so thankful you went to Dr. Cressey and his amazing team!  If this is you, I consider my situation as a complicated case because I wasn't critically injured but my accident was bad enough where it could have financially devastated me.  And Dr. Cressey was a God-send because him and his team helped heal my injury and also helped me navigate my treatment so it was financially feasible.  I wish I could say when it comes to health, who cares how much it costs, but unfortunately that was not my reality. I was rear-ended last year on the freeway (beginning of all the crazy rains we had) and the accident totaled my car.  Because my injuries were not life threatening and I could still drive my car (bc only the rear was smashed) police nor an ambulance were dispatched bc they were busy responding to all the other car accidents caused by the rain!  My family urged me to go to the ER, but intuition told me not to do that, so I Googled and read to see a chiropractor instead, which then led me to read Yelp reviews that Dr. Cressey successfully handled car accident injuries!  I was already a patient of his because I injured my knee from long-distance running so it was no brainer to see him. Fast forward 6 weeks later, I was still in a lot of pain, so much so that I couldn't work, and therefore was let go from my job.  Unemployed and still in pain from my accident, I was freaking out.  At this stage Dr. Cressey helped me navigate my treatment plan and he has a lot of great referrals who helped me recover from the accident.  I saw three other specialists who helped heal my injury and also hired an attorney.  Getting into a car accident is very expensive.  Even though the other driver was at fault and I have my own car insurance, you still need to navigate the claims process carefully making sure that you get what's within your rights and privileges. Throughout the process Dr. Cressey and his team took great care of me.  They're very professional and his referrals were amazing too, very knowledgable of car accident injuries, the process, and gave me a lot of reassurance and peace throughout the long recovery.  Like any injury you need to give it time to heal and I felt I really taken care of because I could just focus on my own personal healing and not worry (too much) about all the other details.  Dr. Cressey really cares for his patients and his referrals share the same level of care.  They understand how stressful this process is, it feels like a game and they truly know how to play it well. read more

This review is long overdue, as I've been functioning pain free for a few months now. I had a nagging knee injury that prevented me from running. I would go for a run and I could barely go a few hundred meters before I was in too much pain to continue on. So I stopped exercising for a few weeks to let it rest. Weeks later and the pain was still there. This pain was like no injury that I had ever had before. I couldn't shake the pain and the knee just didn't feel right. I'd even started to feel a twitch during the day doing normal things. My concern started to grow, as I thought that maybe my knee was shot and cringed at the thought of seeing a specialist and cringed even harder at the thought that I might need surgery as a remedy. Chiropractors are supposed to fix your spine and back, right? That's what I thought, so I was a little skeptical at first when I spoke to Dr. Cressey about my knee issues. How would the "back" guy fix my knee issues, I thought? After a few minutes of chatting about the injury, he urged me to pay him a visit to at least see what he could do. On my first visit he gave me some general info on chiropractic care and how the spine related to the every part of the body, using some colorful examples so that you understand the logic behind it, as opposed to spouting off technical jargon that you won't remember. Then I gave him the complete low down on the symptoms and he ran a few tests. A quick diagnosis ensured - the muscles and ligaments in the area of pain were very weak, and he had a solution. He set out a plan to tackle the injury and strengthen the muscles and ligaments. The regime worked perfectly. Within 2 weeks, I was feeling less pain. The random twitches that I would feel the during the work day lessened by the day and would eventually be gone. After a month, I tested the knee with a 3 mile run and was able to finish it pain free. I can sufficiently say that my expectations were surpassed - so much that I've come back for regular adjustments. Not only did my injury improve, but I learned a good bit of information as to how keep the injured area strong to avoid re-injury. Sure, I didn't have a back related injury per se, but would recommend that anyone with some nagging joints or muscle pains to give him a shot. read more

The examination room has a great table that moves as you lay down to allow your spine to stretch. The therapy room is great too. I wish I had one of those hydro-jet beds in my house. Its a 10 minute ride of relaxation. Imagine warm gentle fingers massaging your back while some ultrasound stimulates trouble spots. You are in excellent hands if Wassima is there to treat you with ultrasound. As I have shared earlier, I know Kevin personally and socially. I've always found him to be a very caring and humorous man. His professional personality conveys a great knowledge of his field and a confidence in his skill that allows you to relax and trust in his work. Whenever I am waiting for my session, I can overhear him talking to other patients about their treatment. It impresses me to hear that he is not only concerned about treating the pain at hand but he wants to promote good health and wellness in the grander and bigger scheme of life. Anyone who has been living with more pain and discomfort than they should, but is also suspicious of chiropractors (which is pretty much EVERYONE) needs to see Dr. Kevin Cressey RIGHT NOW. Dr. Cressey is not just a doctor. Doctors just treat symptoms. They usually just give you whatever drugs that will fix one problem while creating a new one. (More often than not, the drugs never address the REAL problem in the first place) And mark my words - finding a doctor who does not constantly check his watch and rushes you out the door after seeing you for 5 minutes, even though you just spent an hour of your day waiting for him/her - is harder than finding a hairy straight man working at the MAC counter at Macy's. Dr. Cressey IS a doctor in all the right ways. He wants to relieve your pain, but also wants to find out what's causing it. He wants you to be as knowledgeable about your body as he is (yes, THAT'S why he goes over those laminated cards with you like a grade school teacher). He wants to treat your symptoms, but prefers that he helps you avoid those symptoms in the first place. How do I know this after just a couple of visits? Because on my first visit the instant I mentioned a previous serious car accident to Dr. Cressey - he immediately not only gave me his opinion, but pulled Dr. Smith (who he shares his clinic with) for a second opinion, and right there - even though this was an initial assessment, and it was way past the office's closing time of 6 pm, AND I was making Dr. C late for a very important date - they took my X-Rays. Then Dr. C expertly adjusted my neck and back. WOO-HOO!!! I can actually touch my ears to my shoulders now!!! More importantly, Dr. Cressey wasted no time letting me know my X-ray results. And he was very open and honest about treating ONLY what needed to be treated. Though this sounds like just plain honesty and common sense, most doctors, especially chiropractors (or chiroQUACKtors as I call them) would try to throw the book at you. And thank God. Turns out my neck needed more treatment than I thought, and I would be infinitely more glad to get it treated now by Dr. Cressey rather than get cleaned out by the hospitals when the pain gets really bad. Seeing that this is a tight economy, I know people are curious about pricing, but let me just say it's affordable. Better than giving HMO-controlled hospitals and drug companies thousands of your hard-earned cash. This is coming from someone who's not had health insurance this entire year. I met Kevin (oh gees, he's Dr. Cressey now!) through Yelp while he was still in chiropractic school (is that the right terminology for it?). I was always impressed by his passion for the field and impressed by his obvious book knowledge. Well, I can now personally attest to the fact that his skills go far past books. He is simply a fantastic chiropractor. I first started going to Dr. Smith, the other doctor in the practice, right before Kevin graduated on Kevin's recommendation for a shoulder injury. My shoulder was already improving when Kevin took over my treatment. He integrated adjustments with message and "homework" exercises for me to do. For the first time in two years my shoulder stopped being a constant pain and turned back to something that moved my arm. I would have been eternally grateful just for that, however.... I play Roller Derby. I actually ref much more than I skate, but I am in the LA Derby Dolls wRECk League and thus have had my fair share of injuries the average Joe isn't going to get. My latest injury resulted in a MASSIVE bruise on my right thigh, my left knee swelling to double its size and my left shoulder (formally known as my good shoulder) so messed up I could barely move it. It turned out that the office was closed the day after my injury. Well, Kevin came in ON HIS DAY OFF and gave me an adjustment. If it wasn't for that I think I would still be much worse off than I am -- which isn't that bad at all two weeks later. I was even able to skate last night! Are you a skeptic? Chiro newb? Scared of anything medical related? Well so was I... until I visited Dr. Cressey. I was involved in a car accident (not my fault I promise) which left me in pain and unable to sleep at night. I was referred to Dr. Cressey by my lawyer and went in not thinking this is going to help me with anything... Fast forward a few weeks later and I feel better than ever... physically and mentally. Anyone will tell you that I am afraid of everything but Dr. Cressey explained everything to me and answered any questions I had... and I had a lot. A very patient and funny man. I was still unable to relax fully during the sessions but he pulled out all of his tricks to make me CRACK. He also has a great group of individuals working with him. Amanda, for example, remembered my name on my second appointment. NO ONE has ever remembered my name or even pronounced it correctly after meeting me only one other time. She didn't have a chart, I didn't sign in, I didn't wear my name tag.... She's always bright and cheery so you leave feeling better even after a crappy day. Everyone there is so very friendly and nice, it's kind of unreal, but it works... you leave feeling better because of the positive energy and vibe that they produce. I would definitely recommend Dr. Cressey, especially if you have never been to a chiropractor. I am planning on making this a monthly thing for me and would not consider seeing anyone else. Looking at Dr. Cressey purely as a chiropractor, I will any day give a 5-star rating. He is amazing at getting all the soft and weak spots on your neck, back, hands and legs and can relax in you in 5 to 10 minutes. His hand manipulation techniques are very effective. He is also very patient in explaining the details of your problem. His clinic uses water beds, electrical stimulation and ultra-sound therapies as well. Front-desk and office staff are friendly. But with all that said, I have to say this - Dr. Cressey could be quite expensive if you don't have PPO insurance (about $75 per session without PPO). More importantly - If he is the best, then I should give up hope on chiropractic practice itself. Because all my pain came back 2 or 3 months after I stopped going to him. I know for many people a chiro visit once every few months is enough, but for me it did not work. I had to keep going to them 2 to 3 times a week and I simply could not afford the money and the time. Same case with all chiros. I am better off financially going to physical therapists, who teach exercises you do yourself, than going to chiropractors to get the temporary relief for a few days. Again, that's just me, and if you need immediate relief from pain and are convinced about chiros, he may be the best in town! read more

He was very thorough in his examination and I felt great after getting adjusted...He is very knowledgeable and experienced and and makes an effort in educating his clients on how the spine, back and shoulder works...He taught me a few simple moves and exercises that I have been doing daily which helped with my neck & shoulder pain. After contemplating the professional ethics of my previous chiropractor, I realized having a good communication with your doctor is important. Understanding and knowing what's going on with your patient is vital to their healthy progression and lifestyle. Being a complicated case with previous injuries and surgeries, truthfully I was a bit hesitant to see Dr. Cressey because he was inexperienced. I realized I was in excellent hands because he had a great experienced colleague/partner and that Dr. Cressey was really skilled and knowledgeable. He always takes his time and asks how I'm doing and I don't feel rushed. Every visit has been wonderful and I feel myself getting better. My job sounds so damn easy, even to me. I stand behind a podium and talk for about 8 hours at a time. Ah, the life of a trade show salesman sounds like such a breeze. There is some lifting and whether I be at there airport, the convention center or experiencing the local culture in the streets, there's usually a lot of walking, but this still doesn't sound like a tough gig, right. That's until I worked a few shows on concrete floors (the floors are usually carpeted). The pressure on my spine of standing directly on concrete for so long finally it to me and wrecked my back...and just less than a week before my wedding. Here I was, worried about losing my voice, and what do I do? I messed my back up so bad, it hurt to walk, it hurt to sit...and the worst was when I sneezed. Wow, that hurt! I scheduled an appointment with Dr Kevin Cressey and he gave me a great education on how the back works...how they should be, how they shouldn't be, how they get that way and how to fix them. He let me know this injury happens a lot with chefs, performers and guys like me who stand for lengthy periods of time. Between conversation and visual aids, I really felt like I knew what was going on. As someone that doesn't see a lot of doctors, Dr. Cressey made me feel really comfortable with what was going on and most importantly, he gave me hope that I wouldn't be a crippled disaster at my first dance. He evaluated my back, found the problems and gave me an adjustment. I now understood the basic science behind what he was going to so, but I still didnt know what to expect. I just knew that I needed to exhaust every option to be 100% for my wedding day (3 days away at this point). At the time I arrived at Dr Cressey's office I was probably at 40% and in quite a bit of pain. I laid across the bed and he cracked my back, loosening things up. I hurt myself lifting weights overhead and for the second time this year felt a shooting pain up the side of my neck. Lucky for me, I met Dr. Cressey at a Yelp event and could actually call on someone who I trusted to help alleviate the pain. I hadn't done any chiropractic work since I was a little kid with back problems, so, I didn't know what to expect - all I hoped was for the pain to go away. And I'm happy to say after 3 adjustments and a few therapies, it's gone. Yay - I can check my blind spots while driving without having to turn my entire body 90 degrees! I've always been skeptical about chiropractors. That's one unfortunate aspect of growing up with the U.S. health care system. Most MDs talk about chiropractic care as though it's black magick or something. Anyway, I blew out my back Last Saturday, while trying to throw a coffee table. I mean just WRECKED it. Spent all day Sunday in the most excruciating pain I've felt, well... since the last time this happened to me about 10 or so years ago. I play music for a living, and a large part of my job includes schlepping my equipment from place to place. If I can't move my gear, I can't work. The last time this happened, I was down for a week and a half. That's a lot of music missed. Income, too. Probably because she got tired of all the whining, my awesome wife found and contacted Dr. Cressey. He came to my house on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (thank christ for health insurance), and worked on me right there in the living room. The difference has been HUGE. Without his help, I wouldn't be back on my feet in only three days. Today, I was able to walk into his office for x-rays. His staff are absolutely top-notch, and they have great equipment. The water massage bed is BADASS. If you've been on one, you know what I'm talking about! Dr Cressey went to great length to make sure that I was well-informed. I've been seeing chiropractors since I was in high school - Mom got me started due to severe migraines and various neck and lower back problems. My Dad was a chiropractor. Previous doctors always helped a little, but I never felt like I was getting better or making progress. I once asked a chiropractor if there were any exercises I could do to improve my neck and back. He said, "Yes...exercise". Not helpful. I found Dr. Cressey on Yelp, trusted the glowing reviews, and I am so glad I did. I really believe he's changed my life. I'd had pain for so long, I thought I just had to accept it. Dr. Cressey showed me the light and for the first time in (I don't know how long) I have little to no physical complaints and generally feel better. I even sleep better. It's been months since my last debilitating migraine; I used to get them 1-2 times per month. Dr. Cressey really knows his stuff. After my first visit to his Pasadena office, I remarked to my husband that he was the first chiropractor who didn't hurt me and I didn't feel beat up after my adjustment. Dr. Cressey is intelligent and genuinely concerned with your health and improvement. He's given me some really helpful exercises and I've even started hiking because of him. He's a true healer, practices what he preaches, and believes in the power of customer service (which is really important to me). He's understanding, sympathetic, and really listens. I've never had a problem with him, but I believe him to be the kind of person who would not only remedy the situation immediately, but make sure it never happened again. Furthermore, his staff is impeccable. They really are the best staff I've ever encountered in a doctor's office anywhere. I'm not exaggerating, they're awesome. I really look forward to my weekly appointments. His office is clean, professional, and comfortable.
