After moving to Pasadena last spring, I was nervous about leaving my previous chiropractor, whom I loved, and finding a new one. I called for an appointment and got a same-day appointment (that's what happened when I first called my previous chiro, so I took this to be a good sign). After describing my problems and an receiving an evaluation, Dr. Cressey began treating me. He addressed all the same areas as I'd previously had treated, but what immediately stood out to me was that Dr. Cressey's manipulations were very precise, and I felt in good hands--something very important when you're head is literally in someone else's hands. That was over six months ago, and I'm regularly back for maintenance. Aside from his professionalism and precision, he's a really nice guy! The office staff is great. My insurance is really lame, but Robin at the front desk put up with a lot of their problems to help me get things sorted out. Matt in the therapy room is also very good at what he does and, like everyone else there, a really nice guy. This is my first Yelp review and I can't believe it's taken me almost a year to write a review on Doctor Cressey! I've been seeing Doctor Cressey for a little over a year now and I've only had the best experience with Doctor Cressey, Doctor Smith and their entire staff. I moved to Southern California a little over a year ago from Seattle Washington. I had an amazing Chiropractor in Seattle and I never thought I would find a Chiropractor that even compared to the Chiro that I had in Seattle. I was very wrong. I'm pretty sure I like Doctor Cressey more. I'm a huge runner and I need adjustments just as much as humans need air (I'm serious). I've had injury after injury due to running longer distances and if anyone can get me back on my feet, it's Doctor Cressey. I'm not his easiest patient as I'm extremely stubborn and I have a huge fear of people touching my neck. Every single time he puts his hands around my neck I start sweating and tense up....I've always been this way. He is the only chiropractor that I've ever met that is patient with me, along with being extremely gentle. Six months after starting to see him he was able to adjust my neck with very little problem. We still have a little trouble, but nothing like it was in the beginning. Doctor Cressey, along with Doctor Smith are the best of the best of the best. Extremely knowledgeable and very kind. What can I say? I'm a runner. In early November, during the Santa Clarita Marathon, my lower back had a nuclear meltdown. I could barely walk. Running was out of the question. Four days later, I was in Dr. Cressey's office. Before he laid a hand on me, he listened. He asked questions and he listened some more. He gave me a very helpful explanation of the way the joints in the back and in my hips (where I was also experiencing pain) actually work. He diagnosed my condition and prescribed a treatment plan, as well helping me formulate a safe strategy for getting back on the road again. By Thansgiving, I was doing light running. I am now back to double-digit training runs with my friends. Bottom line, that was what I needed from my chiropractor, and I am very pleased at the way I got there. Just as important, Dr. Cressey noticed a knot in my neck that made me slightly less asymmetrical than Quasimodo. I had grown so accustomed to the discomfort that I didn't notice anymore. The first couple of times I was adjusted, I got severe headaches. Dr. Cressey explained that that was to be expected because my body had become so used to being out of alignment, it was fighting to go back. After the third adjustment, I felt fantastic. Dr. Cressey pointed out the various ways I was working that created the condition. Now, during the day, I catch myself slipping back into old habits and I adapt before it gets out of hand. The best part of the experience is that I have felt in control of my treatment the entire time. Dr. Cressey works in partnership with his patients and, somewhat in the manner of a Zen Master, guides you to making the appropriate choices. You state that "I think we should this, this, and that," and he returns a knowing nod. I now visit once a month for an adjustment, and stretch before and after my runs as I never have before. Drs. I used to drive all the way down to Irvine to receive back adjustments and muscle stim on a periodic basis. Let's just say, once you find a good Chiropractor it's hard to go anywhere else. Dr. Cressey is very informative, helps identify your spine challenges, and provides simple/effective treatments. He is super knowledgeable and is all about patient care. His adjustments are awesome! I discovered new techniques that my previous Chiropractor didn't provide. Pretty much, I make visits just for maintenance work bc I know what my back/neck needs. Dr. Cressey, unlike other chiros that I've seen in the past isn't the type that comes in and WHAM cracks your neck in 2 seconds and leaves to see his other bazillion clients. Not at all. Dr. Cressey is professional and listens to whatever gripes you have about pains/stiffness/etc. and then does a thorough evaluation to diagnose the problem. The stand out from all the rest of the chiros I've seen is that Dr. Cressey is gentle with your body (good GAWD I've had one chiro that I thought was going to break my back) and is really passionate about getting you back on your feet without "ouf" or "ow". He also gives a reasonable time frame for treatment so there are no surprises. There's no guarantees that you'll be better by then (after all it's up to you to keep yourself healthy!) but he does give a reasonable time frame with justification. After adjustments Dr. Cressey may show you some stretches to help heal your injury--which is totally handy! Then you're swept away to usually Matt who puts you on a crazy water bed jiggling device while hooked up to electrostimulation. No, that doesn't hurt and YES they do have eye covers (ask for it, staring at the light sucks). If needed you can have ultrasound done on very tight muscles which I find to be very helpful. Ah yes, if you are going for long-term treatment advanced payments is optional but it does save you money in the long-term. Ask for it as I didn't know about that option until week 6 (d'oh!). Overall Dr. Cressey is great, I highly recommend him to anybody that needs a little tuning up or down right therapy for an injury. THANKS DR. CRESSEY! read more

Having suffered a herniated disc and fractured vertebrae in a snowboard accident, I was definitley in need of top notch chiropractic care and Dr. Cressey more than delivered. At first I was a little skeptical but after a few visits the pain and discomfort I had been experiencing on a daily basis had significanlty diminished. Thank you Dr. Cressey! I had tried almost everything under the sun prior to seeing Dr. Cressey, including traction, acupuncture, physical therapy and massage. All of these approaches helped to alleviate some of the pain temporarily but none of them helped to address the underlying issues. Dr. Cressey began with a full exam and showed me in detail where the problem areas of my spine were and proceeded to outline his plan to get my back aligned properly. I found Dr. Kressey on yelp after being rear ended and in dire need of an adjustment. I had never been to a chiropractor prior to my visit here... Although I had kept my fiancé and dad company to multiple visits of their own chosen chiropractors. Right when I walked in I was greeted by a VERY friendly and personable receptionist. Dr. Kressey and Dr. Smith were off to the side of the desk and came up to ME to introduce THEMSELVES! ( WOW talk about GREAT care). Both were thoroughly interested as to why I was here and gave me a mini tour of what they do in the office. Then, Dr. Kressey took me to the back where he completed an assessment via questions and physical assessment. I was confused with a bit of the terminology and o think Dr. Kressey could tell so he re-explained everything with imitation bone props which was SUPER awesome ( ...and funny ). After, he adjusted my back and then we went to another little room for some hydrotherapy. After TWO visits of this my back felt WAYY better. Dr. Cressey is wonderful! As I had never been to a chiropractor before, he took time to educate me on the basics of chiropractics and explained everything he was doing. He genuinely listened to my answers about my lifestyle and activities and applied it to my treatment. He also invited me to go hiking with his group! Prons: - Location/parking: it is located in the first floor of a business building where there is a parking lot next to it. The doctor's office offers parking token for patients to take. The tokens are placed in a bowel on the counter top of the front desk. Having a parking lot in place is a huge benefit especially driving in Old Town Pasadena. If parking is your concern, don't worry, they got you covered. - Staff: Greatest staff I have met. Both receptionists are very welcoming and attentive. They don't overbear you by keeping calling you or texting you to secure your re-visit. They give patients enough personal space and adequate amount of greeting and chatting. Walking into the office just like you walk into your friends' place. -Doctor: Great human being and very professional. Unlike some chiropractors who persuade patients to purchase treatment sessions. Dr. Cressey is very straightforward. I went in with a complaint of neck and upper back pain/stiffness. He told me that his treatment timeline from urgent stage where office visits are expected to be every other day to maintain stage where office visits are expected to be once a week or every other week. After the treatment, your body will heal on its own. The treatment schedule is very reasonable and attainable. I like it that he gets to the point and his treatment is quick. In Pasadena, I had tried a different chiropractor in the area because she took my insurance, but I didn't get much out of the appointment, so I went to Yelp and found Dr. Cressey, and the extra money I'm spending is definitely worth it. The chiropractic care has been effective for various injuries as well as general check-ups, and Dr. Cressey and his staff go out of their way to make sure you have a top notch customer experience. I don't write reviews unless one of two things happens: exceptional experience or horrible experience. I am proud to say that the reason for this review is the former. Dr. Cressey and his staff provide nothing short of top-notch treatment, care and service. My mother-in-law had been seeing Dr. Cressey for months as she sought treatment and relief from a decades-old neck injury. Seeing her progress and improvement under his care was more than enough reason for me to make an appointment. As it turns out, before I could schedule a general checkup/maintenance appointment, I found myself in severe and debilitating shoulder and neck pain (brought on by recent stressful events). Dr. Cressey was not only thorough in examining me, asking me questions and adjusting me, he was deliberate in his intent to stop the pain and get to the bottom of its causes. It just so happens that years of working at a desk and staring at a computer put a curve in my spine. He was very communicative about his process and plans for getting me well. I was never confused as to why he was doing something - everything was explained thoroughly and in a way that was easy to understand. A few visits later, my neck was feeling exponentially better. just now I was going through some excruciating neck pain to the point where my blood pressure was teetering up to almost 200. I was on pain meds but still nothing worked. When I laid down, fire would shoot down my arms and o could not sleep for many days. I was literally walking like a zombie! UNTIL, I met Dr. Cressey. It's been awhile since I met someone in the health industry that actually cared and was not trying to get you on their program. Someone who not only listened but put no pressure on you and actually cared for your well-being. I would like to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help, Dr. Cressey. I am a licensed acupuncturist and have been doing acupuncture for almost 20 years. My back suddenly hurts a lot at the end of one day after a lot of bending my back forward from inserting needles. I know something was wrong with my back muscles and it would be very painful. In the next morning at 4:00 am I woke up from the pain and I could not turn around. I could not find any comfortable position on my bed. My wife has to help me to get up or turn around. The pain would be gone in 2 to 3 hours after I got up and I was pain free during daytime. Nothing helps. I was strugging for 3 days. At that time Kevin was treated by me with acupuncture. So I asked for help from him. Kevin check me from head to toe, asked detailed questions and he found the facet joints in my T-9 to T-12 was very sensative to touch, also my laminae. I have been going to Dr. Cressey for years now and I he absolutely rocks. I literally came here years ago after throwing my back out after a ports injury I could barely walk without the help of a cane. He is constantly booked for a good reason, once I finally got an appointment my back was as good as new and I could finally walk without a cane. It took a couple of session but I was finally able to walk without any pain. This is the reason why he holds a specially place in my heart. Not only that but he is super cool down to earth really cares about his patients. 5 stars is not enough for him and his crew, without him I would not be able to walk! Also although they use a fully computerized system they allowed me to go old school paying cash and not having to use there system, which is a big plus in my book. Customer service through the roof. Been waiting to post after my full experience. I had first came to Dr. Cressey after finding him on yelp. First impression was I liked the guy. To be honest, I didn't care very much if I liked him, I cared that he did he job well. Spoiler alert: he's awesome and what he does and the approach he takes to patient care. Extremely pleased with the care I received. The front desk staff is always helpful and friendly. They are patient, accommodating and understanding. After several weeks of therapy and adjustments I felt better when WHAM! Car crash left me in terrible pain and constant discomfort. Luckily, Dr. Cressey was ready to take on the challenge. After weeks of therapy, ultrasound and adjustments I felt SO MUCH better. It is the difference between being in pain all the time vs. feeling almost normal. I've been visiting Dr. Cressey's office for about a year now and am just now taking the time to write a review. Better late then never. I have had middle back pain and a stiff neck since......well........I turned 40. I'm too young to feeling so bad. I got referred to Dr. Cressey from one of my friends in Pasadena who had recently visited him. I never really had chiropractics done before and was a little reluctant to be quite honest. All those stupid fears and reservations melted away within the first 20 mins. Not only was the staff cheerful and professional , the guy explains everything that is going on with your pain and explains what he will be performing. Educating me if you will on what to expect. I wish more professionals would treat their customers to that knowledge. Such a gift. Pain, oh yeah. So after a very thorough first visit he knew what my problems where and started treatments on the same day. My neck stiffness went away before I left the office that day, my 4 year old back pain took a little more work obviously. I think it was about my 3rd visit when I just felt that burning edge lifted from my pain level. What a relief to say least. I've been seeing him on a regular basis ever since, "maintenance" if you will. I no longer toss and turn at night while I'm sleeping or get so knotted up by sitting in my chair at work anymore thanks to his in office treatments and his very knowledgeable real-life ergonomics tips that he shared with me. Omgoodness did he save my life! I threw out my back one Saturday(when I had to work) and his name keep buzzing around in passing and so many people who weren't even connected to each other were giving me his card so he was the 1st person I called when I woke up in the worst pain, making it difficult to breathe. I was able to get a same day appointment as a first time patient which I was so relieved about! I had never seen a Chiropractor prior so I didn't know what to expect. He walked me through my symptoms and got a good idea about what was going on. Turns out I had a rib in my back out of place! He popped it right back in and just like that I was able to stand straight and breathe! I had already called into work or I would have gone in after seeing him, had I known he could work miracles! I have Kaiser so I knew I wasn't going to be able to use my insurance to see him but he made it very affordable to keep seeing him! He is great at following up to make sure everything is ok. I took a painful spill on a snowmobile trip in Colorado, leaving me with a sore side. Four days after I got back, a huge bruise appeared on my hip. I called my MD, and was told it would take two weeks to be seen. I called Dr. Cressey (who I've known socially for years) and he took me in the next day. He was able to tell I had no serious injury, treated the sore side and the hip bruise, and I left feeling great. I treated with Dr. Cressey for over a year, with visits three times a week for car accident injuries. My visits with him are the highlight of my day as I get the relief I need and he always has a joke or two to share. He answers my concerns in the simplest terms so I can understand where all my pain is from. Although car injuries differ and most of the time you're never 100% back to normal and since this is my third car accident I'm never pain free. Dr Cressey though really did his best in bringing me significant relief from the neck and shoulder pain. I had an acute back problem. Dr. Cressey took his time to educate me on the spine + its workings, showing me diagrams and reading material. He showed me exactly what was going on with my spine after an xray in house and diagnosed scoliosis which no other doctor had picked up before. Dr. Cressey has been ever so patient, kind and caring during his treatment sessions with me. The staff are friendly, courteous and always greet you with a smile. They have been so gracious as to work out a payment plan that suits me too [I don't have insurance.] I am getting better everyday. One word of advice though - follow his treatment plan [exercises/stretches etc] to a tee - that goes unsaid as going hand in hand with Dr. Cressey's treatment. I was offered a free consultation when i attended the grand opening. I did not know this Dr. but have heard of him. To be completely honest... I only went for the free food and to eye fucc the guy i was having relations with. The grand opening was great and it was really nice of the office to give everyone a free consultation. I received a phone call and got penciled in for my appointment. Great. In my twisted head, I thought that maybe I would get a massage or some acupuncture. I didn't think I needed anything because I felt great. Keep in mind that I am a mid twenty something in (self diagnosed) excellent health. The visit went well. Mr.Cressey had me read a bunch of stuff and then broke it all down for me in a way that I could better understand. I thought that was pretty neato. What was not neato was this... After x-rays and chats, I found out that I did not have scoliosis. I feared that because there is someone in my family with it. I was told this, "The good news is you don't have scoliosis". I was so relieved. Then he (Cressey) put up my x-rays. This man told me that I had one leg longer than the other. I freaked out. He told me that I can correct this. His diagnosis was: a foot stump I am to insert into my shoe, and to visit his office two times a week, for six weeks. That sounded a bit excessive for something that does not prevent me from living my life the way I choose to live it. I mean, everyone has one limb longer/shorter than the other. Of course, I didn't think about this until after I called my mother and told her the news. Mothers are smart. Or at least mine is. Mother told me I was stupid and that there is nothing wrong with the length of my legs. She told me if I go to the chiropractor (as much as he recommended) I will be throwing my money away. She said, "why would you believe there is something wrong with you, and how much is he charging you, and you have to go how many times, now do the math, how much will you have to pay him". All the questions and verbal abuse helped me see the light, Turns out, I would owe that office $600 a month for services...that I know of. I did not purchase the stump, though he ordered it for me, which sucks. I should have stopped him. Even if I wanted to go, I can not afford that sht. Especially for something I don't think I need. There is nothing wrong with me. I don't walk with a limp and even if I did, I will go to ten places before I consider settling for a place. I felt as if I was going to get ripped off. One of my legs may be slightly shorter than the other but I stand 6ft tall and suffer no consequences from it. $600 a month? I rather pay my rent on time then fucc with a shoe stump.
