I am a professional pianist so it was important to me that my Steinway grand piano was moved to my new apartment by the right mover. Kevin was highly recommended to me so I called him and scheduled a move date of Thursday, June 18, 2015. Approximately two weeks prior to my move date, a problem arose requiring me to change the date so I called Kevin. When we spoke, Kevin began our conversation by confirming that he had me down for June 18. I told him about my problem and he agreed to change the move date to Tuesday, June 16 between 11AM and 1PM. Because I was moving from an upper floor in an old walkup building, Kevin asked me to e-mail him some photos of my apartment and hallway, which I did the evening of June 15. June 16 arrived and Kevin never showed up nor called, even though I left him multiple messages telling him that I really needed him to let me know what was going on. A day or two later Kevin phoned and spoke with my wife. He told her that he had the move scheduled for June 23, a week later, and said that it was impossible that he could have scheduled the move for June 16 because he was on vacation the week of June 15, a trip that he had planned a year ago. The obvious problem with his excuse was that he originally scheduled me for June 18, right in the middle of the week he was supposed to be on vacation, and then rescheduled me for June 16. I know this to be true because I was on the other end of all phone conversations with him. I was extremely fortunate that Affordable Movers, the company that was handling my general moving needs, considers itself a piano mover and was happy to disassemble, move and reassemble my piano at a fraction of the price that Kevin quoted me.
