Today we came in for breakfast but ended up eating lunch. The service was lukewarm warm from the young lady who greeted us by telling us we can take any table that looks clean to the waitress who was much more personal and polite. My roast beef sandwich will not win any awards, but it was a solid attempt at a Beef on Wick. The sandwich itself was flavorful but the horseradish sauce was heavy on Mayo and light on horseradish, the a jus was good and the French Fries were ordinary. I sample my wife's meatloaf open face sandwich and if given the option I'll take the meatloaf over the roast beef. All in all nothing exceptional but nothing off putting that would warrant a disappointment issue. read more

I have a soft spot in my heart for small NY diners, and this one met my expectations. The decor and atmosphere was adorable with the cute cow decor. This place was a 45 minute hike but was well worth it. The experience was great, food was phenomenal, and we would absolutely make the trek back. Ordered a side of 2 biscuits and gravy...portion sizes are plenty, so I over ordered with this. biscuits and gravy were good, homemade biscuits and flavor was pretty dark good...probably a 4.5/5 on this. Staff were constantly clearing tables or filling glasses which is a plus. Food is a 5/5 Staff 5/5 Noise level was a 4/5 Timeliness of food 4/5 Price 5/5 Overall, a great experience. Quality of food to me has this place clocking in at 5 stars. To drive 45 minutes to a breakfast place and willing to come back says quite a bit. This unassuming diner may be small in stature (roughly 15 tables), but they absolutely pack a mighty punch when it comes to flavor and customer service. Within 2 minutes, a kind gentleman was at our table to take our drink order and hand us our menus. He was very informative on which dishes were customer favorites and offered a few menu suggestions for us to try. We opted for the sampler platter, breakfast garbage plate & the gobbler. Everything was simply wonderful, and I sincerely mean wonderful! You can definitely taste that the food is fresh and made to order. My husband and I visited here recently for breakfast and it was hands down the best breakfast i've ever ordered from a diner! I ordered a coffee, OJ and veggie omelette-- im usually not blown away by an omelette, it's never bad but it doesn't wow me. But this one did! So tasty and I loved the filling. The coffee was equally delicious. The star of the show was the toast. I opted for the multigrain bread, is it homemade?! Idk but it was so good! This diner is a gem. We were warmly greeted, and the place is cheerfully decorated and spotless. The menu is quite comprehensive and the prices are on a par with really good family restaurants, and portions are enormous. Service is very friendly and efficient, but I'd recommend going either before or after the lunch rush, especially on Fridays when they feature their outstanding fish dinner. I was never here when it was "The Valley Inn" but they paid homage to the place with a sign in the dining room. The place doesn't look like much from the street but once inside it looks freshly remodeled with cute decorating. It was fairly busy on the Thursday afternoon I went with my friend. Many choices on the menu but I was in the mood for breakfast and I wanted to try a bunch of different things so I went with The TMR (see my photo of menu for description). Every taste was amazing!!! I normally don't get biscuits and gravy but it was the best I've ever had. The French toast was just like I love it with cinnamon on the batter. Bacon was crispy but not over cooked, home fries cooked perfectly and eggs were perfect. It's safe to say this is my new favorite breakfast place!!!! read more

Went on a recent visit for lunch and this place did not disappoint! In fact, it was awesome. Dan was our server that day and he really made the entire experience a great one. I had inquired about the corn beef hash and he was kind enough to bring out a small sample of it. Amazing! This place was full when we went and for good reason. When we arrived here, it was packed but we came in here before a family of 4 and we are three people. We waited more than 45 minutes plus, before even an interaction from our table. This place is off the beaten path but very cute. Loved all the mums and fall decorations and the decor is mostly black and white and cow. The service was very quick and attentive. We started off with drinks and I will say the iced coffee was good. My husband got the papa beard which he said was okay but had a weird sweetness to it he wasn't expecting and the biscuits were more like scones. I got the eggs Benedict that was good but the home fries were too big. The weren't crispy at all and they had a kind of wetness to them. Also I am not a fan of rosemary which I could taste in them. Heard about this restaurant on Facebook. The place did not disappoint. I had the Wagon wheel without bacon. It was very good. The home fries were excellent. Rarely are home fries that good. They are usually put on the back of the grill and by the time they are served the potatoes are tough and stale. Not these potatoes, tender and crispy and mmm good. I actually ate most of them. The wagon wheel was very tasty the Gruyere cheese was an excellent option and the pico de gallo was fresh and bright tasting. I just wish it was not so far away from East Syracuse. read more

The steak and eggs were great and didn't cost a fortune, the grits were buttery and cheesy, the home fries were perfectly done, and their home made hash is superb. This gets lots of good reviews so I'm at a loss. Our service was great and the food arrived on time. But... this is not a place you go for a light breakfast. I ordered a grilled muffin, assuming it would be buttered and crisped. It was grilled, but in sausage grease and the center was cold. I ordered corned beef hash, which can be great or gut curdling. It was closer to the latter. My husband's classic over easy platter with home fries and bacon suffered from the same overwhelming greasy sausage flavor. If you like that, then this is your place. But we prefer cleaner flavors. I can't imagine what would happen with food allergies, since everything just seemed cooked in the same environment. Sorry. We won't be back. read more

This was our 2nd time here. 1st was on a Saturday 2nd was on a Wednesday. The Saturday breakfast was ABSOLUTELY the reason why we came here again, 5 stars for the weekend crew. Weekday crew could be the same ‍. Wednesday crew needs work had the papabeard with home fries. Homesfries were over cooked borderline crispy. The biscuits in the meal were great if they were homemade. The sausage gravy, (though tasty) was broken and greasy. Wife had eggs and toast with home fries. Her home fries were just like mine borderline crispy. She ordered her eggs easy over, they came hard cooked almost fried egg sandwich hard with crispy edges. We'll be back on the weekends. When we were there on the Wednesday visit we could hear the conversation in the kitchen. "F" bombs were dropped liberally and frequently including what seemed like the owner/boss, engaging in the conversation with the same language, thought we were in Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. I ordered the "Papabeard", which was supposed to to be biscuits with sausage and country gravy over biscuits, and added sausage patties extra, with an English muffin, eggs over light and home fries, and a glass of milk to wash it down. The best part were the eggs. They were spot on. The sausage for the gravy was tasteless, and the home fries were the typical frozen SYSCo potatoes tossed ion the grill. My extra sausage was barely cooked, and I almost sent it back. I was a little taken aback at the size of the glass of milk for the price of it. Just a little larger than a juice glass.
