Was never a fan of this supermarket. Too expensive overall for regular shopping and the coop is on the next block for higher quality items. Since the pandemic, I have not once seen them enforce their posted sign stating mask usage is mandatory. I just tried coming in for the third time over several months and the only other shopper there had her mask hanging off her ear. Manager was nowhere to be found (and I witnessed him welcoming people over the threshold who were not wearing a mask properly last year). Went to leave and another shopper was behind me with no mask to be seen. Went outside to wait for spouse and two workers went in with mask below nose. Poor cashiers were all properly masked. Sign below has been out for several months. Too bad it's just for show. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. I am appalled at this store. I purchased yogurt that was pretty expensive, I believe each container was close to 4$ and it ended up being expired. Sure I could've checked the expiration dates but I was in a rush and I kind of expect for a store that has "fresh" in its name to keep all their products fresh!! Anyway I only realized this when I got home and ate half of it and I called the store to voice my complaint because I think selling expired dairy products is extremely dangerous and can cause serious food poisoning. After being passed onto two different people this man who I believe to be the manager of the store told me I was lying and that they would never sell expired products.. how do you explain the fact that I bought expired yogurt from your store. You can see me on your cameras buying yogurt and on top of that I have a receipt and photos of the expiration label. He continued to yell at me rudely and tell me that the store is not responsible for me buying expired products and it's my responsibility to check. That's like going to the doctor, having them charge your insurance, and being told that it's not the doctors responcibility to treat you and you should do it yourself after you've already paid for his time. It's just ridiculous that instead of issuing an apology and some sort of compensation I was called a liar and all the blame was put on me. That is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life and if I get food poisoning from your product you better believe I'm suing your store for negligence. Always convenient for the neighborhood but i have a real big problem with their fresh produce area. many times i would come to buy fresh thyme and rosemary etc and i find mold and expired dates. BUT TODAY i had it ! an entire living roach in my thyme (after wanting to give them another try) i know it came from the store because i never opened the clear box its kept in. absolutely disgusting! read more

The spacing in this store is terrible. The aisles are extremely tight and, unless there happens to be an unused register for you to walk through, getting to the exit is a nuisance. They have a good produce section and their store brand is affordable. read more

The products they have are good quality and the cashiers are excellent - speedy and professional. The store is small however and many things are overpriced. I would treat this more as a specialty grocery store for things I can't find at other chains than my main place to shop. read more

If you are going to charge TOP dollar for produce, please make sure that your produce has some type of quality. 5.99 for a bag of 4 avocado that are brown and mushy. Just because the neighborhood changed does not mean you have to price gauge. At least the food co-op has nice produce and charges less money than you guys. I've noticed some scathing reviews, but this is my preferred grocery in the area. It's true, you have to watch prices from shelf to counter. That said, if they don't stock something you like, you can tell the manager and they will get it in. The checkout staff is more interested in talking to each other than talking to you, but the produce is always fresh. The only affordable alternative is C-Town which always smells funny. Key food is a good well stocked market but way over priced , nowhere should be doing this in a pandemic where so many people are unemployed , iI have had two bagged salads that smelled 'off ' when opened and had to throw them out . I've been purchasing groceries here for about a year. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful. However, today was the second time in a few months that I purchased meat that was bad, despite that I purchased it well before the expiration (the first time it was chicken, the second time steak). And I see expired items on the shelves almost every time I visit--most especially baby carrots, cartons of kale/spinach, and some other pre-packaged vegetables. Once an entire display of limes were old and moldy. I've given this store many chances but it's proven to be extremely unreliable. If you shop here be very mindful of what you pick up off the shelves. read more

This key food is not among the best, but it's also not the worst. The physical layout of the store is awful. It's very difficult to navigate around the narrow aisles, especially around the checkout area. The selection is decent, but not nearly as good as the key food from my previous park slope neighborhood. But, on a recent visit to this key food, I purchased three dozen organic eggs that I thought were on sale for 2.99 a dozen. When I got to the register they rang up at 7.99 a dozen. The cashier called over the manager and he showed me that the item that I selected was not the item that was on sale, but since they were out of stock on the sale item, he was going to give me the eggs at the sale price. I think that was great customer service and for that reason, I will be a loyal customer of this business. The manager was courteous and thanked me for shopping with him. The check out staff is always friendly and helpful. read more
